I Want @Albert_Bartlett On My Table! Yum

We are a "Meat and Potatoes" family around here...
There is no denying that...

When I was given the opportunity to review the "Rooster Potatoes" from Albert Bartlett, I was eager to try them... I mean, Rooster Potatoes?  I have never heard of such!!!!

Oh My Goodness.
They are SO GOOD.
But here is the deal... these little spuds of love are new to the US.
You see, they are a household name in the UK (for over 60 years) and now, the lucky residents of Georgia and Colorado get to try them out... The drawback?  As with everything that deals with farming and crops... they are only harvested for a limited time... meaning that when they are no longer on the shelves at Wal-Mart, you are just out of luck...

We used them to make smashed potatoes... YUMMY...  and I also used them to make a dish my mom makes from time to time...Just chunk up the potatoes, chunk up some onions and add butter.  Then, bake in the oven!!!!

Now, Let me tell you what I want to try... Thanks to the Albert Bartlett recipe :

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Sprinkle coarse sea salt onto a baking tray, place the potatoes on top and put into the oven.
  3. Bake until tender.
  4. While baking, mix the mozzarella, basil and tomatoes together with salt and pepper.
  5. Remove the potatoes from the oven, cut an “X” in the top of each potato and squeeze the potato to open it up.
  6. Place a spoonful of the tomato and mozzarella mix into each potato and serve while still hot.

Have you ever had Rooster Potatoes?

Toy State Keeps Rolling Out the Toys! #Holidaygiftguide

We have been working on Broxton's Christmas list for a bit now and I thought we were pretty much finished adding items to the list...
Then, about 2 weeks ago, he decided to mess it up and add a dump truck to the list...   Not really sure why it popped in his head... and there is no worry, he has several of them already... but sure enough, he asked for a dump truck!
That made me pretty happy... want to know why?

Because we were sent a box of goodies for review... and one of those items just happened to be a DUMP TRUCK from Toy State.  Yes... they have a CAT Dump Truck!   It lights up and even moves forward!  There is a little button on the side that you press and all the excitement starts!
The truck bed of the dump truck has what appears to be a pile of rocks...   In the rocks is a light, so when you press the button, it lights up and will make kids of all ages smile with fun!!!

We were also sent a DUB Garage RIM Rockerz...
Once again, this is a great size to be a stocking stuffer.  This is also small enough to make a great gift to take when travelling!  It is small enough to not take up much room, but small enough to have loads of fun!  The Rim Rockerz have buttons on them that allow them to light up and make music.
The one we were sent has two buttons.  It has a button that plays music and then the other button allows for it to light up and make engine sounds!
The Dub Garage Rim Rockerz are available in several models as well.
They have Ford Fiesta, Ford Mustang 5.0, Ford F 150, Dodge Challenger, Ford Explorer and Ford Edge.   Also, new for 2012 is the Nissan 370z an the Dub Edition DD6 Supercar.

Scooby Doo - 13 Spooky Tales #holidaygiftguide

Not too terribly long ago, Broxton decided that he likes watching Scooby Doo.  Not really sure where his fascination comes from, but he enjoys watching when he has the chance.
When I saw that Scooby Doo: 13 Spooky Tales  Holiday Chills and Thrills was available, I was eager to try and get it for Broxton.  I was trying to get Christmas presents wrapped, so I thought it would be a great way to keep his eyes off of what I was doing... so, I started the movie for him.
Little did I know that I was going to have him entranced like I had cast a spell over him.  As soon as I started the DVD, he was zoned in and did not take his eyes off of it, until I turned it off a couple shows into it.  The DVD is 2 discs, so I know there is still plenty left to be enjoyed later!!!!

Falling In Love with the Voice Of Elizabeth Mitchell

I do not get to listen to music that much these days..
If we are in the car, it is either Marcs music or Broxton talking, or Broxtons music or a show/movie...
Well, I have to tell you something... I wanted to review the CD, Elizabeth Mitchell & you are my flower:  Blue Clouds,  for Broxton.. but now it is for me too!
As soon as I put the CD in, the song, "Hop Up, My Ladies" immediately had me hooked!
It says that this is a CD that is traditional folk and classic rock... for kids...
But I am for real enjoying it!!!
The Hop Up song has been going on a loop in my head... Not a bad way either...
Each song has you falling more in love with the voice of Elizabeth Mitchell and the CD has been on replay over and over again....
Put it this way, we do not listen to CD's in the house that often... but we have been since blue clouds arrived!

I had no clue that some of these songs were covers (I am not a big classic rock listener)  but after learning this, I wonder what Marc would think, since he loves classic rock...

Here is a little more about the CD:

The recordings on Blue Clouds are illuminated by elegant and simple arrangements, with acoustic guitars, harmoniums, banjos, pianos, fiddles, glockenspiels, and gentle drums and bass creating a soulful atmosphere for Mitchell’s clear and loving voice. The songs range from new compositions (“Rollin’ Baby,” “Arm in Arm”) to traditional tunes (“Hop Up, My Ladies,” “Froggie Went a-Courtin’”), to several unexpected covers. Mitchell looks to her childhood memories of 1970s radio on road trips in the family station wagon, and the resulting versions of “Kooks” by David Bowie, “May This Be Love” by Jimi Hendrix, “Blue Sky” by The Allman Brothers Band, “Everyone” by Van Morrison, and “I Wish You Well” by Bill Withers display Mitchell’s care in presenting popular material in a family music context.

Do you have any songs/artists that you can listen to over and over again?

Photo Gifts With @MailPix #Giveaway #holidaygiftguide

If you know me at all, you know that I love personalized gifts... and photo's are just wonderful for me!!!  I have loved the photo ornaments that we have from the years of the boys... I really love anything to do with pictures... They really are worth a thousand words in my book!
I recently had the chance to review for MailPix and they had so much to choose from that I was able to get a couple great gifts!!!!  (Yes, they might be for me.. but still great gifts!!!  I just know how to shop for what I want!  lol!)

MailPix has such a great variety of products.  Not to mention that they are not only great gift ideas, but they seem to have really good prices if you want to get photo prints!

You know one thing I got?  A photo puzzle for Broxton.
I figured it would be something fun to do with him... and something for him to be able to enjoy for years to come.  I went with a picture of him... with his brothers and his daddy!!!  Yes, I do realize that the puzzle is a bit to young for him right now, but he can still help and take pride in the accomplishment of completion!
I thought the fact of it being a puzzle of them would be cool enough..
But, I think I was most impressed with the packaging!  It comes in a tin that has the photo on it as well!  That was just too cool!!!!  (They should sell tins with the photo's as another gift idea!)
I also chose to give myself  a gift...
With Marc being military, there is always that worry about him being called up for deployment.  When he deployed last time, I kept one of his shirts and I ended up putting it on a pillow beside me... I had that and then I had a picture of him hanging on the wall...
Well, this time around... I have a pillowcase!!!
I was able to take one of the photos that I have of Marc in uniform and I printed it on my photo pillowcase

Finally, with Broxton being in Pre-K, I wanted a special ornament for us to remember this milestone.  I chose the commemorative ornament because I wanted to have something special, but I also wanted to see the quality of their printing on different objects.
By choosing the ornament, the pillowcase and the puzzle, I was able to see the finished result on several different forms!!   I was very impressed with the result and I know that they are all gifts that will be treasured for years to come!!!

Band of Misfits

Relive your summer this December 18th with Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy

Everybody’s favorite wimp, Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), is back for three times the fun in the latest film based on the super-popular book series! When Greg’s dad (Steve Zahn) threatens to send him to military school if he doesn’t stay out of trouble, Greg finds all-new ways to land himself in the doghouse! For starters, Greg’s in over his head when he pretends to work at the swanky country club where Rowley’s family has a membership. Things don’t go much better on a father-son camping trip with the Wilderness Explorers, and then there’s the Heffley’s new dog, Sweetie, who fetches even more trouble for Greg in this hilarious family film!
Greg and his friends Rowley, Chirag and Fregley often find themselves in trouble as they try to have the most relaxing summer yet.  In this feature, we will highlight other bands of misfits in films including those from The GooniesSuper 8 and The Little Rascals

The Goonies
The 1985 adventure-comedy film The Goonies follows a group of neighborhood friends who are on a mission to find forgotten treasure in order to save their homes from being demolished. Using an old Spanish map, a newspaper clipping, and artifacts found in an attic, the boys trek the Oregon coast looking for the treasure they believe belonged to the pirate known as One-Eyed Willie. After surviving several booby traps, the group eventually finds One-Eyed Willie’s ship filled with treasure and gold but realize they are not the only ones who want it.

Super 8
J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi flick chronicles the journey of teenage friends who discover a huge alien operation when trying to film a small-budget zombie film. They witness a terrifying train crash that is surrounded with small, white cubes that seem to have appeared from nowhere. Following the crash, several strange events happen around town including dogs running away, people disappearing, and electronics being stolen. They got caught up in all the alien action and manage to make a pretty epic film.

Little Rascals
One of the rowdiest gangs in film is the “The He-Man ‘Womun’ Haters Club” from the 1994 classic Little Rsacals. The boys-only team is led by Spanky, a loud-mouthed kid who is determined to win the local go-cart race. He rallies his troops who include the love-stricken Alfalfa, the methodical vice-president Stymie, and the most adorable member ever, Buckwheat to name a few. Despite their cute looks and small statures, these rascals find themselves in plenty of trouble from crashing a dance recital, to ruining romantic boat rides, and even setting their clubhouse on fire.

The Sandlot
The boys of the Sandlot think they rule the town when it comes to the game of baseball in the 1993 sports comedy. The teenagers find themselves in plenty of mishap as they are figuring out how to be grown men during the summer of ‘62. Some misadventures include risking drowning in order to be saved by the hot lifeguard, trying chewing tobacco at the city fair, and stealing a baseball signed by Babe Ruth in order to keep a game going. All in all, the boys of the Sandlot have one heck of a summer that they will never forget.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
Greg Heffley seems to get into trouble no matter where he goes especially with his friends Rowley, Chirag, and Fregley. The boys cause a ruckus at all the favorite summer spots including the local country club, Rowley’s family beach house, a nearby amusement park, and in the great wilderness while on a camping trip. The addition of Greg’s new family dog doesn’t make matters any better for the group but seems to cause even more trouble! The boys’ shenanigans take place throughout the film, even to the end when Greg attempts to impress his crush at her sister’s 16th birthday party.

Christmas Angel on GMC - Family Movie Night

Before you stop reading because of the dates in the picture...
Let me START by telling you that CHRISTMAS ANGEL will broadcast on the GMC channel Friday December 7th.
We had the chance to review this early and it was a great movie..

It stars Della Reese and Tamera Mowry-Housley as the two names I knew.
Kick off the holiday season with a great family movie!!!

Here is the Synopsis:
Olivia is not like most fifth graders. She is being raised by Melinda, a single mother who works at a bustling local bakery run by her good friend Daphne, the mother of Olivia’s best friend and classmate. Olivia has a heart of gold that shines through in her good intentions – and her imagination. During the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, a mysterious lady quietly moves into the house next door. The house has been uninhabited since the owner, Dr. Nathan Davis, left town abruptly. When some of the neighborhood kids’ Christmas wishes suddenly begin to come true, Olivia is convinced that the town’s newcomer is an angel – and she is determined to prove it.

As soon as the movie started, I knew that the little girl, Olivia had a heart of gold on her.  Where as most kids would have either made jokes or would not have given another thought about the little boy in her class that really wanted a bike, but knew he could not afford it because his foster parents could not afford it... Olivia could not stop thinking about it and really wanted his wish to come true.
I really enjoyed this movie and already told my grandmother that she needs to watch it.
Talk about a feel good movie that lets you know that there are good kids out there that do still care about one another.
Yes, Olivia is a sweet heart, but don't think she is perfectly innocent.  She not only doesn't listen from time to time, she also tries to play match maker to her mom!  Just as all kids do, she has her moments!
I am looking forward to watching this movie again soon!  Make sure you tune in to GMC on Friday the 7th to watch it too!

Love Toy Trains? @Videos4Kids @giveaway #HolidayGiftGuide

If you know anyone what so ever that loves Toy Trains... I have THE. BEST. GIFT. EVER. to tell you about.  Broxton loves trains and he will watch video of real or toy ones... It does not matter... You can tell by his love of trains that we watch all the time.
When I heard of the DVD set, Lots and Lots of Toy Trains, I knew Broxton would love it.
We already have one DVD that he watches, so I was ready for his excitement.
When I put the new DVD on, he was NOT very happy.  It was not the one he normally watched, so he wanted me to turn it off.  I didn't, so he watched for a few more minutes and was hooked!!!! We actually took Volumes 1 and 2 on a road trip with my dad.  I did not know how Broxton was going to do riding for such a long trip and I did not know how my dad or his friend would like riding with a kid, so I was trying to be prepared.    We packed the new DVDs, a couple of true favorites, books and other activities for the trip.
Well, all the other stuff was not needed, he watched those 2 DVD's over and over..
(Meaning when he was not occupied looking at all we passed...)
They were a huge hit!!!!

The Lots and Lots of Toy Trains Set is currently on sale for $29.95.  This set is 3 DVDs and even includes a CD!     As I said, if you have toy train fans in your family, this would be a hit, no matter what age!   (Broxton was excited that they even had a toy CSX train... that is where his daddy works, so that was an added bonus!)    I like that they have music to go with watching the trains and actually I did not notice the narrator talking that much, so it was not distracting, if you want it as background filler to amuse the train fan/collector while you do other activities!!!!

Love Styling Your Hair? @Hotironholster #HolidayGiftGuide

If you style your own hair, or if you have  a daughter... or even a son with long hair...
You want to read this!  I recently had the opportunity to review the Hot Iron Holster and I tell you, it is a must for all houses where hair care goes on!!!!
This is just the coolest product!!!!
The Hot Iron Holster is basically a MUST HAVE pouch to hold your Hot Iron...
Be it  a flat iron or a curling iron... It is a need!!!!
I was sent one in white and I think that I need to get a couple in other colors to add a spice of color to our bathroom.  (They come in other colors:  Black, Purple and Pink.)  What makes this so special is that it sticks to the sink or counter top with out any suction cups or anything...
The Hot Iron Holster is like a really thick rubber material "cup" with a rubber "mat" that you lay on the counter.  I love that it is wide enough that I could lay my flat iron on the top while working on my hair, but that it isn't so wide that it makes it hard to maneuver.  I actually used mine on the space between our sink and the side of the counter.  It is a smaller area, but I wanted to be able to not have it hanging in the way of me opening my drawer.
Knowing the small area in a college dorm, this would be a great gift!
I remember in my dorm we shared the bathroom/shower, but we had a sink/mirror in our room.  We didn't have much counter space by the sink, so this would have been perfect for our room!  You could even mix/match the colors based upon what type of hot iron, or one color for each roommate!

But seriously, you do not need to be in college to need/want one of these...
I think they are awesome and they can "stick" anywhere, without messing up the area of contact!!!!
Make sure you follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Core Bamboo and a Discount Code

While Christmas gets closer and closer, we need to not only remember to get great gifts to make those faces smile when they unwrap their gifts, but we also need to make sure that we are prepared for hosting all those people at your house!
I saw Core Bamboo online and I was immediately hooked at the different designs that they had!
Up first, I was checking out the bamboo banana hanger.  We eat tons of banana's here and we could really use this!  The ones I have seen are like cheap looking plastic, so the fact that this was bamboo made me know that I would not mind having it sit out on the counter for guests to grab a banana while visiting!

We were sent a very chic 3 part entertainment set and I love it.  I am telling you, it is so nice and classic.  The design of the natural bamboo and the crisp white ceramic bowls.  This is such a great item.  I think it would be great to have sitting out for guests.  You could fill it with snacks of some sort for guests to munch on.  You could also have an assortment of candies out if that is what you want.
I also think that if you had a bunch of guests over, you could have a sandwich station and fill it up with gourmet toppings or sandwich spreads.  It is large enough to hold a good amount, but it isn't so big that it would hold side items for families, nor would it take up that much space!
At the price of only $25, I think it would actually make a great hostess gift!
Head on over to their site so that you can score great savings!
Not to mention, they have current discount codes to help you save!
(Look at the bottom of this image for 2!)
Core Bamboo has great products and great prices... I think that anyone opening up a gift from Core Bamboo would be really happy!
