I admit, math has NEVER been a strong subject for me...
I wish I was more like my dad and my brother, it just comes natural to them...
I wish I was like them in that aspect... But, I do plan on doing everything I can to help Broxton!

When I saw that there was a book, Bedtime Math, I was excited...
As much as Broxton LOVES books... especially at bedtime, I knew this was going to be fun!
I great "short story" to read... with a math problem to go with it!
YES!!!!

Bedtime Math is great for kids of all ages!
It says it is for ages 3-8.
This book is one to grow with..

On each page, you have a "story"  The story is basically a paragraph that is sure to keep kids attention (not to mention the illustrations!)  Then, the opposite page has 3 different "problems."  They are divided up Wee Ones, Little Kids and Big Kids...

Bedtime Math Chapters:
Exploding Food
Wild Pets
Extreme Vehicles
Sports You Shouldn't Try at Home
Really Odd Jobs

The answers to the problems are on the bottom (upside down) of the page...
For those that are not great at math, they also show the problem at the back of the book!

If you are looking for a book to not only stimulate the mind, but also to have you laughing...
You will love Bedtime Math!
( I Know Broxton has asked me to read it to him several times now!)

I tell you, we love learning about different things...
The great thing about my blogging, is that some of the CD's, DVD's and Books that we get....
Well, some get sent in to Broxton's class for them to enjoy from time to time.

I am thinking that Marsh Mud Madness might be one that heads in for a day or two...
I was not really sure what to think when Roger Day showed up in my mailbox...

It was a DVD about MARSH MUD.
What can you expect?!
Well, this was nothing like what was in my mind, that is for sure!!!
Marsh Mud Madness has Roger Day putting on a concert for school children.
It is a DVD of his concert, but they also add footage of the things he is singing about...
I loved that they had the kids singing and dancing in their seats... all about the marsh!!!

Read more about Marsh Mud Madness HERE:
Produced by the Savannah Music Festival and Roger Day, with support from the Georgia Sea Grant and the Courtney Knight Gaines Foundation, the video features engaging information about the plants and animals that make up the Atlantic coastal ecosystem, interspersed with Day performing 12 original songs about goopy mud, fascinating coastal animals and the waters and plants of the marsh itself, in front of a live audience of thousands of kids.

In fact, over the past two years, more than 30,000 children in several states have learned about the Atlantic marshland ecology via Roger’s Marsh MudMadness songs.

Three years in the making, this video began in 2009 when Roger spent five days exploring Sapelo Island, a barrier island south of Savanna, GA. There, he learned about the fragile ecosystem from scientists at the University Georgia Marine Institute. Georgia Sea Grant sponsored the visit, and they commissioned Day to compose a program of songs about the Georgia coast for elementary school audience. While watching turtles nest and trekking through the maritime forest, Day wrote a song cycle about the importance of habitat and watershed health, the abundance of creatures that depend on the state’s water resources and how individuals can help protect the coastal eco-system.

It has been hard to have movie nights lately...
Not sure what is going on with Broxton but he is extra clingy and will not be in the other room without me... So, it makes it hard to watch anything that might be a bit inappropriate for him...
When I read the synopsis of Movie 43, I was thinking it was a movie that I might find hilarious (but then again, I see my enjoyment changing in my movie choices, so I am not sure yet)  I tried to watch a few minutes with him in the same room... but that is like telling a kid NOT to play with a room of toys... He had to see what I was doing...
The movie starts with Kate Winslet on a blind date that is just WRONG!  Ha ha ... I found it pretty dumb, but I was also cracking up laughing at the same time... Maybe it was how she was handling it all...maybe it was the different scenarios being shown... either way, it was stupidly funny... but not for Broxton in the room... So, I put it up and plan to watch again when he isn't so clinging and needing me 24/7.
Until then...  Check out the cast...  I mean HOW AWESOME is it?!
Oh, I will tell you this... It isn't that the whole cast interacts with one another... it is like several movies wound into one...   other than that... you have to see for yourself!

Synopsis
You’ve never seen anything quite like Movie 43... The year’s most outrageous and daringly original comedy, featuring the ultimate star-studded cast. No inappropriate storyline is off limits...including a “ballsy” blind date, a middle school “period” piece, and more. Please don’t sue us if you die laughing.

Summer Plans? #AlohaFriday

I have missed Aloha Friday, but life has been a bit hectic, so I am not sure I would have been able to participate either way...
But... It seems like Colette and Pamela are Bringing It back!!!!

Keeping with Kailani's rules:

“In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. – Kailani

My Aloha Friday Question:

How has your summer been so far?  Any fun things planned?

For us...
I said it has been hectic!   We bought our first home!  The boys were here visiting...  We went out of town a few times to see my family... and then Broxton had Staph Infection that we had a hard time dealing with...

So............  Not much "fun" as far as going anywhere... but still.. Making Memories...
Isn't that was it is all about????

Hope all is well and you are enjoying your summer!!!!

21 and Over Movie #review

I have now fully determined that being married, being a mom and being older, I just do not find things as funny as I once did...  I mean, I used to be able to watch all sorts of movies and find the humor throughout it... That is not the case now...
Let me say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED The Hangover...
That being said, I was excited to see the movie, 21 & Over, as it is from the writers of The Hangover...   But, we could not watch it.
First of all, I hate to give bad reviews, but this is my blog and I hope that you look to it for honest information...   We put the movie on ....  I am not exaggerating when I say that it felt like every other word was the f-bomb.  I just do not get what the deal is that people feel the need to curse like that.  Once again, honesty here... I am not perfect... I use words that are not appropriate... but come on...
I think we tried it for about 10 minutes (if even)  It totally felt like "The Hangover" just with younger kids...  To the point of pulling up in the cab and yelling what not...  It was totally the same movie, just younger kids and even MORE foul language...

But- I do know that everyone has different tastes, so just because we did not make it through, doesn't mean that it isn't for everyone...   That being said, I wanted to share the synopsis, you might enjoy it!

Synopsis
From the writers of The Hangover comes a movie 21 years in the making. Straight-A college student Jeff Chang (JUSTIN CHON of the Twilight Saga) has always done what’s expected of him. But when his two best friends Casey (SKYLAR ASTIN of Pitch PerfectWreck-It Ralph) and Miller (MILES TELLER of The Spectacular Now,Project XRabbit Hole) surprise him with a visit for his 21st birthday, he decides to do what’s unexpected for a change, even though his critical medical school interview is early the next morning. What was supposed to be one beer becomes one night of chaos, over indulgence and utter debauchery in this outrageous comedy.

Blu-ray Special Features:
 Levels of Intoxication
 Tower of Power
 Gag Reel
 Theatrical Trailer

Awesome! Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness

With the boys here, we don't have time to watch much television..
When we do, there is normally a discussion over what to watch, as they don't want to watch the cartoons that Broxton watches and I am not having Broxton watch some of the things they watch...  That was why I was excited when Kung Fu Panda : Legends of Awesomeness showed up.  I knew that as much as we all love the "Furious Five," we would all enjoy this...
The thing was... Everyone was too busy to sit down and watch a movie...
That was great... as this is a DVD with several episodes on there...
So, you don't have to commit an hour or longer for a movie, this is awesome, as you have several episodes at shorter times!

When we went to see Monsters University, they had a preview announcing Disney's Teen Beach Movie.    Growing up, I used to LOVE to watch the movie, Back to the Beach with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello...  I feel like Teen Beach Movie is going to be along those same lines...   The 12 year old and I talked about how this looked like a good movie and I was even more excited to learn that we could watch it at home!
We have tried watching a couple different movies lately, while Broxton played in his area... But, it seems like EVERY MOVIE has to be full of foul language these days.  I am really looking forward to July 19th... That is when Teen Beach Movie is going to premier!!!!
To get us geared up for a great Family Night in ...
We were sent a great gift set to hype up our excitement!!!

What all did we get???

A teen beach doll...   a beach bag that I am in love with, popcorn and popcorn buckets (that will be used night of the movie.  We are saving them until then!)  a Teen Beach poster (that Broxton has already hung on his door)  tattoos and a bracelet ...  an inflatable surf board (photo's to come soon.. Broxton has been sick and now that he is good to go, we have NASTY weather!)  cute cut out glasses (just wait... photo posted later on this.. I LOVE IT!)  a different cute bag (Broxton has claimed it, one side is "for boys" and the other is "for girls")  and most awesome of all... a video recorder for us to make our own "beach movie!"  Guess we will call it Preschool Beach Movie at our house!!!

PLOT:
"Teen Beach Movie" follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, “Wet Side Story.”  There, it's surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout…and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance.  Now, Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently alter the movie's romantic storyline when handsome surfer Tanner falls for McKenzie and biker girl Lela starts swooning for Brady.

We love to read around here... Not only is it a great way to "escape" and enjoy other things...
I love it as it is a teaching tool as well.
4 Sunflowers Media has another great book in the Fuzzwippers Series.
This is Fuzzwippers Make Good Helpers, by Marilynn Halas.

Broxton has been asking me to read this to him on different occasions.
I love the story in this, like all the Fuzzwipper Books!!!
In this book, Elizabeth and her fuzzwipper pal, Fuzzina set to help out the community.
When the two of them started outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, they saw how sad and neglected the community garden was...
They enlisted the help of their friends and turned it back into the beauty that it once was, one that everyone could enjoy!!!
I loved it because it showed how EVERYONE can help...  and that you don't have to do something for a physical reward... they helped make the community garden beautiful for everyone to enjoy!!!
As with all Fuzzwipper books, they also want to make sure to share the most important message of all ...
YOU ARE LOVED!!!!
This is a great book to read... especially now that you CAN get outside and make something beautiful!!!!

Making Memories at the Mill. W/W

While the boys were here, we decided to go back over to where we used to live...
It is the Roswell Mill.
I used to go there to take pictures when I was in school... and Marc had taken the boys in the past...
Talk about things changing!!!  They now have a covered bridge (that was not there last time I went, that I remember) and they have walking trails now...
Okay.  Let me say this, the PLAN was to go to an AIR CONDITIONED MUSEUM... and we ended up walking all around outside in the heat.  I am glad I had my camera, but I was totally not up for this...
It ended up being fun, so that is all that matters, right?

Marc and the boys...

Love water shots...

I just thought this was neat the way the greenery was growing/cut at the angle.
I was walking at my own pace, taking pictures of all sorts of things, when I noticed an arrow drawn in the ground.  Broxton told Marc that they needed to leave me "clues" to know where they were...   My sweet boy, always looking out for his mommy!!!!

After walking a bit, you come to this beauty!!!!

I am not one for walking and climbing, so I let Marc go on and climb down with Broxton, while I stayed up top... I just get to nervous!!!!

Yet another water shot, I told you I love them!!!

The Mill.. Here is one piece of the old run down equipment.

Another piece of the Mill.
(They have signs around everything to let you know the story behind them... I just did not take pictures of them.  Sorry.)

Another part of the Ruins of the Mill.

Daddy and the boys looking out.

How has your summer been so far?

Pool Safety Essentials

I was not asked to post this... I just figure summertime means more pool days... and we can never be too safe.
We are outside all the time... and have already had a couple pool play date / birthday party invites...
These items mentioned look too cute...

Poolside Safety Essentials

Kid-Friendly Goggles: We all know the sting from opening your eyes under chlorine water but as a kid, seeing what lurks in the depths of the pool is just too tempting! To make sure that your little divers eyes aren’t red when they come up for air, pack a Fun Kids Dive Mask. The playful character dive masks are fun for kids and comfortable too!

Germ Fighting Wristband: With public pools and restrooms comes a slew of germs! Since it isn’t always easy to quickly wash your kids’ hand – and since we don’t always know what exactly they got their hands on, a sanitizer wristband, like Halo Sani-Cuffs keep kids entertained, stylish and germ-free. This healthy accessory - a wearable, refillable, dispenser of hand sanitizer distributed at the push of a button - gives parents peace-of-mind that their little ones are never more than an arm’s length away from fighting germs.

Mini First Aid Kit – Its inevitable for kids to get a few scrapes while fooling around on the water slides or in the sand and since we can’t protect them 24/7, you can always ensure you will be there to help them feel better after they get hurt! Be best prepared with a mini first aid kid and know that you will have everything you need to patch them up!

Fun Floaties – It is always important to bring kids to places where adults and lifeguards are present, but with so many children running around it can be easy to slip and fall-in. With Aqua Leisure Fabric Floaties, kids will not only be safe, but you can keep them stylish as well! These are also a great addition for the little ones who are new to the poolside scene!

Insect Repellant: As soon as your little ones are done swimming, the sooner mosquitoes start swarming. To prevent those nasty, itchy bites after a day at the pool, spray your kids down with BiteBlocker – a family safe insect repellent that’s both sweat proof and safe for kids!

Safe Sunscreen: A day in the sun could mean a night full of tears if your kids aren’t protected from the summer rays. To avoid sunburns without having to reapply sunscreen each time they take a dip in the pool, try a water resistant and pediatrician tested sunscreen like Coppertone’s Wet n’ Clear for Kids.

Monsters University Full Of Laughs For All

Lately there has been much chatter about the latest "Monsters" movie..
Monsters University has just been released in theaters and IT IS AWESOME!!!!

We had the chance to go to an advance screening and we had a blast...
It was in 3D and I was so happy that Broxton actually wore the glasses the whole time.
Well, okay... not the WHOLE time... He did take them off at one point to check out the crowd... Our row consisted of us and then a group of cheerleaders in their uniform... so, I guess I couldn't be mad at him!

Back to the movie....
It started with a Pixar Original, Blue Umbrella...
It was cute...   a bit slow for Broxton to enjoy, so obviously not one for the little ones... but I loved it!!!!

Monsters University is the PREQUEL to Monsters Inc.
It actually has Mike and Sulley in their younger days...

I thought it was awesome and I was enjoying hearing Marc bust out laughing too!!!
In Monsters University, we learn that Mike has ALWAYS wanted to be a scarer...    When he was younger, he was on a field trip and met a Monsters University alum... thus sealing his decisions that he just HAD to go there when it was his time...     Once at M.U.  he meets Sulley...   the "natural born" scarer... It is in his genes....     Now, that is all I am going to tell you, you have to go watch to see what happens...
I was laughing throughout... as was Marc and the boys...

Let me know if you go...   If you are a fan of Monsters Inc... YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!
(If not, it's about time you were!)

NFL Camp Memories and a #Giveaway

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

So, I have been talking about the NFL Football camp that the boys went to, but I have yet to tell all of you about it.  (I really apologize, I will blog about that later...)  Anyways, as a blogger, I get plenty of emails each day... I love it and I love when great opportunities come my way.
This was no exception!!!  We had the chance to have the boys go to a Football camp for the day.
The 12 year old is IN LOVE with football... and he hopes to make it to the NFL down the road.  The 15 year old loves sports, so I knew he would like it too.
This was such a neat day...

First of all, I believe it was like the third year they did it...
(Our first year, but hopefully not the last.)
The camp was held at Cartersville High School.  Come to find out, the two guys that put the camp on, Ronnie Brown and Andre Fluellen, are from Cartersville.  They host this camp as a way to give back to the community that supported them.

We got there and they had registration for an hour.  After that, they divided the kids up by age...   and then they started the camp.
Now, this was from what I saw as a parent, so don't hold me to this...

They had all the kids in the different groups and they rotated training area's....
It appeared as though there were 4 football players from Cartersville High....     With that they had a coach working with them  and then at least one NFL player.
The kids would work in one area of training for like 15-20 minutes and then they would go to the next area on the field.    I loved that they had coolers all around with water for the participants and their families...
(They also had a medical station readily available.)

After the camp, they had lunch for the participants and their families...
Cici's Pizza and Powerade!!!!

After lunch, they had an autograph signing.
They had all the participants go into an auditorium and sit in the middle seats...
As each kid entered, they were given an autograph card, a raffle ticket and a goody bag!!!
They had a raffle drawing and gave out several prizes... different gift cards, signed footballs and even "beats" headphones!!!!

I would tell you their names, but I am honestly not sure... Sorry...
Then, the players entered and they all sat up front.
Each row of kids were able to come up and get their autographs...
They could get their shirt autographed (each participant got a free shirt) or they could get their autograph card signed...  We actually brought autograph footballs for each of the boys to have them sign.

The boys were so excited to get to meet the different players... and they were so thrilled to have their picture taken with them!!!!  (If you notice this picture, it actually has all three of the boys that were at the camp... and look at the ring on the guys hand... SUPER BOWL RING!)
My guys were so excited and had such a great day!!!!!!
A HUGE thanks to Ronnie and Andre for doing this camp... As well as Deon and Nakia for making it possible for my boys to be there!!!!
Now... Because I love you....
I was able to grab 2 goody bags to give as a giveaway!!!!
The bag has the camp information on it ...
Inside is a DVD copy of the Hunger Games, a baseball cap from the G.I. Joe Movie and other items!

I tell you this...
If you are in /near Cartersville, Georgia ... You should keep an eye / ear out and plan on participating in this camp next year.  This year, it was open for kids in grades 5-12.

Red Baron's New Offerings #giveaway

Summer for us is always rather busy.
Not a bad thing, but there is always so much going on... and we try to make as many memories as possible!

As most know, the boys have been here visiting...

Me being in a house full of males is a job in itself!!!

Especially when it come to feeding them!
Just think...  Boys ages 4, 12, 15 and 17...

Whew!!!!

When I heard about Red Baron's new line, I knew that this was something the boys would be all about!!! Out of the 4 of them, one is the picky eater... As in cheeseburger is just meat, cheese and bun.  Sandwich is just meat and bread.  So, I was a bit nervous about how he was going to do with our tastings of the pizza's.  (To be honest, I had hotdogs in the fridge as a back up for him...)
Red Baron is introducing three new offerings:

Classic Crust Hawaiian
Fire Baked Spicy Pepperoni
and
Deep Dish Singles Hawaiian

We mostly shop at one or two places for our groceries and they were low on inventory on the days that we went, so I was not able to try all of the "new offerings" but let me tell you this...
As impressed as we were with what we had, I will be buying again!!!
Pepperoni
Hawaiian
 Mexican

I was totally impressed with all of the pizza's.  Actually ALL the boys were... even the picky eater!!!
The flavor was great... The crust was ABSOLUTELY fantastic!!!
I am a fan of the thick crust... Marc loves the thin crust..
This worked out great, as it was not too thin, but wasn't thick either...
It meets the likes for both of us to be pleased!!!!

I think that the Deep Dish Singles would be great for when you are fixing dinner in a hurry...
Or, if you have company coming over, you could prepare several in different flavors to please all pizza fans!!!
You gotta love a pizza face!!!!
