Short Trip to Dothan, Alabama @visit_dothan

Let me tell you about a little trip I took the kids on recently.
We had planned to go on 2 different vacations this year, but COVID had other plans.  We ended up taking a short over night trip, just to get a change of scenery for the kids and I... and lucky for us, my mom decided to join us!  I don't know of every going to Dothan and hanging out, but it was a fun little trip.

We loaded up and started our journey with a much needed family break planned.  We went not really knowing much about Dothan, but we wanted to see what it was all about.

Once we got to Dothan, we took a visit to the Botanical Gardens.  It was outdoors and we were the only people there, so it was great.  They were doing things on the honor system, so we paid at a cash box and was able to stroll around and enjoy at our own pace... It was hotter than I don't even know, so we didn't stay as long as I would have liked.  BUT .. it was beautiful.
I will be honest, there were lots of areas that were really dry and looked like they had been neglected... but overall, it was gorgeous.  There was a beautiful Rose Garden that had many different varieties.  There was a vegetable garden that showed many different vegetables that we eat daily.  For me, I was so excited to see the bridge (pictured above) I just wished the kids would have been dressed for photos!!!  So peaceful and relaxing.  I wish it would not have been so hot and we would have had a picnic pr something, it would have made for a great day!

The botanical gardens had plenty of places to take pictures and just to go and enjoy the beauty... If you plan to go, heads up... They even have a gate with the locks on it, where you can leave your lock.  (Google it if you don't know what I am talking about, pretty neat!)
After we left there, we rode around - THANK YOU AC IN THE CAR - to check out the murals all over town.  I really wish more towns would do murals, it is beautiful.  Another thing we did was tried to find the different peanuts around town.  I mean, honestly, these are small things that towns can do that get people going around town, in turn spending more money and more time in the area.  We had a great time and it was something fun for the whole family... all ages can enjoy!

So tell me, have you ever been to Dothan, Alabama?  Where is a good short trip for you?  Are you a fan of murals???

Stay tuned, I have another post for you about a great place to eat in Dothan!!!!
