Holidays = Healthy

With the holidays...
People tend to let their health slip away...
You know, eating more than normal...
Eating more sweets than normal...

If you want to eat more sweets...
and not worry as much...

I was sent a Xocai Nugget.
I liked it, Marc says it tasted "healthy."
:)
I was surprised to like it, since it was dark chocolate...
but I did!
Hmmmmmmm.
Maybe dark chocolate is finally growing on me?

From their website:
Xocai Nuggets:

Xoçai™ Nuggets are extremely high in cocoa content, combining the exotic flavors of dark chocolate with açai berry and blueberry. Each 12-gram Xoçai™ Nugget is made with rich, dark, Belgian Chocolate and has an ORAC Value (or antioxidant content) of 3,120. The USDA recommends at least 3,000-5,000 per day.

Ingredients: Dark Chocolate [Unsweetened Chocolate, Raw Cane Juice Crystals, Cocoa, Lecithin (emulsifier)] Açaí Powder, Blueberry Powder.

Head on over to their site to see what all good for you chocolate they have!
Oh and get this...
They have 8 different varieties!!!
Also, 3 servings of their chocolate equals 10 to 12 servings of raw fruits and vegetables.

W/ W - Mommy's Helper

The other day, I was finishing up wrapping a couple of the last presents...
Then I heard the sound of tape being pulled...
I came around the corner to see that Broxton did not think I had taped the present well enough.
He had to add more!
Of course, it was cute...
So, I had to snap a few pictures!

( Please over look the mis-matched pajama's.
This was when we were all sick and I just did not feel like changing WHOLE outfits every time... Just what needed to be changed!)

A Real Pay It Forward

As some of you know...
Marc was deployed last year...
So, he missed Broxton's first Christmas.
Thankfully, he is home now...
So we really want this Christmas to be extra special.

My parents and brother are coming up Christmas Day and will be here for the weekend.
Although I do not cook, we have to eat something...
:)
So today...
We loaded up and headed to buy our Christmas meal.
(I figured go ahead and go now, as to avoid the last minute rush.)

We went and bought everything we needed to feed all of us (and boy do we eat!)
We planned on food for Christmas Day and then HOPEFULLY we will have plenty of leftovers for dinner and lunch the next day.

We were in the checkout line...
Waiting on Marc, he wanted to go grab cranberry sauce.
There was a lady behind us that had 5 items.
I told her to go ahead and go first, we would be awhile.
She said we were fine.
I told her really, it was okay... We were still waiting on my husband.
She then remembered she needed tape.

Marc came, we finished unloading and then Marc called me back to where he was standing.
This sweet lady wanted to pay for our groceries.
Marc is a man of VERY FEW WORDS... So, he called me back.
I listened to her... and started to cry.

She said that although she was not rich, she wanted to pay for our groceries.
She felt that was her gift to us this Christmas.
I was crying so hard...
I mean, what do you say?
I told her that although I really appreciated it...
Our total was going to be rather high and I just did not feel right.

She again, stated that she waited behind us because she really wanted to pay for our meal.
It was her gift for us, for her to pay for our Christmas lunch.

Was God watching over us today?
Yes... He always is...
It is just amazing...
That a random stranger felt the call...
and answered.

I continued to cry... it was just so moving.
Other customers stood around looking, trying to figure out what was going on...

We loaded up our cart and each of the boys gave her a huge hug and said Thanks...
Broxton gave her a bear hug.
Marc hugged her...

Of course, I explained that Marc was deployed last year and we were really trying to have the best Christmas ever, you know...
To make up for him being gone last year.
She said that she was so glad that she could help.

For us to focus on Christmas with our family and to not have to worry about the food.
Wow.
What do you say?
How do you ever say Thank You for that?

Yes, I asked for her address to send a thank you note...
She said that she did not want one, she just wanted to share in the joy of Christmas and she wanted to do this...
I BEGGED for her address, I had to have it to say Thanks.

She then gave me her card.
She is an Elementary School Principal.

So, Mrs. Faulkner...
We THANK YOU.
From the bottom of our hearts.
We Thank You.

Words can never express how much that meant.

Oh, and she is from Alpharetta.
Why would she be here?
She was 30-45 minutes from home.

God is always watching over us.

Now, we are going to pay it forward.
Not sure when or how...
But we will.
Being on the receiving end of something so wonderful, you will never really and truly know how it feels...

Picking out our tree

***** ALL PICTURES ON Jumpin Beans ARE THE PROPERTY OF NOELLE DAVIS.
(Unless otherwise stated so)
PLEASE DO NOT USE WITHOUT PERMISSION. *****

So, I have always had an artificial tree...
Until...
I met Marc.
Then, we have always had a real tree!
We normally just get one at Home Depot, but this year...
We went to a tree farm and actually did the whole picking and cutting one!

It was not as fun as I thought it would be...
Maybe I was looking for cold and snow and hot chocolate?
I don't know..
but we looked and looked...
did I tell you that we looked?

We finally found one!
I told Marc we should just get a little one for Broxton.
That would have been funny to see my moms face...
Her thinking we got a big one and it being a little one.
(Although, that might have been the smart thing.)
Anyways, we know how fun it is to see pictures...
Here is our trip.

Enjoy!
Dad and Broxton looking for the "perfect tree."
Found it!!!! Time to cut it down!
Broxton needs to help daddy cut it just right!
Isn't he such a great helper?!
Time to load it up!

What a great day!

Buddy Tops - Too cute!!! Review

Do you have a BuddyTop?
We do!
Broxton has the cutest little Dalmatian BuddyTop and I am so glad that I get to tell you all about it!

Not only is BuddyTop a hat...
it is also an adorable "buddy!"
Your little one is sure to look even more precious wearing this.
(Did you think that was even possible?!)

Marc loves putting hats on Broxton, so this was fun for all of us!
(Broxton likes it... I just know he does!)
Want to see how cute he is in his BuddyTop?!
(Sorry, they are not the best pics... We were busy and I snapped them without looking to see how they turned out!)

I don't think that wearing a puppy dog buddy top is the best way to get a cat to come play with you though... LOL, but he tried!
These buddytops come in several different styles...
You can choose from the Dalmatian one that Broxton has, or from the other 5 animals that they offer in the winter hat series.
They also offer a Spring/Fall line that makes 3 cute hats, they just are not as thick as the winter ones. Buddytops come in small, medium or large. I got the small for Broxton, but I think I should have gone with the medium one. (He has a big head like his mom... )
That is totally my fault though, they have a sizing guide on there, I just chose to guess, oops!

Keep up to date with all that buddytops have to offer...
You can follow them on twitter as well as facebook.

I was TAGGED!!!!!

Well, I have been holiday tagged!!!!
So, let me go ahead and answer my questions....
and decide who my lucky ones to be tagged are! :)
Love ya Lorie!

1. When do you usually know and feel that it's finally the holidays? When it gets close to Thanksgiving... Family starts planning get together's, places start decorating... and Christmas music starts playing!

2. What do you want for Christmas this year? I would LOVE an IPAD, but Santa is busy with all the young kids now...

3. Do you go all out with decorations? As soon as we get a house... YES! Until then, we just have a tree.

4. What are you doing Christmas Eve? We will be opening gifts and spending time with each other. I think it will be so fun this year, as Marc is home... and we can watch the excitement with Broxton!

5. What are you doing Christmas Day? My parents and my brother are coming up here to spend the weekend with us. We will be opening gifts, eating and spending time with each other.

6. It's Christmas time. What are you reading? Right now, several of the Chicken Soup books :) Reviews/Giveaway to be held soon!!

7. Favorite movie to watch during the holidays? Never really had one... Will be watching all of them now that I don't have to work all the time and we want to start movie traditions!

8. Favorite Christmas song? I love them all... For some reason, I am loving the Baby Its Cold Outside... Maybe I just really want it to be cold? But for real... I love all the Christmas songs, from Hymns to the frosty the snowmans!

9. Favorite holiday drink? Never had a "holiday drink" hot chocolate from time to time, but that is about it... Don't think I have ever even had egg nog or cider... That makes me sad! lol

10. How is your Christmas shopping going? I am DONE. DONE. DONE

11. If you could spend Christmas Day anywhere else, where would you spend it? As long as I have my family, it really does not matter!

12. Any holiday traditions? My mom and I have "the bag" It is a really pretty silver gift bag that I gave her one year... I told her I wanted it back, so the next year, she gave me a gift in it... Since then, we rotate who gets it each year... It has a sentimental gift in it as well.... It is my turn to get the gift, so lets see what I get this year!

13. Favorite thing about the holidays? FAMILY. Spending time with Family.

Now I am supposed to tag three bloggers to participate and answer these questions. here are the three wonderful people I have chosen: ( I chose 4)

Aloha Friday - #65

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

My question this week:
What is the weather like where you are?

My answer:
It was cold as anything the other night...
Record low of 14 degrees.
The news said there were over 1,000 wrecks!
To the point where they told people if the car was not in the way, leave it and call the tow company the next day!
What?!
Well, now the roads have thawed and it is in the high 40's.

Have a great weekend!

WWE Tribute to the Troops

Just got this in an email....
Wanted to share.
Please watch...

Samantha : An American Girl Holiday DVD

Yes, this is a house full of boys...
But I have heard of the American Girl Dolls.
What I did not know was a few other things...

One, these are not just dolls...
They all have a story.
Which leads to part two...
There are also books!

The best part?
I was able to learn about Samantha.
No, I did not read a book or get a doll...
They just released a DVD on her.

I have to tell you...
It was really good!
Shhhhhhh...
I even got a bit teary eyed!
Yes, I sure did!!!!

Samantha : An American Girl Holiday is the story about Samantha.
A sweet young girl that lives with her grandmother, Grandmary.
Both of Samantha's parents have passed and although she loves her Grandmary, all she really wants is a friend her own age. Imagine, it would get a bit lonely...
A man and his three daughters move in next door as the new servants and although there is a difference in the "class levels," it does not bother Samantha.

I really loved how this movie shows what is important to children.
Samantha quickly becomes friends with Nellie, the young girl that works next door.
Although society would say that due to the economical difference between the two they should not be friends...
That does not stop the two of them!

This movie shows the struggles of families during that time period...
(It takes place in 1904)
But it also shows that love really knows no boundaries!

Special Features on the DVD include:

Ø An all-new special feature: Votes For Women: An American Girl:Samantha.

Samantha: An American Girl Holiday joins descendants of the real American Suffragists in a discussion about getting votes for women and the journey for equal rights.

Ø Mount Bedford News: A Victorian Wedding. A featurette including footage from the wedding scene in the movie.

I think that this is a great movie to watch with your family...
(If you can get boys to watch an "American Girl" movie!)

This would be great for all the American Girl fans you know!!!!

I AM SICK

Oh my goodness!
Broxton woke me up at 5 this morning...
SICK.
Got him cleaned up...
Sick.
Cleaned him up again...
FINALLY got him back to sleep.
( A little after 7)
THEN- I-GOT-SICK.
About every 30 or 45 minutes.
I called my cousin and she says it sounds like we have a stomach virus.

Please, keep me in your thoughts today...
This is miserable.
Also, lets hope Marc doesn't catch it...

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hope your week is starting better than mine.

Life Lists for Teens - Book Review

I sure wish something like this would have been around when I was growing up!
Too bad I did not know about Free Spirit Publishing back in my days!

I was able to review Life Lists for Teens and I really think that this is great for ALL teens.
So many pieces of advice!

This book has 244 pages full of all types of information.

If you open to look at the Table of Contents, you can see a break down of the different topics.
Health and Wellness
Getting Along
Staying Safe
School and Learning
Going Online
Planning Ahead
Saving the World
Focus on You
Just for Fun

The title for the book is perfect, as it even LISTS ways that lists can help you.
Besides that, it LISTS ways that you can use this book.
Finally, it LISTS things to keep in mind when reading this book!

I absolutely LOVE how the book starts off by listing the 12 serious reasons to laugh!
I mean, laughter is wonderful and this book helps explain it!
the 12th reason...
LAUGHTER IS FREE!

Another section I like?
Maria Rodale's 5 things that really matter:
Love
Family
Faith
Integrity
Moments

It even helps deal with a wide range if issues.
Stress?
Smoking?
Diet?
Acne?

This book deals with family, friends and relationships.

I really like that is lists what other teens want you to know about teen pregnancy.
As well as, things to ask yourself before you run away.

Instead of "its this way" because I said so...
It is more of "here are a few options to consider.

Although this book says it is for Teens.
I am keeping it at the house.
That way, the boys can read it...
But, I can also have it handy for any situations that may come my way...
You know, advice to give one of my friends that has teens...
Or for us.

Thanks Free Spirit Publishing for yet ANOTHER great book!
Order one for your house...
Or to donate to a library...
Or even to give to a teenager you know!!!!

100 Things Guys Need to Know - Book Review

If you have a house full of boys like I do, this is a great book to have.
It seems as though books of the "self help" kind are always for or about girls...
I guess people think that guys don't need advice?
Not really sure about that...

But, Free Spirit Publishing has you covered.
I reviewed 100 Things Guys Need To Know and I think it is a great book.
Guys need to know that there are resources available...
and that there are people there to help them.
Even if it is just someone to listen.

I like this book for several reasons.
First of all, the size of it.
It is taller than most books, it is more like a notebook size.
Actually, they could stack it with their notebooks and it would fit perfect!

Another thing I like is that it has different blocks of information.
Kind of breaks it down more for easier reading.
Also, there are illustrations throughout the entire book.
Besides the random illustrations, they also have 2 page spreads of GUY COMIX every so often.

Yes, there are 100 things guys need to know in here...
But it is also broken down into sections.

You have :
You
Body & Mind
Family
School
Relationships
Future

It says that this book is for
Reading Level - Grade 6 and up
Interest Level - Ages 9 - 13

I think that this would be perfect to have for guys groups and for any boys in your life!
They do not have to read it all at once, but it will always be easily accessible!

Wholly Guacamole - Tastes So Good

So, I have seen Wholly Guacamole on several blogs...
Man, I did not know what I was missing!

I was recently fortunate enough to be able to try several food items from their line...
YUMMMMMMMMM- YYYY

Let me first say that I thought they only specialized in guacamole...
WRONG.
Also, let me tell you about a little secret.
I just tried guacamole for the first time a couple months ago.
I just thought it looked nasty, so I was NOT about to try it.
My mistake!

This is some good stuff!

Wholly Guacamole sent me a nice variety to try...
First was their Salsa.
Delicious.
It was nice!
Full of flavor.
Not all runny, but not so chunky either!
Just right!
They also have a Garden Fresca Salsa that has been calling my name!
Will have to try that one really soon!
Then, it was time for their queso.
Marc and I love (Okay, Broxton REALLY loves it) queso dip.
We always get it at the local Mexican Place...
Now, we do not have to go out to eat to enjoy, we can pick some up at the store and have it here whenever we want it!
Last was their guacamole.
They sent us the classic and the spicy.
( I am saving the spicy for when the boys get here... I don't do spicy!)
But the classic was really good.
Just wish I would have thought about using it for sandwiches!
I read that you can use it in place of mayo on your sandwich and to me, that sounds like a great change!
I want to try the Pico De Gallo Style Guacamole on a sandwich!
(Doesn't that sound so good?!)

Now, I do not know if we will have Mexican night when the boys are here (Marc isn't really that big of a Mexican fan... )
But, I do know that we will have Queso/Salsa/Guacamole at some point!
It is too good not to let the boys have a taste!

Flipped - DVD Review

If you are looking for a family movie for you all to watch...
Let me tell you about the movie, Flipped.

This movie was directed by Rob Reiner, he also directed The Bucket List and Stand By Me...
Flipped is the story of tow kids who basically grow up together, but really do not even know one another.
Bryce and his family move to the neighborhood when he is just in second grade...
The day they move in, he meets Juli, the girl that lives across the street.
Julie KNOWS it is love, right then and there... but Bryce tries hard to make sure it isn't.
(Typical boy!)

Through the years, they grow up and the movie follows them through junior high.
Juli is a very smart and independent young lady who lets nothing change who she is, yet Bryce falls victim to peer pressure, even if it is at the expense of hurting Juli's feelings.

Marc liked the music that was played throughout the movie.
The movie was portrayed to have taken place in the 1960's.
(Yes, he likes the older music!)

The one thing that Marc did not like was how the movie was from 2 standpoints...
You would see the movie and then it would replay pieces with Juli narrating her view of it all... As well as parts with Bryce and his stand point.
Marc thought it would have been better not to have gone back and forth like that...

It really did not bother me like some movies do.
I guess I really did not even notice it until he brought it up.
I liked how it brought each of their opinions into the same situation...
Kind of explaining how every side has two stories.

This was a sweet movie that I think would be great for people of all ages.
You do not have to worry about it showing images or having language that younger kids do not need to see.

Now, I did not like how Bryce's dad was... but that was a bit to be expected, he was just very unhappy in his life.
Juli's family was FULL of love and compassion and I loved that!
Just goes to show how different people can be and how you might not really even know one another!

I liked it and to be honest, I would like to see another like this!

Aloha Friday - #64

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

My question:

Do you have a pet? If so, what is it?

My answer:

No, we do not have a pet... Yet.
I would like for us to get a dog ONCE WE GET A HOUSE.
NOT UNTIL WE GET A HOUSE.

Have a great weekend!

Stealing any Picnic Baskets? Yogi Bear DVD

As long as I can remember, my dad would always say " Yogi Bear and Boo Boo" for whatever reasons! He would always talk about them stealing the picnic baskets...
Then, we started watching the Yogi Bear TV show.

I was SO EXCITED when I saw that Yogi Bear was on one of the kids channels that Broxton watches, so I just HAD to turn it on. I told him all about me watching it with Papa... and I hope that they can watch it together at some point.

That leads me to this post...
I am super excited to be able to tell you that Warner Bros is releasing Yogi Bear's All-Star Comedy Christmas Capers on DVD.
This is one cartoon that I KNOW my dad will watch with Broxton!
I am excited to see it as well.
I remember Yogi Bear and Boo Boo going through Jellystone Park stealing all the yummy picnic baskets from all the visitors. The Park Ranger would always get so mad! :)
In this DVD, Yogi sneaks OUT of Jellystone Park and goes in disguise as a store Santa!
Doesn't this just sound so cute already?
It says that along the way, Yogi helps a little girl discover her faith in Christmas, so I really want to see what this DVD is all about.

As a side note, did you know that Yogi was introduced to us in 1958 on "The Huckleberry Hound" Show? Well, I wasn't around then... but I did not know that bit of trivia either. Yogi was so popular (imagine!) that he got his own show in 1960. There were 70 cartoons produced through 1962........ How crazy is that? I get to share Yogi Bear and Boo Boo with Broxton!

Now, don't you want to share it with your young ones?
This would also make a great gift for people that were kids back then too...
A piece of nostalgia!!!!

I will be receiving a copy of this DVD for sharing this information with you.

I LOVE Charlie Brown and Snoopy! - Review

I have been trying to figure out what movie tradition to start with Broxton for Christmas.
My mom and I were at Target and we had to stop and look at the holiday movies.
I mentioned to her my wish for a tradition of watching a movie every year...

Then, I saw the Charlie Brown collection.

Yes! This was what I thought I might get...
I mean, with this collection, I have all the holidays!!!

This Blu-Ray + DVD pack includes them all!
Blu-Ray also includes bonus episodes!!!!!

Here is the synopsis for each of the Blu-Ray +DVD:

It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
This Emmy® Award-nominated special, finds the Peanuts gang outfitted in costumes, ready for trick or treating and crashing Violet’s Halloween party. Charlie Brown is in a ghost costume (with more eyeholes cut out than needed), Lucy dressed as a witch and Snoopy in a World War I flying ace costume. Linus decides to steadfastly hold vigil in the pumpkin patch as he awaits the Great Pumpkin.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving – In this Emmy® Award-winning special, Peppermint Patty invites herself to Charlie Brown’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Marcie and Franklin are soon added as dinner guests. Charlie Brown admits that his culinary skills are limited to “cold cereal and maybe toast.” Snoopy and Woodstock transform the ping-pong table in the backyard into a dinner table. As the guests arrive, they are each served two slices of buttered toast, some pretzel sticks, popcorn and jelly beans. Patty is outraged at the meal and berates Charlie Brown until embarrassed and dejected, he leaves the table and goes back into the house

A Charlie Brown Christmas.
In this Emmy® and Peabody Award winning classic, Charlie Brown is upset by how commercial the Christmas holiday has become. To coax him out of his holiday blues, Lucy suggests he direct the school’s Christmas pageant and decorate a glorious tree. Charlie Brown concedes. The tree he finds however, is puny, prompting everyone to ridicule him.

ALL IN ONE SET.

I really think that this will be one that every house needs to add to their collections!
(Hey, you could even get one for Grandma and Grandpa to keep at their place as well!)

Now, I have always watched The Great Pumpkin...
So that was already in the plans to watch with Broxton...

Marc swears that I have seen the Thanksgiving one...
Well, I had not seen it...
(That I remembered anyways... )
It was great!

Now, we will be watching the Christmas one soon!
(I feel that we need to get our tree up first!)
Soon, very soon!!!!
Once we get our tree up and watch the Charlie Brown Christmas...
We will also watch Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales.

This DVD is filled with 5 Christmas Moments that are sure to stay in your heart.
Snoopy as a bell ringer?
Lucy TRYING to be nice?
Linus working on writing his Santa letter?
Sally works on getting a Christmas tree...
and Charlie Brown and Sally wait up for Santa!

I am really ready to watch it soon...
There is a BONUS feature with:
Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?

I think all kids (young or old!) will love to see this under the tree this holiday season!
I know I am excited that we have it... and Charlie Brown has been so long even the "older kids" like mom and dad would love this to pass along their traditions!!!
