What In The??? Mother Knows Best

Are you KIDDING me?!
I have always wondered about several things I have heard about through the years...
But I will tell you this...
I have been flipping through the book, Mother Knows Best by Sue Castle and I am TOTALLY shocked by several of the things I read in there!

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Mother Knows Best?
The Truth About Mom’s Well-Meaning
(But Not Always Accurate) Advice
By Sue Castle

Ever wonder if not making your bed actually will make monsters move in underneath them? If you go in the pool just after eating, will you really get a cramp and drown?Mother Knows Best? The Truth About Mom’s Well-Meaning (But Not Always Accurate) Advice (Skyhorse Publishing, April 2012) is a must-have handbook bursting with hilarious facts and fiction as we put mothers’ wisdom to the test.  This book will have you laughing and crying as you questioning some of the commonly accepted notions you’ve been practicing for years … and your mother’s intelligence. Author Sue Castle takes some of mom’s most infamous pieces of advice and puts them to the test, including:

·         Will a glass of warm milk help you sleep?
·         Is chicken soup really the best cure for the common cold?
·         Does turning a light off for a few minutes use more energy than it saves?
·         If you pick up a baby every time she cries will she become spoiled?
·         If you cross your eyes, do they get stuck that way?
·         Are brown eggs healthier than white eggs?
·         And much more!

My Take On It:

The very first thing in the book:
Don't Cross Your Eyes, They'll Get Stuck That Way.
Let me just tell you... I never really thought it was true...
BUT, I for sure never tried it, just in case...  and yes, I have been known to say that too, just in case.  Well, just so you know, it is NOT TRUE.

Further on, I read :
Shaving Makes Your Hair, or Beard, Grow Back Thicker.
Now, I for sure thought that was true... I even told my little cousin to put off shaving her legs as long as she could, because once she started, it would grow back thicker and she wouldn't be able to just stop again...
Hmmm... It is NOT TRUE.  I found out that I lied to her!

Finally, a bit of truth...
Just so we all know that everything we were told were not ALL lies...
Carrots Are Good For Your Eyesite.
That is totally TRUE!!!!!!!!

This book was full of things I had heard, but never knew true/false...
But it also had other pieces of information that I had never even heard of...

I personally think it is a great read, even if it is just a few pages here and there!
