This past week, I had the opportunity to attend my very first webinar!  I know, this might be a thing of the past for you, but it was my first time and it was pretty informative ... Especially so much information in such a small time frame! The webinar I attended was hosted by Dr. Dora Adamopolous, "a medical adviser to The Vision Council" and we learned all about protecting your child's eyes.   I will totally admit that I wear sunglasses when outside (and when I have my contacts in) but it is more for the comfort of not having the sun blinding me, I never really gave it much thought about the "safety issue" of it all.  After attending this webinar, I realize I was having major #MOMFAIL mome...

I actually did not know a couple of these.  Let's face it, I am not a genius, nor am I an ophthalmologist.  I am just me :)  Did you know that Brown or Green colored lenses are more effective at filtering out UV light?  Me neither.... Thanks to Dr Richard Norden for providing these tips: Sunglasses are your #1 defense against aging from the sun:  Come on, Mom! You know the last thing you want is wrinkle! Sunglasses should be worn at all times while outdoors (even on a cloudy day).  Sunglasses also help to prevent squinting and loss of elastin, both of which accelerate development of crows’ feet (wrinkles) around the eyes. They can also protect against squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma (the most common type of skin cancer), sebaceous gland carcinoma and melanoma.
