Heart of the Country

This is not a paid or sponsored post... I just enjoyed Jana Kramer on One Tree Hill and thought it would be nice to share for any of her fans...  (She is also a country music singer now!)
Based on the novel by Rene Gutteridge and John Ward, Heart of the Country is a love story starring country music singer Jana Kramer (“One Tree Hill”), Randy Wayne (“True Blood”), and Gerald McRaney (“Major Dad”). Faith (Kramer) and Luke (Wayne) have it all. Faith is a beautiful singer and Luke is an up-and- coming businessman. When their life together is shattered and she is forced to return home to the family she turned her back on years ago she must find the strength to love again. Watch Jana Kramer in her first leading movie role in the year's most inspirational and romantic movie event when it debuts on DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on August 20

Rising star Jana Kramer is one to watch on and off the big screen. Selling an impressive 1.5 million tracks off her self-titled debut album, including her current single “I Hope It Rains” along with her debut hit single, “Why Ya Wanna,” Kramer was named Academy of Country Music’s New Female Vocalist of the Year for 2013. Performing in 30 cities, Kramer just kicked off an America-wide tour opening for Grammy-nominated platinum-selling superstar Blake Shelton’s Ten Times Crazier tour this summer. While all dates can be found on her website, a highlight of the tour includes the following cities:

 Cincinnati, OH - July 28
 Chicago, IL - August 3
 Raleigh, NC - August 9
 Atlanta, GA - August 29
West Palm Beach, FL - August 31
 Hartford, CT - September 6
 Nashville, TN - September 14
Kansas City, MO - October 3

The Heart of the Country DVD features an exclusive first look at the music video from the movie for “The First and Last Time” sung by Kramer.

We were sent a new book to check out...

This is the first book and we get to know the main characters that we will be reading about in other books...   In Meet the Dooples, we meet Mr. Dooba Dee Doo.  He is a wise old thing that helps bring the dooples to life...

There just seem to be a couple rules...
Have fun exploring, learning and meeting new places and things...

BUT, they can only come out at night and have to be put back at the end of the day!!!

The characters are too cute...

We have Inky, Racer, Marky and others...
Each one leaves their own creativity behind from the pencil sketches that Sketchy leaves to the marks on the box left from Marky...
This book is colorfully illustrated and I love that the font is in a white box with basic font for young kids to read.

Meet the Dooples lets you use your imagination and creativity...

and I tell you, I am ready to read the next to see what new adventure they get to head on!

( I was able to use this book to tell Broxton that this book shows us how pens, pencils, crayons and markers are learning their creativity at night to be able to help him learn to write and draw!!!)

This would be a great book to buy for your personal library... or to donate to your kids class!
If you want to order one, just visit her site and order through the contact us form.

Mess-free fun hits the road with Crayola Wonder Mini Stow and Go!

I will tell you this...
We have not played with anything except the sidewalk chalk so far...
I thought I would put the glitter paper up since it was princess themed... but he has said he wants to color with it to see the glitter... That is a project for this weekend (possibly!)  The Mini Stow and Go is waiting for our next road trip..  but the sidewalk chalk?!  Oh the endless fun!!!!
Broxton has loved sidewalk chalk for what seems like forever...
I was really impressed with this set.
Why?  It had SO MANY colors to choose from!!!
It even had BROWN and BLACK!!!!
We have used the chalk to play (coloring and hopscotch)  but also for learning...
We played working on remembering his numbers....   and letters.

The most fun for me?
When Broxton had me draw an ARMY airport for him...   He played for hours there...
Don't you want to have fun like this?

Cool Down with Chilly Pads from @froggtoggs @AmericasMartATL

As I mentioned, I had a great time at the AmericasMart Market ...
I learned about so many products and I am so glad to get to share some of my findings with you!!!

One that I learned of?
The Chilly Pad.

I will tell you now, I have seen this in different stores and I have thought about buying it.. But something kept telling me not to ...
Then, my mom had a wise idea about a product she wanted to help her stay cool when she sleeps... so, I bought it for her as a mothers day gift and nope... It did not work...  So, I was not about to strike out again with another cooling product that was just a joke...
(This is now 2 products for my mom that didn't work... Was this going to be number 3? )

Luckily for me, I was able to get a Chilly Pad for review!

Well, actually Marc is using it and I will be purchasing a new one for myself!!!

The chilly pad is basically this really cool towel... but not a towel at all..

When I first opened it, I thought they had packaged it wet, as it felt that way..but then I noticed that it was not wet at all...  Hmmm... on to something already.
With the Chilly Pad, you just pour water onto it and then that is what cools you...

How does it work?  I don't know "how" but I can tell you how to use it...

It's very simple...
Just pour water onto the chilly pad... wring out the water... then put it on your head or whatever is hot and it basically sucks the heat out of you...

I honestly don't know how it works... but it did the job!!!
I tried it first one day (I get hot easily and when I am hot, I stay hot!!)
It was "hotter than a sinner on Sunday" in just a few minutes...
I rinsed it in water, got the water out and applied again...
This joker was taking the heat out of me and it was awesome!

Marc totally being silly (I have noticed he makes these goofy faces many times in "review" photos... Not sure what that is about!)    I asked Marc to try it when he went running... He was scared to run with it... as he didn't want to lose it, but he said he used it as soon as he finished and plans to take it running with him each time now!  How awesome? He just used some of the water from a bottle of water in the car!

Back when I used to work in the sports bar, we had NO AIR CONDITIONING... It was miserable... (Long story for another day)  but I tell you what.. we used to take the linen napkins and run them under water... then place them in the freezer and wait till they froze to place on our necks... This would have been faster, easier and looked so much better!!!

If you are one that gets hot easily..
Or if you are into sports, I say check out Chilly Pad...
They have so much more than just this pad... (You can even cut this to different sizes if need be!)
Take a look and you too will be impressed!

Finally!  A cooling product that works for us!!!!

I kept hearing about "AmericasMart" and you know me...
I had to look into it and see what I could find out..
In my own thoughts and opinions:

I hope that you come back each day this week to see what I am sharing with you!
I had a blast...
It was so much to take in.. but worth it!!!

Cold Feet? Try Heat Holders

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Oh My Goodness...   Do I have a product to tell you about...

Let me set it up first...
Marc has FREEZING cold feet at night...
BUT - he refuses to wear socks...   I don't know... he says they make his feet colder...    I don't get it... but it is his feet, so I just go with it...
Besides that, remember he works for the railroad... and is also National Guard.. meaning that he faces lots of different temperatures in his line of work...

Well, I was sent an email about Heat Holders and I wanted to try it out...

They arrived and I was a bit skeptical...
They were like socks... but thick...   and the insides were super soft...
They might be thick... but would they be comfortable and work?

I wore them first... and was in love with them...
Imagine a sea of cotton... and you shove your feet into it...
It was AMAZING...  but would they work?
I went to bed to see...
What I did notice was that my feet were toasty all night (but not in an uncomfortable way) ... more than that though... at some point during the night , one came off...  Still not sure about that... but I know I move a lot during my sleep, so I figured that was it...

Next up, I wanted my brother to try them out...
Last year for Christmas all he told me that he wanted was wool socks... so yeah, he ended up with TONS of socks for Christmas... If he would try the Heat Holders, I would look at getting them for him...
I noticed that as he goes to bed each night, he puts on a pair of socks,so I was able to throw these his way and ask for his opinion...
He woke up in the morning talking about how they did indeed keep his feet warm, but he had one issue he could not figure out... why did one come off during the night?
Ha ha ha... I could not tell him, but it made me laugh, as I had the same problem!!

Final test... was I going to be able to get Marc to try and sleep in them?
Mr. " socks make my feet FREEZE at night" actually said yes, so I was excited!
He woke up in the morning with warm feet and was very impressed with them...
(I do have to tell you, he too lost one during the night!  We still were unsure about that... I was thinking that they are so soft on the inside maybe they just slide off?  I don't know...)

Well, how about every time I turn around, Marc is asking to wear them to bed...   He loves them.. and it makes me happy that he doesn't have freezing feet any more...  We do need to get a few more pair, as I hate only having one (we do laundry rather often, can you tell?)

Even though it is summer, he still wears them...  I can only imagine how much he will love having them when it is cold and he can wear them to work!!!

If you are one that has cold feet or if you live where it gets pretty cold..
I say to go ahead and take a look at the Heat Holder Products.. they have socks for men, women and children...  They also have slipper socks if you are worried about slipping in them!
We have enjoyed them.. not only for the warmth that they do give to your feet, but also for the comfort as they are super soft!!!!

I will admit it... I totally judge books by their cover...
I hate that about me, but it is true...
I thought it was adorable and a great book for a little girl...
(Told you, judging the cover..)

So, then I read it...
It was ADORABLE!!!!
Talk about loving a book!!!
I finished reading it and Broxton finally decided to stroll over to see what I was doing and he quickly asked me what was going on in the book.
I told him I would read it to him later, but it was a great book about a little Princess that did not do such a great job of cleaning up behind her...   and in the process, she lost her things.. but they were never LOST... they were just where she had left them and she did not remember where it was, since it was not in the place that it was supposed to be...
That is a common theme around here...
Except that this mama is a bit OCD... so even when he does "clean up" his toys, I go behind him and sort into the correct bins that things belong in!!!!

I loved this book and although it was about a Princess, I thought it was a great book for kids of both genders! Another great thing?  Well, two great things...
One.. this Princess played in the dirt looking at bugs and what not...
and Two... it was an African American family..
The author actually wrote this book because of the limited amount of books available with African American characters!!!

Love it...   and I bet our house (as well as Cupcake Jones')  isn't the only one that has things "lost" because certain people don't put them back where they go!!!!

Nuts About @SincerelyNuts

Food connoisseur I am not...
I know that and will admit it... but I do know when I have good food and that is what I want to tell you about today...
A while back, I learned of a new (to me) company...
Sincerely Nuts...

Sincerely Nuts is all about nuts..  sort of like the Bubba Gump of nuts, if you will...
But they are so much more than that!
Nuts... Seeds...  Dried Fruit... Chocolate...
See what I mean?

We were given the chance to review their pistachios...
I am not sure what it is...
I used to think that pistachios were nasty... (I had never even tried them at this point.)
Then,I tried one and fell in love...
Have you ever eaten one just to discover it was all nasty?  Yeah... not fun at all...
But, every single one in the bag that we were sent from Sincerely Nuts was awesome...
The reason I can say every one is because I ate them all...   and shared with Broxton and Marc... and not one single complaint was made!!!
I loved it because Broxton ate them and loved them...
You can get them salted, not salted, garlic or other flavors....
I also noticed you can order just the "meat"  if you want to use them for cooking (or salads) and just do not want the hassle of the shells... I thought about getting them... but then I knew that I loved having the shells as it makes you enjoy each one a bit longer....
Call me crazy, I know!!!!
If you are looking for a healthier snacking alternative...Google pistachios...
but then order from Sincerely Nuts...
Let me know if you try something else they offer!!!!

I am not sure if I told you or not, but Broxton is taking Karate classes...
He loves it and although he is the "baby" of the group, he tries to handle his own...

The last time he had class, one of the "older kids"  (age 6)  made a comment about being 6 and having a phone to play on... he responded that he had a tablet....
Why am I telling you this?  Because this week, he felt that he needed to bring something "cool" in to show his classmates!
You know what he took?
Time for Kids - Dinosaurs 3D  - One of the latest books he has been reviewing!!!

He was so excited!
When the book first arrived, the two of us looked at it...

Then, he had Marc look at it with him...

I wish I had been able to catch the expression of the kids as he showed them the book!
He brought the book to the mat and pulled out the 3D glasses...  The kids were immediately surprised by that!  Then, as they put them on, he turned the pages showing them the pictures!  They were smiling... They were "oohing" and "ahhing" it was awesome!!!

Dinosaurs 3D is a new book from Time for Kids...

You open the book to find two pair of glasses... One for you, one for a friend!!!!
(They are the paper glasses,so you can easily put them over your every day glasses if you wear those.)
You are even greeted with a 3D dino on the contents page!
Contents Include:
Meet the Dinosaurs
Dinosaur Times
Meat- Eaters
Long-Necked Plant - Eaters
Armored, Plated and Horned
Two - Footed Plant- Eaters
Digging Up the Past

Each page has an amazing 3D photo for you to enjoy.
(I personally loved watching Broxton try to reach out and grab them... It was too funny!)

They also include a great deal of information.
It says that this book is for ages 8+.
I know Broxton can not read yet and this might be a bit over his head... but I tell you, at 4 years old, he absolutely LOVED looking at all the pictures!

From their Press Release:
This book will be available for purchase on August 13, 2013.

Dinosaurs 3D is written by award-winning dinosaur author, Dougal Dixon, who reveals the latest scientific discoveries about dinosaurs in a journey through time.
This 80-page book of exciting 3D images shows dinosaurs as you've never seen them. The book is packed with state-of-the art CGI artwork for kids ages 8 and up. From plant eaters to armored dinosaurs, the creatures seem to leap, crawl, stomp, and stampede off the pages and into your living room. The 3D photos are so eye-poppingly real, you'll think you've gone back in time!

No other dinosaur book comes close to delivering the impact of Dinosaurs 3D.  Dinosaur lovers young and old will thrill to this marvelous 3D menagerie and the surprising and little-known facts and educational information about each creature and how they compare to today's animals. Dinosaurs 3D digs through the past to explore and teach families all about meat-eaters, plant-eaters, armored, plated and horned dinosaurs, dinosaur extinction, and how they lived.

As I said, we loved the book!
If you have a fan of dinosaurs, or someone that just loves learning...
Look into getting this!
This would be a great back to school idea for the teacher... Or even start thinking ahead and get this for a Christmas gift!

Aveeno Baby For My "Baby"

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

Although Broxton is not technically a "baby" anymore... He will ALWAYS be MY baby...
I know I am not the only mom that feels that way, right?!

I have mentioned before that Broxton has eczema... Sometimes it is bad, sometimes you don't even know he has it... It just sort of comes and goes...  When it does flare up, I try and treat his skin a little bit more delicate than other times (gosh, that doesn't sound so good... but I mean I lotion him up more... we are more watchful in the tub.. things like that.. It does NOT mean I am negligent... just more conscientious... )
Anyways...
One thing I do love is taking care of his skin and keeping it as "baby soft" as long as possible.

When I heard that Aveeno Baby had an eczema cream and an eczema wash... I knew that was something I would like to have to use on him... so, lucky me that I was sent some for review!!!

The Aveeno Baby Eczema line has been really great for Broxton.
I hate to jinx things, but he has not had any flare ups this summer...
I am not saying that using this has kept it from happening, as I am not a doctor, but we have been using it and have been pretty lucky...   It is super creamy.. but I did not notice a fragrance or anything... So, that made me happy...   It left Broxton's skin soft and hydrated!!!!

One thing to point out... (Remember I am a celebrity junkie at times...)  I always think it is nuts that celebrities spend so much money on certain things... but then I found out that Aveeno Baby is a brand that Alissa Milano uses on her little one!!!  Nice to know that Broxton can have the "celeb treatment" without us breaking the bank!!!!   Head on out to a local store to see how you can baby your baby!!!

Home Entertainment (WBHE) releases the final 13 episodes of the hit Cartoon Network series on DVD June 18, 2013. The latest incarnation of the popular Scooby-Doo! franchise, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated follows teenage pals Daphne, Fred, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo as they investigate strange happenings in their hometown of Crystal Cove. Titled Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 2 Part 2: Spooky Stampede, this DVD release will feature the show’s last 13 episodes and will retail for $19.97 SRP.

Crystal Cove, the most “hauntedest” place on earth is about to get creepier! Join Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred and Velma in a set of all-new adventures as they continue their thrilling and terrifying tour of their hometown in the final episodes of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.  As the series draws to a close, the gang races against time, encounters sinister creatures and competes with other interested parties in order to solve the long buried secrets of their hometown. The sleuthing teens are also faced with having to solve one of their greatest mysteries yet – saving Earth from destruction! Viewers won’t hesitate to jump into the Mystery Machine for one wild ride after another along with Scooby-Doo and the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang in this must-own double disc set.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 2 Part 2: Spooky Stampede promises to be a season filled with engaging mysteries and non-stop action! The gang teams up with the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt to stop a giant dragon robot in Heart of Evil. In Theater of the Doomed, a historical re-enactment goes horribly wrong when the cast and crew are scared off by a specter during rehearsal.  Scooby-Doo and his pals are haunted by a herd of mutated skull cattle at a ranch in The Horrible Herd. In The Devouring, a monster appears in the middle of a cooking show. In Aliens Among Us, the gang is chased through a cave by extraterrestrials. Joining them along the way, are a variety of popular Hanna-Barbera classic characters including Dr. Benton Quest, Roger “Race” Bannon from Jonny Quest, Dog Wonder and many others.

“This adaptation of Scooby-Doo allows viewers to delve deeper into the personalities and lives of the series’ five central characters. The overall look and feel of the show is richer and more sophisticated than ever, with gorgeous animation and multifaceted storylines that are sure to draw in both kids and adults,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President Family & Animation and Partner Brands Marketing. She added, “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 2 Part 2: Spooky Stampede is a must-have for Scooby-Doo collectors.”

The first season finale of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated was Cartoon Network’s most watched program of the day and ranked #1 with Kids and Girls ages 2-11 and 6-11, while also ranking in the top 3 with all Boys.* Additionally, the animated series’ first season finale delivered over 2.5 million total viewers.*

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated centers on Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, who solve mysteries in the spooky town of Crystal Cove, a sleepy coastal village that boasts a long history of ghostly sightings, werewolves and glowing deep sea divers. Because of all the paranormal activity, Crystal Cove has become a tourist hotspot that capitalizes on its haunted reputation — and the gang's meddling is therefore not appreciated by the people of Crystal Cove. Executive produced by Sam Register, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated draws on the iconic look and feel of the original Scooby-Doo! series and is presented in a modernized visual style created by some of today's leading animation artists.
