It is so hard to find a great gift for several people in my family.  I admit that I am not the easiest to buy for either, but I can't help it.  When I am looking for gifts (for those on my list as well as to put on my list for people that are asking) I try to think of something special.  I want it to mean something and that is hard to do at times.
I was recently introduced to a company called " from you to me" that makes beautiful journals.  Now, you might be thinking, " I don't need any stinking journal!"  but when you see this book, I am pretty sure your mind will change.
They have journals for moms, dads, grandparents, kids, cooks and more!   I want to tell you about two that grabbed my attention:
This journal is a book for you to give to the person in the Dear part.. (like above, this particular book is to give to your mom for her to answer about herself and then give it back to you.)  They also have books for other people as well.  This is a hard bound book that has plenty of space to answer each question.  The book is filled with questions such as wanting to know about the time and place of their birth.  It also asks about chores they did that are no longer necessary. ( I thought that was pretty neat!)  It even asks for happiest memories and what they would do if they won the lottery. This journal has a little of this and a little of that.  Each question is at the top of the page and then has the whole bottom left blank.  I am still torn on if I like it or not that the paper has no lines.  On the one hand, I like that it isn't lined, so you are not pressured to fill the page.  Then, on the other hand, I know I write at a slant, so lined paper will help me write neater.  The page opposite the question page is left blank.  You can use it to add photos, drawings or even write more if you would like.  There is no pressure to answer all the questions (it even says so in the front of the book!)
I am totally in love with the Our Story Journal!  I got one for Broxton, but now I see I need to get one for Savannah as well.  This book is full of illustrations and prompts for you to fill out each page.  The great thing about this book?  You don't do it all at once.  This is a book you work on for just a little each year and then you give it to your son / daughter on their 18th birthday!  This has area's for things such as ailments that year, adventures that you would like to take in the upcoming year, hopes and dreams for the next year.  I think it is adorable and sure to be a great gift for a mom / dad to be!

I was really impressed with the quality of the books!  I love that they are hard cover, I love that they don't appear to be cheaply made and each book also comes with a ribbon in it to serve as its bookmark!     Let me know, do you keep a journal?
Make sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

A bit ago I shared a new DVD featuring The Miz from the WWE.  It is called Santa's Little Helper and while I didn't think the acting was amazing (I hate to admit that I have never been a huge fan of The Miz) it did have a great story line. Truthfully, I don't see the fan base that they have (WWE's The Miz and Paige)  really commenting on the acting... (My son thought it was a great movie) but I did want you aware that it will not being winning any awards anytime soon.  Anyways...
Santa's Little Helper has The Miz as the bad guy, IMAGINE THAT!!!!   He is a business man that has so much to learn! He ends up being selected to be "Santa's Helper" but there is an elf that thinks she is better suited for the job... She IS an ELF after all!!!
Watch the movie to see what all happens!!!

One winner will win a copy of Santa's Little Helper.

When you are six years old, it is pretty easy to name different things you want to put on your Christmas list. Actually, his list really isn't that long at all this year, (surprised me!)  but it was pretty specific.  He wants toy guns! Imagine that, all the little ones that I know love pretend play like that.  He actually used to have a water gun type thing for the bathtub, but I made him get rid of it, since it was making more of a mess than I was prepared for!
Well, I did not want to get a gun that he was going to want to be shooting all over the house, but I think that Santa might have found a pretty good idea for him!

Bug Attack from the ZURU product line!!!!   It is a rapid fire blaster that comes with 8 soft dart type ammo rounds.  (The blaster holds 6 at a time, so you have 2 extra for reloading.)  You simply pull back the orange tab (seen at the top back, in the above photo.)  then you pull the trigger and it releases it!   Simple, yet powerful!  I love that you are shooting bugs with this one, so there is no issue with pointing it at the wrong object.
The Bug Blaster comes with 2 bugs in the original set.  You can purchase extra ones if you would like.  I think these bugs are just too funny.  I tried to put them on our wall to take a picture for you guys, but they move too fast!  I think this is great and I bet that Broxton is going to have a blast (no pun intended) playing with this!

These are sold at select stores, so make sure to click the WHERE TO BUY button on the site to see where you can purchase them at!  What is on your little ones Christmas list this year?

We normally have the TV on for at least back ground noise at all times when we are home. I love it because at the most random times, I see that Broxton is watching and picking up something new and that makes it so exciting.  it is more than just entertainment, it is educational too!
Check out two new titles from PBS that does just that:

I am still fairly new to Odd Squad, but I know that Broxton LOVES watching this show and it is teaching him math.  His teachers all talk about how well he does in math, so it can't be hurting him to see this one!

I know that Savannah is still a bit young, but I remember Broxton used to enjoy watching Word World, to see that they make the show with words in the illustrations, well that just amazes me and I love it.  Building Readers?  I think so!

I have loved PBS for some time now.  The programming they share with us is always fun and educational and honestly, if I am going to have tv on for "background noise" I like when this is the "noise" we get to hear and then learn from!

Has the world of YouTube and Minecraft and all that crazy stuff entered your house yet? Do you have a son (or daughter) that is in elementary school and talks about this all the time?  I know I am not alone, since I hear it 24/7 at my house and I hear ALL the kiddo's talking about it when I am at the school visiting.  It is crazy how things spread and become so popular for youngsters these days!!!

It seems like it was just last year he was getting into watching these different You Tube Video's of all this minecraft stuff... Here we are now with him seeing the commercials for the Tube Heroes (the people on the videos he watches) and now he thinks he just has to have it all!   (He did recently get one of the DANTDM shirts and to say he has worn it once or twice is an understatement!)
Please tell me you have heard of this....  Tube Heroes - Your Favorite Digital Celebrities!
Broxton has a favorite with DAN TDM.  Now, I if I can find a way to have Dan TDM call and talk to Broxton, I might just win the mom of the century award!   FOR REAL.  It is that serious!!!!    Side note, he has been a very hard one to find in stores, let me tell you, we have been looking!
This figure comes with his bone, club and shield.
FROM THE TUBE HERO SITE:
CavemanFilms Bio:

CavemanFilms has many super powers to draw from and protect his subterranean kingdom. He can burrow at lightning speed, seeming to appear out of nowhere and be everywhere. His loyal subjects, that he calls "Dwellers" are devout and follow his every command. He can also summon the animals of the deep woods to his side. Wolves, Bears and every other of nature's beasts will come to his aid when needed. He wields a mighty club made of indestructible petrified Mammoth bone.
This figure comes with Jerry Slime, Slime Sword and his Shield.
From the TUBE HERO SITE:
CaptainSparklez Bio:
The fastest Tube Hero of all. CaptainSparklez can split the atoms inside him, becoming pure energy. He is able to teleport from place to place, absorbing damage and dealing it back to his foes. Joined at all times by his trusted companion Jerry who has some super powers of his own. He can morph into any shape he can imagine allowing him to transform into CaptainSparklez' mythical Slime Sword!

Now let me warn you...
They have many different "heroes" for you to choose from.  Then, once you narrow down what hero will make the faces light up this holiday, you need to choose what actual product you want.  You can go with the action figures like the ones pictured above, or you can see about getting a plush figure. CaptainSparklez actually has the slime sword you can purchase too.  As I said, it keeps expanding, so make sure you take a good look to see what exactly you want to purchase!!!  I know if you have children into this as much as mine, you will be putting smiles on faces when they open this up this holiday!

When you have a daddy that is military, it seems like you are naturally drawn to it as well, at least that is how it seems at our house.  For as long as I can remember we have had ARMY men around and when we were introduced to the Lil' Troops Line from Party Animal a while back, I knew that it would eventually end up in our arsenal of toys!   I just did not know how much he would love them and that he would treat them differently from the other ARMY men he already has.
We have a few of the soldiers, but when I saw that they would be releasing them in Collectible Sets, I just knew that would be loved if unwrapped under the tree this year!   Lucky for us, we were given the chance to review them, so when Christmas arrives, I know I will have a happy little boy!!!!!   The sets they have are ALPHA Squad and BRAVO Squad.

Read more about them here:
Lil’ Troops are the ultimate collectible military action figures officially licensed by the U.S. Army. Each figure stands at 3 tall and comes with a non-violent accessory such as the American flag, night vision goggles, or water canteen, etc. A portion of each LilTroops sale also goes to support to U.S. Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs.

As I mentioned, Broxton has loved the ones we have already.  This would make for a great gift, or even a cute little treat to hide in the branches of the Christmas Tree.  Talk about a fun thing to wake up to see!   When kids seem to be "online" so much these days, it is nice to see the excitement when they play with the toys that excite their creativity and imagination.
I can not tell you the times we have had the soldiers playing with the cars and trains and even hanging out on lego bases!    Let their creativity expand with great gifts like this!

Math, Memorization and MONKEYS UP!!! #GiftGuide

As I mentioned before how Broxton is into board games right now, I found another game that I hope Santa brings him!!!  The game is Monkeys Up and it is a fun game that can be played in a group, or individually.    The great thing about this game is that it uses numbers and luckily he is all about math these days!!!
Please note that it says " FLIP'EM, SWITCH'EM and STEAL'EM"  What gamer doesn't like "stealing them" to be part of the way to play and win in a fun fast paced game?
This game consists of red plastic monkeys.  They have either a number (up to 15) or an X on the bottom.  You also have 1 die that has words like steal, flip or switch on it.
This game can be played in a group, or individually.  It says it is for ages 6 and older.  Basically, you get to grab 3 monkeys, then follow the instructions on the die to determine what has to happen next. It is fun because you can flip your opponents monkey, or one in the middle of the table.  You can steal from wherever you want as well.  The game lasts around 15 minutes, so its not one that will go on way past the time when you are ready to call it quits. The fact that it allows you to use your math skills (and memorization) is great and I know we will have a blast playing it, if Santa happens to see this and brings it to us!  Watch the video below to see how to play!

Get Up and Move with the Crazy Legs Game! #GiftGuide

Having a 6 year old son, you can only imagine the different phases that we go through with entertainment around here.  I am so excited that he is at the stage now where he loves family game night / day.  There are some weekends where he wakes up wanting to play different games and you better believe that we enjoy them over school breaks too!  It doesn't have to be a game NIGHT for us to have fun, we make it a great time day and night!!!!  (We might still call it game night, even if the sun is shining!)  He has spotted several games that he really wants to have this year and who am I to say no to the bonding moments that I get when he requests games instead of individual play?

Being online, I have seen a few games that he has not seen in stores and I am really crossing my fingers that Santa will bring one or two of them to him this Christmas!  The first game I want to share with you is a pretty physical one called, Crazy Legs!!
Let's be honest here...  The colors alone on the packaging grab your attention to at least see what the excitement is all about!  Then you see it says "KID FRIENDLY YOGA POSES AND EXERCISES!" Hello! You have totally grabbed by attention for real!   What is inside this box????
Flip it over to the back and you see that it is a board game, complete with a game board, game pieces and even a spinner!
Basically is goes like this:   Youngest starts first, spin and move. Land on an action space, complete the action (actions include: the wave, move back, move forward, crazy dance, get up, wheelbarrow and everybody change seats.)    If you don't land on an action space, you land on one of two colors. Yellow = Yoga and Blue = Exercise.  There is a stack of cards for you to draw for yoga or exercise and then you complete the task.

I think that this is going to be a fun game for us at home, but I also think it would make a great classroom gift!  Think about the rainy days, or even the days it is too hot / cold.   This would make indoor recess a bit more enjoyable to the kiddos!  (At least let them burn some energy!)

Let me know, doesn't this sound like a good time???
