#HolidayGiftGuide Kicks off NOW - Christmas Classics

You can't start off a Gift Guide without trying to get into the Holiday Spirit!
That is why, today, I am highlighting a little taste of Christmas for us all!

Today:

The Original Christmas Classics on Blu-Ray.

Up until last year, I had never seen the movie, "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town."
I know, I know...

Marc saw it on and wanted Broxton and I to watch it.

It was rather cute, as we started a family tradition without really knowing it.

Think about it, it was our first Christmas as the 3 of us, since Marc was deployed Broxton's first Christmas...

I am glad that "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" is in this set, as we now have it to watch together every year!
Fred Astair is the voice of the Postman/Narrator. Mickey Rooney is the voice of Kris Kringle/Santa Claus. I love they way this is presented as the postman answers questions as they relate to Santa and we get to see the story in a whole different perspective.

This set also included Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman ... and also features, Frosty Returns!

All of these movies were released in the mid 1960's-1970's.

I love how basic they are, but yet are still so captivating all these years later!
It is a 2 disc set, that I know will be sure to delight people of all ages.

It is from "back in the day", not a newer movie...
Meaning, all the fancy graphics and animation out today are not present in these.
Truly a classic that is great to start traditions in your house.

My only suggestion?
Don't put this as a gift under the tree...
Open it now, pop some popcorn and start making memories!!!!

Fun Time Inside?

Broxton loves being outside...
We have been trying to enjoy the most out of this nice weather, but we also try and find fun indoor activities as well!

I was so happy to receive a box of craft project products for us to explore with from craftprojectideas.com

Just look at the goodies that were in there:
There are so many things for us to do in there, I really need to invest in a decent sized box for our craft items!!!!

Besides loving the box of goodies, I also really like their site!
You can look at it and come up with different projects.
They also have a section (coming soon) where you can put your child's age and the season you want to work on and they will help you with a project.

The other day we made a silly monster :
Another day, we got the beads out that they sent us...
We worked on our alphabet:
Worked on our colors (and counting):
We even worked on our shapes for a bit:
(I love to hear Broxton say triangle)
There are going to be more fun crafts we make, but this was just a sneak peak at what all they have!!!

Head on over to Wal-Mart and pick up supplies for your craft box now!

Do you have any suggestions for making a craft box to hold all your supplies?

Aloha Friday - Halloween

It's Friday!
I am back around for an Aloha Friday kind of weekend!!!!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

So, my question this week:
What has everyone in your house decided to go as for Halloween?

My answer:
I will go as myself, that is scary enough! :)
Marc will be working, if not... I am going to beg him to go as a soldier, I know... Far stretch! LoL, that is why I am hopeful that he will "dress up" and go with us..
Broxton, well he is going as a boxer!!!!
You can click here to see him ready to go!

Also, don't forget :
My Holiday Gift Guide Starts October 1st.

Courageous Hits Theaters Tomorrow 9/30

Have you heard of the movie, Courageous?
It is from Sherwood Pictures, the church that brought us all "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof."

Once again, it was filmed in my hometown of Albany, Georgia.
I am excited that such great things are coming out of Albany...
So, I wanted to share the press release with you:

Film Opens Nationwide September 30th
CULVER CITY, CA (Sept. 29, 2011) – TriStar Pictures and Sherwood Pictures are pleased to announce that COURAGEOUS, the latest installment from Sherwood Pictures, has reached more than $2 million in pre-sales ticketing in anticipation of Friday’s national release.

Pre-sales numbers for COURAGEOUS more than double that of Sherwood Pictures’ most recent film, Fireproof, which opened at $6.8 million and went on to gross more than $33.4 million at the box office.

COURAGEOUS is the fourth release from the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The first release was Flywheel (2003), followed by Facing The Giants (2006) and Fireproof (2008). With each release, Sherwood Pictures continues to entertain moviegoers with films that affect lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope.

“Such great advance momentum reaffirms that the topic of fathers is universal and thatCOURAGEOUS touches a nerve,” Sherwood Pictures Executive Producer Michael Catt said. “Present or absent, fathers shape lives and we’re excited to use drama, adventure, humor . . . to inspire men to the high adventure of full-on parenting.”

COURAGEOUS is the story of four police officers with one calling: to serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, the men are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. With God’s help, they struggle to be able to find a way to serve and protect those that are most dear to them.COURAGEOUS is rated PG-13 (for some violence and drug content) and runs 129 minutes.

***** I was not asked to share this, but I wanted to...
Will you go see it? *****

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October

Just got this as an email...

Also, I just joined the Pink Army on Facebook...

Won't you join me?!

It's for Breast Cancer Awareness!

$25k Breast Cancer Awareness Month
challenge grant to Mayo Clinic

203,000+ Facebook Fans Join

“Pink Ribbon Army” in
major social media push for

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

TheBreastCancerSite.com, largest health and wellness page on Facebook, creates new badge application to build awareness and raise funds

Seattle: TheBreastCancerSite.com is observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by creating the “Pink Ribbon Army,” a new badge application to raise awareness and fight the disease which afflicts millions of women around the world.

With more than 2.6 million fans, TheBreastCancerSite.com has the largest health and wellness page on Facebook. More than 203,000 Facebook users have already signed up to join the Pink Ribbon Army, creating a major head start towards an overall goal of one million members.

“Every two minutes, another woman is diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Lisa Halstead, Chief Operating Officer of TheBreastCancerSite.com. “The Pink Ribbon Army will harness the power of social media to fight this disease, with early detection, treatment and research.”

When the Pink Ribbon Army reaches one million, said Halstead, TheBreastCancerSite.com will donate $25,000 to the Mayo Clinic for breast cancer site research.

“Since the average Facebook user has more than 100 friends, mobilizing the Pink Ribbon Army on a million Facebook pages has the potential to reach an enormous audience with a message of hope,” said Halstead. “It’s an ambitious goal – but we’re optimistic because we’re more than 20% there, with Breast Cancer Awareness Month starting in just a few days.”

Clicks, donations and purchases from TheBreastCancerSite.com funded more than 6,900 mammograms in 2010 for women who were among the working poor, the homeless or the uninsured. “When we catch breast cancer early, we can beat it,” said Halstead. “But for women who can’t afford mammograms, the disease can be a death sentence. That’s why support from visitors to TheBreastCancerSite.com is so important.”

"We’re grateful for TheBreastCancerSite.com’s support for our research," says Edith Perez, M.D., deputy director, Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. "We are trying to individualize the treatment of breast cancer so that therapies are much more tailored to each patient and to the genes that are driving breast cancer in each patient. I am confident we will reach that goal, but we need philanthropy to get us there."

Facebook users will receive a free Pink Ribbon pin when they post the badge on their home page, and a free Pink Ribbon bracelet when they recruit ten friends to the Pink Ribbon Army. A “facepile” application shows users which of their Facebook friends has joined the cause.

Anyone can join by visiting Facebook and searching “Pink Ribbon Army.” A link to the new Facebook app will also appear on the TheBreastCancerSite.com

Members of the Pink Ribbon Army will be invited to visit TheBreastCancerSite.com, where they can click on the site’s pink home page button to fund mammograms in communities across the United States, in cooperation with the National Breast Cancer Foundation. A portion of all purchases from TheBreastCancerSite.com store also goes to fund mammograms.

In 2007, visitors to TheBreastCancerSite.com responded to a special challenge to fund an ultrasound machine at McCord Hospital in Durban, South Africa, enabling physicians and staff to provide timely and accurate mammograms for women in Durban and surrounding KwaZulu-Natal province.

Pink Ribbon products available at TheBreastCancerSite.com store include bracelets, baseball hats, travel mugs, casual shorts, rain boots and two-tone fleece jackets. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase offers crucial early detection of breast cancer, by providing free mammograms to women who otherwise could not afford them.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!! Costume Supercenter Review

It is almost time for Halloween!
That being said, have you decided what you are going to be this year?
I used to dress up when I worked, but I didn't dress up last year.
Last year, Broxton went as Elvis...
I loved it and so did the few people that saw him.

This year, we wanted something more like his personality...
After looking and looking, we thought that the Lil Champ Costume was perfect!
If you have visited here before, you might have seen the photo's of Broxton and daddy play boxing.
It is their father / son bonding time and I love to watch the two of them!
Broxton with his "mean face."

So, do you see why we decided to go with this?
I started my search looking for sports costumes for kids.
As soon as I saw it, I knew it was meant to be!!!!

This really is cute, as it seems to cover it all!
You get the muscle suit with the boxing shorts...
It also comes with a "champion" belt (very lightweight, so no need to worry!)
The gloves are red gloves with stuffing in them, to make them look fat like regular boxing gloves.
They even include the robe to go with it and complete the look.

We got Broxton the Toddler 3-4 size.
As I was worried with him being so tall that it would not work if I got the 2t.
This fits great, although the robe is a bit long.
I will just safety pin it to the length we need...
But, it would be neat if they made the robe with a couple snap buttons to adjust the length.
Honestly though, that was the only thing I would change and it really isn't a big deal!
Also, you just throw on your own sneakers to complete the outfit for trick or treating!!!
No need to worry about having to go and find shoes to complete the outfit!!!
I could not be more pleased and I know he is going to be so cute trick or treating this year!!!!

Remember, please follow Costume Supercenter on Facebook and Twitter.

So, what is everyone in your house going as for Halloween this year?

Fall Television - Recap

So I said I was going to be blogging about premier week...
Then, my computer decided that was not going to happen.
For some reason, every single time I would get ON line, it would decide to kick me OFF line.
Over and over again...
Days upon days!
Talk about frustrating.

That being said, I wanted to highlight on a couple that I did watch and get your feedback on any other ones....

Once again, I watched Two and a Half Men last night...
Now, it is starting to make sense as to how Alan is going to be living there...
I am not liking that Jake hasn't been around too much.
He is just so dumb that it is funny at times...
He makes me laugh a good amount, so I hope that they start to give him more lines.
Bertha had me cracking up with her thoughts, as always!!!
And the wife of Ashton Kutcher's character? I know her face, so I guess I need to google her...

Then there was 2 Broke Girls!
That show is just too funny, but it wasn't as funny last night.
I guess it can not be hysterical all the time... but I still laugh.
I am just wondering the directions that they are going to go with this..
The creepy guy that works in the kitchen is actually pretty funny, although I do not really get the guy that sits at the front door.
Either way, last night they dealt with CarolinE crossing over her boundaries...
This should make for a cute and funny show.

Last week also saw me watching Whitney.
The previews for it were pretty funny, so I wanted to see what this was all about.
This Whitney chick, well... She is pretty out there!
I am not so sure if I will be a regular watcher of this show, as I am not sure what else comes on at that time...
Basically, Whitney and her boyfriend of 3 years live together and seem to go to weddings all the time.
The boyfriend is the marrying kind, but Whitney is scared of the whole idea.
Of course, the show opens with them going to a wedding.
First, her boyfriend has to comment on her clothing of choice...
Once they are there, Whitney does a few things wrong...
(You know, drops phone in the line as the bridesmaids are walking down... but then there was that small one of digging into the cupcake CAKE before the bride and groom)
All of that leads up to discussions on how relationships dry up at times, so Whitney wants to try and spice things up...
Which lands her boyfriend in the ER !!!
As I said, it is funny, but not sure I will be a regular, need to see how it goes!
Please tell me you saw this!
This is for sure going to be one that we watch weekly.
So far? AWESOME!
Marc watched and enjoyed it as well, so it will be nice to have a show we watch together.
This has Poppy Montgomery as the lead character, Carrie.
She is one of those people that can remember everything.
Like photographic memory.
We learn that she goes to casino's and basically counts cards, hustling and winning the money.
(She has already been kicked out of several casino's already.)
During the day, she works (I think she volunteers, not sure) at a nursing home.
As the show goes on, we learn that she is a former cop.
She quit the force, as the emotional stress was too much for her to deal with.
She teams up with an ex (boyfriend who she also worked with) to help him with a case...
Also, as the show continues, we learn that she keeps having flashbacks of a girl dead in the park.
We eventually learn that is her sister...
The ONE thing that her memory will not let her see is who it was that killed her sister years ago.
That alone is what makes the emotional stress to much...
She can try and solve these cases for others, but can not solve the one for her own!
At the end of the show, we find out that the reason she works at the nursing home is to take care of her own mom.
I didn't think of the irony of it all, until I read the website...
She can remember EVERYTHING, yet her moms is suffering Alzheimer's and can remember NOTHING, to the point of not even knowing that Carrie is her daughter!
As I said, this is one of our must see's now...
I can not wait for tonights episode!

This was just plain cute!
It has Zooey Deschanel as Jess.
Long story short, she comes home to find her boyfriend CHEATING ON HER!
So, she moves out...
Into an apartment with 3 guys.
(Selling point for her to be the new roomie... she has models as friends!)
She is a bit off, as in awkward...
She sings to herself (about herself and anything and every thing else... ALL the time.!)
They are helping her get over the breakup... Giving her key points for a rebound, from a guys perspective.
I can not wait for this show to come on again..
I laughed and said "awe!" just a few times too many for the premier!!!

So, what did you watch last week?
What do you plan to watch this season?

***** By posting my thoughts, I am entered to win a gift card. *****

@FyrFlyz Review and #Giveaway

Want to know a really cool toy that I know is going to be a hit this year?
Fyrflyz!!!!

Thanks to MomSelect, we were able to review them.
So, what is Fyrflyz?
Well, basically...
It is a light up toy on strings...
This is us playing with it... We have not learned any tricks yet...
There are 13 tricks to learn and they are for ages 8 and up.
We didn't follow the 8 and up though...
Broxton LOVED it..
Granted, the strings were too long for him to do tricks (maybe that was the 8 and up sign?)
But, we played... and Marc loved it, especially hearing the excitement in Broxton every time we started playing with it!
Daddy showing Broxton how to hold it:
Daddy and Broxton working together to get it spinning!
See how this can be hours and hours of fun?!

One lucky winner is going to win a fyrflyz of their own...
Question is, will you keep it for yourself or give it as a gift?
