So much going on at @Ihop. Stop in soon! AD

We have always been fans of IHOP and it just keeps getting better.  We have had many great times there, from tricking Broxton into getting up early for school and then surprising him with IHOP instead to going to eat IHOP before having Savannah, it has been a great place for conversations and memories.  I am glad to work with IHOP to share with you that they have partnered with NO KID HUNGRY and you can help make a difference!

IHOP and No Kid Hungry will come together again in the fight against child hood hunger. On August 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer a short stack of their world-famous buttermilk pancakes for just $1 with 100% of the proceeds  benefiting No Kid Hungry. With over sixteen million children suffering from hunger nationwide, IHOP and its franchise partners understand the need to provide children access to the healthy breakfasts they need to grow and thrive. IHOP restaurants’ efforts will help kick off the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry campaign. Guests can come in to try one of IHOP’s signature, fresh, made to order, meals and still donate to the No Kid Hungry campaign through IHOP’s website anytime from August 1- September 25. Please help IHOP, the pioneer of breakfast all day, every day, reach its goal of serving one million pancakes on August 23 to make an impact in the lives of hungry children across America.

We recently went to try out their CRISS CROISSANTS.  Of course, I wanted to try them all, but wasn't going to do it at one time... So, I did try the Banana and Caramel one. It was awesome. Marc tried the Strawberries and Cream.  He inhaled it without offering me a bite, so I am guessing it was pretty good as well!  Are you familiar with the Criss-Croissants?  I had no clue, but I am glad now that I tried it out.  Read below to learn more about it:
Criss-Croissants, the dish that when first introduced by IHOP last year, millions of people asked “how did they do that?!” This signature IHOP breakfast dish is made from 27 layers of flakey, buttery croissant pastry dough that is waffled to a golden brown before being stuffed with three new filling combinations: delectable Salted Caramel and Banana, mouth-watering Strawberries and Sweet Cream Cheese or savory Egg, Spinach Roasted & Red Pepper.
If breakfast isn't your thing, or if you are looking to change it up and stop by for dinner... Remember that IHOP is doing Kids Eat Free until September 25th every day from 4-10.  I should totally surprise Broxton and take him for dinner one night. He would not know what to think!  I saw a few things on the menu that seem to be calling my name to come and try, so guess where we might be headed back to soon?
Read more about the Kid Eat Free below:
Kids Eat Free* at IHOP® Restaurants is back! Known for being the originator of serving freshly made breakfast at any time of day, every day, IHOP invites families to savor the last weeks of summer by spending time together at dinner -- all while stretching back-to-school dollars since kids 12 and under eat free with the purchase of adult entrĂ©es from August 1 to September 254-10 p.m.every day at participating restaurants.
The Kids Eat Free deal includes dishes from the “Made for Fun” kid’s menu, featuring favorites like the Silver 5, five of IHOP’s silver dollar-sized world-famous Buttermilk Pancakes served with a scrambled egg and hickory-smoked bacon and Jr. Chicken and Waffles, with two all-white meat chicken strips paired with two Belgian waffle quarters and served with whipped butter and choice of dipping sauce. The latest kid’s menu innovation from IHOP is sure to be a crowd pleaser too – new Cheesy Cheese Pizza starts with an “only-at-IHOP” Criss-Croissants ® crust and topped with tangy marinara sauce and melted Monterey Jack & Cheddar cheeses.

Do you have an IHOP near you?  Do you go for meals other than Breakfast?

Always fun at @MedievalTimes #BacktoSchool

Now that school is back in for us, people are in to more of routine.  We are still celebrating.  It is the little things, right?  First day of school was a success?  Why not have a frozen drink after school to celebrate?  First week was great?  Let's have pizza night to end the week on a good note!
You can go big or go small, but things you want to keep in mind.... FUN FUN FUN!!!

We were recently invited to Medieval Times in Atlanta for a blogger event. If you follow me on Instagram you saw some of the pictures from that night. It was great, but I wanted to post this now, to remind you that although summer break has ended for many, that doesn't mean that you can't treat the family to a fun night out.  (I love the picture above, it was the arena before the show started.  Purple and Gold for my LSU loving little boy!)

As I mentioned, we were there for a special event, so we got to do a little of the behind the scenes. We were able to go backstage and see where they keep the horses.  Broxton got to meet a few of the knights.  He was even able to participate in a Junior Knights Training!   After that, we were ready for the show to start!
One thing to always remember.  You don't order from a menu.  You don't get unlimited refills and you don't get silverware.  Yes, you read that right... No silverware!   As you are seated, this is your setup. You have your crown for the knight you are cheering for. You have a flag to wave in support of your night.  You also have your plate and your mug.  (They offer you like 3 different drink choices.)  The show starts and you could care less about the food, it is a great show.  They bring out each course while the show is going on and you eat when you want too.  The food is great and it is a neat experience to chow down on that big piece of chicken (think they called it a dragon) while you are watching the show in front of you.

I was very surprised that Savannah did as well as she did.  I mean, she wasn't even one yet, but she was mesmerized by it all.  The show was great and she seemed to enjoy it as well, even if it did mean missing bed time!
Another of Broxton's favorite parts?  When the show is over, you get to meet the knights, the bad guy, the princess and the king!!!!  This photo is the bad guy... and OUR KNIGHT... THE ONE THAT WON!!!!   YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Medieval Times is located in the Mall for the Atlanta location.  Don't worry, the outside is made to look like a castle, so you get the whole experience. I love that when the show is over and you are headed to your car, you still get to see it all lit up in the excitement of the night!!!

Make sure to plan a trip to Medieval Times soon! You can even do a date night if you want to go and leave the kids at home!   While date night is fun, I think the kids have too much fun not to include them!  Why not plan a dinner and a show soon to celebrate school being back in???  We will be back soon, it is always fun and exciting for us!

Do you let your kids pick out their own clothes? Mary Had a Little Glam #RaisingAReader

Want to know something that makes my heart happy?  When I am reading to Savannah and Broxton comes in to sit and listen too.  He doesn't look at it as a "girl / boy" book or "baby / big kid" book.  He looks at it as mama is taking time to spend reading and normally the books are cute and funny, no matter what the target age is meant to be.

I was sitting in the living room reading Mary had a little glam to Savannah when Broxton came in.  He listened to the last page and then asked me to start over and read it again because he missed the whole book.  After I read it to him, he decided to read it to himself and I just love seeing a book in his hands.  I also love when I catch him sitting there reading to Savannah.  I am telling you, I love books and really hope they do too!

Mary had a little Glam introduces us to Mary.  A very STYLISH girl that doesn't worry what others think.  She has her style and she is all about it.  This book is by Tammi Sauer.  This name grabbed be and I realized that I had read books by her before, so that was a great thing.  I really love this book, as it shows the mom letting the little girl pick her own clothes and highlight her own style.  Do you let your kids do that, or do you pick and choose for them?  (Broxton has decided he is an athletic shorts / tshirt kid these days...  I was going to stress other options, but I want him to come into his own being without me forcing what I want in every situation.)

Yes, this book is about Mary owning her glam, but it did not stop Broxton from reading it. Hey, Mary was even able to get all the kids into being glamorous... The teacher and principal too!  They do have one slight hiccup that day at school, but I am sure Mary can work it all out. Just how does she do it?  Read the book and see!!!   This book is perfect for those that have their own style. Don't let any one hold them back!  Let them be who they are meant to be!  (Here is to hoping Savannah does her own thing... within reason!)

Cats and Robots? #RaisingaReader for #NationalBookLoversDay

There seems to be a "National Day" for everything now.  Some just seem dumb to be, but today is one I can get behind.  Today is National Book Lovers Day!!! You know we love books here and if you follow me on Instagram, I told you I was sharing a couple with you today.

Up first is The Bot that Scott built.  This book is by Kim Norman and I thought the name sounded familiar.  I knew I had read something else by that name and as soon as we started the book, I knew! Come to find out, I have read several by her!!!!   This book is no different, meaning it is a great read!

In "The Bot that Scott Built" we see the disasters that go on all day, as soon as we are introduced to "the bot that Scott built!" Each page is a sing song of adding more onto it, You know, you meet the bot, then you meet the frog, then back to the bot... as each page turns you are curious as to what is going to happen next.  What will the teacher do?  How will the kids react?
You have to read it to find out!

Another book we were sent was one that was just plain silly.  "This is not a cat" is a cute book, with not many words. Perfect for those learning to read, as it really only has about 10-15 different words in the whole book.
In this one, the teacher is trying to explain to the mice exactly what they need to see as "DANGER" showing pictures of what is a cat and what is not a cat.  As with all little ones, they seem to be quickly bored... but does it stay that way? Again, grab it and find out what happens.  We were laughing when we turned the page!

Stay tuned for more books to help make reading fun!

Surprise them with @lootcrate #BacktoSchool AD

I have reviewed Loot Crate subscription boxes before and they really do keep on amazing me with the quality of products.  Not only are the boxes they send out awesome for gamers and "geeks" of all ages, I have been really impressed with their dedication to the customers!

In May they sent out their POWER Loot Crate box.  (I still get all excited seeing the design they come up with when you flip the box inside out upon arrival.)  This box was once again full of cool items.  Not too long after the box arrived, I received an email saying not to use one of the items and to wait for further instructions...  Keep reading.

The power box for Loot Crate - May.
Inside:
Hulk Q Fig
Exclusive War Craft Tshirt
Dragon Ball Z Keychain (I wouldn't use it as a keychain as it is a bit large.,.. but totally could see it being used as a Bag Tag or Zipper Pull.  That is what it will be used for here!)
Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt
Loot Pin

They say that each month will always include a tshirt.  I think that is so cool, as that is one of the best things about these boxes to me.  I have noticed that they have been having different figures inside them as well.  Broxton gets excited about them, so I am always learning more about new things with him these days!

So, remember me mentioning the email about not using a product and waiting for further information?  Seems that they recalled the oven mitt after reports of people being burned when using them.  The next email they sent out was a link for you to claim the replacement.  I love that they immediately sent out an email saying to hold up on using it and to wait for further information.  In my opinion they handled this the best way possible and I am thankful for their commitment to those that subscribe to their boxes.

I am still singing their praises, as I have yet to be disappointed.  With back to school going on, why not subscribe (they have several different loot crate options to choose from) and send along to a  student you know and love that has headed off to college.  "Snail Mail" is so few and far these days, it would be a nice welcome surprise to receive!

For the past 16 years, the Office Depot Foundation has been giving children important tools they need to succeed in school – and in life - at the beginning of the new school year.

This year is no exception.  In 2016, the Foundation - the independent charitable giving arm of Office Depot® (NASDAQ:ODP) - is celebrating the 16th year of its award-winning National Backpack Program by donating200,000 colorful new sackpacks to nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies across the United States and internationally.

By the end of 2016, Office Depot and the Office Depot Foundation will have given away more than 4 million backpacks and sackpacks since the National Backpack Program began in 2001.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to go to school with dignity and hope,” says Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong.  “For most children, the first day of school is an exciting time complete with new clothes and back-to-school gear.  But for kids in families where money is tight, the experience can be just the opposite.  The sackpacks and school supplies we donate help to level the playing field and give these wonderful children a reason to stand just a little bit taller.”

To deliver sackpacks directly to children, the Foundation is hosting Back-to-School Celebrations in select cities across the U.S. in July and August.

Thousands more sackpacks are being given to kids through the Office Depot Foundation’s continuing partnerships with a number of nonprofit organizations serving children nationally and globally. The Foundation is collaborating with the AARP Experience Corps, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, Feed the Children, Food For The Poor, the Kids In Need Foundation, the National Foundation for Women Legislators, Operation Homefront and Samaritan’s Feet International. For the eighth consecutive year, children of the Navajo Nation in Arizona will receive sackpacks.

The specially designed, drawstring-style sackpacks come in seven bright and colorful designs – several of which are new for 2016.  Each one includes a zippered pouch containing a pen, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, six-inch ruler and four crayons. The sackpacks do not have any Office Depot Foundation or Office Depot logos or markings.

More information about the National Backpack Program can be found on the Office Depot Foundation’s Facebook page. To learn more about the Office Depot Foundation and its initiatives, go to www.officedepotfoundation.org/
