50 Customized Thank You Cards - Giveaway

********This contest has ended********

I am not sure about you, but I was brought up to always send thank you cards.
It seems that the simple gesture of saying Thank you has somehow been forgotten through the years.
I know when I got engaged, as soon as we received a gift, we tried to send a thank you card out ASAP.
After the showers, I gave myself a week to send them out.
Same for when Broxton was born.
As soon as we received a gift, I was writing my note...
Now, I am not perfect and sometimes I took a bit longer than I should have, but I still did it..

Well, is letting one of my lucky readers win a customized set of 50 Thank-You cards!
These cards are made with high quality paper and cardstock.
Don't you want to win a set?
I know that we ALL have a reason or another to send a Thank you note...
The holidays are approaching, you could use them then!

Aloha Friday # 9

So, as Kailani over at
Island Life says...

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
Being born and raised in the SOUTH... (South Georgia)
I have always heard not to cut a baby boy's hair until his first birthday.
I am not sure if it is a southern thing or what...
BUT, B will not be getting his hair cut until then.
My ALOHA FRIDAY Question is this:
Did you cut your baby boy's hair before his first birthday?
Have you ever even heard of this "tradition?"

Big Girls Don't Cry - Book Review

I just finished reading, "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Cathie Linz.
I hate to admit this, but up until a few weeks ago, I have never even heard of her.

But, I saw a list of her current books and THEN, I saw it..
With a name like "Big Girls Don't Cry" I knew I had to read it!
From the very first line of the book, I was hooked!
"Broke and skinny beat out broke and chunky every time. "
Hello?! I am feeling you already!
The tile of the book alone made me want to read it and I am glad I did.

I looked at Cathie's website and realize that she actually had her first book published in 1982.
Cathie is a Romance writer...
and let me just tell you, she can get pretty steamy in there!
Remember the friends episode where Joey finds Rachels book? The one under the bed?
Well, Rachel should read this!

I have never been a "Romance" reader before...
but after reading this book, I know I will be reading the other books by Cathie.
Cathie allows for the scenes to get pretty steamy, sexy and seductive!

The book follows the life of Leena, a plus size model that has returned to her hometown to get control of her life. She goes from being a model in Chicago, to working as a receptionist in her hometown at a veterinarians office, not just ANY veterinarians office, I might add!
Her sister has her up on a pretty high pedestal and Leena is not really comfortable with the attention, nor her sisters friends!
I love the wide mix of characters that Cathie has in the book!
Skye, LuLu, Aunt Nancy and Sister Mary! I love them all!
This book had me laughing out loud at some parts and I can not wait to see where this heads from here!

From her website:

Leena may be down on her luck—but big girls don’t cry.
They get even...
Leena Riley has returned to her hometown of Rock Creek with her tail between her legs. Her fabulous plus-size modeling career in Chicago never took off, and now the only job she can land is as a receptionist in a veterinarian’s office. She has to be desperate to work for Cole Flannigan…
Being two years older than Cole never spared her from his taunts in school. Now all grown up, Cole is still the golden boy, a sexy charmer with commitment issues and a short attention span—until Leena and her curves strut into his life. And though she turns his office upside-down, he can’t resist the animal attraction that makes him look at Leena in a whole new light…
I can not wait to read the other books by Cathie!

Meet - Ward Wright

I'm using my blog to ask a HUGE favor for all of my readers...
I have a story that I need to share.

I went to college with two of the very sweetest people.
Tom and Maranda.
Well, after college, everyone headed in their own direction.
Just in the past year, their name came up again.

They ended up getting married and have built a very beautiful family.
This past year, their little boy, Ward was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

I am asking you all for your prayers for them.
They need prayers to face all that lies ahead.
They need prayers that the doctors will know what to do.
Ward needs your prayers in overcoming this!

I received an email today for a prayer request:

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 4:37 AM, EST
We are desperately seeking your prayers. Ward has only slept an hour and a half tonight and is in agony because of his unexplained itching. He has received every type of anti-itch medication and cream available with absolutely no relief. He is suffering beyond belief right now and it is killing us to watch. Our health care team has no answers for us and are treating on a trial and error basis. The Lord has made himself so very present during this entire journey however I am having a very hard time understanding the suffering. Nobody has ever, or will ever, experience the suffering of Jesus Christ but that doesn't make it any easier to watch your child writhe in agony. I am weary and frustrated right now. To add insult to injury, Ward's blood counts dropped today. Counts usually fluctuate initially but Ward's haven't decreased in several days. I don't think this is a problem but definitely not encouraging. I wish every day would be filled with peace and joy but that's not reality. This is a horrible disease and it will test one's faith. Please stand with us against the enemy. It is quite a challenge to speak faith-based optimism while watching your child roll around in bed in misery. My heart doesn't doubt that the Lord will rescue Ward from this but it is extremely hard to exercise patience. Sorry for the gloomy report but it's the reality. I beg for your prayers. In His Love, Maranda

Another prayer push will began last night at midnight. To signup you can go to

If you can, will you PLEASE pray for them?
Also, to all the other bloggers...
If you would like to share this, we would appreciate it...
The more prayers...
The better...

I was looking at the photos on the caringbridge page and I had tears coming...
They are amazing people and are so strong... In their FAITH and in each other!
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers...

Classic Prayers for Children - Review

If you are looking to get a timeless Christmas gift this year, let me offer a suggestion.
I was honored enough to review the book, "Classic Prayers for Children"

Let me give you a bit of background on this book first...
I think it makes it even more special once you know the story.

The text in this book was published in 1912, originally titled, "Little Folded Hands"
Laurie Latour found a preserved copy of this book that was a gift to her aunt (her Aunt passed away in 1927 at the age of 3) that she re-published to bring this wonderful book to us today.
Talk about a wonderful piece of history. You can read the full story here.

When Laurie had this reprinted, she added a prayer journal to the back of the book.
When your child is too young to write, you can write the sweet prayers of the child in the book for them, once they are older, they can write it themselves.

Classic Prayers for Children is a beautiful, hardbound book that is filled with sweet prayers.
Also included are pieces of artwork to accompany some of the prayers.
Come to find out, it is all original artwork! Yes! The ONLY thing that has been added was the journal! How amazing is that? They were able to get the pictures scanned and cleaned up so that they could be included!

Here are 2 samples of the prayers found in this book:
( I was granted permission to re-print them for this post)

Morning Prayer:
O Blessed Lord, protect Thou me
And my dear parents graciously;
With Thy strong arm be ever near
To brothers and to sisters dear.

And all our loved ones in the land
Protect them with Thine own right hand;
From sin defend and keep me free,
Help me a Christlike child to be. Amen.

Evening Prayers:
Dear Father in Heaven,
Look down from above;
Bless papa and mamma,
And those whom I love.

May angels guard over
My slumbers, and, when
The morning is breaking,
Awake me. Amen.

Think about it, how much better of a gift can you give?
This is a great gift...
For Christmas, Easter, even for a new birth.

I was really impressed with the artistry included in the book.
The prayers are very simple prayers that can be used by us all, not just those new in their faith.

You can purchase the book here.
Where else can you buy such a great and thoughtful gift for less than $10.00?
I, for one, am very glad that Laurie and her husband prayed about this and made the choice to reprint this for other generations to enjoy as those in the past have.

***** I received a free copy of Classic Prayers for Children for review purposes.*****

Car Seat Trouble

Okay, so B has totally outgrown the car seat...
I bought him a new one and tried to put it in on Thursday.
No luck... Tried again Friday, still can not figure it out..
Saturday, by now I am getting VERY ANNOYED!
Still, can not get it...
I have a friend try to help me, we still can not get it..
Then, I said FORGET THIS!
I went to the Fire Department.
We worked and worked.. NO LUCK!
Oh, Eddie Bauer, you are NOT going to get the best of me!
I had my dad come and try to help me...
We looked totally stupid and nope, DID NOT GET IT IN!
Called my Uncle, he came and we worked on it longer...
I am starting to feel like a Seinfeld Episode with the Soup Nazi, YOU GET NOTHING!
I have 2 more "sources" coming Monday...
Please, please let us get this car seat installed!
You know, if M. was here, it would have been taken care of in a few minutes, but I really do not think that B and I can stay at home for another 5 months or so...
***** Side note, I told M. about it, he said.... I really do not think I could get it in that fast if everyone else is having trouble! LoL, I can still think my hubby is Superman! *****
I am tired of being home bound!
(Not that I need to go anywhere, I am just saying!)
Oh yeah, we also tried looking it up online to see if we could find a video....
I think at this rate, ol' Eddie needs to come and install it for me!
