New Years Eve and Diggers

Well, this feels kind of crazy! For AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER, I have worked on New Years Eve. Actually, I have worked for pretty much all holidays/celebrations... I am 30 years old and I have had a job since I was 15! But, that is not the point! Last year, the job I had for the previous 10 years decided to shut its doors, with NYE being the LAST night of Diggers... (Diggers is the name of the place I worked at!) I was 7 months pregnant and when I got off of work (this time around 11:30 ish ) I headed home to ring in the New Year with the hubby and his sons... It was a nice change to be able to spend time with my husband... but it SUCKED that it was the LAST night I would ever walk into Diggers. You know, that was my family! I moved up there at the age of 19, got a job immediately and that "job" became a second family/home. They were there through it all... Birthdays/Death/Marriage/Pregnancy Anyways, I could ramble on forever about that... All I wanted to say was that with

Random Tuesday Thoughts

So, today is Tuesday... Randomness it is then! To start with... If you have not seen MY SISTERS KEEPER, you should definitely watch it! Have the tissues handy! I love Jodi Picoult . Her books are great! ( I will post about all of that soon!) Moving along, I do not know about y'all , but I watched the hangover the other night with my little brother, I was LAUGHING OUT LOUD, like, for real! It was too funny! Now, this movie is not for everyone, so do not go and rent it just because I said so... but for some of you, YOU WILL LOVE IT! Speaking of not for everyone... Have you heard all the hoop-la over this new show on MTV, called Jersey Shore? Well, we watched it the other night... I hate to say it, but come on now... These people are killing me! They say it is supposed to be all about "the Jersey Shore" and representing "Italian Americans ", Ummmmmmmmmmmmm I DO NOT THINK SO! My family is Italian, my husband is Italian... This in NOWAYWHATSOEVER represents

A Christmas Carol Special Edition - Review

Image
I was recently sent , A Christmas Carol Special Edition: The Charles Dickens Classic with Christian Insights and Discussion Questions for Groups and Families, from FSB Associates. I have to tell you, I really enjoyed it! I have read A Christmas Carol before, and yes... It is one of those books that I have always liked... But, this particular edition gives you more of insight as to the Religious man that Charles Dickens was. All throughout the book, you will find notes in the margins explaining the Christian background/meaning of what he was saying. Also, at the end of each "Stave" you have discussion questions. This book would be perfect for a book club or a Sunday School Class. I also think that this would be perfect for a family to read together to get into the "Christmas Spirit." With just a few days until Christmas, I would love it if all of you went to get this book to add to your family library! I know that we will treasure this book through

Over the weekend...

This past weekend, I had my stepsons over so that we could do Christmas with them. I am telling you, they are growing so fast! I know that they love getting to see how fast their baby brother is growing too! It is crazy to think that Christmas is ALMOST here! I am so excited for the fact that it is Broxtons first Christmas... BUT, it also makes me sad knowing that Marc will be missing it all. While the boys were here, we SKYPED their dad so that he could see them open their Christmas present. I went ahead and gave them the clothes we got them for Christmas the night before... Saved the best for last... Yep.. We got them a Wii ! I have to tell you, that is a pretty fun game! I am ready to go and see what all games they actually have that go with it. Have you played a Wii before? I love it! Where was this when I was younger? I had the plain old Nintendo.. Please, please tell me you remember that... Duck Hunt, Mario Brothers, the boxing game and who can forget

J.R.Watkins - Review

Image
Okay, I have to admit... I love lotion... and shower gel... and lip balm... I once applied to work at Bath and Body Works. I do not have to tell you that I am so, SO glad that I was not hired! I think I would have spent my whole paycheck on the products. No, that would not have been good. That does not stop me though! If I am ever out, I always have to stop and look... and sometimes purchase! You can never have too much. Well, you probably could! But, I do not think so! Enter J.R. Watkins! In 1868, Watkins was founded in Plainview , Minnesota. Mr. Watkins produced an all-natural liniment for tired and achy muscles. Get this, he was SO CONFIDENT in his product, that he even offered THE FIRST money back guarantee! By the turn of the century, business was booming. Watkins then became the J.R.Watkins Medical Company, selling perfumes, salves, and even spices! All of the products were all natural! Today, J.R.Watkins is an international product! I

The One Year Did You Know Devotions 2 - Review

Image
Working with Tyndale Media Center, I received a complimentary copy of The One Year Did You Know Devotions 2 book for review. This is the COOLEST thing! There are silly facts or bits of trivia posted for each day in the year. Underneath the paragraph explaining the information... There is a Bible verse that explains it and relates it to the biblical message. This book targeted for the 6-10 year age range, but I tell you what... I wake up excited to read what is for that day! Yesterdays trivia... How did Spam get its name? You want to know the answer and how it relates? Head on out and buy one so that you can find this out ... and SO MUCH MORE! I can not wait until Broxton is older and I can share all of this with him! It is like a mini-Sunday School lesson for each day! I really like the concept. If you think about it, all kids LOVE trivia! This way, you get their attention with the fun trivia/facts... and then you teach them important information wit

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Image
It is Tuesday... So, randomness it is! Check out the Un Mom for more! First things first... With Marc being deployed, I really, really HATE the fact that postage keeps going up! Luckily, " Price of First-Class Postage Will Not Change", but the price in shipping will! I spend, on average, $12 a week on mailing him stuff. Not that I am complaining, I just wish that they could give a military discount. I do LOVE the fact that he can mail a letter home for free, mailing a box will still cost.. But, at least a letter is free... I think I forgot to tell you, I took Broxton to Sams to get his "official Santa" picture... I know, we have a snapshot with him, but with this being his FIRST CHRISTMAS, I wanted the whole, Picture Package deal... Yep, I was "that mom!" First of all, Broxton wanted to check out the tree, play in Santa's beard... Anything and everything, besides look at the camera! So, I turned into "that mom"

Bea's Gift Baskets - Review

Image
--> With the holidays fast approaching, I wanted to share a great website I stumbled on… http://www.beasgiftbaskets.com/ They are based out of North Carolina and the basis of the company is the love of making gift baskets filled with love! They are a web based business with customer service that is rare these days. Please take a look at all that Bea’s Gift Baskets has to offer! If you are looking for ANY gift basket, Bea’s has it! The holiday baskets come in a variety of sizes and at different prices to meet anyone’s budget. I particularly like the “Home for the Holidays” basket. This seems to have a little of everything:Just a sample of SOME of the items inside: Fudge, Coffee, Cocoa , Salami, Cheese, Cider not to mention the cute keepsake basket! For the one who loves Christmas Decoration:I suggest the Seasons Greeting Holiday Sleigh. Besides all the yummy treats inside, it comes nicely packaged in a decorative sleigh. Keep this to reminisce thr

A little Christmas Meme

Christmas MEME Here are a couple of questions about me pertaining to Christmas...Enjoy!!! 1.) Have you started your Christmas shopping? I can thankfully say, I AM FINISHED! I think that this is the first year I have been done so early! I had to pat myself on the back for that one! 2.) Tell me about one of your special traditions. We go to my moms side of the family for Christmas Eve... As we leave, my grandad tells us to watch for deer. We get home, open our gifts to each other... Go TO SLEEP! Wake up on Christmas Day and go to my dads side of the family for Christmas lunch. 3.) When do you put up your Tree? Never really have a set date, just whenever we get around to it... 4.) Are you a Black Friday shopper? NO!!!! I can not deal with the madness, I would get shot, because I can NOT keep my mouth shut! 5.) Do you Travel at Christmas or Stay home? Travel, but last year stayed home.. Due to me be pregnant and my work schedule 6.) What is your funniest Christmas me

Playmobil Pirate Advent Calendar

Image
I recently received the Holiday Gift Pack from MomSelect . ( I will post more about all of the WONDERFUL contents soon...) I just wanted to share this one first. If you read my previous post about a sweet little boy, Ward Wright.... You will agree that this was perfect. You see, Wards family already decorated for Christmas for him to be able to fully enjoy it. I emailed Wards Aunt Jen and asked if she thought Ward might like this... How about, Ward loves.... CHRISTMAS and PIRATES!!!! So, Broxton and I loaded up and went to give Ward something to help count down the days until Christmas. The Playmobil Pirate Advent Calendar is too cute! It says it is recommended for children ages 4 and up. (Perfect for Ward!) What exactly is it? Well, starting on December 1st, each day you open another box with a special toy inside. As the days wind down to Christmas, you continue building a scene! Then, after the holidays are over, you still have the cool set to play

Recipe Club - Book Review

Image
I recently received a copy of The Recipe Club: A Tale of Food and Friendship by Andrea Israel & Nancy Garfinkel from FSB Media. I really enjoyed this book, I thin k one reason I did so was because it was different from most that I read. It is about these two girls who are friends and decide to start a "Recipe Club ." The story is basically told through the correspondence of letters through the years. It starts with today, and as we all know, the art of letter writing is dying, so of course it is through email. Then, it back tracks to actually tell the story and that is where the letters come in. They would send a letter and with the letter a recipe that just so happened to be named by what was going on in the letter. The recipes seem pretty good and I know I will be trying some out! Chocolate Chip Cannolis , Starry Night Scampi, Confetti Spaghetti... those are just a few of the recipes that are shared in this book. I did have a hard time relating with eit
