Grab Em Snacks- Review

What do you munch on when you are hungry?
Veggies?
Fruits?
Chips?
Cookies?

I will admit, I munch on all of them.
Not the healthiest options, minus fruits and veggies..
But still, you just have to have your fix sometimes...

Luckily for us..
Broxton LOVES fruits and veggies!!!!

Recently, I was able to sample a variety of flavors from Grab Em Snacks.
Seeing that they were featured as a "snack of the day" on Rachael Ray made me want to try them even more... ( I LOVE RR!)

First of all, let me tell you...
Ha! Do not fall out of your seats, please...
I have no clue about Plantains.
I thought they were just bigger bananas!
I know, I know...
I am just being honest!
They look like them though...
Good thing I never bought some and tried to give one to Marc or Broxton!
(They are cooked before serving... unsuitable raw... )
You can read more about Plantains on the Grab Em Snacks site HERE.

Well, let me just tell you about Grab Em Snacks..
Geetha, the founder, wanted a healthier alternative to chips that are so popular here in the states. She spent her childhood growing up in India and Malaysia where the plantain chips were the snack food of choice...
Luckily for all of us, Geetha moved to the USA and as we can see...
She brought Plantain chips over for us to enjoy!

These gourmet plantain chips come in several great flavors...
Sea Salt
Red Chili
Black Pepper Spice
Chili Garlic
Jalapeño
Cinnamon Spice
Cajun Seasoning

We were able to review several flavors.
I am LOVING me the Sea Salt ones!
They seriously fill the "craving" of plain potato chips.
We also tried the Cinnamon ones...
I really enjoyed those as well, but my mom thought they could have used a little more cinnamon on them... She LOVES cinnamon and honestly, I think she can never have too much! :)
I personally thought they were great... A little bit more cinnamon would have only made them better...
Geetha even says that they are delicious crumbled up over ice cream....
That reminds me, I need to get a thing of ice cream to try this out! :)
(sounds great to me!)
As for the Chili Garlic -
I thought they were really hot and spicy... ( I do not like spicy AT ALL, so it might not be that bad to other people.) I did notice that if you eat them as a snack, they are super hot to me... but if you eat them as a side (like with a sandwich or something) they are not as bad... Maybe it is the added other items that kills the heat?
The Cajun ones were pretty spicy to me as well but not as much so as the chili garlic.
The black pepper was pretty good as well and they would probably be GREAT mixed with the salt ones.
I asked Marc to try them and give me his opinion...
(Especially on the Cajun ones!)
He HATES the thicker crunchier chips, so this was a stretch...
He actually talked about how much he enjoyed the flavor.
He was expecting more heat on the Cajun ones as well and thought that the chili garlic heat should be intensified on the Cajun ones. If you are looking for a Cajun FLAVOR, these are great... but the heat you would expect was not there in his opinion.

Did I tell you that Broxton loves them?
Yes! He does, I did not give him any of the Cajun or Chili Garlic (Marc wanted me to because he did not think they were hot, but I said I didn't want him to get them since I thought they were spicy! LOL) I would let him have a couple and he just ate them up like they were made of toys and crayons! Ha ha!

Would we get these again?
Most definitely!

I think besides a healthier option for a snack...
This would be nice as part of a hostess gift.
(Hello, keep in mind as Christmas parties are not that far in the future!)
Also, if you are the kind that is part of a "Welcome Wagon" for the neighborhood, this would be a nice gift to give as it is truly a "Gourmet" snack.
