So Much To Update

Image
First of all, I want to say Thank - You to those of you that are still around. I know that I have not been blogging much lately, but it is about to change. This summer brought about so much and I wanted to try and update you.. Make sure to come back tomorrow, as that is a good one ;) Up first... Broxton finished Kindergarten.  Where did the time go?  Seems like just the other day I was sending him off to preschool and crying as I walked back to my car.  (Day 2 was harder than Day 1 of preschool, since he did carpool and I literally saw him growing up as he walked in the door!) Well, we now have Kindergarten out of the way and I guess before long he will be headed to college. How does time fly like that?  It can slow down whenever it wants!!!  We all knew he would be finishing school for the summer, so it wasn't a shocker... but so much was going on. My granddaddy passed away.  Yes, I was sad... selfishly sad.  He was 80 and led a great Christian l...

Has holiday break started at your child's school?  It did here, today and I am very excited!  Yes, I love when he is in school, but I love our time together too!  We play, we laugh, we sleep, we watch movies, we snuggle, we read and we even do a little homework!   Yes, you read that right!   We work on homework a bit too!    It doesn't bother Broxton and I love that although we have LOTS of play time, we still do educational things as well!   Maybe we will write a letter, or color a picture... Work on counting or even work on shapes and colors.  Each day is something different, but the great thing is when I have " homework sheets" for him to work on as well!   I wa...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. With Broxton starting Kindergarten, I was planning to label everything... Until the note came home - It said to ONLY label their notebook and their napmat.... Other than that, it was all community use.  I did not think much about it, but once he was in class...  I knew I wanted to label his things - you know, water bottle, lunch box, his book bag.  I think personalized book bags are cute, but I also think they are not safe, having their name on the outside, easy for weirdo creepers to make them think they know them. So, I was offered a chance to check out the labels from Kidecals and I have been really impressed.   We went with the round camo boy stickers.  I like that we ordered the ev...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Around a year ago, we were sent a book to review... It was called Cupcake Jones and the Missing Tutu .  It was super cute, but not really a book for little boys to get into and enjoy.  After I posted the review, I learned that the illustrator had actually hidden the word LOVE into each picture...  That little bit of "extra" was enough to make us go back and read the book just to look for the hidden words!  When Cupcake Jones Won't Go To School showed up, I was so excited!  I was really hopeful that they had continued this extra feature and I was excited to read the book to Broxton, since school is still up in the air for us...    He doesn't like it - since they can't play as muc...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. When the book fair came to Broxton's school, I learned of a new (to me) character... Splat the Cat.   Now, I had never heard of Splat, but Broxton was all to familiar!   I was recently able to review Merry Christmas, Splat from Scholastic and Broxton was pretty excited!   Merry Christmas, Splat is a Read Along DVD with 4 stories on there... Merry   Christmas ,  Splat  (written and illustrated by Rob Scotton, narrated by John Keating):  Splat  is trying hard to be good before Santa's arrival so he can get all the presents he's dreamed of on Christmas  Day! Fletcher and the Snowflake  Christmas  (written by Julia Rawlinson, illustrated by Tiphanie...
