Our Version of SNOW

Image
If you remember, we had a bad time with ICE in a previous winter... Well, ever since that disaster, Atlanta has tried to be cautious.  Some people (especially those further up North) like to make fun of us, but lets be honest... If you are not prepared for it, these "winter storms" can be pretty bad.  This year, they took no chance. Yes, it is funny, but I am NOT making fun.  I will always take the safe way when it involves my children!   My mom was here to visit and was planning on leaving Friday afternoon.  She was even going to surprise Broxton and have lunch with him at school. THEN. THURSDAY. NIGHT. HAPPENED. I received 2 text messages (one from school, one from county)  I received 2 calls on my cell, (again city and county) I received a call on the home phone and then 4 emails. School was going to be closing 2 hours early in preparation for the storm.  Yes, it was a bit excessive, but at least they were prepared and letting parents know in ple...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.     Winter months means we need to take care of our skin.  If you remember, Broxton has eczema that likes to flare up when the weather changes.  I don't go slathering Vaseline on him before school, but there are times when I do put it on him before bed.  I know that the Vaseline locks in moisture and Vaseline has been a name we have trusted for all of my life.  We are lucky enough that his school actually has a "school nurse" (I actually thought ALL schools had them, but Marc heard on the news the other day that not all schools require them)  and not too long ago, we had a note sent home with a list of items they were in need of.  One item on the list? Vaseline. I had to go in a...

Have You Ever Heard?

Let me get your opinion on something... You know how it has been so cold lately?  Well, school was supposed to start back on Tuesday for us... But, due to the cold weather, they cancelled school and have us planning to go back on Wednesday. I personally think that is fine... Now, I know that northern states are used to cold and laugh at us for cancelling school because of temperatures.  (It was 6* this morning, with the wind chill at -6*) but like I said, I am fine with them cancelling... Why? 1 - Because we were not sure if the roads were going to ice over... and that ICE STORM years ago still has a fear in me... 2 - Because they were unsure that the buses would start.  I guess there is something that the north does to prepare their buses, I heard it costs around $70 PER bus to get this taken care of...  Our education budget is so messed up already, I don't see the need to pay that for an "IN CASE" situation... 3 -  Some kids do not have appropriate clothin...

Do You Want To Build A Snowman?

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Oh My Goodness...   Do I have a product to tell you about...  Let me set it up first...  Marc has FREEZING cold feet at night...   BUT - he refuses to wear socks...   I don't know... he says they make his feet colder...    I don't get it... but it is his feet, so I just go with it...   Besides that, remember he works for the railroad... and is also National Guard.. meaning that he faces lots of different temperatures in his line of work...  Well, I was sent an email about Heat Holders and I wanted to try it out... They arrived and I was a bit skeptical...  They were like socks... but thick...   and the insides were super soft...  T...

Stay Safe and Snuggle In A @GOGOBlanket {Review}

This weather can not decide if it wants to be hot or cold... So, I am so glad that we were sent a GoGo blanket for us to review. Have you heard of the GoGo blanket before? I will admit, I hadn't... but I am glad that we have now!!!   In my opinion, a GoGo blanket is a must have for anyone that has a small child.  (It makes things so much easier!) The GoGo blanket showed up just in time for us...  Broxton had been complaining of being cold every time he went to school.....  I normally just threw a blanket on him and he would sit there ...  in his car seat... a bit restricted.  The same thing would happen when we went to visit my parents...   (Travelling when it gets dark, he always loves snuggling in a blanket!)  It was just hard to play with games... or eat a snack, or take a sip of a drink...   The GoGo blanket is a child's blanket, that has sleeves! By having a GoGo blanket, Broxton is able to be active and have fun while he i...
