I think we have decided that we have a slight obsession with Pumpkin Patches this year... The weather has been PERFECT and what better way to spend a weekend than outside with friends?? Not too long ago, we decided to have an "open playdate" and basically asked any of our friends with kids if they wanted to join us...  We were able to get a discounted rate for everyone and we headed to a little gem tucked away in Cobb County.  Powder Springs to be exact!   It is called Corn on the Cobb (AKA Still Family Farm) and we were made aware of it last year... It is a family owned and operated place and it is a days worth of fun!!!!
Walk on up and get your bracelet.  Once you have your bracelet, you are in for the day.  You can even leave and go home (if you want to watch a football game, or if your littlest one needs to go take a nap)  then just head back for more fun... As long as you have your bracelet on.  It is $15 per person to enter * Kids 4 and under are free,* but you can also get a season pass for $25.
Once inside there are lots of activities for the kids...
The Kiddie Climb was a big hit for big and little kids... Even some of the parents were sliding down with their kiddos having a blast!

Another activity?  Rubber Duck Racing!   They had these water pumps put up (I think there are 4 on each side) and you pump the water... the faster you pump, the faster your duck goes... They had a blast on this one... (Make sure you push their sleeves up, or they WILL end up with wet sleeves...  They have no care for pushing their hands all in the water to grab their duck to win!)
The highlight for ALL the kids?
The kiddie Zipline.  If you went last year, you will remember they only had one... Well, they have added an additional one and it makes for lots of fun.  You can go against your buddy to see who gets to the end first, or you can just take turns... I believe Broxton and his buddies had to have gone on that thing at least a million and seven times.. Maybe more, but I lost count!
This is the PERFECT height for little ones that might be too nervous to ride the bigger ones (or maybe they have moms that are too nervous, not sure! Just saying....)  This is great and provides for lots of enjoyment... Be warned you will more than likely hear "Just ONE more time, PLEASE"  as you try to move away from this activity!

If you are ANYTHING like me... Port-O-Potty's are NOT my thing... So, when I saw that they had ACTUAL bathrooms, that got a big A +++  in my book.... That means it is okay to return.  I know, that should not be a make or break thing, but I am not a fan and this was a big deal to me.  They built actual bathrooms!    Not sure if it is a big deal to you, but wanted to bring the attention to it for others that might be concerned ;)
If you were able to visit Corn On the Cobb last year, you might remember their Scarecrow, Poe.  Well, he is back again this year to watch over things... but they added a few more for us to enjoy.  From one on a skateboard to one that has fallen in the haystack, you are sure to have great photo opportunities for friends / family.
If you are getting ready to head on out, make sure you check out the selection of Pumpkins and flowers that they have available for sale.  Also, make sure you take a traditional pumpkin patch photo before you leave!   Remember, it is all about "Making Memories" and this is a good one!!!! (They also have old tractors on display, perfect for photos!)
From a hayride to the Zipline, Kiddie Climb to Rubber Duck racing... You are sure to have a blast.  Don't forget to check out the Corn Maze before you leave... They have a "popcorn maze" for the little's and then a corn maze for everyone else.    Do you see my sweet little boy lost in fun??????
All in all, we had a great time.  It did end up being a chilly day, so some friends did not want to be out in the weather, but we still had fun.  If you are looking for a great way to spend the day (and support local families) then make sure you check out Corn on the Cobb.  If you have been in the past, I will warn you now - there is NO PUMPKIN TOSS this year... (that was a MAJOR disappointment to us, so I did want you to know...)    But ... This is a great way to spend the day OUTSIDE, playing and with friends!!!
Hope to see you there soon... We will be back!

Although I have a son, we were so excited to hear the news that Disney On Ice was presenting FROZEN and it was headed to Atlanta...    A friend of ours has a little girl that is a huge Anna / Elsa fan, so we invited them to join us for a great night of fun!

I will start with saying " MAKE SURE YOU ARE THERE AND IN YOUR SEATS BEFORE THE SHOW STARTS!!!"   Luckily for us, we had already purchased our drinks and popcorn and were seated ready for the show when we heard "5 minutes until showtime."  We were ready!!!

Why do you want to be there on time????

Because you do not want to miss a minute of the show!!!!

We had a great time.  I loved that it was just like the movie, as far as the story of the girls.. but so much more to keep boys interested in it too!  They had the trolls...  (Bit of a fixer upper!)  All of the hit songs were included!    I noticed that the moms (and dads)  were singing and dancing along just as much as the kids!   It was a great way to interact and lets be real... Who doesn't love Disney????

If you have the chance to attend the show, make sure you do!  You will love it!!!

Although "chapter books" are a bit mature for Broxton, we still were happy when the Captain America books from Disney Publishing showed up in the mail!  I am not sure if you have to keep a reading log for how much you read to / with your child... but these were fun for us.  Each night, we would discuss if we were going to read 1-2 or 3 chapters... and then we would snuggle up and read them, logging the minutes for his school.    I love that although they are chapter books, they break things up with illustrations (and in The Secret Files book, they even have photos from the movie!) Both of these books would make great additions for the holidays... Either something to read on road trips over the holidays, or under the tree!

Paperback 144 pages  Ages 6-8
Steve Rogers woke up in the 21st century and to a world full of new modern technology and changes.  He’s still not comfortable about his new life except when he is Captain America.  When S.H.I.E.L.D. learns HYDRA agents are on the rise and threatening the world’s safety, Nick Fury calls on Steve to suit up and put an end to HYDRA’s evil plans.  But even the courageous Captain America isn’t ready for HYDRA’s new leader, Armin Zola, Cap’s old foe resurrected as a powerful robot, and his plan to build a robotic army of Super-Soliders known as The Tomorrow Army to take over the world and destroy Captain America and SHEILD once and for all. Outmatched, Steve must now rely on help from others-namely Black Widow and Hawkeye-to face the thing he doesn’t understand: a techno-villain who is twisting modern technology to his own evil purposes.  The world’s only hope is the courageous Captain America! Marvel chapter books are the perfect next steps for readers who have grown up on our World of Reading titles.  These stories are character-driven tales in which much of the action-packed scenes unfold in colorful, fully-illustrated sequences, while the character and story development is conveyed in the clean, simple exposition that’s perfect for young readers.

Paperback 144 pages Ages 9-12
Steve Rogers, known to the world as Captain America, continues his affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury and the Avengers.  But Steve struggles to fit in the modern world, and now his past will come back to haunt him . . .  Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier continues the big-screen adventures of Super-Soldier Captain America, as he battles with modern times and villains that threaten the safety of his country…and even the world!

Yeah, so that one time I wanted to make it seem like I new what I was talking about...   Broxton was so excited to go and see the new Star Wars Rebels movie.  (We were able to go to an advanced screening of it where they had a few activities beforehand.)  I woke up that morning all excited for him --- and then I made my mistake.  I said something about " Daddy said he saw the Death Star on the way to work... Hurry up and lets go and maybe we can see it too!"  His response was something about " Mom, the Death Star has been blown up.  Dad did not see that"  that moment was when I realized to stop trying to get cool points with my knowledge, since I knew nothing!
Anyways, he was excited, so there was really no need to get him worked up.  He was up and ready and even wanted to make a sign for them!   We hurried to the theater and when we walked in, he was BEYOND THRILLED that he immediately saw Boba Fett.
They had face painters, a balloon artist and a few troopers there.  To say it was a great start to our day would be an understatement, so I will just say that he had an AMAZING day!

Of course we had to get a picture by the movie poster.  I tell you know, if they had given them out, he would have it hanging in his room as we speak.. but at least we were able to snap a picture by one!

Before heading into the movie, he was able to get his face painted...  he got a red light saber and even got his photo with the troopers.  (He wanted to make a sign, it reads " DARTH VADER IS AWESOME!  * Storm Troopers are too!)   Not sure why (or where ) the need for a sign, but when your 5 year old "NEEDS" a sign that day, it just has to be done!  (Note the red paper too!)
Welcome to the Dark Side!

So - the movie started and he was in his own world.  I really thought it was cute, but I will remind you I know nothing of Star Wars.  There were lots of exciting scenes and it kept his attention the whole time... Even WITHOUT Popcorn!
I got my dates messed up- if you see the sign, it says on Disney DVD October 14th...But they have been showing it on Disney XD.  It premiered the other night... We had plans.. but guess what?  It comes on tonight!  So we WILL be watching it then!!!!

I know that some people are totally against their kids watching tv, but we find the shows to be cute... and sometimes a good way to teach him things!    Some are for pure enjoyment though and I remember Babar from ages ago!   We received a couple DVD's for review, but haven't had time to watch them... Kindergarten can be busy!!!    I will tell you that every single time he sees the Geronimo Stilton DVD, he is eager to watch it... As it is brand new to us both!!!  Here are a few new titles to keep in mind when you start making your Christmas list!

After 80 celebrated years, Jean de Brunhoff's iconic tales of Babar gets a CGI update with BABAR AND THE ADVENTURES OF BADOU.  Set amongst the lush jungle surroundings of Celesteville, this Dove-approved series, which currently airs on Disney Junior, centers around Babar's 8-year-old grandson, Badou, as he grows up, makes new friends and immerses himself in exciting adventures!

BABAR AND THE ADVENTURES OF BADOU: GONE WILD, the franchise's debut DVD from Entertainment One, features nearly 90 minutes of fun-filled escapades across 8 episodes starring Badou, a "one elephant stampede" bursting with a sense of adventure.  Along with new jungle friends, including Chiku the monkey, Monroe the porcupine,  Zawadi the zebra and Jake the fox, Badou solves mysteries and plunges into one fun-filled adventure after another in every corner of the palace, the jungle and beyond.  Of course, King Babar is never far away when his grandson needs his help and guidance.
Sure to inspire, engage and entertain a new generation of fans, BABAR AND THE ADVENTURES OF BADOU speaks to diversity, tolerance and the importance of a strong family bond with fun and meaningful stories about friendship, family and growing up.

When Geronimo Stilton, the most famous New Mouse City journalist, receives a 40-year-old letter that contains part of a map and a puzzling set of clues, he can't help but investigate.  Such is the adventurous life of everyone's favorite mouse hero, who also happens to be celebrating 10 years in print as part of Scholastic's smash book series!

GERONIMO STILTON: GOING DOWN TO CHINATOWN, an all-new DVD from Entertainment One, features over 90 minutes of madcap entertainment across four action-packed, laugh-filled episodes from the animated series.  Episodes starring Geronimo and pals -- including his younger sister Thea, cousin Trap, favorite nephew Benjamin and sometimes Aunt Sweetfur -- also include "Tea Story," which finds Geronimo's latest manuscript, 'The History of Tea', in the paws of the wrong mouse; "Hypno Tick Tock" in which the intrepid, hard-working author and editor of "The Daily Rodent" suddenly finds himself allergic to the word "work"; and, "Clean Sweep", in which New Mouse City is beset by a curious series of robberies in the most popular shopping district in town.
Exciting capers, hilarious hijinks and far-flung antics abound in this Dove approved DVD perfect for the entire family!
