I am not sure when school starts where you are, but here in Georgia, we have some schools that start back on August 3rd, some on August 7th and I am sure there are other dates too.  The point I am trying to make is that school is about to start here, so that means we need to get our things in gear and get organized and ready!
One thing that I think will be a great help to me this year?  The 2015-2016 Academic Planner from Order Out of Chaos.  We received one in the past, I am 99% sure I gave it to one of the boys to help them with their time management, but this bad boy here is going to be all mine!
No, Broxton doesn't have 9 million classes and what not, he is still in Elementary school, but I think it will be a benefit to try and keep us organized!   Just check it out!!!!

I love that the one sent to us is a gender neutral color.  Also, the fact that it is bright orange makes you see it and hopefully will not leave it behind on your desk!  It is a spiral bound one, so you can lay it flat for easier writing, or you can fold it over to be a one paged book.  They also have holes punched in, in case you want to add it to a 3 ring binder.

Once you open the book, you have  a Student Information section. (I already filled it out, so I am not going to show it to you, it just asks for your contact information... it asks for your name / address / email address/ phone number.  It also asks for your school name and number.)  I do like that they have a spread in there to show you pointers on how to get the most out of using your planner.  I believe that many kids (some adults too) do not have very good time management skills, so this would be great to read to make sure you are using it to the best of your ability.
Example - Write in shorthand (or texting) to make sure you don't miss what your teacher is saying.
Use sticky notes to remind yourself about events.
They have also included a 2 page spread showing the school year at a glance.  I will be using this to mark the days that school is out as well as early release days.

Then, each page has a section for your daily work that needs to be done (with a place to put a check mark once you have completed the assignment.)  There is also a bottom section on each day for you to add notes.

At the start of each month, you have a month at a glance and a page for any notes you might need for the upcoming month.

I feel that this book is very well thought out and organized. As I said, I plan on using it this year.  I think it will be great to keep up with all the events going on at Broxton's school, his work assignments, the sports he plays and then any appointments for Savannah once she arrives.

You can order yours now and be ready for when school starts where you are!

  2. This looks really great! There's something about actually writing down your activities and assignments, it just feels better to me than putting in my phone!

  4. Those are always pretty darn handy! I have a calendar I use on my computer for work, but I need to get in the habit of using a calendar at home more.

  6. I don't want school to start. I'm not even close to ready, and I won't be either. It's a little overwhelming this year. But we'll make do. A planner always helps. :)
