I have no shame in saying I love to read.  I read a little of this and a little of that.  Truth be told, if it is an easy read, I will normally try and check it out.  I don't do well with history and things like that, but other for the most part, I will try anything.  That being said, I was sent a couple of the new books from Disney Publishing for their new Original Movie, The Descendants.  I know that this is above Broxton's level, but I just might try to read them to see what they are all about.  I know the previews to the movie looks great, so it won't hurt to read them, right?  Check out a few of the selections they offer below:

Age 12 +
When four offspring of classic Disney villains are offered a chance to leave the island where they have been imprisoned and go to prep school in an idyllic kingdom, they must choose whether or not to follow in their parents’ evil footsteps.

Age 9-12
For anyone who wants to know more about what Mal is really thinking, this diary gives readers a special glimpse inside her world with super-secret journal entries and Mal’s doodles and drawings. Plus bonus pages for the reader to write down her own thoughts and feelings!

Age 9-12
For fans of Descendants, this spell book, which formerly belonged to Maleficent before she passed it on to Mal, is full of comments, notes, and inside jokes between Mal and the other villains’ kids. Laugh and cry along with Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos as they find their way in the world of Auradon Prep.

We have been watching this area develop not too terribly far from us.  At first it was a clearing, then they started building and working on a parking lot.  We saw that it was called SPROUTS and would be opening soon.  Of course that meant we wanted to check it out!!!
EVERY - SINGLE - TIME - we go by, the parking lot is PACKED, but we decided to brave it and go in anyways.  It was the most awesome place to us!!
They have a little of this and a little of that, lots of great prices and so much to choose from.
Best of all, it is healthy food!  (Yes, they do have candy and what not, but from what I could tell, it was mostly organic options.)

So, I was given an opportunity to review them and I was impressed.  (Marc is REALLY impressed, but I will get to that in a minute!)  When you walk up to the store, you notice they have a sign that says " No photography allowed" so, I am sorry... but there will be no more pictures in this post.

As you first walk in, you are greeted with the bread section.  Many options and a friend had mentioned they had great bread, so of course I grabbed a loaf of their sourdough.  DELICIOUS! (I might have made 1, 2 or several tomato sandwiches on that bread!)
They have a deli right there where you can get meat or can even get them to make you a sandwich.  Oh, did you know they make their own sausage and meats there?  Yep!  There is always a huge line there, so they must be doing something right!!!!
They have a great looking meat department, but we have not tried it out yet.  (Being at the end of my pregnancy, I am not a fan of hanging near the meat section.)

We walked up and down all the aisles and I was really impressed with the price of their produce. Marc ended up grabbing some tomatoes for us and they were fantastic... So much so that he seems to only want to buy our tomatoes from there these days (even if it is about 15 minutes away, versus closer options.)

As I mentioned, they do have candy... as in a big section where you purchase by the pound.  Our house may or may not be obsessed with the chocolate covered honeycomb or the chocolate covered almonds.  (You can grab a free sample at the store if you are unsure about it.)

The main kicker for us?  Their meals that are ready to go!
Marc takes his food to work most days and he has been grabbing these to take instead of some random frozen meals.  They are perfectly portioned and he has yet to find one that he doesn't like.  I made a comment about them being great for him and Broxton to eat when I have the baby, so I don't have to worry about them starving...  Broxton is IN LOVE with their spaghetti.  (I can't make it right now, as spaghetti sauce is NOT my friend, this way they get to eat it and I don't have to cook!)   Marc commented that their chicken fettuccine was disgusting...  Then I learned he was trying to trick me into not eating it... Too bad for him, I tried one and I am already in the mood for another.  Great flavor and as I said, a good amount!

If you live in or near ROSWELL, Georgia, you are in luck!!!

Last year Broxton liked to go to the Nurses office quite often. I think sometimes it was just because he was bored in class and wanted to get out for a bit. Yes, we spoke about it and I told him that he was only to go when he was really not feeling well, that if he went all the time, the time he actually did not feel good, no one was going to believe him.  Being in school meant that there were a few times when he was around plenty of other sick kids  (WHY SEND YOUR KID to school if they are sick and with a fever?  I just do not get it!)  Anyways, don't get me started on that one... Well, as I was saying, there were a few times when he really did not feel well.  Instead of rushing up there each time, I found out that I could leave medicine with the nurse and she would give him the medicine if she felt he needed it.  I decided to send in Pedia Care Smooth Melts to have on hand.
They were cherry flavored.  They were chewable.  They were single doses so that I did not have to worry about her having to measure our an amount and all that.  It worked for us last year and I plan to do it again this year as well!

Melt away the pain with these cherry-flavored chewables containing acetaminophen, and cheer up your child from troublesome symptoms of fevers.
Temporarily:
  • reduces fever
  • relieves minor aches and pains due to:
    • the common cold
    • flu
    • headache

Cookie without the Guilt - @Almondina

When looking for a great snack, I am usually up to try most things.  One thing I love?  Sweets!!  There is no denying that.  I also love almonds, so when I was given the chance to review " The Delicious Cookie without the Guilt" aka ALMONDINA, I knew this was something I did not want to pass up!!!!

Here is a little about them from their website:
This all-natural, crispy almond cookie has no cholesterol and no added fat, salt, or preservatives. It is wonderfully crunchy and does not have to be dipped. It is a delightful accompaniment for coffee, tea, soft cheeses and fine light wines. The rush to eliminate fat from gourmet foods too often has also eliminated most of the flavor, a fact which is in sharp contrast to this enticingly delicious cookie.
Since the introduction of the classic Original flavor, eight more distinctive variations have been introduced, all of which continue to be packed with roasted almonds. A recent innovation, Chocolate Cherry, combines the almonds with dark chocolate and plump cherries.

We have enjoyed all of the flavors and have also shared them with friends and family as well.  I do not think that I heard a negative comment about any of them.  They are prefect for a quick snack, or to eat along with tea or coffee.
I do think the Cinnaroma were my favorite. (Or course, it was chocolate for the boys!)

After checking out the Almondina store, what would you say your favorite would be?

Have a DSLR? Strap it and wrap it with #Miggo

If you want to learn something pretty cool, keep reading this!!!
This past year, I was on the yearbook staff for my sons school, that being said, I took a good amount of photos.  (I did plenty of picture taking in his pre-k years too, but that is besides the point.)  Anyways, I had  basic camera strap that came with my camera, but then I got something pretty awesome.  Something that was a major conversation starter. Something that was perfect for me carrying my camera basically everywhere!  Bet you want to know what that was...

It was the Miggo Strap and Wrap!
This wrap is seriously awesome!   It is a camera strap to wear around your neck when you are taking pictures, then when you are done, you just wrap the camera up and you are good to go.  Look below at how easy it is:

Another demonstration on wrapping it up for storage:

Just look at the instructions to see what model you would need:

I was sent one and I am for real when I say it has been a conversation starter.  People ask where I got it.  They want to see me wrap it up and then unwrap it.  Normally I would carry it in my purse, so when I was ready to use it, I would just pull it out of my purse, unwrap it and then hang it around my neck.  It has been such a convenient thing for me to have.  To the point that it makes me question what I did before I had this!  (Besides be inconvenienced all the time!)

More information on the Miggo:

The miggo Strap & Wrap DSLR is the world’s first camera strap that morphs into a protective case. Comfortably carry your DSLR or Bridge (Superzoom) camera across your torso. When done shooting, just wrap miggo around your camera and slip it into your personal bag to protect it from scratches and impact.Designed for right and left handed, miggo will accommodate the majority of small-medium DSLR and Bridge (Superzoom) cameras equipped with short to long lenses due to its unique modular adaptor system. Made from high quality Neoprene and Lycra, miggo ensures comfort and durability along with excellent protection for the camera. The padded strap can be carried across your torso while the weight is evenly distributed for comfort. miggo’s specially designed multipurpose nickel-coated steel screw serves as a secure connector to the 1/4″-20 tripod socket located on the camera body. It also allows the user to connect a tripod while miggo is attached. A designated flexible inner pocket is designed to carry a lens cap when it’s not attached to the lens. A safety cord will keep your camera secured to the strap.

If you have a DSLR, I highly recommend you checking this out.  They have several patterns to choose from and I am sure you will be just as happy as I have been!!!   If you have a child headed off to college, this would be a great gift for them as well.

What Would You Pack? @VaselineBrand #BringingHomeBaby #Babyevent

It is getting closer to time for our baby to arrive, so that means I am at least thinking about packing a bag to take to the hospital.  I know I need to get my things in order, but I am a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to packing.  (I think I get it from my mom, she packs morning of the trip... I am not that bad, yet!)
Anyways, I asked a few friends what they thought were must have items and I got ideas like suckers, lip balm and more... One thing I didn't think of, because we have it in almost every room?  Lotion!

Yes!!!!   Being that I have worked with Vaseline for what feels like a million years now, I knew that would be the lotion of choice!
Lucky for me, they have a new (to me) product, so I wanted to check it out.

I was sent the Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Relief Healing Serum.  This stuff feels so good and it smells amazing!  I am not sure the scent, but I like it!  It isn't overpowering, but it is subtle enough that it leaves me sniffing my hands to get an extra whiff!   (Hey, gotta be honest!)

Moisturizes to heal and calms severely dry skin
Gentle on skin
Dermatologist tested
Soft scents of rose and amber
Non-greasy formula
BEST FOR: DRY SKIN, CRACKED SKIN

After a few days at the pool, we had a few of us with a bit of sunburn, so I was pretty excited to see that we also had a new supply of the
Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Spray! I love this since it is so easy to use... Not to mention when you are pregnant, it is hard to maneuver and reach all the different spots, so this is perfect to spray and help you out!!!!

Moisturizes and absorbs in seconds to help heal dry skin
Dispenses evenly with one all-over spray
Instantly leaves skin soft, not greasy or sticky
Contains micro-droplets of Vaseline® Jelly
BEST FOR: DRY SKIN

Finally, we were sent a nice new jar of Vaseline Jelly.  I like keeping this on hand during the winter, so it is great to go ahead and stock up now!   (Works great on your lips too!)

Protects and locks in moisture to help dry skin heal
100% pure petroleum jelly. Triple-purified. Purity guaranteed
Gentle on your skin, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
Reduces the appearance of fine, dry lines
Helps protect minor cuts, scrapes and burns
Protects your skin from windburn and chapping
Recognized by the National Eczema Association
BEST FOR: DRY SKIN, DRY ITCHY SKIN, DRYNESS ASSOCIATED WITH ECZEMA

I can't be having dry skin when it is time to love on this sweet new baby headed our way, so I need to actually stock up on more of the Vaseline lotions.  Out of all that I have tried, I think the Healing Serum is my favorite and Marc loves the lotions.  Seriously, I think we have a bottle or a spray can in almost every room of our house.  You never know when you will feel like you have really dry skin and need to hydrate!!!!

What is a must have you packed, or something that you wished you would have packed in your hospital bag?

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

The summer heat is just a bit too much for me to enjoy these days... Being pregnant and all, I just sweat at the thought of going outside.  (See, sweating already and I am sitting inside typing this!)  It is just TOO HOT these days.  In previous summers, we would be outside and the mosquito's would be all over us. Yep, I guess we are just too sweet, but this year, we have not given them a chance to feast on us.  I really want to get outside, especially since Broxton wants to play basketball.  That and it sure would be nice to fire up the grill.  As soon as this little one is born, that is a plan we have.  Maybe not an all day event, but at least outside enough to enjoy the end of summer and make a few more memories.  I am just so happy that we won't have to worry about being dinner for the mosquito's, we can worry about cooking our own dinner!
We were recently sent two mosquito repellent lanters for review and I tell you this, they sure are nice and pretty.  (You know what I mean, sometimes these mosquito repellents are just ugly containers that you would not want sitting out, these are nice enough looking to be decoration!)

Ally-saurus and the First Day of School #BackToSchool

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

I don't know how the first day of school went for you or your children, but I hear that many young ones have a hard time adjusting.  It was easy for Mr. Social (Aka Broxton) but it was tough on me when he started K3 and then again when Kindergarten rolled around.  Not because I was worried about him, but because I was watching my little one grow up and hitting milestones.  It was a sweet emotion... but emotional all together.  To get us ready for school, we read books and talked about how things would be.  I love the book part, as it helps to show different situations.
We were recently sent a new book, by Richard Torrey.  It is called Ally-Saurus and the First Day of School.  I really thought this book was super cute and for me, I loved the illustrations. If you look at the cover (below) you will see what I mean.    See Ally-Saurus?  Shes an adorable little girl, but then you see where the illustrator added on the dinosaur tail and scales on the head.  It is like that throughout the book for whatever the child is discussing.  In this book, Ally-saurus heads to school and meets a wide variety of children. (Love that they were from all backgrounds.)  They don't really seem to get along with her "dino" outlook, as the little girls are "princesses" and are not fans of Ally-saurus.  Read the book to see what all ends up happening. I love that the parents, nor teacher make her conform to being something she doesn't want to be.  We are all free to be US!!!!   This has a cute story / illustrations with a great message too!

Barnes and Noble Overview:
You can call her Ally-SAURUS! When Ally roars off to her first day at school, she hopes she'll meet lots of other dinosaur-mad kids in class. Instead, she's the only one chomping her food with fierce dino teeth and drawing dinosaurs on her nameplate. Even worse, a group of would-be "princesses" snubs her! Will Ally ever make new friends?

What is it that your child is really into right now?  For us, it was Storm Troopers... but now he is just really into LEGO.
