Love You More Than Anything by Anna Harber Freeman is a cute book. I read it to Broxton... but I am also going to "give" it to Marc as well.... You might wonder why I would gift my husband a "childrens book"  and to be honest, it is because it is a book about love!!!   On most days, Marc and I will tell each other we love the other "more than" and then name something... So this book totally fits us!!!!    Each 2 page layout has a cute scene (oh yeah, as soon as I told Broxton the title, and showed him the book, he said it was the two of us on the cover!  I LOVE THIS KID!)   with different ways that ...

First Prayers - Great Book for Young Ones

Image
We have just started visiting a new church and we are really liking it so far...  I will tell you all about it another day, but I wanted to share a great new book that we received for review. First Prayers is a beautiful book. It is a hardbound book with illustrations that are amazing... all by Troy Howell. As soon as you open the book, your first page is "Prayer of a Fisherman"  On one page, you have a simple, yet vivid illustration of a little boy in his rain boots and rain jacket, playing with his boat on the edge of maybe a beach... The prayer is on the opposite page, with the colors and beach scene as the background.  The two pages flow together, but there is no distraction behind the words. I have really enjoyed this book and we will start to use it daily.  I love how some prayers are longer with more words, but some are just a few short sentences so that Broxton can start to learn them now.   I have been thinking and thinking...

The Changing Colors of Amos #giveaway

Image
Talk about a cute book! I love reading with Broxton! Each day we read and explore all the different books! We now have a new one to add to the mix. The Changing Colors of Amos! It is adorable and I love how it is presented! Each day presents Amos with a new day full of colors! Not only is this a great book for you to work on colors with your children... It is also great to teach them the days of the week. As if that was enough... In my mind, it is great to allow the children to use their imaginations... Explore their creativity... Talk about their dreams and so much more!!!! The illustrations throughout the book are so nice... It conveys the story, but doesn't take away from the written part! Broxton and I have been having "school" each day. Each day we explore a new color. Yes, he knows his numbers, alphabet and colors, but we pretend each day! This book just adds to the excitement!!! We are enjoying it... and now.................. One lucky ...

My First Hymnal

Image
What better time than Christmas to give an amazing gift? Today, you can give your little ones their very own hymnal. We were sent a copy of My First Hymnal for review from Concordia Publishing. My First Hymnal has more than Hymns in it.. It includes scripture... It also covers morning and evening prayer. As for the Hymns:  Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, Holy Trinity, Jesus, The Church, Baptismal Life, Heaven. Each page is colorfully illustrated. Yes, that means the pages with hymns as well. Some simply have a decorative border, but each page is colorful and will grab the attention of young ones. It is suggested that this book is great for children up to age 10. There is even a records page that allows you a space to write who it was given to, the date it was given and who the giver was! #HolidayGiftGuide - Curious Critters Book

Image
Broxton (and Mommy) have a new book we love!!! We just received Curious Critters by David Fitzsimmons for review and Broxton was quick to want to read it. Have you heard of Curious Critters? It is a children's book that has great photography throughout it... Of, you guessed it... Critters! Maybe it was the HUGE FROG on the cover, I don't know... We sat in the chair and read the book. He laughed at the pictures, as mommy made some interesting sounds when we saw a few of them! This book is awesome! I for one love the photography. It is simple. David Fitzsimmons takes pictures of these critters... White background. Up close and personal. Then, each page has the picture of the critter and a little paragraph about them. From their color to their name, all very interesting and quite funny. This would be AN AWESOME book for any nature lover. Let me change this.. This would be an AWESOME book for anyone. I hate bugs and critters, but I loved this book. Broxton did as well. As soo...

Let's Go To Volcano Valley - Dinosaur Train Book Review

Image
Tiny, Shiny, Don and Buddy are some of Broxton's favorite characters! We love watching Dinosaur Train and learning all about the different dinosaurs. What they looked like, what they ate... It is fun to learn when you do not realize you are learning! That was the case with our latest book review. I knew that we would love Let's Go To Volcano Valley, since it had the whole Dinosaur Train Crew in it. The brothers read the book and flipped the flaps with him in the beginning... Then we had daddy read it with him! I love that the book is brightly colored and of course (like I would expect anything less) beautifully illustrated! I like how the book is so interactive with the reader! It starts off with the family at the train station. Then, as each page turns, they tell you different thing to look for. You look for red plants for Ella... Look for striped fish to take to the picnic. You also get to look for different sized dinosaurs! My favorite part of the book is the last pages... T...

My Best Friend Abe Lincoln - Book Review

Image
I am not one for history, that is normally Marc's area. But, when I saw that there was a book out for children, I knew I wanted to add it to the ever growing library of Broxton's Books. My Best Friend Abe Lincoln by Robert L. Bloch is a great read with wonderful illustration. The book is actually an easy read and although it teaches about Abe Lincoln, it doesn't read like a textbook. We all know how hard those are to get into and enjoy, this just "flows." Broxton was actually sitting with Marc, but as I read it, he needed to get down and crawl in my lap to hold the book. In, My Best Friend Abe Lincoln , the book is told from the standpoint of Sam Harding, a fictional character created by Robert L. Bloch. Sam Harding tells of growing up in Indiana, setting up the area and the time frame for us to be introduced to Abe. As I said, it tells of Abe, without the boring textbook style writing. In this book, we learn of Abe and his ability to speak and entertain audie...

Bindi Irwin releases chapter book series

Image
I was excited to know that Bindi Irwin has ventured out, once again, to make chapter books! The first two were released in April, with more to follow. I know that Broxton is not into chapter books yet, but he will be one day... (and I am sure that some of you have children that are reading them now!) I loved seeing Bindi with her dad, so I wanted to read what she was starting now. (Remember, she is the daughter of Steve Irwin, of Crocodile Hunter fame) With Bindi , her mom Terri and her little brother Robert living at the Australia Zoo, all of her days are sure to be fun. But how to decide what to write about?! I love how the book starts with a Dear Diary page... That is just a sneak peak of what lies in the pages ahead! The first book in the series is: Trouble at the Zoo. This book tells of Bindi and the day she celebrated her birthday. (Let me tell you, this little girl. I know she makes her daddy proud! She chooses to host her birthday at the Zoo and the proceeds to go a diffe...

The Pesky Peanut - Book Review

Image
(Image from Amazon ) My grandaddy was a farmer his whole life. I remember getting peanuts and corn and all that yummy food fresh when I was growing up. So, I never really gave it any thought about people being allergic to peanuts... They had always been around and it just never crossed my mind! So, imagine my wonder when I had Broxton and they said just one of the reasons for not introducing peanuts early in life was because of peanut allergies. Thankfully for us, he is not allergic, but there are many people out there that are! I was happy to have the chance to review The Pesky Peanut Book and share it with you. The author of the book write it after dealing with peanut allergies with her son. Now, I hate that she had to deal with this, but at the same time, I am thankful that she wrote a book to share the information with all of us. The book starts with Kelly eating birthday cake... How something like a birthday cake could lead to the knowledge of this just yet again shows how much I...

Ballad of The Rag Man - Review

Image
With all the bullying going on around us these days... This is a perfect book to read with your child. I was able to review, Ballad of The Rag Man by Cynthia Gustavson . This book teaches all of us a very simple lesson. Do not judge a book by its cover. How can a book teach us that? The Ballad of The Rag Man is about a rag man that travels all over town. Picking up what others have deemed as trash. Just what does he do with what everyone no longer wants or needs? He puts them in his cart as he goes all over. Once he returns home, there are piles of others items that they no longer thought were of any value to them. The other character in the book is a little girl that gets rid of her teddy bear. Her well loved and rather worn out teddy bear. The Rag Man picks it up in his daily excursion. Of course, curiosity gets the best of the little girl, she has to know... So, she sneaks to see what he is doing. Judging him on outer appearances, she is a bit put off.. But once she follows, she see...
