Friday Feast ( #Linky) Parmesan Baked Pork Chops

Well, it is Friday again!
This time next week, I will have a 6 year old!!!!   Where does the time go??
Since it is Friday Feast, I thought I would share a recipe that Broxton loves (Marc and I do as well!)
Also, a picture of my sweet boy with a "Birthday Milkshake"  guess we are celebrating all week!
 Parmesan Baked Pork Chops
4 boneless pork chops
1 T. olive oil
1 C. parmesan cheese
1 C. Italian bread crumbs
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
On a plate combine the last 4 ingredients. Rub the pork chops with olive oil and then dip (coat) each one in the cheese mixture. Press the mixture over the pork chops to make sure they are well covered in it. Line a pan with tin foil and spray with cooking spray. Place the pork chops on the pan and bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
This works best if you flip 1/2 way through, or bake on a rack in the pan, so both sides are crispy.

Let me know if you have tried this before.  We enjoy it!
Also, sure would love to have you link up!
Happy Valentines!

I love chocolate and never need an excuse to enjoy it.   Having said that, I do not only give Broxton chocolate for Valentines, I also love giving him books (as I normally do for every holiday, books are great!)  I was excited when Disney sent us a couple Valentine themed books this year, as I know we are going to enjoy them!

If you have a young girl in the house that watches Disney, you might be familiar with Liv and Maddie... It is one of the hit Disney Channel shows right now.  I have seen it before, just because the TV has been on in the background, but it isn't one that Broxton watches.  I love seeing the kids in Broxton's school walking around with their reading books and I know that I will be seeing this one soon!   It is a book from the show and it even includes photos from the show as well!   What a great way to get kids more involved in reading and spending less time watching TV!
Ages 9-12
It’s a wrap on Liv’s hit TV show, Sing It Loud!-and her sporty twin, Maddie, is so excited to have her back home! But when Liv tries to play matchmaker for Maddie, her grand plan falls flat! Has Liv ruined Maddie’s chances with her crush forever? Then, when Maddie is voted basketball team captain, she will need to gain the respect of her teammates-with a little help from Liv! Will this be Liv’s most dazzling role yet? Or will her plan lose its sparkle? This hilarious junior novel has an eight-page full-color insert of photos from the show.

I don't remember my first experience with Build-A-Bear, but I know I loved it... I do remember Broxton's first time there and I will always remember the excitement on his face.  When he was a baby, we were sent a couple Build-A-Bear items for Christmas and each year we proudly display them in our home.   From the Build-A-Bear items to the experience of visiting a location, Build-A-Bear takes pride in their company and in what they produce!    I just hate that I have never really thought about getting a Valentines gift from them, until now!!!  I was lucky enough to be contacted about getting to host a giveaway for one of you lucky readers to win a cute animal!  (It will not arrive in time for Valentines, but when is love ever out of season?!)
I thought this little monkey was so super cute.

Having once owned a dalmation, they always hold a special place in my heart!

This little bear is just too adorable!

Share Your Heart and Donate to Make-A-Wish this Valentine’s Day!
Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest and most sharing times of the year at Build-A-Bear Workshop, so it is the perfect opportunity to ‘share your heart’ to help Make-A-Wish create special days for the children who need them most.  From now through March 31, 2015, guests visiting any Build-A-Bear store who make a donation of $1.00 or more can have the opportunity to purchase a satin heart to benefit Make-A-Wish. Each time guests make a donation, they will be asked to sign a Valentine greeting for a child in a local hospital.  One-hundred percent of the donations and funds from satin hearts collected will benefit Make-A-Wish.  Last year, Build-A-Bear Workshop donated more than $440,000 to Make-A-Wish through the Share Your Heart partnership.  A wish-come-true empowers children with life-threatening medical conditions to fight harder against their illness.  You can help Build-A-Bear make more life-changing wishes possible!  For more information, visit: www.buildabear.com/wish

Sour Little What?????????

A while back, Broxton spotted this candy at the store.  He was adamant he wanted them.  He did not get them that day, but it was funny to hear him talk about it.  He kept asking me to please go and buy him some " sour little humans."  I thought it was a bit creepy, but I also thought it was sort of funny!  Of course, he ended up getting them and I wish I could share the faces he made as he was eating them!
What is a funny word or phrase of a snack for your kid(s)?

There is no hiding that we normally always have the tv on at our house.  Not that we are watching it, but just for noise.  It has been that way as long as I can remember and I guess some things will never change.  Since we have that background noise, we learn of new shows from time to time... One show being the latest "Blaze and the Monster Machines" Broxton LOVES it and I thought it was pretty neat that it was discussing the whole "STEM" education (that we just recently learned about with him being in school - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)  Broxton really gets into watching this show and I can not wait to surprise him with the latest --- a Mini-Movie!   Nickelodeon is also releasing a new Max and Ruby DVD.  We have never got into this show before and I honestly don't know if we have ever even watched an episode.  (Although I have heard great things, just can't personally give my opinion!)  Both of these DVD's will be available February 17th, perfect for any Easter Baskets you might be working on!
The Max & Ruby: Sweet Siblings DVD includes the following episodes:·       “Max Says Hello” - Ruby needs to prepare her tea party, but Max is too busy saying "hello" to all his toys to help out.
·       “Ruby’s Spa Day” - Ruby and Louise try to have a relaxing spa day but Max insists upon playing his noisy new drum.
·       “Ruby’s Tai Chi” - Max’s toys interfere with Ruby and her friends practicing their Tai Chi routine
·       “Engineer Max” - Ruby wants to get Max to Grandma’s house for a special surprise, but Max just wants to ride on the toy train at the store.
·       “Max’s Toy Train” - Ruby wants to get ready for a sleepover at Grandma’s, but Max just wants to play with his new train.
·       “Max’s Train Ride” - Ruby wants to have a very special dolly tea party with Grandma, but Max wants to go for a train ride.
·       “Max and Ruby’s Train Trip” - Max can’t wait to ride on a train, but Ruby knows you have to get on the right train at the right time.
·       “Go To Sleep Max” - Ruby wants to go to sleep in their sleeper car. But Max just wants to stay up.
·       “Conductor Max” - Ruby wants to give Aunt Claire and Uncle Nate a card, but Max is intrigued with the conductor’s hat.
·       “Space Bunny” - Ruby wants to make a scrapbook for Grandma while Max is acting out the adventures of “Space Bunny!”
·       “Max’s Sprinkler” - Ruby wants to have a perfect Summer Fashion Party, but Max is intent on playing with the sprinkler.
·       “Max’s Pogo Stick” - Ruby wants to surprise Grandma by planting daisies in her garden, while Max is trying to learn how to hop on a pogo stick.
About Blaze and The Monster MachinesIn Blaze and the Monster Machines, monster truck Blaze and his driver AJ have adventures that explore the physics of how things move; tackle problems through scientific inquiry and mathematics; and discover the parts needed to make everyday technologies work.   Each action-packed episode is filled with monster trucks, physical humor and upbeat original songs with lyrics that highlight a STEM concept such as adhesion, friction, force, trajectory and magnetism..
Blaze and the Monster Machines: Blaze of Glory DVD includes:
“Blaze of Glory” –  - Blaze and AJ are introduced to a world of racing monster machines in the town of Axle City.  When Crusher, a troublemaker truck, uses his dirty tricks to try to win the championship race, Blaze does everything he can to help his friends and beat him to the finish line.

Do you guys have a Del Taco near you?
I was not familiar with Del Taco until Marc passed one and immediately had to turn around for us to go and try it out. Come to find out, he was familiar with Del Taco and LOVED IT!   I wasn't sure, until we walked in and I could see why he enjoyed it.  It was all fresh food and at a great price.  The presentation of the food was like they cared, not just any other fast food location.
We have been a few times, but since there isn't one right down the road, the visits aren't as often as we would like.  We have been lucky to have one open up closer than the previous location, so that does help, but it doesn't help to get their emails with the great specials and start craving the food, not sure if we are headed that way or not!
We were sent an email talking about the new menu ---  they were offering JENNIE - O seasoned ground turkey as a meat option.  I knew I wanted to try it out, because Marc LOVES meat. (Has to have it at every meal.)  I wanted to see if he would notice a difference and lucky for us, we were sent a couple gift cards to check it out.
For the record, he could not tell what was turkey and what was ground beef!  We actually picked up several different menu items and tried a little of this and a little of that... From ground beef to turkey, grilled chicken to French fries!  We LOVED it!!!!

Del Taco’s turkey menu features the following items (price and participation may vary):

·         Turkey CrunchTada Tostada: a thick, wavy, crunchy corn shell layered with slow-cooked beans made from scratch, our signature tangy taco sauce, lean, seasoned ground turkey, crisp lettuce, and freshly hand-grated cheddar cheese
·         Deluxe Turkey Taco Salad: lean, seasoned ground turkey, with slow-cooked beans made from scratch, crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes, hand-grated cheddar cheese, cool sour cream, tangy guacamole, and mild taco sauce, served in a crunchy tortilla bowl

Del Taco’s Seafood Offerings:
·         NEW Epic Crispy Shrimp Burrito: loaded with crispy golden shrimp, fresca lime rice, tangy green sauce, fresh cabbage, Del Taco’s secret sauce, freshly chopped pico de gallo salsa and creamy guacamole, wrapped in an oversized flour tortilla
·         NEW Guacamole Fish Taco: hand-cut Alaskan Pollock fillet in a crispy beer batter, salsa casera, guacamole, fresh cabbage and cilantro, wrapped in two warm corn tortillas and served with a fresh cut lime wedge
·         Crispy Shrimp Taco: crispy golden shrimp, fresh cabbage, freshly chopped pico de gallo salsa and Del Taco’s secret sauce, wrapped in a flour tortilla and served with a fresh cut lime wedge
·         Beer Battered Fish Taco: hand-cut Alaskan Pollock fillet in a crispy beer batter, fresh cabbage, Del Taco’s secret sauce and hand-made pico de gallo salsa, wrapped in two warm corn tortillas and served with a fresh cut lime wedge

Now, I see that they have the Crispy Shrimp Tacos and Burrito's...  Yeah, better believe I want one (or a couple, no need to judge!)  I know that we will be going to get some soon, they are back by popular demand, so no telling how long they will be there!   Let me know if you have eaten at a Del Taco before.  If so, what is your favorite menu item???

Growing up, we had different reading programs through the library (and school to, I think.)  I was so excited to see that Broxton's school has a "Book It" program that rewards kids for reading.  I hate to think that kids aren't reading, but at least this way, I know some are.  Broxton has to read every day for part of his homework, so I love all of the books that we are sent.   Today, I want to share a few more from Disney Publishing.

Minnie - A Walk in the Park
In this book, we get a Pre-1 Level, which means it has simple words and very few sentences per page.  We get to go with Minnie, Daisy and the twins as they take a few dogs on a walk in the park.  Read the book to see what adventures we get to go on, as we know a simple walk in the park is not possible with this crew!
Palace Pets - Berry, The Bunny for Snow White
This book is one of the Palace Pets collection, which means we get to meet Snow White's bunny, Berry. It also has the little carry handles that makes it a great gift for kids of all ages!   In Berry, we get to see Berry as she travels through the woods to make a very special gift.  Read the book to see what the end result is!

Henry Hugglemonster - Daddo In Charge
Henry Hugglemonster shows that although Daddo is in charge, things might not run as smooth as they normally do. Mom left a list, but Hugglemonsters don't need lists!   Flip through this touch and feel book to see what all messes await on this weekend adventure!

These are all so cute and would be perfect for any Valentines basket you might be making to give a young reader you know and love !

Disney Junior always seems to have so many cute shows going on.  We don't watch that much at home, but when we go to visit my family, that is normally a channel we end up having on the TV. I think that is how we first learned about our first book, Sheriff Callie's Wild West.  This show follows a cute little cat named Callie and in the book we were sent, I was able to learn how she became SHERIFF Callie!
In The Cat who Tamed The West, we meet Callie and her horse, Sparky.  They are out for an afternoon ride and after some time, they worked up quite a thirst and ended up in a town called Mean and Messy Corners!  As Callie is in the town trying to get something to drink, she encounters several bandits that are there to cause trouble and put fear in the townspeople. Read this book to see how Callie handles the situation and is eventually asked to be their Sheriff!
This is a hard covered book, geared for ages 3-5.
With the pink spine, I thought Broxton would be a "NO- GO" on wanting to read this, but as soon as he saw it was "Sheriff Callie!"  he was excited to sit and listen as we read a book together!
I have never heard of the characters in the next book we were sent.  Ewe and Aye is the name is working together to do things is the game.  It seems that Ewe liked wings and Aye likes wings.  Well, their different contraptions never seem to work... but then, Ewe and Aye decided to try and work together... They say 2 is better than 1 and that proves to be the case this time around!
This is another hard covered book, also for the 3-5 age range.
I thought it was cute, but I would say more of the younger kids would be interested in this one. Broxton sat there for me to read it, but there was really no interaction or discussion about it, so I don't think it is one he will ask to read again.

I think that the book I just read is absolutely adorable!  It is Princess Patty Meets Her Match and in it, we meet Princess Patty.  She is a young princess that is already wanting her prince to arrive.  Giving up on him coming to her, she sets out on foot (with a sparkly bag full of her necessities and her pet goldfish as well)  to see where her prince might be.  It was cute as she travels to find HER prince and each prince is part of a all the magical princess stories!  One prince tries to put a glass slipper on her foot.  Another is waiting for her to fall asleep after eating an apple and she even catches one putting peas under the bed!
I thought this was a cute new version to introduce a princess to us!  I know everyone will love this!  With the age range being 3-5, you need to find out if Princess Patty ever finds her Prince!
