Help Get Hess Trucks in the National Toy Hall of Fame

Image
This is not a paid or sponsored post.  I have worked with Hess in the past and think that this would be a great thing to share with you all. All thoughts are my own. Did you know that there was a National Toy Hall of Fame? I had NO CLUE until recently... but let me tell you something now - I bet it would be amazing to see what all is in there... I look back at the toys I had as a kid and think they are pretty neat.. the nostalgia of looking at the toys my mom and dad played with is great and I think when Broxton is older, to be able to share with his kids the toys he LOVED as a child is going to be an amazing connection and journey.  I mean, think about it... who doesn't love toys?  Maybe not anymore, but I am pretty sure you did at one point in your life. Let me tell you more about this Hall of Fame ... It was established in 1988.  It is housed at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY. Only 53 toys have ever been inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame. Nominations t

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. When Disney Cars came out, we were all hooked! It was the movie that we could get the big brothers to watch with Broxton and everyone loved it, so when Disney Planes came out, I was so excited!  Broxton loves planes and since it was from the makers of cars, I knew we were in for a treat.  If you are not familiar with Disney Planes - you are missing out... We loved the movie and even have some of their toys now!  Well, I have recently discovered that there is a Disney Planes - Fire and Rescue Movie headed to theaters on July 18th.  We read other Planes Books , so I feel as though I know the story a bit... But, before we head to see the new movie, we can read up and for sure know all about them! Image - Amazon Di

Technology is all around us, but I enjoy a nice hard copy book ALL THE TIME.  I used to take our tablet when we went places, such as the doctor, to keep Broxton entertained... but that started to really bother me... So, I was happy when the Fact or Fib books from Sterling Publishing showed up in the mail. First of all, the size of these are perfect!  They are around 5x7 and perfect to throw in my purse! We have taken them with us to dinner and to doctor appointments... The thing I have noticed? I am having to do things a bit different... In the book, they give you a 3 statements -  then you turn the page and it tells you which 2 are facts and which one is a fib... Broxton was not really understanding what I meant w

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. As a kid, I have memories of going fishing with my grandparents...  and it always puts a smile on my face... Now, I would not think of getting near anything that has to do with fishing... but I do want Broxton to be able to make memories like that... Unfortunately, he won't be making those types of memories with his grandparents... but - no fear... He will be able to make them with his daddy! Marc has been talking about going fishing for quite some time now, but I always had something to say about it... I thought fishing equipment would be really expensive and I could not justify buying poles and what not for a one time thing!  Luckily for us, I was sent the Duck Dynasty Rod and Reel Combos for review... the first

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Third post on the awesome series of books we were sent from Sterling Publishing... It is their "Good Question" series and I think it is a great one that I already had to brag about to a friend of mine.  The books are recommended for different ages, with the books I am reviewing today being recommended for ages 6 and up.  Look, our kids don't get younger... so these will be great for him, even if it is recommended for older ages right now...  BUT - we are getting into the whole solar system thing already, so it is still great to have on hand for him to learn now! Questions in these books range from " What holds our solar system together?"  to "Which planet has a cloud named Scooter?"

I introduced you to a few books from Sterling Publishing Good Questions series yesterday and today we get to explore a few more!  I really love how each book is full of all types of information and is sure to have people of all ages learning something they might not have known before. In the books I am reviewing today, we learn more from their science / nature line.   A couple of the questions throughout the books: "Why do some caterpillars have spiky hairs on their bodies?" and  "How is a butterfly different from a moth" or "Why can't you tickle yourself" and "How does breathing help you smell?"  or even "Why are the stems of trees covered with bark" and "W

Trying to figure out Fathers Day gifts is one of the hardest things to have to do!  At least in our house, if daddy needs or wants something, he doesn't have the patience to wait for it... and it is so rare that he needs or wants anything, that it is normally bought right then.  So by the time Fathers Day is here... Gift ideas have gone out the window!   UNTIL THIS YEAR!!!!   Remember that Marc is from Louisiana  - when Swamp People first came out, he had to watch it whenever it was on... even if it was a repeat... His work schedule has him gone so much now, so at least I can "bring the swamp" to him!  If you have not heard yet - - - Swamp People now has a "sauce" line now that is sure to

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?  Do you remember what all you were taught in school?  I know I don't remember that much ... I know that is sad to say, I know the basic things for survival and common sense, but as far as the other facts that we were taught, I have a hard time remembering any of that! I get paranoid when I think about Broxton starting school ... Will it come back to me, or will I be up late night reading through his books to know what to prepare for the next lesson?   PLEASE - TELL ME Moms and Dads... HOW DID YOU DO IT?    Luckily for Broxton, Marc loves History and all of that good stuff - so he is set when it comes to that subject.  To be honest, the older I get, the more I see that I am e
