Aloha Friday - Sunburn

I do not know about you....
BUT, it is HOT here! :)
Yes, summer is officially here and it is not going to be an easy one!

I can be thankful that I no longer work at my old job...
Out air was ALWAYS broken and it made it HOT there...
But enough rambling...

It is Friday, so Aloha to you all!
My question this week:

What is a tip that you use to help with the pain of sunburn?
As a redhead, I have used most of them...

My answer:
(This might be a shock to some of you)
Noxzema skin cream...
You know, the strong smelling cream you put on your face? For Acne?
Yep! You just lather it on...
Nice and thick... the burn will suck it all in...
Then, after about 5 or 10 minutes, get you a shower to get the smell...
It pulls the "burn" out!

Now, what about you?

Have a great weekend!

  1. Banana Boat makes an awesome Aloe Lotion!!! That rocks! Don't use it sparingly...be generous. Lather it on and then go to bed. It works like a charm!

  2. We use cold saline water and it works really good.

  3. O.m.g. I am so trying the Noxzema trick! I usually just suffer, I get so many being a redhead myself lol

  4. Pick Aloe and slice it and scrape it and slather it over your body. That's what I know from my country.

Or just do a milk bath

  5. Huh. I have never heard that one before. I will have to try it next time (yikes! yes, there will probably be a next time.) I usually just use aloe.

  6. I don't burn too easily, but my husband is a red head as well. His strategy is avoidance. Hats, SPF 50, shirts even while swimming and stay in the shade. He doesn't get burned very often now. We do keep an aloe vera plant in the kitchen and slather the fresh juice on the kiddos if they get red playing in the back yard.

  7. I have always used Aloe to cool down a burn.

  8. Generally i don't get sunburned.. my skin complexion absorbs the sun and gets me a nice dark tan... but my SIL is blond and has some oh-so-white-skin and i know that the only thing that calms her when she gets bad sunburns is yogurt.. on her skin yes... Then a cold bath:)
Happy Friday and here's my Aloha!

  9. We use aloe. I have a plant in my backyard and it really helps when the girls get sunburned.

  10. I forgot all about using Noxzema on sunburn! I haven't had a serious sunburn for several years; I usually just wash in cool water and apply Aveeno to minimize the peeling.

  11. LOL! I was going to say Noxzema - we have ALWAYS used it for sunburn since I was a child. I also like the spray Solarcain.

  12. We have found having allergies that require a lot of inside time helps prevent sun burn.

  13. i love using aloe-i keep it in the fridge in the summer and it stays nice and cold so its even more refreshing and soothing as it goes onto the hot sunburn!

  14. aloe lotion, I hate sunburns and try so hard to avoid them!

  15. Vaseline is what my mom used when we had 2nd degree burns as kids, seemed to work

  16. I am also a redhead that tends to burn no matter what I do. The most important thing is to make sure not to use anything that has an alcohol base in it. Many of the aloe creams/gels do and those may feel good at first, but dry out the skin and make things worse.

  17. Noxema- tried and true.

    Have a great Friday!

  20. I haven't had sunburn in a while because I try to lather up with sunscreen when I am out. The Noxzema skin cream sounds like a good plan if it does happen.

  21. Aloe lotion - but I'm so going to try your Noxzema trick the next time I get a sunburn! :)

  24. 4 out of 5 of us burn easily here, so we use LOTS of sunscreen and when that doesn't work, LOTS of aloe!!

  25. Yep, I found out about that green Aloe Lotion too one year and it got my blisters from Sunburn just fine. I keep the bottle in the frig so it's nice and cold when it goes on. Have a great weekend.

  26. I forgot all about the Noxema... that used to work when I was a kid. I've also used the aloe, but I keep it in the fridge because that makes it feel even better. Plus Solarcaine is very cooling as it has a topical anesthetic in it.
But I agree completely with Michelle, the best thing is avoidance... hats, sunglasses and a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to 30 (anything higher is really just wasting money).
