Educator Living in Florida???

Image
I was not compensated for this post.  I just really feel like educators are not noticed for how much of an impact they have on our kids.  Ripley's is showing their support, so I wanted to help spread the word!   A great deal with Ripley's... If you are an educator that words in Florida, check it out!     Ripley's Believe It or Not! attractions in Florida are again showing their support for K-12 educators that work within the state.     All Ripley attractions in Orlando, Panama City Beach, St. Augustine and Key West will be FREE for educators in the state from September 2 through October 19. Teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff are eligible for free admission; they just need to bring a current pay stub and photo ID when they visit the attraction. Additionally, up to five guests that come with an educator get 50% off their admission. Ripley's Believe It or Not! Orlando is conveniently located at 8201 International Driv...

A Thank You To ALL Teachers - Because You Are My Teacher

Image
Having a great teacher can really make a difference in the life of a child.  If you think about it, they spend so much time with your kids... and (we hope) that they are positive role models for them to look up to.  I know when I was younger, we would play school from time to time... and we would teach the lesson, grade their work and so forth... If you don't have a teacher that you like, why would you even play a game like that?  I mean, you wouldn't enjoy it, would you?    I am also not just talking about teachers in elementary school...  Nursery school teachers teach about socialization and many other aspects that are ideal for a great learning environment, then you have your school teachers, from Kindergarten to your Senior year... But you then go off to college and you have your "professors" there... They are still teaching you ...  Let's not forget all the homeschooling parents out there...  To me, that is someone special!  I mean, n...

The End of Molasses Classes - Book review

Image
Have you heard of Ron Clark? I heard of him a couple years ago... I believe it was Oprah who brought him to the surface for all of us...   Well, I know it was Oprah for me... Maybe I paid more attention because it took place in Atlanta... Maybe it was because I remember wishing that school was more interesting... Either way, when I heard that there was a book titled, The End of Molasses Classes, by Ron Clark ... I knew I wanted to read it... It was full of 101 idea's - "Extraordinary Solutions for Parents and Teachers." I never gave it much thought, but he was able to summarize in two words what many of us can write about in paragraphs... MOLASSES CLASSES. You know what I am talking about, unless you were lucky enough to have a teacher (or if you were really lucky, teacherS) like Ron Clark.  Molasses Classes... they went SO SLOW... Slow as Molasses! After reading this book, I tell you know... I would LOVE to go back to school...  Yes, even middle and...

Barney: 1-2-3 Learn

Image
My little brother LOVED Barney! I remember the whole " I love you" song and everything, but I thought that Barney was just a thing from back when my brother was younger. You can only imagine what my facial expression looked like when I heard the Big Purple Dinosaur come on TV one morning! I brought Broxton in the living room and we watched the same type of program that I remembered my brother watching! So many shows today are so completely different from how they started out, or at least how I remembered them! Not the case with Barney!!!! I was excited to know that not only were we getting the chance to review a new Barney DVD, it was the Barney: 1-2-3 Learn one!!! As soon as it came, we immediately put it in!!! I loved it!!! Yes, there are new characters and of course the children have changed, but some things remain! Teaching!!!! Barney and friends not only taught how to know your different shapes, they made games out of it! They showed us how different musical instruments ...
