As the time quickly approaches for Savannahs arrival, we are getting down to getting the basic things we still need to welcome her home. I will be the first to admit that I am still struggling thinking of things we need versus things I want versus things that are totally unnecessary. I started looking online for a few items and was introduced to the wide variety of things offered at Go Mama Go Designs.  Lucky for me, they have several things that I do think we need and I want to share two of them with you today.

Up first - a swaddling blanket.  If you come to our house (or if you know any of us at all) you will know that for the majority, we keep the house pretty chilly. I blame it on my mom, as she ALWAYS has the house cold and now Marc is just as bad.  Anyways, you don't want your little baby underneath a big old blanket (not only for safety, but also we know they are more than likely going to kick it off at some point.)  That is where the swaddling blanket comes in.  Not only is it a blanket to keep them warm where we have it cool, but it also swaddles and keeps them from jumping and waking themselves out of their sleep.  Imagine how LITTLE room they had while they were growing inside you and now - wow- the whole world is around them, that is a HUGE difference!
The other item we received?
A Changing Pad Cover.  You know what I am talking about... You buy the changing pad to be able to quickly and easily change their diapers, but you don't want to leave it that white plastic.  You buy a changing pad cover to go over the top.  They come in several covers to match the décor you have decided to go with.  For us, we went with brown.  It is a very universal color as far as décor goes and it will match the theme of her room.  Go Mama Go Designs has several different colors available for purchase and some are as low as $6.50 each!  Talk about a great deal!

Make sure you head on over to Go Mama Go Designs to see what all they carry.  I think their Wonder Bumpers are pretty cool, but we already had the bedding we wanted to use, so I did not need to look into that.

What are other odds and ends that you think are must haves before baby comes home

Who is YOUR Hero? Share with Mrs Fields @cookiemoment #ShareYourHero

FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

If you ask someone who their hero is, I am sure you will get 5 million different answers.  I was asked to be part of the #ShareYourHero Campaign with Mrs. Fields Cookies and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
First of all, I asked my 6 year old who a hero to him was.  OF COURSE his first answer was his daddy.  Not only because he is his daddy, but also because of the military.  Then, I asked him if he could tell me what a hero was.  He said a hero is somebody that is a good person and that helps you.

If you look up the definition of a hero, it says:
1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.
3.  the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc.

While I do agree that all of our military should be seen as a hero to everyone, I want to highlight two other forms of a hero (in my opinion) today as well.
Up first: I have a friend that I consider to be a hero.  You might wonder why.
Well, she is a MILITARY WIFE.  Yes, we love what we do and we support our spouse in their chosen direction, but I to #ShareYourHero, I wanted to give a little recognition to the military spouse.

My friend Andrea is a perfect definition.  They are currently stationed in Georgia (great for me, since that I how I met her and her family) but they have no blood family here.  They have 2 children and their family gets to watch the children grow up on facebook video's and text messages.  Moving here, they didn't know anyone, so it wasn't like they had family and friends to call to get a babysitter.  When she had her second child, they had no one to call to ask to help watch their oldest while they went to the hospital.  (Lucky they had family fly in for the birth, but not always is that the case.)  Yes, we choose to live this life, but as I said, I think today is a great day to recognize that military spouses are pretty heroic in their own way.

The second person that gets the hero status?  My husband picked my dad.
I was quite shocked by this one and it made me so proud.  Yep, I know my dad is a hero to me...  but to hear my husband say it just put me over the moon.  You see, my dad adopted me when I was younger.  So, he not only married my mom, but got me as a package deal.  To Marc, that is a big deal.  Not only because of my dad and our history, but because Marc has always looked up to my dad and has made several comments about him being the male figure in his life that he always needed / wanted.   Talk about hearing something great!!!!

We were sent special cookies from Mrs. Fields that have stickers on them that has a spot to write in the name of a hero.  Of course, we had to share with the heroes mentioned already, but Broxton is so excited to get to take and give them to different heroes in our community. He believes that the firemen, police and EMS workers all deserve to be recognized as heroes every single day!!!!
Make sure to head over to my INSTAGRAM page to see more photos!

So, today, as I celebrate the different HEROES in MY LIFE... Take a minute and tell me who a hero to you might be.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Fields for letting us be a part of this campaign!

Don't you want to be a part of this too?  Just head over to
Mrs. Fields website and enter the contest!  The winner will win a years supply of Mrs. Fields cookies for themselves and their hero.  They would also win their hero being on a future box of cookies!!!

Just in case you were not aware... Kidz Bop 29 is headed our way!!!!
If you remember, Broxton is OBSESSED with these CD's. Every day I hear him asking to please play the CD for him.  He has even said he needs to get a CD player so that he can listen to the music when he is at home playing with his toys, not just in the car. I hate to admit that I know
NONE of the songs on the latest CD, but Broxton knows one...  The song "GDFR" He heard it from his brothers and he has to listen to it all the time.  Now, he can listen to it in the car.  I love that the songs are all clean. We can listen to the music and I don't have to worry about any profanity.  These CD's are great for kids parties, the pool and other fun times when music is around children!

Check out the play list.
How many of the songs do you know?

Have you ever heard of the brand, Feltman Brothers
I didn't know anything about it, until Broxton was born and someone gave us one of their outfits.  To say I fell in love would be an understatement. Growing up, my grandmama made our clothes and yep, she even knew how to smock.  I think clothing with smocking are absolutely beautiful, but they can get rather pricey. We were lucky that she was able to smock (*and save lots of money) I am not so lucky now, as far as her sewing abilities.
She is 90 something years old and no longer sews...  So, if I want a cute little smocked outfit, I have to buy one or have someone give me one...
I was SO EXCITED when I learned I would have the chance to work with Feltman Brothers in a review.

We were sent the Baby Girl Pintucked and Smocked Dress.   Just look at the detail they put into making the outfit just as precious as can be!!!!  Seriously, this looks just like something my grandmama would have made, if she was still able to make clothes!  This is made with a light pink fabric and then you can see the smocking on there.  BEAUTIFUL!

As I said, I am so excited that we have such a beautiful outfit for Savannah to wear!  I can not wait to get her pictures taken in something so classic!  They really do look like your grandmama made it especially for your little one.  Full of care and love!

*** This is NOT Savannah, but I can not wait for a precious picture like this to show her in her new dress from Feltman Brothers!!!!

Time is ticking down for the arrival of our little one this summer!   Knowing that, we are trying to finish getting all the different things we need to have it all on hand when she gets here.  If you remember from previous posts, I mentioned how you could do a themed gift bag for the parent to be, you could do a brand or you could do lots of odds and ends.  The products mentioned today would make a great gift bag of odds and ends that would be perfect!  From covering the end with skin protectant ointment to covering their body with a swaddling blanket, this is great. Not to mention the mealtime scissors for those a little older! Read on to see what would make a great gift for anyone you know!
Skin Care / Diaper Cream - She isn't here yet, but I know we had ointment on hand for Broxotn, so I know I want to make sure we are stocked and prepared this time around as well!  Hipoglos is the leading skin care ointment/diaper cream in Latin American for over 60 years! The gentle formula is very easy to apply and helps keep baby's bottom dry and healthy.

We never had any swaddle type blankets for Broxton and I could not figure out how to swaddle at home.  I have a feeling that this is going to get plenty of use!  Halo Innovations best known for their HALO SleepSack and SleepSack Swaddle introduced SwaddleSure Adjustable Swaddling Pouch which is a safe and secure way to swaddle.  It's a different design than our SleepSack Swaddle which remains in the line, but the new SwaddleSure provides the same benefits.  The price point is also lower ($14.99.)

I can not tell you the number of times I had to sit there and cut up food items for Broxton.  I think it would have been so much easier to have these Mealtime Scissors on hand.  They are in our drawer, ready for when she is ready to get a nibble of food from mom and dads plate. (Yes, I know we have a bit of time before we have to worry about that.)  BiteSizers Mealtime Scissors is the perfect food accessory for the parent of a toddler starting solids.  BiteSizers allows you to cut food into the right size for your toddler quickly and easily.  You can cut vertically or horizontally and all with one hand.  So much quicker than a knife and fork.  BiteSizers was developed by a mom and dad who wanted to share their own food with their your sons in order to introduce them to a wide range of tastes and textures.

What item sounds like the best item to receive to you?  I am excited to try them all out!

We are already stocking the library with books for Savannah.  Granted, many of them will be coming from Broxton's collection, but she will be getting new books as well.  When I saw the adorable bedtime books from Sterling Publishing, I knew we would love to check them out!
Sleepy Kitty and Sleepy Puppy are the two new titles that we were sent.  These books are both board books and are the perfect size for little hands to hold and check out each page.
I am not a fan of cats / kittens, but Broxton and I both thought that the Sleepy Kitty book was cute.  I love that you have one page with a sweet little photo and then the opposite page has a solid background with simple text.

Broxton absolutely loved the Sleepy Puppy book.  He wanted to take it for his own, but then decided that he would let his little sister have it and he will read it to her!

These books are both cute in the way they show these cute little puppies and kitties before they go to sleep!  I know most kids love looking at the baby animals, so I know we are going to be looking at these books over and over again!

Have Fun Styling and Coming Up with New Designs! #Lalaloopsy

If you have a little girl in your life, chances are, you are familiar with Lalaloopsy.  When Broxton was in PRESCHOOL, I was first introduced to these cute little dolls.  A girl in his class was OBSESSED with them.  I believe she had pretty much every single one that was out and she would bring a different one to school each day. Lucky for us, they released a few new toys of them right at her birthday, so we were able to grab a new one that she did not have. (Oh yeah, she loved it...  She even had a specially made Lalaloopsy cake for her party!)
So, I had a blast shopping for her birthday gift and at that point, I was really wishing I had a little girl to buy these dolls for. (Their show is super cute too, if you have not watched it, check it out!)  Now that we have a baby girl on the way, I am excited that these dolls are still around and even more excited that they keep releasing new ones!
We were sent the Lalaloopsy Stretchy Hair Doll for review and I will tell you, it was fun to play with. I can see how they will have hours of fun with this one!
I like that the doll is made of plastic, so you can wipe it off if she gets dirty. This particular doll has stretchy hair.  If you notice the white cupcake looking thing off to the side, you twist it "open" to allow for air.  Then, notice the big yellow bow type thing in the center... you just pump it up (like 10 times or so) and then you can stretch the hair.  It says to stretch it no longer than arms length.  I am presuming they mean a kids arm length, since it might be weird for adults to be playing with this...   (It reminded me a bit of stretch Armstrong from my younger days....)
Now, you have her hair ready to play and do what you want to it.  You can twist it or style it or make it in a bun... Whatever floats your boat!  If the hair starts to not stick as well as it once did, you just wipe it off with a wet cloth and then wait for it to dry, that means it might have gotten a bit dirty!
Yep! The stretchy hair doll even comes with hair clips for you to style it just how you want it to look!  I had a great time playing with it to see how it worked for the review and I can only imagine the fun Savannah and I will have with her dolls over the years to come!

Are you familiar with Lalaloopsy??

Where will you go with @escapemonthly

**  I was given a discount to check this out. All opinions are my own. **
THIS IS AN UPDATED POST....

I love to travel.  I will be honest, I never flew on a plane until I was in my third year in college and once I did, it was over... I loved it and I went a few places in my twenties.  Hey, you live once and you need to make the most of it, at least that was how I felt!
Once I was married and an "adult" bills took over and I could not just fly here and there, I had to be "responsible."  Don't get me wrong, we went on a few little vacations here and there, but come on, you know it gets expensive the more you have.  It was no longer just ME... I had Marc and the boys... so flying to Chicago for the weekend turned into a staycation for us and trips to the Zoo and other fun places.

Escape Monthly Box

Having a family is great and I would not trade it for anything in the world.  Now instead of travelling by plane places, I normally "escape" for a bit and google different places. It is fun to read about it and then see the images (not to mention it is SO MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE!)    The only problem with travelling online is that you can't taste / smell/ hear the things that make that area what it is.  I learned about a company called ESCAPE MONTHLY and I wanted to try it out.  It is a monthly subscription box that lets you escape.
Each month you learn where you will be headed and then you are sent a box of goodies from that location.   They tag it with "Vacation in a Box."  The boxes are $49.95 a month (includes shipping) and you get a box full of things to let you escape.
Opening the box - See all the goodies waiting on you?

I will tell you, I was really excited to get this box, since it was European Christmas themed, but once it arrived, I was not that impressed.  I hate to say it, but maybe I am just too picky, or maybe these surprise boxes are just not my thing.  Remember, the box was $49.95 (including shipping) here is what was inside:

Contents of the box laid out to show you.
As I was saying, it was $49.95 for the box.  They include a sheet that tells you what the aproximate cost of each item is to show you are getting what you paid for, but as I said, I wasn't that impressed.  I had already signed up for the membership (I was SO EXCITED about travelling somewhere new each month! )  Our box included:   a handsewn Christmas ornament, a candy bar type food, a jam/jelly, a paste, tea, cake and a book telling about the area.  I feel that the book took up most of the money and to be totally truthful, with the internet at our fingertips, I felt that was a waste.  I thought I would get more knick knack type things and less of the food items.

I will say this, they "travel" here, there and everywhere, so it really is a great concept. I originally learned about the box when it was Hawaii themed, but I was excited and waited for Europe. They also do boxes for the USA, so don't think it is just overseas.  I mentioned that I had signed up for the membership, so I do need to tell you, as soon as this box arrived, I contacted them and told them I wanted to cancel.  They were very nice and fast in honoring my request, no hassle at all!  Would I get it again?  I am not so sure, I love the concept behind it, but as I said, I just was not that impressed with the contents.

Their upcoming box (for June) is Victoria / Vancouver BC. July will take you to India!
Let me know if you are a subscriber to Escape Monthly or if this is something that interests you at all.
