After School Snack Ideas (or before practice snack ideas) #cbias

Image
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. You know how time changes?  Well even though some things change, others still remain the same...  Like good food and good memories!!!    If you have kids, that means easy to make snacks !  That is when you can be thankful that your local Wal-mart carries Bagel Bites and Delimex !   My brother - age 6 My sweet baby boy - age 5 I remember when my brother was little, he played baseball.. and now I get to enjoy watching Broxton getting ready to enjoy baseball season!  While I am lucky to get to be a stay at home mom ( I would not trade it for anything in the world...) My mom and dad have both always worked.  I get to figure out what would be great  #AfterSchoolSnacks   for Broxton, but mom and dad didn't have to worry about snacking options until my brother was older...  It is funny, I was given the cha...

Happy 60th Anniversary, Schwan's!

Growing up, I can remember my mom coming home with food from the Schwan's delivery guy...  From personal pizza's to frozen lemonades, they seemed to carry a little of this and a little of that...  Truth be told, I had no clue, until recently that Schwan's started as an ICE CREAM TRUCK in 1952. I am not sure if you are aware or not, but Schwan's is the 6th most popular grocery e-tailer in the U.S.  To celebrate their 60th Anniversary, Schwan's has introduced a new flavor ice cream:  Triple Chocolate Chunk.   Their description:    The special Triple Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream features milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate ice creams swirled with pieced of white and dark chocolate. With a smooth, creamy texture and fresh dairy taste, this limited-edition flavor is crafted in small batches and packaged in a reusable commemorative anniversary container. Doesn't that sound awesome?   Marc keeps talking about how we need ...

The Boys Liked It... and It's Healthy?! Probar Review

Image
Whenever we have the boys here, I have to plan on having plenty of snacks on hand...  If you think about it, adding three growing boys to the mix, we have to keep them going :) They are now 16, 14 and almost 12... so yes, they are really growing...  As much as they would like to munch on candy bars, chips and drink coke all day long, I know that is not possible.  (I mean, wouldn't we all?!) So, when I heard of the Healthy Food , PROBAR Fruition , I knew I would love the chance to try them while the boys were here...  I had to try them when they came in and I will not lie, I was so nervous that they would not like them.  I just could not eat them... I think it was the texture.  Probar Fruition is full of fresh fruit... but also full of nuts and seeds.. I just could not deal with it.  Marc said they were "okay" but that was about it..  Remembering whenever I have tried to get the boys to try something new, I almost decided ...

I loved the Garlic Almonds best! Thanks Sante Nuts!

Image
We received a nice package in the mail a bit ago. I opened it and was surprised that it was a beautifully packaged Blogger Kit of Gourmet Nuts from Sante Nuts ! I thought to myself, if these nuts taste half as great as the packaging, we are in for a treat! Then, Broxton had to come over and see... It was wonderful! We had several flavors to try : Garlic Almond, Candied Pecans, Roasted Salted Pecans and Candied Walnuts . Being from South Georgia, I thought for sure my favorite was going to be the Pecans... I jumped in to try out the Candied Pecans (which Broxton really loved) but I enjoyed the Roasted Salted Pecans the best out of the pecans! (Hey, we love Peanuts and I can remember picking pecans up and eating them at my great grandmothers house, she had a pecan tree right in her front yard!) Well, I was wrong! I fell in love with the Garlic Almonds ! It was weird, they had a bit of a kick to them, to add a nice hint of spice, but the garlic was not to overwhelming! I thought I w...

Healthy Halloween Alternative? Funky Monkey #Giveaway

Image
With Halloween ALMOST here... Don't you wish that you could fulfill your sweet tooth, without all the sugary candy? That is where Funky Monkey comes in! As soon as Broxton hears the word candy, he wants it... He gets that from Marc and I. No lying about that! But, I can just as easily satisfy that sweet craving with fruit as I can with anything else... Okay, not all the time, as some times you just have to have chocolate... But, normally I can! Why not keep Funky Monkey snacks on hand? Funky Monkey is freeze dried fruit that is just delicious! 100 % Real Fruit, No sugar added, vegan, peanut free... For trick or treaters ... Instead of dishing out all the candy, make it a sweet alternative? Granted, if we had a ton of trick or treaters , there would be no way to afford it, but if you just have a handful or two, you could do it... The great thing about Funky Monkey is that it is in small packages already, so you could just hand them a bag and go... You can pick up Funky Monkey at s...

"Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL?!"

Image
Okay, so maybe that isn't the right title I should have gone with... Giving all the attention with it right now, but still.. When I think of Football, I think of that! Hey, I did work in a sports bar for 10 years... Moving on... Are you a lover of NFL or are you more of an NCAA fan? I personally love College Ball. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I was born and raised in Bulldog Nation! I don't think I need to elaborate... but, just in case.. Dad went to UGA , brother is at UGA ... Broxton is being steered in that direction already! Ha ha!!! Anyways! Game day for us means snacking... No matter what time the game is, I just do not think you can watch football and not snack! Can you? Maybe you can, but I can't. Being that football season is just starting... Okay, so not just starting, but not over either! Come on, you know what I mean! Now is the time to think about a bit healthier snacking options! Here are a few for you to consider: Craisins Origi...

Broxton's "Buddy Fruits"

Image
I do not know about you, but whenever we go to the store, I always notice the Buddy Fruits Products. Every. Single. Time. Quite honestly, it is the simple packaging of the white with the cute friendly little green apple that catches my attention. The simplicity and how cute it is ... That certainly catches the eye of a child too! I was excited to see that they have the "Buddy Fruit Bites" now. We have seen the Blended Fruit (and I want to try the Fruit and Milk soon.) But, we have never seen the bites. I hate to admit it, but we normally just buy the fruit versus the fruit snacks. I would love to have the fruit snacks, but then I always wonder... How much is fruit and how much is all the other junk? I was happy to see that the Buddy Fruit is 100% Fruits! (They even tell you on the packaging how much was used for that bag!) We tried the Orange... That would be 8 orange slices and 7 apple slices in there, in case you wondered. Broxton loved them! He ate some, put them up and t...

Just like Nonni made them! Nonnis Biscotti - Review

Image
In college, I made one of my best friends... Well, the best friends I have now, all came from my college years... Those were the best of times! But, I am talking about one in particular here... His name is Matt and I can remember the two of us sitting around talking about our grandmothers... I called mine, Nana and he called his, Nonni . Nonni is an Italian term... I had not given much thought about that until the other day. I was sent biscotti for us to review. The brand? Nonni's Biscotti ! Talk about memories flooding back! Thinking about Matt and his Nonni , I set in to try these out. Now, let me tell you, my mom enjoys biscotti , but I have never really cared for it. I see now that I was eating the wrong kind!!! Broxton immediatly wanted to try the Caramel Milk Chocolate Biscotti Bites. OH MY! They were wonderful! I admit, we planned to just eat one, but they were too good to put up... So, Marc, Broxton and I each had a couple. We eventually tried all of...

@DelMonteFresh : Teacher Monday #Giveaway

Image
Do your kids like fruits? Luckily for us, Broxton will try just about anything... Now, he might not try it the first time we offer it, but over time, he will at least try it. Whenever we go to visit my parents, he has to ALWAYS help my dad eat his lunch. My dad... Oh my dad... He is so set in his ways. Typical lunch: Couple pieces of lettuce (aka his salad) A little piece of meat of some sort. A couple grapes. A fruit cup and then a Popsicle. Every time he gets to the fruit cup, Broxton has to grab a spoon to help. To the point that when we come to visit, my dad normally sends Broxton home with a pack of fruit cups! (Isn't that just the sweetest?!) When I checked my email the other day, I was smiling to see an email about Del Monte and their new contest: " Teacher Monday: Cash for Classrooms ." What exactly is this contest? Well, it is an initiative to get teachers to promote healthy eating and living. Sixty teachers will win!!!! So, if you are a t...
