Previously unpublished Margaret Wise Brown.  Okay, now that I have your attention...
Margaret Wise Brown is the author of Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny.  (More than that, but those are the two that we know!)   Well, come to find out...  After she passed, it was found out that she had a treasure trove of unpublished works, just waiting to be shared with the world ! Luckily for us, it was allowed to be published --  but what is better is that she had music to go with these treasures and that is what we are blessed with now!!!
Goodnight Songs is a beautifully illustrated book with each of these songs on a two page spread.  There is also a CD included in a special flap on the front cover.
From Amy Gary - Editor of the Margaret Wise Brown Estate:
" As she listened to children go about their lives, she realized that they made up songs about whatever it was they were doing at the time.  She wanted to capture that spirit of a child's world in her songs the way she had in stories."

To be honest, I am so impressed with this book that it is not even funny!
Not only are we getting previously unpublished works...  and it is set to music... But one thing that makes it even better?  We get awesome illustrations on each song... each one from a different "award- winning picture book artists."  Tell me this isn't a great treasure to keep?

We don't have a CD player, so I had to play it on my laptop.  I put it on and the soothing voice I was greeted with immediately sent me to a calm and relaxing place.   I think that this would be nice to have playing in the background as you get your little one ready for bed and then you can snuggle up and look at the pages/listen to a few more before they drift off to sleep!    (Just be warned, it might make you sleepy too!)

  1. That's awesome that her material was allowed to be published. Goodnight Moon has been a family favorite here for as far back as I can remember.

  5. My kids love to be read to sleep, and the music would be a great bonus. We need some new material. They don't seem to mind the same old book, but I do!!
