When you think you are pregnant, you immediately rush to the store to purchase a home pregnancy test.  Well, at least that is what happens in our house when this happens.  I normally try and buy more than one, as I need to be 100 % sure in the outcome. There are many tests out there and you can pretty much buy them anywhere.  You want to make sure it is a name you can trust, so look for the pink and white box that says First Response on it.
When we first thought we were pregnant with Broxton, I don't know how many tests we took. They all said we were, but I needed to be sure.  I tell you, it is a bit awkward to use some of those things... Then, when Savannah came along, again, I needed to be sure..  We bought tests, took tests and then scheduled our appointment with the doctor to "officially" confirm that we were indeed pregnant. How emotional is that moment?  I know I was crying happy tears when I was pregnant and sad tears when I wasn't.  It is a life changing event and you want a name that has been around for some time.
While pregnancy warnings and advice has changed over the years, you need to know that pregnancy tests are changing as well!   They are trying to make the tests easier to use and read and of course, that makes it better for those of us taking the test!

With the First Response Pregnancy Test, you get their " Comfort Sure Design."
Do you know what that means?
*** Longer handle - I don't know about you, but that is a good thing in my book.  Not really wanting to take the test only to end up with pee on my own hand.  This helps to eliminate that issue.
*** 50% wider tip - Another positive in my book.  I was always so scared I would somehow or another miss that little area I was supposed to aim for, resulting in off results.
*** Cutting edge curved shape designed to fit a womans hand
*** FDA Approved
*** Designed to detect all forms of HGC throughout pregnancy
*** Detects pregnancy up to 6 days before your missed period
*** Easy to read results in 3 minutes with over 99% accuracy from the day of expected period
*** TWO PINK LINES = You Are Pregnant!
*** Test can be used at any time during the day - I really like this feature, as most say to use first thing in the morning, but you and I both know that you are dreading that wait until morning...   You want to know now and now you can!

Knowing you are pregnant is a great thing, as you can make sure you are taking the best care of your body for you and baby.  I know that with me, the sooner I knew, the better I was as far as nerves were concerned and for the health aspect of taking care of both of us!  The fact that you can purchase these basically anywhere (price ranges from $8.99 - $15.99) you can have a peace of mind early on.  Also, it is quite fun to take a picture of your result to send along to family and friends if you are ready to share the results early on.

Remember the brand, First Response...   They even have a link where you can click for a $2 off coupon on their website.    If you are trying to become pregnant, make sure you have a test to help you determine when it is a positive result!

Do you remember where you were (or who you were with) when you took your first test?

Broxton has been talking about the fact that he wants to go fishing.  I hate it for him, but I am just not one to go fishing, so that is going to have to wait. Lucky for him, we were sent a Little Tike Fish 'n Splash Water Table for review.  I know it says ages 2 and older, so it is a bit on the "baby side" but I will tell you this.. Give a kid some water to play with in the Georgia Summer and they will find a way to have fun!
The original plan was to take it to give to a friend of ours that has younger children, but Broxton wanted to at least try it out. He got out there and was laughing and giggling and having such a good time. His sweet self even started talking about how next year he was going to show Savannah how to fish. How could I say no to that??  I plan on letting him play in it for now, then putting it up after summer... It is easy to assemble, so it should not be a problem, then next year he can " teach his sister how to fish" and that will make for a good memory and cute pictures!
When it arrived, I made the comment that we were going to have to wait to put it together, I was just not feeling it... Of course, he kept asking about it, so I finally said okay. When we opened the box, I realized I could have let him play with it the day it was delivered... it was THAT EASY to put together!
Literally, there were just a few pieces: You have the base, the legs and then a couple pieces up top. Actually, Broxton was excited that it was so simple that he could put it together by himself! Of course, I had to make sure it was done correctly, but for the most part, he did it all.
Each of the pieces fits into one another.  There is no need for any tools.  You have one plastic screw to insert, but that is it, other than that, they all just slide and fit into each other forming a complete product at the end.  Broxton looked at the picture on the box, as he wanted to make sure it was done correctly, down to the fish being placed in the right spots as they were on the cover.
That was when we took it outside.
I wish I had pictures of him playing with it out there, but I am pretty sure there is at least one on
Instagram for you to see.

The Fish 'n Splash Water Table is great for a few different reasons.
I love it because it was easy to put together, but it is also awesome for play time!
You can totally use this as a learning tool!   You can tell them to fish and to pick a certain animal (turtle, Frog, crab or fish)  You could tell them to fish based on grabbing a certain color, or you can tell them to fish and find a certain number.  If you want to make it go further, do a math problem, tell them to fish to get the 2 animals that equal a certain number.  You know, how could you make the number 5 or something like that...
As I said, this is endless fun!  The Fish 'n Table comes with not only the animals to fish for, it also comes with a little  plastic "net", a  cup and a fishing pole.   The middle of the base has a lily pad that you can make spin by pouring water down the spout from the top.  Broxton had a great time playing with it and I know he will have more fun next summer teaching his sister how to use it!

Ever since we found out we were pregnant, Broxton has been concerned that the baby would not have enough toys to play with.  Every time he goes into a store, he wants to buy a toy of some sort for her.  We have been lucky to only have him buy her 2 at this time, but I know more are in store.
I learned with Broxton that there are many extra items that we purchased and did not need... Well, I don't want to make the same mistake this time around.  I want to purchase things that are beneficial.  One thing?  Beary Rumples from  Rumple Buddies.

Beary Rumples is just one of the products available from Rumple Buddies.  I love that they not only send you the Rumple Buddies toy, you also get a book to go along with it!
They also have Bunny Rumple, Kitty Rumple, Monkey Rumple and even Rider Rumple!

Rumple Buddies is a toy that stimulates the brain for kids.  It is red, black and white. (I learned from the past that the contrasting colors of black and white will help to grab the attention of the child)  It is super soft, so children will love it, but there is a twist... It is filled with crinkle paper inside it, so as the baby plays with it, it makes the crinkling sound that will make them want to continue to explore.
Click on over to their site to see the research that they have online to see why you need to purchase one today!

Broxton was very excited that we had a really neat toy for Savannah to play with.  I was happy that it was one that would be fun for her to play with and add for more than just a random toy to sit in the corner, it will have endless hours of fun for her to play and explore!

Dive Into Curious Critters Marine in the Third Installment from #DavidFitzsimmons

We have been lucky enough to review Curious Critters Volume One and Curious Critters Volume Two in the past....  Now, we have the third volume, Curious Critters Marine by David FitzSimmons.
Broxton was excited to get this book and I absolutely love all of the photos throughout the book!
Read more about it:
FitzSimmons is at the forefront of environmental education. He produces exquisitely-detailed, up-close photography of amazing animals that inhabit the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Through stunning photography, children go face-to-face with animals ranging from a spectacular spoonbill to an incredible blue lobster, from a tufted puffin to an upside-down jellyfish, and from a baby sea turtle to a giant Pacific octopus.
Adding to the fun photography is playful prose accompanying each critter. As the animals posed for portraits, David imagined them talking to him. Then he wrote down what they had to say.
The cushion sea star, for example, serenades readers with stanzas set to “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”
Look at me, a bright sea star,
out beyond the big sand bar.
Crawling in the shallow sea,
tiny tube feet carry me
out to join a galaxy
of sea stars that look like me.
A crabby calico crab bemoans his thankless role as a detritivore: “I’m the one down here devouring loads of decaying debris, and nobody applauds my efforts. Without recyclers like me, can you imagine what the ocean would look like? Why, we’d be wallowing in whale waste and covered in crumbling kelp.”

With mesmerizing images and inviting prose, Curious Critters Marine is sure to whet the appetite of young children wishing to know more about North America’s salty waters. Additional material in the back of the book includes a Life-Size Silhouettes page, a Glossary, and a Natural History page, where readers learn that Atlantic horseshoe crabs have blue blood, that tufted puffins may carry up to sixty fish in their beaks at once, and that California sea cucumbers eat with their mouths and their rear ends!

Doesn't this sound great for kids of all ages????

As far as I know, I had never seen an episode of Reading Rainbow, until we received a review copy. Broxton knew the book "If you give a Mouse a Cookie" so I thought he was going to enjoy it. Little did I know that this was going to start the whole DVD off with showing us how to make bowling balls (so we were both interested in watching it!  He even quit playing with his toys to come sit and give his whole undivided attention!)
The four episodes / books included on this DVD are as follows:
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” – Reader: Beth Howland
One thing leads to another in this episode, with LeVar in a bowling alley, showing how certain actions lead to consequences. Included is a piece on an expert at domino displays and domino art. Beth Howland reads “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” the tale of a little boy who offers a cookie to a mouse, and all the events that occur afterwards as a result.
Owen” – Reader: Matthew Broderick
It’s easy to get flashbacks while watching READING RAINBOW. Now it’s LeVar’s turn, as he gets in touch with visions of “his boyhood.” Matthew Broderick reads “Owen,” about a little mouse who’s very attached to his security blanket and doesn’t want to give it up, even if it means he will be teased when he starts school.
Two Old Potatoes and Me” – Reader: Jordan Puryear
Jordan Puryear reads “Two Old Potatoes and Me,” about a girl who works with her father to recycle two old potatoes by replanting them using the sprouts to grow a whole new crop of potatoes. LeVar, working with his daughter, is inspired to make a potato dish from a recipe in the book.
Mr. George Baker” – Reader: Wayne Brady
Wayne Brady narrates the story of an elderly man who decides to go back to school to learn to read, even though he is almost 100, and his relationship with his young neighbor as they wait for the bus every day.
You all know how much we love to read here, so if we can continue to grow our love of books by watching a DVD from time to time, then watching this DVD is a great way to explore even more books!  Are you familiar with Reading Rainbow?  Let me know!!
