Check out the Netflix show, Spirit Riding Free (We love it!)

You know, its funny how kids gravitate towards things.  I am not sure how or why, but Savannah has fallen in love with horses. I am not sure how she came to love them, but she does.  When I heard they were releasing a show "Spirit Riding Free" on Netflix, I knew I would be checking it out to see what Savannah thought about it.
This new show came out on Netflix May 5, 2017.  We decided to watch the first episode and Savannah was HOOKED!  She wouldn't even sit to watch it, she just stood right there and watched the whole episode!

Each episode of Spirit Riding Free will be filled with frontier adventures and fun -- from inclement weather like flash floods and blizzards, to human malfeasance from train robbers and banditos, to kid-centric capers like treasure hunts and secret sleepovers. And some stories will even be told from the horses’ point of view!

Even the most action-packed episodes will be grounded in the emotional realities of being a kid -- stories that will resonate with any kid, anywhere, in any era, whether they go to a one-room country school house or a mega modern high school; stories about fitting in, finding your place, figuring out who you are and who you want to be, and all the other weird, wonderful, alarming, and amazing parts of growing up.

Spirit Riding Free is a coming-of-age story for Lucky, but also, in a very different way, for Spirit. Over the course of the series, each will realize their truest selves. Lucky will learn she is far more than just a city girl with a wild streak, and Spirit will learn that his freedom is only as real as the choices he can make. Together Spirit and Lucky will illustrate both sides of the same theme: only by doing, can we truly become what we are meant to be.

Make sure you follow me on Instagram. I was sent a great package with fun activities for us to do in celebration of "Spirit Riding Free." I will post images on there for you to see. (Even a picture of Savannah with her new horse, Boomerang!)
Isn't it a cute box???  Savannah saw it and immediately wanted the box.  She sat all ready knowing it had to be a surprise for her inside it!

Our activity box included friendship bracelets, a picture frame and even a journal!   We were so excited about it all!  She quickly claimed the plush horse and the bandanna as soon as she saw it!

Do you have any fun activities or crafts you like to do with your friends?

Give the gift of pain relief with @SalonPas

I have spoken in the past of my mom and her "need" for Salon Pas.  She has had aches and pains and the one that caused her the most trouble was her knee.  I was able to review Salon Pas in the past and once my mom got to try it out, she was hooked.  She said all of the products she had tried in the past did not even come close to Salon Pas.  A friend of mine mentioned aches and pains and I suggested Salon Pas and spoke of my mom singing praises all the time!

If you are not sure what product you would need, you can click on their "Symptoms" button and go from there.  SalonPas has great products and appears to have a pretty amazing website to help you out. As I mentioned you can click on the Symptoms button and then click on arthritis, joints or whatever pain you are dealing with. At that point, they show you the recommended products.
They also have a video showing you how to apply the product. Finally, if you are worried on if it is sold near you, feel free to click on "where to buy" and take that step out before you go looking for it.

As of this posting, you can visit the SalonPas site and click to request a sample.
I saw this on their site and thought I would share with you:
What are the benefits of applying SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch or SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain instead of taking a pill?
Compared to pills, the chance of stomach bleeding is small. The patch delivery system allows for direct delivery of the active ingredient to the site of the pain and provides the option of discontinuing medication use. While many oral non-prescription pain relief medications require a dose every 4-6 hours, the effectiveness of SALONPAS® Pain Relief Patch/SALONPAS® Arthritis Pain lasts up to 12 hours.

Head on over to the SalonPas site to see what they offer.  I am pretty sure if you have aches and pains, they will have something to help with the pain.

Have you ever tried SalonPas products before?  After seeing how much relief they brought my mom, I have made it a point to try and give her a gift box full of an assortment of SalonPas products for each "gift giving" occasion! Hey, why waste money on something she might not want when I KNOW she buys these all the time????

This would make a great gift for a loved one.
Since Sea Buckthorn isn't just about skin care, I wanted to share with you 5 tips to reduce tummy trouble that I was sent from Sea Buckthorn!

5 Tips to Reduce Tummy Trouble:

  1. Drink plenty of water - Drink enough water. Many digestive problems are the result of a lack of water, as the liquid helps dissolve fats and soluble fiber.  Taking a glass of water soon after waking up jump starts the digestive system, which helps prevent constipation. Also, drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before a meal stimulates the stomach lining and prepares it for food.
  2. Probiotics - Increasing the number of good bacteria in our GI tract, by taking probiotic supplements and eating foods that contain probiotics, may help combat reduce digestive symptoms, a growing number of scientists say. New research indicates that specialized strains of these good bacteria could also alleviate mood and anxiety disorders. Of course, always confer with your doctors to find out which probiotics are right for you and the optimal dosage.
  3. Low FODMAP Diet – FODMAP compounds (found in gluten containing foods) are thought to contribute to the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and similar gastrointestinal disorders. Click here to learn more and find out which foods are low in FODMAPs, which may help reduce IBS symptoms
  4. Increase Omega-7 intake Sea buckthorn has an array of essential omega fatty acids, including the rare Omega 7. These fatty acids soothe cells and support the functions of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Omega 7 provides also helps to restore moisture. When the mucous membranes are healthy, they hold moisture better. Constipation sufferers may find relief with the healthy functions of these mucous membranes.
  5. Exercise - Aerobic activity, the use of large muscles groups for at least 10 minutes, helps fight constipation. Exercise helps with digestion in several ways, including promoting the movement of food through the intestines and improving blood flow to your gut.

Enter to win a @ZeroWaterFiltration Pitcher

When I first moved to Atlanta a million years ago, my first apartment had smelly water.  That meant I would only drink bottled water and would never use the ice from the ice machine.  Fast forward to today and we are long out of that first apartment.  I also found that I could use a water filtration system and not have to constantly be buying water bottles.  For several years now, we have used the ZeroWater pitcher and I absolutely love it.

FTC Compliant Review Policy:  The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

ZeroWater isn't just a water filtration system.  They have such cool products!
Look at what they offer:
ZeroWater has pour pitchers that are available in 6, 10 or 12 cup sized.
They also offer a 23 cup dispenser.
Another product is their Tumbler on the Go.
Finally, you can buy a water meter separately so you can see what you are drinking.

We are trying to drink more water around here these days, so it is great to have our pitcher filled and ready to go!  I was also sent a tumbler and I am TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THAT!  I like having a drink, ready to go. Normally, I would grab a soda (or bottle of water) but now, I can just grab my tumbler and I am out the door.  If I run out of water, I can stop and fill up my drink at a water fountain and not have to worry about what I am drinking!!

Kinsa Thermometers make caring for a sick one a little easier.

A few weeks ago, we had a rough time with Broxton. He kept complaining about a sore throat and a headache. I grabbed the thermometer, but no fever.  I thought he was just trying to get out of school, but he would be burning up, I think the thermometer was broken! I took him to see the doctor and she said his throat was really red, but that was about it.  He missed 2 days of school. The next week, same thing.  He even had a fever to go with it that time and it kept creeping up higher and higher.  I was so thankful when we were sent a Kinsa thermometer for review, as it was actually keeping the correct temperature!
Savannah was so happy with the ELMO KINSA Thermometer!
FTC Compliant Review Policy:  The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation.

As I said, Broxton kept not feeling well, so of course that meant he was bringing germs home from his classmates too!  He really was sick, as he missed a field trip he was so excited to go on! Come to find out from talking to his teachers, this past week was the FIRST WEEK since JANUARY that she had a full class and all were there and well!

So yeah, we were excited to get a Kinsa thermometer and one that would work, but I freaked out because I didn't have spare batteries. To say I was happy was an understatement when I opened the package and saw that they had included batteries in it...  Duracell too!

Savannah sat still for me to test out how easy it was to use on her.  She loved Elmo and then had to ask me about 9 million times to get it for her.  I tried explaining it wasn't a toy, but she was happy to see Elmo, so we "played" doctor for a while.
It was easy to use, you simply take the top off press Elmo's nose to turn it on and put it right to the ear.  Press again and it beeps to let you know it has registered the temperature.

I thought it was cute that it had a smiley face on it to let you (and the child) know all was okay!
Just this past week, Savannah started having a runny nose, thanks brother!  She was fine and of course I was watching her.  (I get a cold EVERY-SINGLE-TIME the temperature changes from hot to cold and cold to hot...  I think I might have passed that to her!)  Well, the other night that snotty nose turned to a crying and whining baby girl and then she started getting warmer and warmer.  Lucky for me, Elmo to the rescue!  I was worried that it would wake her up during the night, but we were good to go. The screen lit up so that I could see the temperature and it was easy to take without disturbing her!

Final thing I like about this?  The top has a cap that makes it elevated and not sitting flush on the surface.  We have not used it for the features yet.  This mama is TIRED and I didn't think about it. It looks like loads of helpful (and fun) bits, so we will be uploading it to my phone and getting that going soon!

Here is a little more information from their site:

Connects to your phone via Bluetooth
Tracks health history for the whole family
Offers real-time guidance on next steps
Tells you what’s going around

Instant read at the push of a button
Comfort grip, gentle on baby
No probe covers required, easy-clean surface
Light-up screen for nighttime readings

See and hear Elmo in the app!
Elmo’s friendly face makes readings fun
Elmo offers encouragement or sympathy when reading is complete

Are you familiar with the KINSA THERMOMETERS?  Don't worry.  If Elmo isn't your thing, they have 2 other thermometers as well!
The Elmo one retails for $49.99.
They have another ear thermometer, with NO Elmo for $39.99.
Lastly, they have the smart stick thermometer for $19.99.

Already making movie plans for the summer #DespicableMe3

Did you know that Despicable Me 3 is headed our way this summer???
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!  The release date is set for June 30th. Broxton and I always laugh at these movies, so you better believe that we will be planning a movie date to go see it!
I just thought I would share with you, so that you can plan a movie date too!

This summer, villainy runs in the family.
Steve Carell is Gru and Dru.
DESPICABLE ME 3 is in theaters June 30

Illumination, who brought audiences Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions in Despicable Me 3.  Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, the animated film is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and executive produced by Chris Renaud.

Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in Despicable Me 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central’s global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon.  Parker voices the role of villain Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ‘80s, and proves to be Gru’s most formidable nemesis to date.

Keep your child safe with these water safety tips

I don't think you can ever be too safe when it comes to water safety. I say "water safety" in general and not just children.  When Broxton played baseball, his team had a pool party. Many of the kids (and some parents) didn't know how to swim.  Of course that meant that I jumped in with them. I wasn't about to have a kid getting injured while I was there!  Broxton has had swimming lessons and I plan on Savannah having them soon as well! Until then, I can share these tips and maybe help out someone.

9 Tips To Keep Your Child Safe
Around Water This Summer
Few things are as much fun as splashing around at the beach or in a backyard pool, but not every child is confident about taking the plunge.
“For some children, the idea of getting in the water and trying to swim can be a bit frightening,” says K.J. Hales, author of It’s Hard to Swim, the second and most recent addition to the Life’s Little Lessons by Ellie the Wienerdog educational picture book series.
“But with the proper positive reinforcement, they can overcome their fears and discover just how much fun swimming can be.”
May is National Water Safety Month, a good time for parents to consider teaching their children how to swim. The American Academy of Pediatrics supports swimming lessons for most children 4 years and older. Water safety classes can also reduce the risk of drowning in younger children, the pediatrics group reports, but advises that because children develop at different rates, not all will be ready to swim at the same age.
Hales, who offers teachers’ guides and educational activities to go along with the lessons in her books, says she chose swimming as one of Ellie the Wienerdog’s adventures because it’s a valuable skill that all children should learn.
“Most children are around water in some form, whether it’s a pool, a river, a pond, a lake or the ocean,” she says. “So learning to swim isn’t just for fun. It’s also important for safety.”

The Pediatric Academy cites several water-safety tips for parents, including:
Never – even for a moment – leave small children alone or in the care of another young child while in bathtubs, pools, spas or wading pools, or near irrigation ditches or standing water.
Empty water from buckets and other containers immediately after use.
To prevent drowning in toilets, young children should not be left alone in the bathroom.
Closely supervise children in and around water. With infants, toddlers and weak swimmers, an adult should be within an arm’s length. With older children and better swimmers, an adult should be focused on the child and not distracted by other activities.  Bath seats cannot substitute for adult supervision.
If children are in out-of-home child care, ask about exposure to water and the ratio of adults to children.
If you have a pool, install a four-sided fence that is at least 4-feet high to limit access to the pool. The fence should be hard to climb (not chain-link) and have a self-latching, self-closing gate. Families may consider pool alarms and rigid pool covers as additional layers of protection, but neither can take the place of a fence.
Parents, caregivers and pool owners should learn CPR.
Do not use air-filled swimming aids (such as inflatable arm bands) in place of life jackets. They can deflate and are not designed to keep swimmers safe.
All children should wear a life jacket when riding in a boat. Small children and non-swimmers should also wear one at water’s edge, such as on a river bank or pier.
“When Ellie finally swims, she realizes that learning something new is wonderful and if you give it a try, you can do anything you wish,” Hales says. “This is a lesson I hope all children will take to heart, not only when learning to swim, but also when facing any challenge that comes their way.”
About K.J. Hales
K.J. Hales is the author of the educational children’s books series, Life’s Little Lessons by Ellie the Wienerdog. The latest book in the series is It’s Hard to Swim. The purple wiener dog character is based on Hales’ own dachshund by the name of, you guessed it, Ellie.

Cars love being passed down #Cars3

When Broxton was little, he was so in love with the movie, Cars. Lightning McQueen was just so super cool to him. That was why I was excited to get to take him to Disney and let him get his picture in front of him, years ago.  My "baby boy" might not be a "baby" anymore, but when Cars (or Cars 2) comes on, he will watch it with us, as we always stop to watch it out of habit and love.
I am so excited that Cars 3 is headed our way, so I wanted to share this with you all.
I think Savannah is going to love it as much as her brother, as she has quickly laid claim to all of his "CARS" cars and plays with them all the time!

CARS 3 opens on June 16, 2017
