Can you believe it is ALMOST Halloween?  Seriously, the days seem to go by quicker and quicker. (Maybe having 2 "babies" instead of just 1 adds to it, I am guessing!)  I don't know if you have Halloween traditions as far as dinner, but we all need to eat beforehand, if not... candy will really want to be eaten that night and we all know that as tasty as it is, candy for a meal is not the way to go.  Maybe you cook something, maybe you pick up...  How about grabbing a sack of Krystals to feed the crew before the adventurous night out???

To help get you into the Halloween spirit, Krystals is offering one lucky reader a Halloween pack.
This pack includes:
a Halloween basket  filled with candy, Krystal pumpkin stencils
and passes for free Krystal for a month*!
*Includes one free Krystal combo #1 every week for four weeks.

Football season is in full swing around here.  I am a fan of college ball, Go Dawgs!  Marc, on the other hand, is a fan of sports in general.  He loves his LSU Tigers, but he also is a fan of the NFL as well.  His team?  Its a toss up.  He likes the 49ers and the Saints.  We were given the opportunity to review a NFL Deluxe Youth Football Uniform Set from Franklin Sports and I asked Broxton which team he wanted to check out... He opted for the Niners (I know that made Marc's family out in Cali happy!)  So we went with that option for him.

Included is an official home team jersey, team helmet with authentic logo and team colors and team pants that will have them looking ready to take the field. The set also includes iron-on numbers (0-9) for the back of the jersey.

When it arrived, Broxton was so excited to put it on!   He quickly put the uniform on and was ready to go.  I was impressed with the quality.  I was thinking it was going to be cheaply made like other costumes, but this one seems to be holding up pretty well.  He gave it a good try in all sorts of poses and running around the place and it has held up to a rough little boy challenge!
I asked him to let me take pictures of him in it and thought that when he was finished he would want to take it off, nope... not the case!  He wore it the whole rest of the day and I actually had to make him change out of it.  He even tried wearing it to bed!

This is going to make a great dress up outfit for him.  He has enjoyed having it to wear around the house.  Please note that the helmet is a replica and is not an actual helmet.  This helmet is for costume play and is NOT to be used in actual contact sports.  The costume comes with the helmet, pants and a jersey.  Also included is a chin strap (We didn't use it yet) and iron on numbers!   I feel that this uniform is so much better than some of the other costumes for sports that we have seen.  If you want your little one to look great, look at Franklin for all your needs!

Do your children like to play dress up?  What team would they represent?

I am not a hippie at all, but I do think that VW Vans are super cute. I think I could have had a good time with the colors and all of the hippie time, but anyways.  I was excited to review the book, This Old Van by Kim Norman.  Please tell me that I am not the only one that started singing THIS OLD MAN as soon as I read the words...
If you are like me and the This Old Man song popped in your head when you read the title of the book, you might be like me and have a hard time READING the book.  I tried and tried, but every time I did, it came out as a song!

Here is one part of the book:
This old van, she passed one,
shining in the rising sun.

With a click clack rattle rack,
ready for some fun,
this old van says,
“GOOD-BYE, ONE!

Each page of the book has colorful illustrations and cute sing -songy text to go with it.  Join along with the riders of the van as they take a fun trip around.  Read the book to see where they end up!  We really enjoyed it (I read it to Broxton for part of his nightly reading!)

Oh My Goodness!!!   We received the CUTEST book for Savannah's library!   Although I am a bulldog fan and hate the gators (little college football for you)  I am loving this cute little gator named Dozi.
In Dozi the Alligator Finds a Family, we meet a cute little gator named Dozi.  Dozi lives away from people and the hustle and bustle of human life, but one day, curiosity gets the best of Dozi and the next thing we know, Dozi is on a journey closer to civilization!
Read the book to see what happens when Dozi finds a family and the cute bond of friendship that is formed over a road trip!  Dozi the Alligator is going to be a series, so I can not wait to see what happens next!

A series of books that we all seem to enjoy are the books from Ripley's Believe It or Not! They are great for all ages and for both boys and girls.  We have been fortunate to review a few of them and we have also bought many through the years.  In fact, when my mom came to visit last, she brought a copy of one of them for her to look through on the road trip up to see us.
A thing I enjoy about the Ripley's books is that you don't have to "read" it like a regular book.  You can flip and read a section or two, or even a paragraph or two at a time.  There is no particular order and to be honest, if you want to, you can just look at the pictures.  Of course, once you see the pictures, you want to read to see what it is all about, but I am pointing out that all ages can enjoy these books!

I will say that while many of the entries in these books are quite fascinating, there are some that make you feel sorry for the entrant and of course some make you a bit sick to your stomach (at least in my case that is.)

We were recently sent the latest, Ripley's Believe It or Not!  Eye Popping Oddities for review and it does not disappoint.
Check out the contents:

Beyond Belief

I thought it was awesome to see the Staple Portraits (a guy made a portrait of Darth Vader using 10,496 staples!)  Being a fan of all sorts of art, I would say that the ART section was my favorite, followed by the Pop Culture section.  I was not that fond of the food, but that was just because I did not want to see people drinking cow urine, but to each their own and I know different cultures see different things as normal.
This book was 245 pages full of fun facts that we will be looking at time and time again.

Have you ever been to a Ripley's location or checked out one of their books before?  (Broxton's school has a few in their library!)

The book is available through all major booksellers. The book will be easy to find - just look for the five 3D eyeballs on the cover (they'll be looking for you.) Inside lurks a collection of unbelievable stories.

  • Meet the "Austrian Rock," who uses his amazing
strength to pull a 156-ton airplane!
  • Read about the man who built his own iron suit to stand in the center of a fireworks display.
  • Check out Jorge Ivan Latorre Robles, who can stretch his skin, pop out his eyes and dislocate his joints, allowing him to fold himself into a suitcase!
  • Get the lowdown on a goldfish that underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor.
