Teaching Safety - I Can Play It Safe {Review}

Image
I need to start this post by saying a HUGE thank you to Elena over at Free Spirit Publishing. I love blogging and I love reading other blogs.  I was talking to a friend about "stranger danger" and I thought for sure that I should look to see what Free Spirit had to offer.  To be honest with you, I have no clue how to talk to that about Broxton. I mean, I want my son to be friendly and sociable... BUT, I DO NOT want anything to happen to him.  That also means I do not want him to be scared of people, but I don't want him to trust too much... Know what I mean? Having worked with Elena before, I emailed her about the book, I Can Play It Safe by Alison Feigh,  as I was not really sure if it was what I was looking for... but I know that Broxton loves reading and if it would help me at all, I wanted to check it out... As soon as the book arrived, I smiled so big... Thankful that Elena sent it along for me to review.  I will say, the approach to this subject is a

Talking To Kids - I'm Like You, You're Like Me {Review}

Broxton had never really been around other kids, until we found the church we go to... and until he started school.  It was hard... Our friends either did not have kids, or their kids were older... or they lived to far... or...  or... or.... We would go to the local parks and he would be the only kid there that day... It was hard... but we did see people out and about... I wanted him to get to be sociable, like me... That was why I was so happy when we found his school... he loves it, we love it... and he is social :)   That being said, we have never really talked about people being like us, or different from us.  I think with the wide mix of children at his school, it is just something he sees and does not think twice about... but I know the conversation will come up one day... I was excited when we were given the chance to review the book, I'm Like You, You're Like Me by Cindy Gainer.  In this book, we are introduced to kids of all different backgrounds.  The

Sterling Kids - Watch Me Grow Series

Image
We love to read and I love reading with Broxton.  We were recently sent two new books for us to check out, from the Watch Me Grow Series from Sterling Kids.   Up first was  Little Chipmunk's Wiggly, Wobbly Tooth .   This was a cute book, as it covered Little Chipmunk getting a loose tooth.  At first, he was embarrassed about it, since he new he brushed and flossed, so he did not want anyone to know about it.  He went to the dentist and the dentist explained that he was at the age where he would be losing his baby teeth for his adult teeth to come in.  Broxton is ready for the tooth fairy to come, so we discussed that he has to keep his teeth clean and his teeth healthy, so that the tooth fairy will come when he gets older and it is his time.  This book was great helping me explain about him losing his baby teeth as he gets older!  I already plan to take this one into his class for them to read one day.  (They had dental hygiene "class" the other day, so this works

Curious George Swings Into Spring

Image
The first day of Spring for 2013 is this Wednesday, March 20th. To get you kicked off to enjoy the new season, there is a new Curious George movie out:  Swing Into Spring. Swing into Spring is a "full length feature" coming in at 57 minutes.   I loved that it was that length.. It allowed to be a treat as it was longer than a show, but it was not too long to lose a kids interest.. In Swing into Spring, Curious George has a case of Spring Fever... and The Man in the Yellow Hat takes him out to see how the season is changing.... Of course, no episode of Curious George is complete without the monkey getting into something, so he has a mishap...   That leads Hundley to spend some time with them at their country house!!!  Hundley is a bit down about leaving the city, so George is trying to show him spring and get him excited.... Make sure to watch this to see what all happens next!!!! FTC Compliant Review Policy: The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of c
