Happy 60th Anniversary, Schwan's!

Growing up, I can remember my mom coming home with food from the Schwan's delivery guy...
From personal pizza's to frozen lemonades, they seemed to carry a little of this and a little of that...
Truth be told, I had no clue, until recently that Schwan's started as an ICE CREAM TRUCK in 1952.
I am not sure if you are aware or not, but Schwan's is the 6th most popular grocery e-tailer in the U.S.

To celebrate their 60th Anniversary, Schwan's has introduced a new flavor ice cream:
Their description:
The special Triple Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream features milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate ice creams swirled with pieced of white and dark chocolate. With a smooth, creamy texture and fresh dairy taste, this limited-edition flavor is crafted in small batches and packaged in a reusable commemorative anniversary container.
Doesn't that sound awesome?

Marc keeps talking about how we need to order from Schwan's but we just do not have the freezer space to do so.  But, he was pretty excited when we had the chance to review their thaw and serve Creamy Yogurt!  It comes in Strawberry and Vanilla.  I thought I would love the Vanilla the most, as that is what I normally go with, but the strawberry was excellent!
Broxton and Marc thought that they were chowing down on ice cream, as it was pretty cold and just that great of a taste...

I think we do need to try that new ice cream though, I mean, as hot as it is in Georgia right now, I doubt it will stay in the freezer that long!!!

The Boys Liked It... and It's Healthy?! Probar Review

Whenever we have the boys here, I have to plan on having plenty of snacks on hand...
If you think about it, adding three growing boys to the mix, we have to keep them going :)
They are now 16, 14 and almost 12... so yes, they are really growing...

As much as they would like to munch on candy bars, chips and drink coke all day long, I know that is not possible.  (I mean, wouldn't we all?!)
So, when I heard of the Healthy Food, PROBAR Fruition , I knew I would love the chance to try them while the boys were here...

I had to try them when they came in and I will not lie, I was so nervous that they would not like them.  I just could not eat them... I think it was the texture.  Probar Fruition is full of fresh fruit... but also full of nuts and seeds.. I just could not deal with it.  Marc said they were "okay" but that was about it..
Remembering whenever I have tried to get the boys to try something new, I almost decided against it..
BUT, I want them to eat healthy at least PART of the time they are here..

So, I waited... and then Marc's family was here and his sister and I got to talking about the bars..

They are HEALTHY... They are GLUTEN FREE...
That got her attention there, as a relative is on a gluten free diet and would probably like it...

I asked the boys if they wanted a snack and of course, they said yes!
So, I broke out the strawberry fruition bar and gave them each a third of it..

Wow, they scarfed it down and could not talk about how great they were!
I was shocked... No lie, I had to ask if they were joking or what...
They were dead serious and were for real about wanting a whole one to enjoy.

At that point, I gave them the box (we were sent all different flavors) and told them they could pick which one they wanted...   I was surprised that they actually shared with each other, as they were all eager to see which flavor was the best...
One was completely in love with the blueberry and the other two could not stop talking about the cherry!
They all did agree that they lemon was their least favorite!
We have actually found a winner!
Not only do the boys love them, fruition probars just won a healthy food award!!!

Make sure you follow PROBAR on facebook...

Packing Guide From The Three Stooges

As you plan for a Summer Vacation, take the Packing advice from three funny guys:
The Stooges’ Summer Fun Travel Packing Guide

Got a family road trip coming up? Don’t get caught without these essentials! Check out some of our must-have fun items for traveling families this summer – complete with recommendations from Larry, Curly and Moe. What are some of your favorite items you can’t leave home without?

Larry Recommends:
Sunscreen
Having a bald head is basically a gentle reminder to pack the SPF75. Even if you have a full head of hair, it’s important to keep those harmful UV rays at bay – so grab the spray, lotion, gel, etc… and get ready for fun in the sun!
Games
You gotta kill the time somehow. Pack your travel editions of Battleship, Settlers of Catan and Uno – or use your imagination and play “I Spy” or the license plate game and you’ll be at your destination before you know it.

Curly Recommends:
Whoopee Cushion
Maybe avoid using this barrel of laughs in the car, but once you arrive at your hotel/aunt’s house/where ever you end up – a whoopee cushion is small enough to hide and prank your friends and relatives. Remember, you’re creating memories…
Snacks
You can get mighty hungry on those lengthy stretches of road. Some easy and healthy food options like fresh fruits and veggies, pretzels, crackers, nuts, popcorn and beef jerky. Don’t forget to stay hydrated too!

Moe Recommends:
Seed Money
You can’t get far without coinage. Be sure to keep a few bucks on hand in case you need more water, snacks, etc… You never know when it may come in handy.
Map
Someone needs to be the responsible one in the group. Designate a navigator and if you are travelling far or to a place you are unfamiliar with, stop and grab a road atlas or plug in your GPS.

All The Stooges Recommend:
First Aid Kit
Safety Forst! The Stooges are always fooling around, but it’s important to keep band aids, gauze and ointment on hand in case anyone gets too carried away.
The Three Stooges Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy Combo Pack
All the formats in this comedic combo pack allow you to LOL anywhere on your trip, in the car, on the laptop, at grandma’s house – you name it!

American Pie : Reunion Is Available For Purchase Now

Are you a fan of the "American Pie" movies?
If so, I am sure you know that they have a new one out...
I have watched some of them... so, I thought it would be nice to add to our collection.
I just watched it and there is no surprise that this is one to watch when the kids are out or sleeping...
Plenty of raunchy humor and plenty of foul language!  American Pie: Reunion doesn't disappoint!

I will admit, I had not seen any of the series since the second one.  Truth be told, I did not realize they had made so many since then!    But, I saw that the "reunion" was being advertised... and that the entire original cast was going to be back, so I wanted to see what all they had in store!
I will say, it was a bit odd that they decided to all come back for their 13th reunion...
I thought it was a big deal for the 10, 15, 20 and so forth... but hey, whatever floats their boats, right?

This starts off in true American Pie fashion... Bed bumping .....
But then you realize that she is putting the little one to bed and bouncing on the bed is calming him down...
At this point, with the little suggestion... I knew it was over :)
I even chose to watch the THEATRICAL version versus the UNRATED, as I just did not know if I could handle it!  ha ha!!!!!!!
I am sharing the BONUS FEATURES, as they really have A-L-O-T of them on this one!

OVERVIEW:
The entire cast of American Pie returns to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion in the outrageous comedy American Reunionavailable on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and On Demand, with a never-before-seen unrated version, on July 10, 2012 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.  In one long-overdue weekend, old friends will reconnect, old flames re-ignite and everyone will rediscover just how much fun you can pack into one hilarious weekend.
It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity.  In the years that have passed, Jim (Jason Biggs, Life Happens, “Mad Love”) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan, “How I Met Your Mother”) got married while Stifler (Seann William Scott, Role Models) still refuses to grow up. Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas, Please Give) and Vicky (Tara Reid, “Scrubs”) said goodbye while Oz (Chris Klein, American Dreamz) and Heather (Mena Suvari, “American Horror Story”) grew apart.  Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas, “How to Make It in America”) still longs for Stifler’s mom (Jennifer Coolidge, Legally Blonde) and Jim’s dad (Eugene Levy, Best in Show) is learning to date.  The hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend return as American Reunion brings this beloved franchise back with “flat out hilarious, raunchy fun” (Pete Hammond, Box Office Magazine).

I will tell you this, if you are familiar with American Pie, it is totally what you expect...

If you are not familiar with it, brace yourself!

There were a couple times where Broxton walked in the room while I was watching and I had to turn the tv off.
Stiffler is more of a tool now than I remembered him being... and the other guys, well, I don't know... It seems as though everyone grew up, myself included and it just wasn't as funny to me as I was expecting.  I told Marc that I needed to remember that I was 18 when the first one came out, a freshman in college...
SO many things have changed since then, so there are many that will still enjoy it, just not me.
Don't get me wrong, I still laughed at some parts...
But, I am sure if I passed this along to my brother, he would crack up at it the whole way through...

So, bottom line... DO I recommend it?

Well, if you are an American Pie fan (through the years) or a college kid (or at least you THINK like a college kid) you will LOVE this... If not, I am not so sure...

Broxton's A Knight - My Royal Birthday Adventure

Broxton went on a Royal Adventure and is now a Knight!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, not actually, but according to his Royal Birthday Adventure book, is surely did happen!

We have had the chance to work with ISeeMe in reviewing their books before and I was thrilled to work with them again!  As always, having a name like "BROXTON" you can not really get personalized gifts, unless you specially order them!
I have always been very pleased with the book quality from ISeeMe and once again, they did not disappoint!  The books have great illustrations with cute stories to go with them... Incorporating having the childs name in the actual artwork, not just the story.
The latest book, My Royal Birthday Adventure, was just as great as the others...

I did notice it is a bit bigger than the last ones... As in the actual SIZE of the books pages...

It is a bigger square shape, bit it still has the hard back covers that I have come to know and love from ISeeMe.   With the Royal Birthday, you have a hard cover, with a cut out template, letting you see the name of the book and of course, who it is for!  As you open the book, you are greeted with a dedication page and then the magical story begins!   (If you click on the link, you can actually see the pages and read the book in its entirety.)

In our book,  it starts out with Broxton getting out of bed to hear the announcement of his special day.

They then take off on a flying dragon of sorts to a magical place...
Once there, Broxton is greeted with flags on the castle, spelling his name...

His knights room with his name on it and many other personalized creations along the way!

I was very impressed with the artwork in this book.  Although it is an illustrated book about a Royal Birthday, it is nicely done and not just for young ones... Older kids (and adults alike) will appreciate the time to create such a beauty!
If you have a little one celebrating a birthday soon, order this book and give them a Royal Adventure for a great keepsake gift!   (Boys will be knights and girls will be princesses! )

Please follow ISeeMe on Facebook and Twitter...  That way you can stay up to date on different contests and promotions they have going on.

Also, right now, since I KNOW you want to buy a book:

15% off My Royal Birthday Adventure when you use the code "royal"
The code expires on 7/31 so use it today!!!!!

Grilled Corn? W/W

My dad LOVES to grill..

I mean, LOVES LOVES LOVES to!
Yes, there have been times when he has grilled in the rain, he loves it that much.

Another love?
Corn.  Grilled Corn.

So, I wanted to share my dads grilled corn recipe with you:

First up:
Get your ears ready, then place them on a piece of tin foil.

Next, add a pad of butter.
Sprinkle just a bit of sugar on there.
Roll and Fold it so that the butter stays in...
 Place them on the grill.
Discuss grilling with your son... (You know, you have to pass along the love.)
Corn and Steaks nice and ready to cook.
Once they are finished (dad says wait till the tin foil starts to get a little dark and that means they are ready!) take the tin foil off and enjoy!!!!

Does your house enjoy corn as much as we do?
Have you ever had grilled corn?
Broxton will go to town on this too!

Be A Buddy, Not A Bully With Captain McFinn and Friends

With Broxton getting ready to start school, you know I am getting a bit nervous.
I am all about teaching Broxton right and wrong, but I can not be with him 24/7...
That being said, I was excited to learn about a new series of books, Captain McFinn and Friends.

When I received an email about this book series, I was eager to read them...

"Be a Buddy, Not a Bully’ is the underlying theme of this book series.  According to the National Association of Elementary School Principals, bullying has become a national epidemic with an estimated 18 million children in the U.S. being bullied each year; negative feelings from being bullied account for 3 million student absences each month. Educators agree it is critical to educate kids about anti-bullying when they are young to discourage this negative trend.

Captain McFinn and Friends was created by Phyllis Cafaro, with inspiration from her grandchildren.    In 2006, she began her journey to teach important life lessons to children through fictional stories and music.  Her goal is to initiate positive changes in children everywhere."

The Legend of Captain McFinn and Friends: In this story we are introduced to the friendly black tip shark, Captain McFinn, who was once one of the biggest bullies on Sandy Dusty Reef.  He meets the Undersea Friends who teach him, through kindness, that being a friend is always better than being a bully.  Captain McFinn transforms from bully to leader and protector of the Sandy Dusty Reef.

Captain McFinn and Friends Meet Coral RoseCaptain McFinn and Friends go on an adventure of discovery when they stumble upon a new paradise where they meet their newest friend, Princess Coral Rose - The Princess Between the Tides.

Captain McFinn and Friends Rock!: The day Captain McFinn and his Undersea Friends start a band, they learn about more than just making great music. When Bella feels left out, it takes some extra Finn Power to get everybody ready for the big contest. Will hard work and friendship win the prize, or will Tox and the Barracuda Brothers ruin the fun?

We really liked the books.
As soon as they arrived, Broxton had to start checking them out...
I particularly liked the size of the books.  They were bigger than average and reminded me a bit of like a coloring book size.  I feel with the story taking place underwater between fish, the size of each page gave plenty of room for illustration, as well as the story telling, without either being crammed into the page.

I also like that the book is a bit more "mature" as far as it isn't a board book, yet it is still "kid friendly" as the pages are more of a card stock thickness, versus pages like the books I read.
So far, they have held up nicely with Broxton flipping through them.

As for the story line...
absolutely LOVE that it is a story with bullying and yet it takes place among fish... I think it is a clever idea and one that still gets the point across..

In the first book of the series, The Legend Of Captain McFinn and Friends, we learn that McFinn is a big bully and hangs out with other bullies... He is part of "that crowd," but, when he is in a situation and needs help, his so called "friends" leave him and the ones that he bullies are the ones that are there to help him out..
It just goes to show, although he was so mean to them, they saw he was in need and they were nice to him, not treating him how HE treated THEM earlier...   I thought that was a great message..

In the second book, we are introduced to Coral Rose.   She is a little princess that lives under the water... In this story, we learn the importance of helping others out (and making friends along the way)  Another side story in this was the fact that the little princess was there to help out the coral reefs in the water... She was helping them against the divers that were down there messing it all up... So, I was able to talk to Broxton about taking care of the area around you...
The third book (and newest one, as it was just released in June) has the gang playing in a band!  It was great to see the bullies back (that were introduced in book one)  and to see that they had maintained their friendship with Coral Rose!  This book was about friendship and how no matter what, friends are there to help and are always going to care about your feelings.  In this story, Bella had her feelings hurt and ran off, after her friends saved her, they realized that they were too busy having fun with each other that they had not noticed she was upset.

Broxton has had a great time looking at these books.  I catch him sprawled across the floor flipping through them often!

Just A Bit Crazy....

Hope all is well with each of you...
Life has been a bit hectic and crazy here, so I apologize for not posting over the weekend...

We had Marc's family in town a bit ago..  It was wonderful!   His sister, her two kids, his dad and another niece came...Not to mention the boys were here...

It was quite nice, we just visited and hung out the first night...
Then, the next morning, we were off to Chattanooga.  Marc is IN LOVE with that city and we had been talking about how his family needed to come and check it out..   So, we loaded up and headed to spend the morning there...  It was the day that the temp was reading 111.  Yes, it was hot.. but surprisingly, we enjoyed ourselves and got in the air conditioned car before it was miserable!  (I will be posting the pictures from there soon...)  We eventually headed back to Atlanta for the tweens/teens to hang out at the pool and then just hung out for the night... The next morning they were headed back to Louisiana, so we wanted to make sure everyone was rested and that we had plenty of time to visit!  We did decide to just go to Burger King instead of a restaurant so that the kids could burn off energy!  It was a nice visit.. We had not seen Marc's sister and dad since our wedding and had never met the nieces and nephews, so the cousins had fun too!

With the weekend full of fun and then getting the boys home and swapping cars, the week was rushed too..
But then, there was a break.. for a minute... Until my brother came to bring Broxton's "big boy bed"  We ended up going over to my cousins house for burgers and Broxton got to swim with her daughters... Then, we headed home to work on the bed.. Well, I say "we" but actually "I" worked on trying to watch THE GLADES and ARMY WIVES... while "they" worked on the bed...

Since I don't want to leave you without a picture in this post...
Here is Broxton getting a bath...
DO you or DID you ever do their hair like that when your little ones got a bath?
