Few More Items To Think About from @AmericasMartATL

With the holidays quickly approaching, I wanted to touch base on a few more of the vendors that were are AmericasMart this past summer....   Many of these vendors only sell wholesale, although some have where you can buy online.  The purpose of me sharing this is two fold... One - so you know these products exist and can look for them.  Two - in case any of my readers own stores (or frequent some and might want to request that they carry certain items.)

Image from - Tin Toy Arcade

One of the cool vendors I saw when I was at AmericasMart was Tin Toy Arcade.
As I started looking at all the items they had, I immediately thought it was a site that my mom and dad would enjoy checking out to take a little trip down memory lane!!!
I was given a Partridge Whistling Flapping Tin Toy to check out and although it is a "classic,"  it is a toy that Broxton has really enjoyed it!    If you are one that loves the classic toys of yesteryear, or know someone who might like a little trip down memory lane themselves, head on over to Tin Toy Arcade and check them out !   I think this would make a great gift idea for several people I know...

Image from - Play Action LLC

Another product I got to check out -  UGA tissues from Play Action LLC.   Of course, as a Bulldog fan, I thought this was awesome, but they had so many sports items to look at, it was nice to see what all is available these days!  Now, you can not order from Play Action LLC, but you can see what products are made and hopefully find them in a boutique near you!  (Or if you are a boutique owner, contact them for purchasing to add to your store!)

Image from - My Drap

For all of you that entertain during the holidays - My Drap.  They are a cloth napkin company.  Not just any cloth napkin though... These can be washed up to 6 times, or you can just use them once and be done.  It comes on a roll, like wrapping paper, but they are quite cute.  I am thinking this would add that extra touch to make any holiday meal (Christmas or Thanksgiving) that little oomph to put it over.  They have several colors to choose from and they offer many choices... cotton or linen?  beverage napkin?  placemat?  Best thing... they even have COLLEGIATE teams!!!  How bout them dawgs?!  Loved seeing that!!!!    (That would be super cute for any die hard fans!!! )

Image - Hype Wipes
Cute stocking stuffer alert!
Hype Wipes... They are these small squares (several cute designs to choose from) that you can stick to your phone/tablet/whatever touchscreen you have.    Then, when the fingerprints are too much to deal with, just peel it off and wipe your screen!  Just stick it back on to where you had it... rinse and reuse to keep your touchscreen products clean and to allow for you to re-stick it!!!
Next product- I could not snag a picture for you... but, it was just too stinking cool!
For those of you that love bubbles... or have kids that love bubbles...
UNCLE BUBBLE -  (That link is to AMAZON where I googled it for you..)
I am not joking... they had the coolest bubbles...
Some you could touch and they would not pop... Some that were so huge I just knew they were going to pop (but they kept getting bigger)  and they even had some that you could bounce on your hand... imagine hackey sack.. but its using your hand... and its a bubble... okay, maybe bad example... just know it was cool.  Although, she had on a glove (not sure if that helps keep it from popping or not, but still super cool!)

I was also really impressed to hear of SallyeAnder Soaps.  They have been around since 1982 and their tagline is "the best soap in America."   I liked seeing that they had such a wide variety of scents to choose from and they even have a pet care line!

Finally - for now - B Ink'd "earrings."  This was cute and they said you can use them on your ears, your nails and even your dolls!!!  Cheaper and not as messy as "drawing tattoos" on the dolls!    This looks perfect for those that think they might want their ears pierced but you just are not so sure...
They have many different designs to choose from and come in a cute little carry case to throw in your suitcase if headed out of town!

The Holiday Heist - Make It A Movie Night

FTC Compliant Review Policy:

Broxton has been wanting a movie night, so I thought what better night than the one to kick off our Thanksgiving Break?  I honestly don't know if he has seen the original Home Alone, so I was excited to see how he was going to react to the lastest version: Home Alone - The Holiday Heist.
Actually, I wanted to see how it was going to be like the original... and I actually enjoyed it!

We started watching it early afternoon and had to leave for a bit... the WHOLE TIME we were gone, he kept asking how much longer until we would be home so that he could finish the movie!

In Home Alone - The Holiday Heist , we meet Finn and his family...
Broxton was a bit scared when Finn was under the impression that his house was haunted by a ghost... As in, he wanted to sit with me and watch it.. but he did talk about being scared...  Then, as I pointed out that it wasn't haunted, but that the crooks were there to rob them!!! Broxton kept saying "He is going to save his house!"  and was thrilled watching what all crazy things he did to protect his house!
This was a cute movie and I think it is a great movie to bundle up and watch this holiday season..
Make it a movie night!

SYNOPSIS:
Home Alone: The Holiday Heist
In the latest installment of the Home Alone franchise, Finn Baxter and his family move from California to Maine to their new house. Finn is terrified and believes the house is haunted. While he sets up traps to catch the "ghost," his parents get stranded across town and Finn is home alone with his sister. Their house is targeted by three thieves.

The Sparkle Box - Tradition Starts This Year #ChristmasCountdown

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

We have THE PERFECT book to read to START our Christmas Countdown.
What book is that?  It is The Sparkle Box.
I am sad to say that I have never heard of The Sparkle Box before... But, I am so glad that I am aware of it now...

In the day and age where many people have forgotten that "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" it is nice to know that this book is out there.
Not only is The Sparkle Box a great book to read for our Christmas Countdown, this is a great reminder for us to all take a look at our selves a bit more.

The Sparkle Box is going to be a tradition that we read each year, as a friendly reminder what the season is all about... Don't get me wrong, my son knows that it is Jesus' Birthday and we go to church..... but I think this will be a great way to explain to him that although people love the presents and decorations ... feelings and traditions of Christmas, we all need to remember that Christmas is so much bigger... The "presents" don't have to be material things...  and they sure don't have to be gifts received...   some things are so much better to give!    This book tells us about a Sparkle Box... but it also includes one at the back of the book for us to participate!  Maybe you have not heard of the Sparkle Box...  Well, it is a beautiful gift that you give to celebrate the birthday of Jesus...  Inside it is full of the "gifts" we have done for others!!!!  I can honestly say I am excited about this book/tradition!

Here is the touching story of a young boy who unknowingly participates in a powerful new Christmas tradition: honoring Jesus on His birthday by giving to others.
Sam is so excited about Christmas! He's thinking about his Christmas list, looking forward to holiday parties, and puzzling over one very mysterious gift: a sparkly box sitting on the mantel. In the midst of the festivities, Sam and his family participate in various acts of kindness to others. On Christmas morning, when Sam finally opens the Sparkle Box, he finds only slips of paper that record the family's good deeds. Sam's mom explains that the things that they've been doing are, in fact, a gift for Jesus, for Jesus said that whatever we do for those in need, we do for Him.

Brownie Groundhog and the Wintry Surprise #ChristmasCountdown

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Another book we will be unwrapping for our Christmas Countdown is Brownie Groundhog and the Wintry Surprise.  This book was cute and I will admit, I had no clue where the story was going...
Brownie the Groundhog heads off to hibernate for winter and tells Fox NOT to eat Bunny, as it was his company...
Next thing you know, Fox is at Brownie's... asking questions... waking Brownie up...
(You can tell Bunny is not comfortable with this at all!)
Fox keeps borrowing things from Brownie and Bunny is the one interpreting correctly what is being said!
I was so lost (in a good way!)  and was eager to see what was going to happen!
Of course, after being constantly bothered... Brownie is awakened...
and comes out to see what is going on...
Fox and Bunny had made a SURPRISE for Brownie!!!

What a cute story!
(But don't go waking me up anytime soon to surprise me!)

Geared for ages 3 and up.

Kids will love this wintry-wonderful follow-up to the popular Brownie Groundhog and the February Fox.

Brownie is ready for a long winter's nap. “Just don't wake me up,” she warns. But her friends miss her so much that they can't bear to obey her orders—and they turn Brownie's “do not disturb” into a comic commotion, complete with a stunningly beautiful nighttime surprise. Susan Blackaby has created a fun romp filled with delightful wordplay, enhanced by Carmen Segovia's illustrations featuring splashes of color against a snowy backdrop.

Fast Giveaway - VTech Switch and Go Dino

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Want to know a gift Broxton will be opening this holiday season?

The VTech Switch and Go Dino!!!! Right now (not sure how long it will be, so hurry up!)  this is going for $11.29 on Amazon!!!  To be honest, that seems really inexpensive!
It is like you are getting two toys in one... and it is from VTech.  (The few VTech items we own have been high quality, so I am thinking this will be as well!)

The one thing that I noticed quickly was that when you turn it on, the digital screen turns to interact with what shape it is in... Meaning, when it is in dino mode, it will have eyes on the digital screen, when it is in jet mode, you will see a pilot.  Oh, the best part to me?  There is an ON/OFF switch on the bottom!  (For those moments when you have just had a bit too much!)

Hard to see, but there are eyes on the screen now.
I have to laugh at myself though... Some of his toys are a bit hard to transform from one thing to another... so I wanted to know if this was going to be one that I could do easily, or if we were going to have to get the big brothers to attempt it and then choose a shape...   I can proudly say that it was easy to figure out!!!   I decided to go ahead and open it now to see and it was a breeze to move it from jet to dino!  It was easy enough that I do believe that Broxton will not have to ask me to change it for him!  Yay!!! Score one for the mommy!!!

Local Easter Seals Ornament Honors My Granddaddy!!!

This is totally going to be a WORDFUL Wednesday Post... It is about my family and I am so very very proud!
Let me give you the run down...
Family - My dad's dad used to own a bicycle shop in my hometown.  He owned it for over 40 years and people all over town have memories of getting their bikes from him.  He passed away over 20 years ago, but his memory lives on!!!
Easter Seals - I am not sure about everywhere else, but at least in my hometown, each holiday season, Easter Seals of Albany releases a new Christmas Ornament.  They some times have the ornament represent something in the city.  For around 10 years now, I have received one of these beauties for my personal tree.  (They $18 each, that includes shipping and $11 can be written off as a tax write off, if my memory serves me right.)
This year, my mom put a lot of thought into it and decided to write Easter Seals to see if there was anything that could be done to recommend making an ornament to honor my grandaddy's memory.
Well, after months and months of communication, it was revealed a couple weeks ago...
They released the 2013 Easter Seals Ornament - Pat's Cycle Shop!!!!
The 2013 Easter Seals Ornament, honoring my grandaddy!!!!

Broxton never had the privilege to meet him, but it was great to be able to get this pictures of him at the reveal!!!

Of course, I had to get a picture of Broxton with my grandmother (his great grandmother!)

The best part of it all was that several of our family members were able to be there for the big day!!!
We drove back to my hometown for the big day!  We met up with several family members at the local Easter Seals location.   The mayor was there and she read a proclamation...   Of course, me being the sentimental / emotional one... I was crying... Just happy that my grandmother was there for the day... Happy that people will have this ornament on their tree for years to come.  My granddaddy sold bikes to make kids happy and what better time than Christmas?
People from Albany buy these for the fact of adding to their collection... People from other places buy these as memories from their past (if they are from Albany) and the great thing with this particular ornament is that people can buy this if they have never even been to Albany... Look at it!  Who didn't have a tricycle like that when they were a kid????
So, if you are interested in buying one (You know I had to put that out there for you all!) Feel free to head on over to the Easter Seals site and order one today!!!

The Gifts They Gave - #ChristmasCountdown

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Adding a  Christmas book to our Christmas Countdown, we will be reading The Gifts They Gave from Sterling Publishing.
Talk about a super sweet book!

Kids don't always think of the gifts that were given to Jesus that night...
I love that The Gifts They Gave help to share more than just the physical items...

Like the donkey...
"I carried his mother uphill and down.
I carried her safely to Bethlehem town."

This is a great book to invoke conversation about that wonderful night!
I can not wait to read it with Broxton and to discuss all the glorious things that happened that night!!!!

Geared for ages 2-5

Jesus our brother, kind and good,
Was humbly born in a stable of wood,
And the friendly beasts around him stood,
Jesus our brother, kind and good.

This beautiful holiday book uses a timeless, beloved Christmas song to tell the story of the nativity. In the manger where Jesus was born, all the animals flock around Him and tell of the special gifts they gave to the infant. From the donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem to the sheep whose wool made the baby a warm blanket and the doves that cooed a lullaby, these fluffy creatures will steal children's hearts. Author/illustrator Patricia Eubank even penned two new verses to include the familiar cat and dog!

We have several of the Fuzzwippers books .... (Mental note, need to look into getting the ones we are missing!  I think there are 2 we need.  There will be 10 in the series once it is completed.)
The latest book that has been released from the Fuzzwippers is "Fuzzwippers have feelings too"
This was a great book with a really important message.
In this book, one fuzzwipper tells the other that no one is going to like him, because of his color fuzz...
That made the blue fuzzwipper so sad and he thinks about changing who is he to fit in...
That is something that you should never do!!!!
Long story short, the first one was worried that the blue would get friends and he wouldn't, so he was trying to hurt his feelings!   (So very wrong!)
A list of tips for children on how to accept and become comfortable with who they are is located inside the back cover. Suggestions include:
1.      Be yourself. You are the only you in the whole world.
2.      Remember that everyone is different and everyone has value.
3.      You have a wonderful gift inside you, and it belongs only to you. It is your mind. It is uniquely yours and you can use it to think for yourself.

While you are checking out the Fuzzwippers... look at the authors blog... She has a new area that is called PLAYGROUND NEWS... It will focus on things parents discuss on the playground!

Great book to add to your library!!!!

Hess Toy Truck Revealed!!!! #HessTruck2013 @HessExpress

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Okay, as a blogger, I learn so much about things that I have never heard of... Not only from other blogs, but from the emails I get talking about different products... Well, for a couple of years now, I have heard of  "Hess Trucks" and this year, I get to tell you about it!!!

Hess Trucks have been around since the 1960's.   The first one was made to be affordable for families ... and here we are, all these years later... with a great toy that comes with a great price tag!

The 2013 Hess Toy Truck is AWESOME!!!  At first, I was thinking that $27.99 might be a bit pricey...
Then, it arrived!  This toy seems like it is made to last and I am so very impressed with it!  The price tag no longer was a factor!!!

For $27.99, you get this HEAVY DUTY Semi truck with a tractor on the back... I was surprised with the quality and realized that for this price, it is a great deal!    (The tractor comes off, I just did not take it off so that you could see how it was packaged.)

I thought it was neat that the lights on it light up.  I figured it was "fancy" enough to have the front lights working, but then when I saw the side lights worked too?  I was totally shocked!
Don't even get me started on the sounds...   It was like a real semi truck was in our house!
(Minus the LOUDNESS of such!)

I almost fell out when I pulled the ramp down...  What the what?!  It made real to life sounds as if it was the real deal!   Of course, I put this up as I will be giving it to Broxton for Christmas... but you know what?  I sure enough pulled it out to show it to Marc when he got home!  I could not wait for him to see it at Christmas... I wanted him to see it NOW!!!!  Get this, he was very familiar with the Hess Toy Truck brand!

If you are looking for a great gift for a transportation lover in your life ... (No matter what age)  I say head on over and order one today!  Each year they release a new design, so if you are to "old" to play with them, you can at least start a collection for years to come!!!!

Follow Hess Trucks - Facebook - Twitter
