Aloha Friday #69

Hey everyone!
I can not believe I missed last weeks AF!
Well, I am back!
So, here we go!

What is AF?

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question:
What is the weather looking like your way?

My answer:
We are finally clear of the snow and ice...
BUT - Snow is heading our way again?
What is up with that?

Have a great weekend!

Help! My Baby Came Without Instructions - Book Review

You know I have talked before about all the pressure that I felt was on me while Marc was deployed...
A first time mom...
Dealing with her husband being deployed to a war zone...
(This was actually my first time dealing with him being deployed as well)

I read all sorts of books, went to the pediatrician more than I probably needed too...
Well, I think we all survived just fine...
BUT-
I wish I would have had this book!

I just finished reading HELP! My Baby Came Without Instructions by Blythe Lipman.
I really liked this book because it was easy to read.
Super fast to read!
Something you can read here and there when you need it...
Yet, also it is quick to refer back to it once baby is here...

Most people have all sorts of advice coming to them...
Mom says one thing, friend says another...
Of course, you have total strangers that think they know it all...
But, when everyone is gone...
It is just you and your newborn...
You just might need a little piece of advice...

Turn to this book.
I know I said it once, but I love how easy it is to read!!!

The chapters help you know exactly where to go:

What to do when your baby won't stop crying.
Sleep time made easier
The safe, fun way to bathe your baby
The keys to successful bottle and breastfeeding
When those bubbles just won't come out
Baby's first real food
How to help baby through the teething stage
Bragging and other nonsense
The manly art of baby care
Balancing it all
Survival 101 : Learning how to care for yourself
How to create the perfect caregiver
Holiday celebrations made easier
How to keep your baby safe
Choosing the perfect preschool for your infant
Real answers from real experiences

I know I have Broxton, but I feel like I can always take tips and advice to learn for the future...
Or to share with family and friends...

The main thing from this book?
Don't place a baby in the middle of the bed to sleep...
They like to be snug and comfy...
Place in top left or right hand corner...
on their side...
use a wedge or rolled up receiving blanket to keep them on their side...
this is comforting as it keeps them close!

I also like that there is a section in this book for dads!
Overall, I think this is a great book to give, or receive!
If you are pregnant, or know someone who is...
Help! My Baby Came Without Instructions is a great book!
With only 130 pages, it is quick to read...
Bullet points for each chapter make it easy to look up what you need DURING the experience, no need to add more stress!!!!

Rite Aid Photo - Who Knew?!

I love pictures!
I also now love photo gifts!
(I mean, how else can I show Broxton off ALL - THE - TIME?!)

I hate to say it, but I thought that photo gifts meant that you had to order from an online company and have them ship it to you.
Little did I know that you could order so many great photo gifts from Rite Aid Photo!
Yes!
Rite Aid, your neighborhood pharmacy also has a great selection of photo gifts!

I wanted to see how great their works were, so when I was offered a chance to review and share with you, I chose two totally different items!

The first I want to tell you about their crystal gifts.
I chose the crystal keychain for review.
The process was very easy.
You just create a Rite Aid Photo account.
Then, you upload your picture.
Next, select the product you want to order and then place the order.

You get a confirmation that the order was placed...
Then, Rite Aid emails you to let you know it was shipped.
When we went to get it, I could not wait to open it.

They package it in a nice black box.
I opened it and there he was!
Broxton was smiling back at me!
The product was perfect!
I tried to take a picture to show you the finished work, but I could not get a good one..
Sorry that these are blurry, but I wanted you to see...

This is trying to show you the finished product...
and how big it is.
I was trying to get a side shot to show you where the picture is...
They do it in the middle, not on top or bottom where it can easily be damaged!

The other item I was able to review was from their canvas collection.
I decided to go with their canvas tote bag.
Once again, it was a very simple upload and order.

When the bag arrived, I was very pleased.
It is a nice bag to throw items in for a quick trip.
I think it is just the right size, not big and bulky.
But not so small that it makes it uneasy to use!

I also like that the picture is printed on the bag and that their is a front pocket for some of those "fast grab" items.
Not to mention, the bag is white...
But it is trimmed in black, with black handles.
Another major plus?
The bottom of the bag is black.
Why a major plus?
Because now, when you have to sit it down...
It will not show all the dirt like a white bottom would!
Think about it, if you need to take it to an outdoor game, you really do not want to have to put a bag with a white bottom out there on the grass, would you?
I am loving this bag!
I recently took it for a mini road trip with Broxton.
It held plenty of toys, change of clothes, diapers, the portable DVD player...
Top it off?
Plenty of room left over!
(For those of you that cook, with the great quality of this on the tote bag, I think their aprons would be pretty awesome!)

I think that the prices are great for the quality item you are ordering!
Best of all, no shipping and handling, since you just pick it up at your local Rite Aid!
Like I said, I really wanted to try two totally different items, to see how they handled the quality of the different textures.
I was very impressed, so much that I plan on ordering a few more items soon!
I really think that I need to get one of their trivets.
You know, for all those meals I cook! :)
( I am getting better!)

Go check out Rite Aid Photo to see what all they have for you!
Remember, Valentines is really close...
This would be great for all those special Valentine's in your life!
(They even have teddy bears where you can make a special shirt for your sweetheart!)
