The Sisters Grimm: The Council Of Mirrors

I admit, I had never heard of The Sisters Grimm books...
So, I had to Wikipedia them to learn:
The Sisters Grimm ,Fairy tale detectives is an interesting story based around the mysterious lives of two young orphans, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm. This story continues to tell an adventurous story of the two girls journey.

Now that I have learned that, I also learned that the book, Council of Mirrors, is the last book.
What?!  Guess I need to go to the library and read the series when I get a bit of time..
Until then, here is the synopsis on the final book:

About the book
In the final volume in the Sisters Grimm series, Sabrina, Daphne, and the rest of the Grimms and their friends must face off against the Master to decide the fate of Ferryport Landing—and the world. When Mirror fails to escape the barrier using Granny Relda’s body, he turns to his plan B: killing all the Grimms so that the magical barrier collapses. In the meantime, Sabrina has gathered the other magic mirrors as advisors on how to deal with their mortal enemy. They tell her to join forces with the Scarlet Hand against Mirror, in exchange for offering all the citizens of Ferryport Landing their freedom. This final chapter is the end of the road for several beloved characters, but the conclusion is sure to satisfy devoted fans of the series.

Have you ever heard of  or read any of The Sisters Grimm books?

Caldrea Essential Collection: Smell Good and Decorate As Well

Caldrea has an Essential Collection that I would like to tell you about.

Found at select Target locations, you can purchase a kitchen fragrance diffuser, for less than $20.  This would make a great addition to your home, or a fun and funky gift.
They currently have four scents that range from Basil to Rosemary and all in between.

I like that the holder is a basic white... with different colored stems to add the burst of color to your room.

We were sent the Herbs of Provence (it has a blue stem on it.)
I will tell you that I have not really noticed a smell.  I have had sinus problems for the past couple months.. So, I do not know if it is just a very subtle scent, or what the deal is...   I am guessing it is pretty subtle and just me, as Marc says he can smell it and he likes it...  oh and of course, Broxton says "it smells good!"  I hate that I am missing out on it wafting through the house, but then again, it might not be as strong as I would like...  I still just do not know!
I have it placed on our counter top and I personally like the artistic look of it.  I would use it for that alone, so I guess that might be why it hasn't bothered me.  I will also add that one day, I wasn't thinking and I grabbed the stem part... Remember I said ours was blue, well some of the blue left a mark on my fingers.. I don't know if that is normal or not, but then again, you aren't supposed to be picking it up by that anyways, just wanted to add that in for those that might be like me and not always thinking...

Here are the scents they are available in:

Natural Essential Oils of Lemon and Basil
Energizing verbena, with zesty lemon, blend seamlessly with green basil and delicate hyacinth bells. This rousing mix is grounded with complex green tea for a healthy blend.

Natural Essential Oils of Mandarin and Lime
This soft, playful and spirited scent is a compelling citrus blend, wrapped in the sweet exotic fruits and the warmth of perennial favorites rose, jasmine water and ginger. Take a deep breath, fill your mind with freshness.

Natural Essential Oils of Rosemary, Thymes and Sage
Refresh your senses with the sunny, savory fragrance of a kitchen garden in Provence. Complimentary notes of lavender, lily of the valley and mint evoke the easy charm of the south of France.

Natural Essential Oils of Grapefruit, Ginger and Basil
Brighten your day with the spicy tang of ginger and a lively twist of citrus. Green notes of basil impart freshness and a touch of cool to set this fragrance apart from the ordinary.

Head on over to Target and let me know if they are near you!

The Playdate Was Hard To Put Down

Have you ever picked up a book and had the hardest time putting it down?
That was the case with me when I was reading The Playdate by Louise Millar.

I mean, you look at the cover of it and see " You leave your kid with a friend, everyone does it, until the day it goes wrong."  Wow... that right there kinda sucks you in and you just have to keep reading it to see where it is going...

This book is about a girl, Callie and her best friend Suzy.  More than best friends, they are also neighbors.
As the book starts, you see that it takes place in London... With references to "the telly" and of  "tea."

You quickly learn that Suzy is a mom of three young kids and that Callie is a mother to one little girl....  Their children go to school together and it is as though the other mothers in the school are not very friendly towards Callie, as well as her daughter Rae.  We also learn that Rae has a heart condition that causes more concern for her to not get too excited....
As the book continues, we read about their new neighbor Debs and she is full of issues as well.  Seems as though the neighborhood is full of them.
The Playdate rotates from the view of one of the three women throughout with short chapters full of excitement.  I did notice that I was reading super fast to get to the next page to see what was ahead.  At a few times, I caught myself wanting to skip over to see if I could figure it out, but I would not allow myself to ruin the book and do that, so I just read at every chance I had!

Literally, I started around lunch one day and read at every opportunity, went to sleep and woke up to read the last couple chapters before Broxton woke.
I was very impressed with Louise Millar and if her writing stays this way, I have found a new author to start following.

I even told my mom that she needs to check it out... I know she would enjoy reading it, but I did go ahead and warn her, there is use of the ever so popular f-bomb in there... not as bad as others I have read, but I did want her to know... (You too.)

If you are one that is in a book club, I say check it out..
It is not a book " for moms," but rather a book that will make anyone turn the page as fast as they can!!
Not to mention, they also have the "discussion questions" at the end to allow you to converse about it when you have finished.

To go ahead and grab your attention for the next book by Millar, they have also added the first 2 chapters of her next book.  I have not read that yet, as I wanted to go ahead and get this book review posted for you...

Sound like something you would be interested in reading?

Mrs. Meyer's Cleans With a Minimal Amount

Apartment living has its ups and downs..
I could list tons of them for you, but I want to focus on one in particular right now..
Laundry Room Space.
You see, we have no storage closets, so for the most part, our laundry room is storage too...
From wrapping paper to tools, they go in there..
So, when it comes time for necessities, smaller is better...
I love buying toilet paper and things in bulk, as I know we will need them (and it's cheaper) but then, we run out of room!

That was why I was excited to try Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Detergent.  This little bottle has 68 loads worth in it!  That is a great deal for a small bottle.    Not only is it small, so it takes up less room..
It is also great smelling... I love to wash my clothes and have a great scent on them when they come out of the wash.  You know, I don't see if detergents bubble up or anything, since we have a plain old washer that you can not see in.. (Not to mention that I heard it doesn't even matter about the suds and in some cases, sudsy = not good.)  So, when I wash my clothes and dry them... I like pulling them out of the dryer, smelling fresh and looking clean...
That is what I got when using Mrs. Meyer's.  The clothes did not have a knock you down smell, but it was light and crisp.  Letting you know they were washed, fresh and ready to go... No dirt and no residue!
That makes me happy, so we know.. When Mama is happy = everyone should be happy!

This is yet another product that I would recommend for kids going to college... It takes up very little room (We know dorm rooms don't have much space) and it is light, for lugging back and forth to the laundry mat!
Not to mention the smell!  Great overall product and our clothes come out looking great!!!!

New! Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lemon Verbena Laundry Detergent is remarkably concentrated 4X, one of our hardest working cleaners. Safe and gentle on clothes - yet it really packs a punch when it comes to removing dirt and grime. Contains Anionic Surfactants from plant-derived sources, Cotton Extract, Borax, dirt and stain-fighting enzymes, and, of course, those important all-natural fragrances & essential oils. Earth-friendly, HE compatible, & concentrated for 68 loads. Also a great stain pre-treater.

Good things really do come in small packages.  1 TABLESPOON = 1 LOAD

How Do You Define A Hero? Movie Review

While visiting my parents, I had the time to watch a movie that we had received for review...
I thought it would be nice to watch with my mom, as it said " they messed with the wrong senior citizen" for their tag line...  Well, she was at work, so I thought I would go ahead and watch it and then let her watch it later if she wanted too..
I am so glad I watched before her... the f bomb was used about 7 million times, that was in the first half of the movie...   I mean, I understand getting the point across, but wow... it was pretty foul and it was one that I know my mom would not enjoy, let alone watch...

Let me summarize it for you:
This guy goes and fights in Vietnam.  He was gone for like 7 years... between war and being a POW...
When he returns, to his sweetheart, he learns that she has moved on in her life and he is then just wandering aimlessly.  He is not having any luck in the civilian world, as he has no college education, nor any formal job training... it was hard to do any of that while fighting in a war, you know?
So, he is riding the bus and these 2 punks are giving this older gentleman a hard time...
Finally, he has enough and stands up, telling them to take his seat in the back and not cause any problems... of course, they were punks, so they tried being all tough (meanwhile ALL of this is being filmed by this chic on her camera phone...)  so, he handles the business they start, basically giving them what they deserve... In the technological world we live in, it is IMMEDIATELY a hit all over You Tube...   and that my friends is where he ends up getting the name, Bad Ass...

The movie then basically has us watching how the community that once had nothing to do with him (remember, Vietnam Veteran) now sees him as a "HERO" for what he did on the bus... I myself find that a bit ironic...  not a hero for serving your country, but 40 years later, a hero for fighting on a bus...
Anyways, the movie keeps going showing us how he lives... No, he doesn't seek out trouble, so to speak... but he does handle what needs to be done, including looking for the killers of a friend of his, since the police are "busy" looking, but you know they aren't...
If the language wasn't so bad (including the neighbor KID that really needs to be reprimanded for his filthy mouth)  I would probably have enjoyed it more...  Now, don't go thinking I am a saint or anything, I just think that they might have gone a bit overboard in the language this time...

Here is the Official Synopsis:

Kicking criminal butts and taking the law into his own hands, Danny Trejo (Machete, "Sons of Anarchy") ignites the screen in the gritty, violent and enthralling film Bad Ass, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD June 5 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Inspired by the viral video of a vigilante citizen taking action into his own hands, Bad Ass also stars Ron Perlman ("Sons of Anarchy," Hellboy) and Charles S. Dutton (Alien 3).

Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It's not until 40 years later when an incident on a commuter bus, where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads, makes him a local hero and he's suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his best friend Klondike is murdered and the police aren't doing anything about it.

Directed by Craig Moss (The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It), Bad Ass is inspired by the Epic Beard Man video that captured two men's highly charged verbal and brutal physical altercation on a public bus in Oakland, California. Posted to YouTube, the video spread like wildfire and the heroic elder bearded man was anointed Epic Beard Man. The video has garnered more than five million views.

Thanks Again to the Patriot Guard

If you were here last week, you read about how awesome the Patriot Guard Riders were in getting Marc and the guys home from their deployment in Afghanistan of 2010.
Well, today, I am going to tell the other side of how they work...

Remember when I posted about LCPL Steve Sutton giving the ultimate sacrifice?

Well, there were all sorts of rumors about that "church" that protests the funerals of fallen military members...
They had posted on their site to plan to go and protest the funeral for him...
Yes, we were all worried they would be there... and I even prayed for strength not to stoop to their level in dealing with them...

It was a relief to know that the cities of both Leesburg and Albany came together to show honor and respect to a hometown hero....
Not to mention, the Patriot Guard Riders were there...

They were there to welcome him body home from the airport... They escorted his body to the funeral home.  They lined the area for the funeral... I had to go meet someone and of course, I drove by to see all the PGR there...  There were HUNDREDS.
When heading home, the family passed by... Once again, escorted by even more PGR.  Then, his body went by... once again... more PGR... Of course, being a military wife, this hit harder than others...

That afternoon, they had the funeral (for family and close friends)  with burial to follow.  The people in the community wanted to show their support for the family, so we all lined the roads (over 10 miles) from the church to the grave.

The Patriot Guard Riders waiting out front of the church.

PGR with flags...
Beautiful bike and Patriot Guard Rider...
City of Leesburg with their Flag held high....
All over Albany and Leesburg, you could see signs like this... This was just one of  many.
Another flag at the entrance of the cemetery.
If you can see the boom truck in the distance, they had like 7 or 8 lined up on the last stretch of road to  the cemetery with a person up there holding a flag.

They even had military at the entrance of the cemetery.

Then, there were HUNDREDS of bikes... From Patriot Guard Riders to local biker groups that wanted to show support.  With each bike that passed, my heart ached more... for the loss of their loved one... and also my heart was full of pride... Proud that although he passed, his wife could look out and see that there was love from a community... No, that would not help, but I am sure it did make her feel a bit hopeful knowing that he died serving a country and that our community loves him and was there to support his family and friends during this time...

Finally, I am not sure what they did, but as the grave side service was being held, there were marines there at the entrance on some sort of funeral detail...

Once again, I was so overwhelmed and emotional with the support of our community.  Not only for the community to come together to honor this hero, but a huge thanks to the Patriot Guard Riders for being there... Not to mention, biker groups get a bad name and it was nice to see them there for the good of the community and for people to see that.

Caldrea Palmarosa Wild Mint Smells Awesome

Have you ever heard of the line, Caldrea, before?

Just a bit of information on their products, from their website:

We also make cleaning tools, have a full line of laundry care and a collection just for baby. Caldrea products are highly effective, consistently earth-friendly, and an absolute pleasure to use. Our products are not tested on animals and they are paraben-, formaldehyde-, ammonia-, chlorine-, phosphate-, petroleum distillate- and phthalate-free.

I have heard of Caldrea before, and as of late, I am now in love.
We were sent a bottle of the Palmarosa Wild Mint and I tell you this..
I LOVE the way my hands smell when using it!

I actually have it in my kitchen and I notice me washing my hands for no reason what so ever, except to have the chance to enjoy the scent that is left once I am finished.  Is that weird? (I plan on hinting around to wanting a candle in that fragrance.)
Literally, I wash my hands, dry them and then hold them to my face and enjoy the pleasant aroma that is left.

The Palmarosa Wild Mint is described as:
Beloved for its rejuvenating and invigorating qualities, palmarosa oil is derived from a graceful grass that grows in India. Its cool, light fragrance is reminiscent of geranium with a hint of rose, which pairs perfectly with the clean, herbal scent of wild mint. Jasmine adds sophistication. Woody notes of moss and sandalwood provide softness and depth.

The scent is a subtle aroma that doesn't knock you down, but it does let you know that you have been graced by its presence.  I really like that their design is simple (yet classy) enough to correlate to all decorating designs and that it can be used in the kitchen or the bathroom.

If you are looking to change things up a bit, head out and grab this...
You will be glad you did!!!!

( I personally wish they would make a gift basket with several of their items grouped together for a discounted price.  I see they have the Sink Set ... that I want... but I wish they would add a candle to one of their sets too!)

***** This would make a great gift idea for a girl heading to college... The sink set would cover the basics that she would want and need! *****

Here is a recipe you can try out as well:

Pineapple Chicken Kabobs Recipe

Ground pepper to taste
1 medium Del Monte® red bell pepper, cut into (24) 1-inch squares
½ large Del Monte® sweet onion, cut into (24) 1-inch pieces
Peanut oil
To make basting sauce, in a small bowl whisk together honey, 2 tbsp. lime juice, and 2 tbsp. soy sauce until smooth.
Sprinkle chicken pieces with remaining 1 tbsp. of lime juice and soy sauce. Sprinkle with pepper to taste. Marinate 15 to 30 minutes.

Where In The World....@theellenshow Is Just One

Back before I was married and a mommy, I traveled.
It was fun, but being where I am at now, I would not trade it for anything in the world...

Participating in Wordless/Wordful Wednesday, I have seen a couple pretty cool things that I have added to my "want to see that " list....

Have you ever seen a "SHOE TREE" before?
I thought it was just a crazy thing that a W/W person came upon, but then I googled it and shut your face... it is an actual thing that is in a couple different places..
Basically it is a tree that people have put shoes all over...

Now, that might not sound that neat to you, but I would love to see it..
Truth be told, if I didn't think people up here would steal them, I would totally try and start one on my own...

(Actually, I am thinking about working on starting one somewhere else... True Story.)

Then, today, my friend Alissa posted pics of them in Chicago...

(One commenter called it " the bean" so I don't know.. maybe that is what it is called... )
Well, I have seen it in photos before.. and yep, I want to go there as well...

I would love to go to Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium.

I still want to see Carhenge...  Guess if I ever go to Nebraska, I will have to add that to my list....

I would love to drive the coast and see all the lighthouses...
You know, start in Florida and go all the way up to Maine...

Even taking a bit of extra time in Maine to take it all in.

I would have loved to have seen the Old Man of the Mountain in New Hampshire, but since it is no longer there, I will not be able to do so..

There is also that little boy that started his own arcade... Caine's Arcade...
Please tell me you have heard of it, if not.. PLEASE go visit the website and check it out...

If you know me at all, you know that I just love Ellen Degeneres.
When Marc was deployed, her show came on at 9 and then again at 10 am Monday - Friday...
I would watch at 9 (and normally again at 10)  If I was able to talk to Marc that time, I would have the skype camera on the television so he could see her as well.

Heck, Broxton fell in love with her from the start and remember when the saints won the superbowl and Ellen had the band come out playing "when the saints go marching in"  Yeah, Broxton was dancing up a storm to that one... and yes, Marc being from there, we had to show daddy.... again and again and again...
So... that whole paragraph leads to the fact that I would LOVE to go to a taping of the ellen show.
Yeah, it would be awesome to be there for one of her giveaway days...but honestly, just the chance to go to a taping would be pretty stinking cool!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Ellen.. and her pride in New Orleans..
It would be cool to take Marc and the boys to New Orleans... They have not all been there before and I know Marc wants to show them around his area... and of course, take them to an LSU game at Tiger Stadium...

So... that is the start to my Where in the World List...
I know there is more I want to add, but I just can not think of them....

Where in the World would YOU like to go?
Let me know, I might need to add it to my list!!!!!!!!!!!

Brain Strong Reformulated Their Gummies!!!!!!!!!!

(I could not take them, nor could Broxton because of the smell/taste...)
Well, get this.. We weren't the only ones!
They have released a "New Great Tasting Formula!"
Now, I would not say they are great tasting, as that is still for candy..

but, they are much improved!
Broxton can take them with no problem, as can I..

I thought that was pretty great!!!!
Just wanted to share the great news with you!
(Yes, they sent us the new flavored ones to see if we thought they were better.)

45 Minutes In and I was Crying : Machine Gun Preacher

We saw the previews for Machine Gun Preacher on another movie we watched and both Marc and I decided that we wanted to see this movie.  Lucky for us, we had the chance to review it and I thought it was good.  Well, it is hard to say "good" about something so sad...
You see, Machine Gun Preacher is about this "white" man that is pretty much a bad guy at the start of the movie... It starts with him getting out of jail.. Well, there is PLENTY of profanity and then he eventually finds Jesus.  Or rather, Jesus found him... That was a turning point in his life and he starts changing his ways...
He eventually ends up in Sudan and sees the bad things that are going on...
(If you have heard anything about KONY, this is it right here... )
Childers, the "white preacher" sets out to try and help the people of Sudan because of all he has seen while there ... and feels as though it is his calling...
As I said, it was a good movie.. but it breaks my heart, as it is based on a true story...
I will tell you, this is not a "family movie" as the language (and some scenes) are pretty graphic...
But, it is one that I recommend if you can handle it...

MACHINE GUN PREACHER is the inspirational true story of Childers (Butler), a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as the savior of hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children in East Africa. The explosive, real-life tale of a man who has rescued over a thousand orphans from starvation, disease, and enslavement,Machine Gun Preacher is written by Jason Keller (Relativity’s Mirror Mirror) and also stars Michelle Monaghan (Source Code), Golden Globe® winner Kathy Baker (Cold Mountain, Picket Fences), Madeline Carroll (Mr. Popper’s Penguins), Academy Award® nominated Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), and Souleymane Sy Savane (Damages). Producing is Forster, along with Relativity’s Robbie Brenner, Safady Entertainment’s Gary Safady and Craig Chapman, and GG Filmz’s Deborah Giarratana.
