While some people may enjoy going out for St. Patricks Day- others might want to have the festivities at home.  I know when I worked in the bar, people would use that as a great time to go out and have fun... Like adults need an excuse?  Hey, it is Monday guys, we made it through the start of a work week!   Seriously though...  If you want to have the festivities - or if you are busy scrambling to get kids fed, homework done, baths had and ready for bed... but you still want to have a great celebration...
Think about stopping by the store and making it a fun night in!!!

As we all know, technology is taking over the world.  I think I am going to be one of the last few holding on to my paperback book... but, I do like technology as well!  When we opened the mail and found a few  new books for Broxton, I was excited to see that they were not only hard copy books.... Each purchase included a Mobile App!!!   That was so great to me - covering both bases!!!!

Minnie's BowToons - Trouble Times Two is actually offered in a couple different formats.  You can purchase it as an ebook, as a sticker book (like the picture) or with the mobile app.  In the app, you get to design bows with Minnie!!!   This was a cute book to us, Broxton loved it too... Maybe because of Minnie's nieces coming in and causing trouble and chaos!!!

Jake and the Neverland Pirates - Follow that Sound was the other book we were sent.  It also comes in a couple different formats.  It comes as an ebook, a sticker book or with the app - in this app, you get to do shape puzzles!  Follow that Sound introduces us to a cute little Monkey that gets a harmonica that was originally the gangs and they go on an adventure to get it back!!!

We loved all of these books and I have loved having books throughout the house.  It gives Broxton plenty of opportunities to always have a book in his hands!!!

A little known secret of mine?  I am addicted to sweets!  Actually, it isn't really a secret.. and I may or may not be addicted.  The jury is still out on that one... I will tell you this though... Edwards has been in our freezer as often as in the freezer of the grocery store.  True story.
After Broxton was born, I was lucky enough that my parents let us move in with them while Marc was deployed.  I wanted to lose the weight I had gained while pregnant... but since I am a lover of dessertS - I knew it was going to be hard.  My dad would grab the Edwards SINGLE SLICE servings for a nice treat from time to time...  They have always been great.. But lets get real - If you have people coming over or you want dessert for the family, someone is going to get jabbed with a fork if you only have ONE slice to offer everyone.  That is where Edwards WHOLE pies come in.
They have several pies to choose from, but get this ---  They NOW HAVE CHEESECAKE!!!!
We have always had their Key Lime Pie, but I had to try out the cheesecake.  I didn't fancy mine up, like they did on the box, we just went plain and it was Ah-MAZ-ING!!!!

If you are not aware, National Pie Day is actually Friday, March 14th this year.
What better reason to enjoy in a favorite pie flavor???
The New York Style Cheesecake tastes just as great as the cheesecake I tried while IN New York and it is much more convenient (and affordable) to buy one at the grocery store and just keep in your freezer!!!!
Broxton is never really a cheesecake fan and that works out great for Marc and I... but he actually ate this (and loved it)  going so far as to ask for another slice the next night!!!!

Let me start by saying : I love books and I love movies. (Oh, and maybe I should mention I am a sap for anything sweet and emotional!)  Okay, now that we have that cleared up... I am so excited to see the movie, The Book Thief.  To be honest, I would love to read the book as well... but, that probably won't be happening  anytime soon.  So - I have to make time to see the movie (I keep putting it off in hopes of reading the book first!)
I did want to let you know it was available on DVD and Blu-Ray now - so you can check it out!!!!
Let me know what you think!!
Also - I have added discussion questions at the end of this post, I loved reading them when I was in my book club, so I am sure you will too!  Talk about thoughts to ponder!

Synopsis:  THE BOOK THIEF
Based on the beloved best-selling book comes an “extremely moving” (Leonard Maltin, Indiewire) story of a girl who transforms the lives of those around her during World War II, Germany.  When her mother can no longer care for her, Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) is adopted by a German couple (OSCAR® Winner Geoffrey Rush* and OSCAR® Nominee Emily Watson**).  Although she arrives illiterate, Liesel is encouraged to learn to read by her adoptive father.  When the couple then takes in Max (Ben Schnetzer), a Jew hiding from Hitler’s army, Liesel befriends him.  Ultimately, words and imagination provide the friends with an escape from the events unfolding around them in this extraordinary, acclaimed film directed by Brian Percival (Downton Abbey).

Previously Unpublished Margaret Wise Brown in Goodnight Songs

Previously unpublished Margaret Wise Brown.  Okay, now that I have your attention...
Margaret Wise Brown is the author of Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny.  (More than that, but those are the two that we know!)   Well, come to find out...  After she passed, it was found out that she had a treasure trove of unpublished works, just waiting to be shared with the world ! Luckily for us, it was allowed to be published --  but what is better is that she had music to go with these treasures and that is what we are blessed with now!!!
Goodnight Songs is a beautifully illustrated book with each of these songs on a two page spread.  There is also a CD included in a special flap on the front cover.
From Amy Gary - Editor of the Margaret Wise Brown Estate:
" As she listened to children go about their lives, she realized that they made up songs about whatever it was they were doing at the time.  She wanted to capture that spirit of a child's world in her songs the way she had in stories."

To be honest, I am so impressed with this book that it is not even funny!
Not only are we getting previously unpublished works...  and it is set to music... But one thing that makes it even better?  We get awesome illustrations on each song... each one from a different "award- winning picture book artists."  Tell me this isn't a great treasure to keep?

We don't have a CD player, so I had to play it on my laptop.  I put it on and the soothing voice I was greeted with immediately sent me to a calm and relaxing place.   I think that this would be nice to have playing in the background as you get your little one ready for bed and then you can snuggle up and look at the pages/listen to a few more before they drift off to sleep!    (Just be warned, it might make you sleepy too!)
