Broxton really wants to learn to read... and I get so excited when he wants to read, so...  You know I was excited when Bink and Gollie showed up!!! It is a read along DVD.. and it is from Scholastic... You know that means good stuff!!!!

This new DVD in the SCHOLASTIC STORYBOOK TREASURES™ collection is perfect for kids as they wind down the school year, get ready for camp and look forward to spending the summertime with friends.  BINK & GOLLIE... AND MORE STORIES ABOUT FRIENDSHIP is an all-new compilation headlined by "Bink & Gollie", from Kate DiCamillo, the Newbery Medal-winning author of Because of Winn Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux and Alison McGhee.  A story of two very different girls who are the best of friends, Bink and Gollie don't agree on anything, but they learn ways to keep their friendship going strong. The original story for early readers, illustrated by Tony Fucile, won the Theodore Geisel Award, and a new book in the series "Bink & Gollie: Best Friends Forever" is available from Candlewick Press this spring.

Three other stories about friendship are also included in this fun-packed video:

·         "A Sick Day for Amos Mcgee" (by Philip C. Stead, illustrated by Erin E. Stead, narrated by David de Vries) - Amos receives unexpected guests from the zoo when he's home with the sniffles and sneezes.
·         "The Other Side" (by Jacqueline Woodson, illustrated by E.B. Lewis, narrated by Toshi Widoff-Woodson) - A friendship develops between two kids from opposite sides of a segregated town.
·         "Cat and Canary" (written and illustrated by Michael Foreman) - Cat's unlikely friend Canary shows him a great time when his master is away at work.

We love the Ripley's Books around here...
I was excited when we were sent the newest one, Ripley's Believe It or Not - Dare To Look 2013 .  This is the 10th "annual" book from Ripleys.  I had no idea...   At first, I wanted to save it for a Christmas gift for Marc, but then I thought about it... I knew he would love to look at in now.

Yes, I went ahead and gave it to him then...
Know what he did?
He sat in that chair and flipped through pretty much every page until he was finished with the book...  Then, he and Broxton looked through it again.
I have not had a chance to look at it yet, but Marc has called me over on numerous times to have me look at something that he found interesting...

I asked him what he thought...
His response?  "  It was Great!!!  There was so many things in there that I did not know about!"  Looks like this is one that the boys will be checking out when they come to visit!!!

One that made me say "WOW":
A carrier pigeon that was used in WWII was found (yes, dead) in a chimney... the message still attached with the little red capsule...   We will never know what the message said, as it was in code long forgotten.

I really enjoyed looking at the Human Flowers... Actually, Marc called me over to look at the photos and we both oohed and ahhed at them!!!

If you are a fan of Ripley's Believe It or Not... I say hurry and grab it while you can!!!
(Never too early to start thinking Christmas gifts!)

Don't forget... Ripley's goes a step further...
They have The ODD SCAN where you can download their app to see more extra footage!

I Want My Mommy

So, I wake up with a sore throat...
I did not really think much about it, since when the weather starts doing the hot/cool days... I most always catch a quick cold.  Not to mention, Broxton is back in school and I helped with AWANA.. so we have been around plenty of kids (Broxton had a small cough too)
Then, the next day.. It got a bit worse...
I googled home remedies and made up a concoction of honey, garlic and cayenne pepper...
Sounds NASTY... not great, but I did keep it down... I will say it did bring relief for a bit...

Day three, I was dying... I told Marc I just knew I would feel better if I cut a few slits in my face to let the pressure in my sinus cavities have a way to escape... I tell you... it was bad...  Miserably bad...
Finally, I could not take it anymore... I did not want to get anyone else sick...
So, I sucked it up and headed to the doctor...

Not pictured : My ear drops (as I have been on them already and they were not near the new medical supply!)     Yes, seems like I have a mini pharmacy here...
I hope to be feeling better soon... Don't they say you feel worse before you get better?
Hope that is the case...

Snugli Baby Carriers

* I will be reviewing a Snugli Booster Seat... I was not required to post this, but thought it was too cute not to do so.

With the Royal Baby in the news, this Union Jack Snugli Baby Carrier would be great to have... I tell you now, I am not pregnant... but when/if we do have another baby... I think that this would be an awesome print design to have in a baby carrier.
I was checking out the Snugli site and I tell you now, they have so many options to chose from...
Front Carrier, Vented Carrier, Front & Back Carrier and the Front, Back & Hip Carrier...
They seem to have several great patterns to choose from and if you are like me and not really sure what carrier you want... You can click the COMPARE button to see what works best for you!!!

Make sure you come back to see the Snugli Booster Seat that I have for review...
I am in LOVE and I am not even the one in it!!!

Socks or Shoes? Crisis Avoided!!!

With school being back in, life is starting to somewhat settle down...
I say that, but we shall see...
I did want to share with you something:

We went to get Broxton a new pair of shoes for school.
(The older boys all got their new shoes at the start of summer... but we waited for Broxton.  You know, at that age, who knows what "thing" is going to be what he is all excited about!)
Well, he wanted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shoes... and was SO EXCITED to get them.
We even made him wait to wear them the first time for the first day of school...

He was so thrilled about these shoes (I do love the bright green soles) so I had to take a picture to document this for when he is older....     But then, get this...  Morning of, he was all happy and ready to go... Until he realized that the shoes were going to cover up his Angry Bird socks and he wanted to be able to show his socks to his teacher and friends...

I am talking about he decided that he did not want to wear the shoes, just the socks that day...
Obviously, that was not going to happen... So, he wore his shoes...
But you better believe that as soon as he walked in that classroom, he took his shoes off to show his teacher his new shoes!  Once that was out of the way, he was able to put his shoes on and enjoy the day of school.
Crisis Avoided ;)

How did the first day go for your house?

Although school is back in and  summer is "over" in that aspect...

There is still so much yummy goodness in the frozen foods section at your closest grocery store!  I am not sure if I have mentioned it or not, but my dad LOVES Popsicles .. As in he has to have one every single day at lunch... So, of course, with that, Broxton loves Popsicles as well...   I mean, yearly... NOT just the hotter months...

Whenever we have time, we do like to enjoy in a nice cool treat as well...
That was why I was so excited to try the latest... Fruttare Fruit Bars!

The Fruttare Fruit Bars come in a variety of flavors...
They have some with milk :  Peach, Strawberry, Coconut and Banana....
They also have some without milk: Lime, Orange, Strawberry and Mango.

You know me... I am from Georgia and I wanted to try the Peach...
De-lic-ious!!!!  Wow... it was like a frozen peach milkshake, with chunks of peaches in there... all for me... with no mess!!!

Now, as much as I did not want to share ... (that just sounds so rude... but they were so good and we had other treats)  I did go ahead and tell Marc about it... I thought for sure he was going to grab one right then to try it out... but, he decided to go for the Heath Klondike Bars!  I tell you what, whenever we have them, he is all about eating them until they are gone.  I guess he is like me and wanted to get them before someone else did.

Funny thing was that when I decided to stock up on a freezer full of goodies, my brother was here visiting and I think he about fell out when he opened out freezer!  I did have to tell him that it was not normally full of sweet treats, that he just happened to come visit on a good day!
What all did we have in there?

We love them.. and I tell you, the new flavors are staples here... I was all about the Heath ones.. but we recently tried the Oreo...  and just spotted and bought the Rocky Road flavors!)

So, my birthday was a couple weeks ago.
We went on a mini-vacation to celebrate and it was nice...
Why am I telling you this?
Because my mom saw that Epic was available On Demand in the hotel and rented it for Broxton to watch with her one night...

I asked her what she thought and she responded with something about it looked really cute, but she could not hear it, so she was sure it would even be better with sound!   Ha ha ha.........

As soon as Epic arrived at our house, Broxton was so excited to watch it...

He was telling me how he watched it with my mom and he wanted to watch it again.
Guess that means it was pretty good!!!

I wanted to watch it as well, so I was thrilled that he was eager to watch again so soon!
We put it on and right away I was commenting about how cute it was...

I mean, the flowers came to life!!
The forest was beautiful!  The "leafmen" were awesome!
It was a such a cute story and I loved watching it with Broxton.
In fact, we have decided to have "movie night" (during the day) once a week now!!!

Rufus Goes To School - #DigIntoReading

We just finished reading one of the cutest books!!!
Rufus Goes to School by Kim T. Griswell.

It was a great book about a pig with a dream!
Ha ha ha.. that just sounds funny to me, but it is the basis of the story!

I should probably get Marc to read it to Broxton, since he just LOVES that movie, Babe with the pig...
Anyways....
Rufus is an adorable pig that wants to go to school to learn to read!
(Don't we all wish kids were so excited for both of those?!)

Well, he watches the kids and takes what he "thinks" is needed to go to school... but each time, he is told no...  that principle was just not about to have a pig in his classes!
Each time, Rufus watches more and more and tries to find just the right thing that will have the principle say it is okay..
You will have to read the book to see what the thing is...
It will totally surprise you!!!!

I loved this book and loved the message...
Follow your dreams and never let anyone stop you from reaching it!!!!
