A Summer To Remember, With Help from Coca Cola and WalMart

What are you all doing this summer?

Are you travelling?  Have family coming to visit?
Or are you just taking it easy and maybe planning a staycation?

No matter what you have planned (or have already done)
Coca Cola and Wal-Mart want to be with you to make it a Summer To Remember!
As you know by now, Coca Cola is a given at our house...

Like knowing that we WILL have the Air Conditioner on... There will be air to breathe... and we will have coke to drink.  It is funny, if we go somewhere that doesn't offer coke (but brings us one when we order it..) We know the difference, call them out on it and then proceed to order something else... Like Sweet Tea.  :)

Did you know that Coca Cola is currently selling packs that contain 28 cokes in them at Wal-Mart?  I noticed the other day, but we had already purchased coke and had plenty at home... so, I did not grab any that trip.  (We will be going back in the next day or two, as our supply is low.)  When you purchase the 28 pack of Coca Cola from Wal-Mart, you will have the My Coke Rewards Code like always... but you will also get a bonus... You will also get 28 FREE photo prints at Wal-Mart photo center!

See package bottom for code and more info. Open to My Coke rewards members who are legal residents of the 50 US States and DC age 13 or older. Keyword expires 9/30/12. Limit one per My Coke Rewards member. Cannot be combined with any other offer. While supplies last. Only available with your Coke 28 pack MCR code. Free prints from Walmart available online through 9/30/12.

Head on over and visit my Summer to Remember Pinterest Page.  Let me know if you have any other idea's for a summer staycation to remember!  Several items on my board are actually items you can get when you redeem your My Coke Rewards Points.

Now, head out and grab a 28 pack of coke... Ice them down and enjoy!  Have a wonderful summer!

What In The??? Mother Knows Best

    Are you KIDDING me?!
I have always wondered about several things I have heard about through the years...
But I will tell you this...
I have been flipping through the book, Mother Knows Best by Sue Castle and I am TOTALLY shocked by several of the things I read in there!

    BOOK SYNOPSIS:
    Mother Knows Best?
    The Truth About Mom’s Well-Meaning
    (But Not Always Accurate) Advice
    By Sue Castle

Ever wonder if not making your bed actually will make monsters move in underneath them? If you go in the pool just after eating, will you really get a cramp and drown?Mother Knows Best? The Truth About Mom’s Well-Meaning (But Not Always Accurate) Advice (Skyhorse Publishing, April 2012) is a must-have handbook bursting with hilarious facts and fiction as we put mothers’ wisdom to the test.  This book will have you laughing and crying as you questioning some of the commonly accepted notions you’ve been practicing for years … and your mother’s intelligence. Author Sue Castle takes some of mom’s most infamous pieces of advice and puts them to the test, including:

    ·         Will a glass of warm milk help you sleep?
    ·         Is chicken soup really the best cure for the common cold?
    ·         Does turning a light off for a few minutes use more energy than it saves?
    ·         If you pick up a baby every time she cries will she become spoiled?
    ·         If you cross your eyes, do they get stuck that way?
    ·         Are brown eggs healthier than white eggs?
    ·         And much more!

    My Take On It:

The very first thing in the book:
Don't Cross Your Eyes, They'll Get Stuck That Way.
Let me just tell you... I never really thought it was true...
BUT, I for sure never tried it, just in case...  and yes, I have been known to say that too, just in case.  Well, just so you know, it is NOT TRUE.

    Further on, I read :
Shaving Makes Your Hair, or Beard, Grow Back Thicker.
Now, I for sure thought that was true... I even told my little cousin to put off shaving her legs as long as she could, because once she started, it would grow back thicker and she wouldn't be able to just stop again...
Hmmm... It is NOT TRUE.  I found out that I lied to her!

    Finally, a bit of truth...
Just so we all know that everything we were told were not ALL lies...
Carrots Are Good For Your Eyesite.
    That is totally TRUE!!!!!!!!

This book was full of things I had heard, but never knew true/false...
But it also had other pieces of information that I had never even heard of...

I personally think it is a great read, even if it is just a few pages here and there!

    W/ Wednesday - Summer Fun

Well, it is Wednesday, so that means PICTURE time...

How have you all been enjoying your summer?
We have been having a great time and I have 2 pictures to show you the fun going on....

    One...

When Marc's family was in town, we went to Chattanooga.
Will post about that later...  Had a great time, but it was H.O.T.

So, after the fun at Rock City, we headed over to the stairs over by the Aquarium...
    Broxton needed to cool down...

Another fun thing we have been doing?

Broxton got a "big boy bed."
His crib converted into a "toddler bed" but we thought it was a good time (with him starting school) to get a "big boy bed" for him to sleep in now...
So, he now has an awesome twin size bed that we just love!
What was so fun about that?  Well, besides THE BED... We also had the box that the foot-board came in...
Broxton turned it into a stage for him to put on a "puppet show" for us...

Hope you are having a great summer!!!!!

Don't forget my back to school bash starts this coming Monday.

    Back To School Bash

Okay, I have spoken about it a little, but it is getting closer and closer...
I have been so lucky to have been able to be a stay at home mom to Broxton...
But, we have decided to enroll him into the Preschool Program at our Church.
He will only go half a day, but I think it will be great for him.
He will get to be with other kids and they teach out of the Preschooler's Bible, so it is Faith based.

Although I am so happy and excited, you have to know that I am a bit sad...
Broxton is my only baby.  This journey has been wonderful and I know we are just actually starting it.

There will be an actual "first day" when he starts real school, but come on...
    This is real to me!
Of course, I will be taking tons of pictures... and getting all excited!

We actually got a letter the other day telling us who his teacher would be...
They even sent his little "school supply" list..
You know me, I wanted to tear up... but I held it in...
I know when that day comes that we take him to school I will be the one with tears as he is running to go play and make new friends... starting his own journey...

So, leading up to this new adventure...
I thought it would be nice to do a little "Back to School Bash" with you.
I will be hosting a few reviews, as well as some giveaways...
Not all just for the school child, but also a few things for adults as well!
It starts this Monday, the 23rd.

I hope you will join me as I share my findings with you...
Also, I would love any comments of things that I might need to know or that might help in this next chapter!

Greg Kinnear , In Thin Ice Available Now

I love watching a good movie and I will tell you that I do not have favorite actors, but I do have some that I like more than others...  In the case of Thin Ice, I saw that Greg Kinnear was in it and I have loved the things he has been in before... (As Good As It Gets is an AWESOME movie!)
Well, I will tell you this... As soon as the movie started, I realized pretty quickly that I was not going to be a fan of his character in this one... Talk about a SHADY person...
    Yep, he sure is!
Long story short, Greg Kinnear is an insurance salesman that isn't the most trust worthy guy...
As the movie unfolds, you learn more and more NOT to like him...
I thought the movie was a really good one and I was glad that I had the chance to watch it.  After the last few movies that I could talk Marc into watching not being that great, it really was a disappointment that he did not watch this one.  I really think he would have liked it... So you know what that means?  It means that I hope to watch it again soon!

    Synopsis:

Mickey Prohaska (Kinnear) is a small-time insurance agent looking for a way to jump-start his business, reunite with his estranged wife (Thompson) and escape the frigid Wisconsin weather. This self-proclaimed master of spin believes that salesmanship is about selling a story — all he needs is a sucker willing to buy it.  He hits pay dirt with a lonely retired farmer (Arkin) who is sitting on something much bigger than an insurance commission.  But Mickey’s attempt to con the old man spins out of control when a nosy, unstable locksmith (Crudup) with a volatile temper dramatically ups the stakes, trapping him in a spiral of danger, deceit and double-crossing.

    I HIGHLY recommend this movie!
Have you seen it?    Are you a fan of Greg Kinnear?

Have You Heard Of Krill Oil Pills?

I have to tell you, a bit ago, I got an email talking about "Krill Oil"
Okay, stop right there... Just what is Krill?

So, of course, thanks to friendly Mr. Internet, I had to check it out..
Seems as though they are small shrimp like creatures...

Well, it seems to me that Krill Oil is supposedly a little pill for you that is pretty good!

    From their website:

Clinical data has shown Krill Oil seems to possess numerous benefits and has the ability to: protect your heartlower your cholesterolfight PMS symptomscombat inflammation, optimize your brain's capabilitiesfight aging AND boost your overall health and well being!

Everest Nutrition’s Krill Oil leads the industry in superiority, purity and concentration. Don’t just take our word for it. See for yourself. In the graph below, you can note that we provide higher concentrations of DHA, EPA and the powerhouse antioxidant, Astaxanthin – than any leading competitor. To really hit it home – the Omega-3’s in Everest Nutrition’s Krill Oil are stored in phospholipid form. Phosppholipids are natural fats found in the human body. What does that mean? It means your body is easily absorbing the essential nutrients found in these first-class Omega-3’s.

Now, I received this for review... and I have to admit, I am bad at taking pills...
I took it for a couple days, then got side tracked and forgot about it...
Then, started for like a day or two... and got side tracked again...
In the couple days that I did take it, I did not notice anything, but truth be told, it isn't an overnight wonder drug... so, I wasn't expecting it to..

But, now that I am posting this, I am for sure going to to try (AGAIN) to take them like I should...

Please head over to the Everest Nutrition Krill Oil Website to learn more (and how you can purchase)  I have seen this all over the television, but the chart that I added above makes me happy to know that I have the Everest Brand now...

Have you heard of Krill Oil? Do you take it? Are you good at taking pills in general?

Wild Kratts: Jungle Animal DVD Available Now

We have never watched Wild Kratts before...
But, as much as Broxton is into watching shows about animals, I thought he would be very eager to watch this...   I am not sure why, but the first time I put it on, he watched for a minute and then decided he didn't want to watch that... and so he left to go play with his toys...  You will not hear complaints from me, as I would much rather him play than watch tv anyways, so I just turned it off and we went about our day...
Then, a couple days later, he asked me if I would put on Wild Kratts for him.
He watched for a few minutes and then again, he was off to explore other things...
I had no clue that it was both real television mixed with animation... I thought it was just animation the whole time.  I personally thought it was pretty cool, so I am eager to see if he wants to watch it again soon!

Here is the description from the PBS Store Site:
Creature teachers Chris and Martin Kratt will take families along on extraordinary animal-powered adventures. The show transforms the Kratt Brothers into animated versions of themselves, allowing the real-life zoologists to visit wild animals in their little-seen habitats and showcase key science concepts. Episodes include: Walk on the Wetside; A Huge Orange Problem; Birds of a Feather; and Googly-Eye: The Night Guru

    Episodes include...

    Walk on the Wetside -
When Chris and Martin locate an amazing water-walking Basilisk lizard in Costa Rica, they try to replicate its actions in order to learn how this rare lizard is able to walk on water. They discover that by using its wide feet, churning its legs to create water pockets and keeping up a certain speed, the Basilisk is able to run on water in order to escape from predators. And when Donita Donata begins capturing basilisks, Martin and Chris us their new water walking powers to rescue these rare lizards.

    A Huge Orange Problem -
While Chris and Martin are off searching for the endangered Orangutan in the deep forests of Borneo, back at the Tortuga HQ Aviva, Koki and Jimmy get carried away swinging on vines and their muscles so get incredibly sore that they can't do anything. The bros attempt to rush back with the first aid kit but a huge orangutan keeps tossing them back into the forest. Here they learn that orangutans use a special leaf and chew it into a lotion to ease muscle soreness, and return with this orangutan medicine to help their friends. But Zach has sent his Zachbots to fell the trees of the orangutan forest, and Martin and Chris activate the orangutan powers of the Creature Power Suit to rid the forest of saw-armed Zachbots, and save the orangutans rainforest home.

    Birds of a Feather -
When Aviva reveals that dancing is just not her thing, Chris and Martin set out in the New Guinea forest to inspire her to give dancing a try by uncovering some of the greatest dancers in the creature world - the Birds of Paradise. They soon find that the male birds use their showy bright feathers and extraordinary dances to display to potential female mates that they are healthy and strong. But when the gang gets caught up in Donita's plan to capture these fashionable birds for her latest clothing line, Aviva must put her dancing skills on the line to save them.

    Googly-Eye: The Night Guru -
The Kratt brothers secretly "borrow" Aviva's half finished night vision goggles to go in search of a mysterious nocturnal creature. But when the unstable goggles stop working, the brothers find themselves taken in by the nocturnal society of the tarsier. As they investigate, the Wild Kratts team discovers that nocturnal creatures only come out at night and learn that eyes help a creature see by collecting the light that comes from objects all around. But when the tarsier troop is in danger of losing one of their own, Chris and Martin must tap into their newfound understanding of nocturnal living and help the troubled tarsier family.

Comfy Shoes From Nature's Sleep #giveaway

We don't walk with shoes on in our house...
As soon as you walk in the door, the shoes come off...
But, I will tell you, it is nice to wear comfy slippers when doing things around the house...
Especially when we go to my parents!  Marc normally wears his flip flops... (They don't have the no shoe rule, just at our house)  You see, my parents have hard wood floors... so it is normally cold!
When I was told I would get to review a pair of  Nature's Sleep Slippers, I automatically started looking at how comfortable they looked...

I decided to go with brown (thought it would make a great gift for Marc, shhhhh)
I think they are awesome... They are so comfortable...

  • High quality Genuine Nature’s Sleep Next Generation Memory Foam
  • Provides pressure relieving comfort all day long
  • Naturally conforms to your foot in cool comfort
  • Distributes weight to reduce pressure points and improve circulation
  • Ideal for indoor use on multiple surfaces
  • Attractive style and look

  • I do have to be honest... I do not think they are that "attractive" but it could be because they are brown...
(Although, I do love the shade of brown they are, I would not call them mocha, but then I would not call them sand either... They are just the right color for slippers in my opinion!
Or it could be because we have big feet and they look like mini boats in the house...
But I will say this... as "unattractive" as I find them, they totally make up for their looks with comfort!

(Sort of like you should not find the love of your life based on looks alone!)
When the slippers came for review, I immediately had to put them on.  It was nice how they were not too soft, yet were not hard either.  I did like how they had a plastic/rubber bottom...  We had been looking to get my grandaddy a pair of slippers to help him around the house, so I was eager to see how these would work as far as slipping/sliding.  They were easy to "move" but did not make you lose your footing like some do.  The sole of the slipper that you feel is quite nice.  It is made of a "memory foam" so that it sort of contours to your foot and seems as though they are made just for you!
Of course, as soon as I took them off to get a shower, I noticed Broxton heading over to try them out.  There have been a few times I have noticed him trying to walk through the house with them as well, so I know they must be nice, as he is not really a shoe fan!
If you are looking for slippers, for you or a loved one..
(Remember, college kids love slippers too!)
    Check out Natures Sleep Slippers!

Char Crust is Perfect For Grilling #giveaway

If you stopped over on Wednesday, you know that my dad loves to grill.
I would say that we love it, but living in an apartment, we just do not grill.
We can not have a grill on our porch, so grilling out is a treat when we visit my family.

A bit ago, we went to visit and I took a couple different Char Crust Dry Rub Seasonings for us to check out.
We were having steak and I decided to add a bit of flavor to them.
While we were enjoying our dinner, we did notice that we could not really tell that there was any extra flavor to it... So, when we went to a friends house to grill burgers, I brought along the Char Crust again... This time,  we added even MORE to see if it was a light hint or what the deal was...   Once again, none of us could taste anything, but every single one of us noticed how juicy the burgers were!  At that point, I decided that they were not "flavor boosters" but for sure were great at sealing in the juices.. Actually, we all decided on that....  I was very impressed!

Have you heard of Char Crust?
    Check out the flavors:

    • Roasted Garlic Peppercorn features the robust flavor of roasted garlic and onions with the zing of peppercorns and a hint of Worcestershire and lavender. Its versatility has made it a best seller. It complements steaks, lamb, seafood, pork, poultry, and potatoes.
    • Ginger Teriyaki is a balance of sweet teriyaki, fragrant ginger, plus a tingly touch of wasabi that lends a new dimension and creates a modern teriyaki interpretation. It complements chicken, fish, and steak.
    • Amazin’ Cajun is a spicy-sweet blend of piquant cayenne pepper, onion, garlic, oregano and a mélange of other Mardi Gras flavors. It brings the sublime heat of New Orleans to catfish, chicken, shrimp, and even “dirty” rice.
    • All American Barbecue takes the best flavors of American barbecue and blends them into a tangy-sweet, slightly spicy rub. It has rich molasses from Memphis, tangy tomato from Kansas City, mustard, pepper and vinegar from the Carolinas, plus a wisp of smoke from Texas.

One lucky reader is going to win a 4 pack of the Char Crust mentioned above.

Caillou's Mysteries and Adventures Available July 10

If you have followed my blog for a bit, you know that Broxton just loves Caillou.  To the point that Caillou is his "brother" from time to time.. We have to watch Caillou daily and he gets excited when he sees Caillou asleep when Sprout Shows all the characters sleeping at night.
We even have a Caillou doll that goes on adventures with us, so when I had the chance to add to our Caillou library, I was fast to jump aboard!
The latest DVD is Caillou's Mysteries and Adventures.
I wonder how they narrowed THAT down to just 12 episodes, as EVERYTHING is an adventure with Caillou.  I think that is one of the reasons I love Broxton watching this show...
I feel as though Caillou gives him the desire to want to explore...
It amazes me how much Broxton's mind is growing and learning every single day and wow, he can come up with adventure too!

    In this DVD:
    Caillou the Detective:
Caillou searches for Gilbert when he goes missing, retraces his steps to find his missing toy car, and plays and adventurous game of hide and seek with his friends.
Caillou the Brave:  Caillou slides down the water slide for the very first time, braves and thunderstorm by pretending to be the captain of a ship and helps Rosie overcome her fear of bugs.
Caillou to the Rescue: Caillou helps Rosie fall asleep with a bedtime story, pretends to be a fireman and saves the town and rescues missing cars as a tow truck driver.
Captain Caillou: Caillou sails his new toy boat around the pond with his grandfather and goes to the airport with his father to watch the planes take off.
