Impressive and Saves Money: @bladebuddy_ #military

I am beyond impressed...
With Marc being military, he shaves... Often.  Pretty much daily.
Although, I will admit, with him being National Guard and only having weekend drill, he doesn't shave EVERY single day...  Just most days!
You know what that means?
That means we go through a TON of razor blades...
He pretty much uses the same brand of razors... I think he has changed 3 times since I have known him...
Always the same though... You have to buy the razor blades and they are NEVER cheap!!!!!  I don't blame him though, shaving his WHOLE head and face, I wouldn't want some cheap thing on me cutting me all to pieces.  So, when I saw that there was a "blade buddy" out there that would cut down on our purchases of razor blades, you KNOW I wanted to try it out!
Lucky for me, I emailed them and we were sent one for review.

What exactly IS a Blade Buddy?
It is a product I think every house that has someone who shaves needs!
It is this little piece of plastic that has this grooved surface on it.
The whole blade buddy is smaller than the length of your hand... and is about as wide as a credit card is tall.
(Are you still with me?)
You just take your razor and your blade buddy...
Add shaving cream to the blade buddy surface..  (to lubricate it)
And then push your razor blade UP the blade buddy 15-20 times.

Marc took it with him to his 2 week annual training...
I was hopeful he would try it out, as he always goes through a couple blades there...
How about he came home... and here we are later ...
He is STILL using the same razor blade!
I was so excited, that right there saved us like $15.

The blade buddy pays for itself over and over again...
Worried about your razor?
It says it is used for ALL razor types.
I actually had Marc use the blade buddy on MY disposable razor and I was seriously impressed!
If you know someone in the military (or anyone that shaves often)
Or, if you or anyone in your family shaves...
I highly recommend purchasing a Blade Buddy!!!!!

Tablet? iPad? Advice Please... Aloha Friday

I know that Aloha Friday is a day to take it easy... and to ask a simple question...

But, this time... I need advice...

Marc and I have been trying for MONTHS now to figure out what tablet is best...
Top it off, tablet or ipad?  There is just so MUCH out there now...

I hear different things about each...

The main drawback on ipads?
No usb and not able to access all sites...

Main drawbacks on tablets?

Not ipads....

My question this week:

What do you recommend?
iPad or tablet?  Why?

Any and all advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Wipe It Clean With Scotch-Brite

I don't know about your house...
But around here, there is no telling what might come in...
As we speak, we have a jar with a dead caterpillar in it...

Marc and Broxton went out on a mission to find one, but it didn't make it through the night...
With all the "goodies" Broxton brings me, you can imagine the wiping of the counters...

I was sent Scotch-Brite Botanical Disinfecting Wipes for review and now it is a breeze wiping as we go!
Between arts and crafts projects (he is really enjoying modeling clay these days) to leaves and what not... I can simply grab a wipe from their canister and then go about our day.

In the past, I would wipe with a disinfecting wipe and then come back and feel the need to rinse to make sure that the chemicals from cleaning were gone...
Now, I just wipe and go.
The Scotch-Brite is made with botanically pure plant extract...  Not to mention it kills up to 99.9% of germs!
I like those numbers!

Did I mention that they come in two scents?
They have Lemongrass and Breeze.
I honestly can not tell you which I like more...
Neither are scents that make you take notice as though a candle is lit or anything... But it is a nice difference from the harsh chemical smells of past products we have used !   I have noticed that according to what I am cleaning for... or what I have been doing... My mood does determine what scent I grab!
I am still a bit in a toss up on the thickness...
I personally like thicker towels, but these have yet to rip.
I guess I feel like I can "scrub" more with thicker towels, but as I said... I have been using one and they stand up to the challenge of our house!  (At least so far!)
The only thing I wish was different?
Maybe if they could find a way to package it to make it able to be left out...
I love the ease of being able to grab and wipe when walking through...
Not having to undo the safety latches on the cabinet and then grab the canister...

Let's Go Out To The Movies

With all the Disney / Pixar movies coming out...
Looks as though Broxton and I will be having a couple "dates" soon....

For the longest time, he was obsessed with the movie, Monsters Inc...
Now that it will be coming out in 3D, I am so excited!

Is anyone else excited?
Do you have "dates" with your little ones to the movies or to lunch?

Need a Great Page Turner for your Kids? Horten's Incredible Illusions

I love to read.  We all know that by now... Well, people that know me, they know it...
I had the chance to review a new "middle school grade" book and I was eager to see how it would be.
You know, it is hard to get kids interested in reading if the book is not interesting, so I was a bit hesitant...
Seems as though all of the books the school suggests seem to be boring, at least to my boys....
I loved English class and all of the books, so I just do not know...

Well, Horten's Incredible Illusions showed up in the mail and I sat down to see what it was about...
I think this book is great!  Not only do I think it is great for middle school aged kids, I personally think it is a great (easy) read for kids of all ages... Also, I believe that this would be a great book for both boys and girls..
Let me try and give you a brief summary....
Stuart Horten is a "new kid in town" and he has just found his late uncle's magic workshop.
(If you read the first one, you would know all the details, but they sort of tell you about it, in case you are a new reader, like I was.)  He and his neighbor (a girl)  have set out to try and figure out the way each of the tricks work.  One, because what kid doesn't want to learn magic? But also because the magic "workshop" is in storage at the town museum and will belong to the town, unless he can provide a will and prove it should go to him...

As each magic trick is discovered, Stuart finds that they are getting a bit more difficult each time..

I found myself eagerly turning the pages trying to figure out how the magic tricks worked and how they would fit into one another...
I personally really enjoyed it and think that if schools would have books such as this on their required lists, the love of reading just might not be lost on all kids!

Shaving Cream Fun - W/W

We have been having shaving cream fun...
Meaning that after arts and crafts (and a bit of a mess with the markers!)  we moved on to playing with shaving cream... He loved "drawing" in it and getting messy...  I loved that it "cleaned" the marker mess!!!!

Picture Perfect Makeup With @Skindinavia

I have a product to tell all you pretties about...
Skindinavia!  It is a Makeup Finishing Spray that celebrities use and you can too!
The Original Makeup Finishing Spray sets and holds makeup in place.  Keeps color vibrant and prevents makeup from fading for up to 16 hours.  Recommended for normal to combination skin types.
Features and Benefits:
Fewer touchups throughout the day
Stops makeup meltdown
Holds eye shadow, foundation, blush and concealer perfectly.
Award winning

They also have a "no more shine" product too!
The description on there says "Leave your blotting papers and powder at home."

I have to be really honest here...
I do not wear makeup.
I wear it from time to time:
As in: weddings, deaths, birthday parties, church with my parents and holidays.
I planned on wearing it when we go to church on Sunday, but I just don't.
I never have been a makeup person.
You either love me or hate me, but makeup isn't going to change that...
My mom on the other hand... does not leave the house without makeup.
She also puts it on KNOWING that she is going to be home all day...
We are night and day in that sense!!!!

I did like reading about the no more shine one!  I remember back when I worked at Diggers (the sports bar) one of my dear friends, Jen, would carry the blotting papers in her apron to touch up her face from time to time... I bet she would have loved this product!!!!
I actually gave it to my mom to let her try it out, as I haven't worn makeup in months...
But I have yet to hear her opinion on it...
I just knew that now that my friends are talking about weddings and what not, I thought it would be great to go ahead and share, versus wait on my mom... They have a bridal spray.. Says there is enough in the bottle for the whole wedding party!  Not to mention it would be great to help with shine during all the 8 million pictures!!!!!

The directions look pretty simple:
Apply your makeup.
Shake the bottle of Skindinavia.
Spray it on your face.

That is it!
You are done!

Are you a makeup person?

Preparation Is Key - Calenders Prevent Chaos!

I am a calender person...  I used to have a million of them..
One would hang up, one was in my purse, one on my desk...
You get the picture...  Then, Broxton came along and so went my calender.
I still have one for blogging, but that is about it!

Now that Broxton has started school, I knew that I needed at least A calender again...
Between his school events, Marc's drill stuff, Marc's work and then with me wanting to join MOPS, I needed one to figure out what and where and when..

I was so excited to have the chance to review one of the removable wall decal calenders from Wall Pops.
It arrived in a nice little roll and I was quick to place it on my wall!  I knew exactly where I wanted it to go.
It might not be the most practical for everyone, but hey... It is my house and how I want it, you know?!
When I am on the phone, I tend to stand in one area... That is now where my calender is... It is on the tiny wall space between our living room and our bedroom!
The calender I chose is actually a one month calender that you just fill in each month with an additional panel that is blank.
That has worked AWESOME for me...

If you look at my calender, I have our calender up top with Broxton's school schedule...
Then, on the bottom, I wrote down an address in case I needed to take my vacuum to get repaired (fixed it on my own, thank you very much!)  Also wrote down show and tell dates and a reminder about Awana each week!
I love the note area, as that has really been a help!  The wall pops also included a dry erase marker that had a peel and stick section to have it all nice and neat and not have one of us running around all crazy trying to find one when we need it (it also has an eraser on it, to wipe off when I need to!)
I have been impressed with this so far...
So, if you are looking for a piece that POPS... or if you need to get a gift for someone you know...
(Or, if you are like me and just really NEED a calender!)
I suggest checking out all that wall pops has to offer!
Also, keep in mind that not all products from WallPops are calenders, that was just what I wanted...
They have beautiful decorative pieces, head over and look now!

I am adding a couple tips that I received from WallPops, this is actually what got me in gear this year!

~ ... Tips for a Happy, Organized Academic Year ~
1.     Reestablish a good bedtime routine.
Ease your children back into a busy schedule by gradually reintroducing a school year bedtime.  It is helpful to start this process a couple of weeks before school begins so that your children are not thrown off balance with a drastic sleeping adjustment on the first day.  The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that children ages 1 to 3 get 12 to 14 hours of sleep, children 3 to 5 years of age, 11 to 13 hours, and children five to 10 years old, 10 to 11.  This information is useful to keep in mind when reestablishing a bedtime routine.  After all, a sufficient night’s sleep will greatly improve your children’s daily activities.
2.     Create a Calendar Central
Life becomes much busier at the end of August or the start of September but that doesn’t mean it necessarily has to become more chaotic.  With extracurricular activities, deadlines, meetings, social gatherings and more, keep the family up-to-date on the swirl of upcoming events by creating a calendar center, a centralized site for all family calendars and schedules.  To ensure everyone is well-informed without overcrowding a calendar, assign each family member his or her own monthly dry erase board.  Ideal for this use, is the new WallPops by Jonathan Adler Bargello Wave Four-Piece Dry Erase Calendar set.  The calendars feature Adler’s signature groovy waves in blue, orange, green and pink with one wave color per calendar so each family member can have his or her own.  For other peppy prints, try the Links Monthly Calendar featuring white-and-green circular tie-knots over a teal background with a navy border along with the Honeycomb, a classic navy-and-white honeycomb pattern with a teal outline.
Make the center complete with dry erase boards to leave extra notes and reminders to all.  Try the coordinating Wave Dry Erase Board in a rainbow of colors with an orange outline.  To add a touch of personalization, surprise the family with the cheerful collection of Zodiac Dry Erase Boards featuring a top, solid color to provide ample room for notes, divided by the astrological sign written in fun fonts and a festive pattern or design on the bottom of the board.
3.     Get ahead.
Never underestimate how much planning ahead can improve each day.  Before the week begins, plan meals for each day even stocking the freezer with prepared entrĂ©es for stress-free nights; layout children’s outfits a week ahead of time to save precious morning minutes as well as any other preparations to get you ahead of the game and ease the week ahead.
Are you a calender person too?
