Just last week, we were invited to go check out Big Hero 6 for an advance screening.  Of course, Broxton was thrilled to see it and it was the night there wasn't school the next day, so we went for it!  As I have stated before, I don't really pay much attention to the synopsis on many movies, I just go based on the actors in the movie... if it is a Disney movie, I am almost always going to say yes!
We got there and the place was packed!  For advance screenings, it is always a hit or miss on the crowd, but this night was packed way before the show started!   Broxton was excited to see it and of course we were lucky enough to see it in 3D.  That was an added plus!
The movie was a good one, true to Disney stories, it was a great story line and the animation was fantastic.  I will say that this movie is not geared towards one gender or another, as the main cast was both male and female.  Of course, the "main character" was a boy, but the other main character was a robot, so what does that tell you?  It was a sad one, I will tell you that!   I thought I felt a trickle of tears teasing me to stream down my face at one point, then I heard the little girl behind me crying --- like full out "Notebook" crying and I started thinking about how I normally sound in a theater and the tears snuck their way back up to my eyes!
What exactly is Big Hero 6?
It is a movie about a boy, a robot and a team of "nerds."  The movie takes place in San Fransokyo. (A mix of San Francisco and Tokyo)  Hiro's big brother makes a robot (Baymax) that is going to help heal those that are sick.  Think of a Robot nurse type.  Well,  in learning the ways of life, Hiro and Baymax, along with the "nerds" learn more about friendship and become the HERO they all are inside.  They have to solve a mystery that is near and dear to them all.
It really was a great movie that was not only full of excitement from the start, but it also was a tearjerker that makes you proud of how people can turn out to be!  ( It was a hit for the 5 year old, the 18 year old and even the adults - but, I am not disclosing my age!)
If you plan on going to see it, make sure you get there early...
The little "short" before the movie, called FEAST, was a super sweet one that had everyone in the theater saying "AWE!"

The older kids get, the more expensive their wish list gets... At least that is how it seems in our house.  Not only as far as their wish list, but just in general... Clothes cost more.  Food Costs more.  Events cost more.  See what I mean?  I got to thinking about how my life with Broxton is all about "making memories."  I was thinking about how gift giving at Christmas shouldn't be all about the physical gifts that are under the tree, but more about the memories.  *NO WORRIES, we will still have presents...  Just go with me here a minute.   I saw somewhere on line about "thinking outside the box when it comes to gifts for kids...
Some had great ideas as to money towards sports they want to play.  (Like paying the registration fee for a sport or something.)  Others thought about passes to local attractions like the Zoo or something..  We recently went to an indoor AWESOME place and I immediately had to see if we could work together in a review to share with you ... as I know this would be a great gift and talk about making memories!
What is this Magical Place?  Well, it is called SKYZONE and I am pretty sure there is one somewhat near you, or at least in the works.  It seems they are growing far and wide! (Head over to click on their locations to see what is near you!)
When I went to go for a review, I took one of the older boys with me. I knew that B had a blast, but I wanted the opinion of a teenager.  He loved it!  I did not participate... Since having Broxton (yes, over 5 years ago, but still...) the whole riding rides/ bouncing on things makes me sick... Car sick happens more often now too!

The one area he kept having to go back to ?  The basketball area.  They have 3 different hoops at 3 different heights.  Both boys loved it and it was fun watching them playing.
Another big hit?  The family dodgeball area.  It was a slow day when we were there, so both of them got to play together... I think they normally divide it up based on age, but it was nice to let them play at the same time and have fun.  What was REALLY awesome was when the older guys got in there -- they were having a BLAST throwing the balls and trying to peg one another.  I don't know who they were or how old they were, but when they were in there, it was like they were kids again!  (I would guess they were probably mid-late 20's.)
The foam pit seems to have a love - hate relationship with everyone that went in there.  They said it was a blast jumping and landing in there -- but then the climbing out was hard and a pain.  R even worked up a sweat getting out of there and warned some of the other adults about it.  Of course that is like telling a sweets lover not to look at the candy store, so they would eventually walk back, laughing.. talking about it was awesome going in, but torture coming out!  The workers said the lighter you are, the easier it is to get out, since you sort of land "ON" the foam, but the heavier you are, you sort of sink into it and have to climb your way out!
The main part you enter is the free jump area... Lots and lots of individual trampolines... as well as trampolines on the wall.  Each person has their own area, no 2 people are allowed into the same square at the same time.
Of course, once you have been jumping for a bit, you get a little tired, this was actually when he tried to do a jump or something and just decided to lay there for a second to catch his breath to go again! We were only there for an hour, but both boys were worn out once we left!  I would say it was a major success!
Skyzone is for "kids" of all ages.  If you can walk, you can jump!  The weight limit goes up to 300 pounds, so don't think this is a kid only event!  Our location actually has dodge-ball tournaments each week.   They said they have great turnouts, so that is awesome.

As I said, I think that this would be a great gift.  You could give each person a pair of SkyZone socks (in their gift)  since each person has to have the official sky zone socks to jump.  Then, you could give them jump passes.  Plan a day when you all can go together. You will be doing more than just giving them a gift.  They will be getting fun, exercise and great memories!
This would be a great gift idea for several occasions:
Girls Night
Guys Night
Highschool friends home from college on break
Family fun
Birthday Party

Lucky for those that live near Kennesaw, Georgia.

There is no denying that we love Frozen in this house... I love the story (and music) and Broxton loves Olaf.  It works out great for us and we need to actually watch the movie again soon, I am missing singing along! We have been lucky to have had the chance to read several of the Disney Line of Frozen Books and they just keep releasing them!  I love it though, what better way to get a child interested in reading than to write about something they enjoy????   One of the latest books from Disney Frozen?  Elsa's Gift .
This is a great book!   In this book, Arendelle is celebrating winter --- but it is because that is the season, not because of Queen Elsa.  (Meaning, this takes place AFTER the movie!)
We see Anna, Elsa and even Kristoff!  Of course, Broxton kept asking when Olaf was going to be there and as soon as he saw him, he was happy and all was right again ;)
This book has Queen Elsa and Princess Anna planning a Winter Ball.  Do you know what the gift is that Elsa has planned?  You need to read the book to find out!
I will tell you this, life is not all about material things...  the time spent with one another is a perfect gift too!  Even Kristoff says that Anna would probably like to just "spend time with her big sister."  Talk about "Making Memories!"  Super cute book with the graphics that we love from Disney!
This book is targeted for ages 6-8, but I think it would be great for the younger ones... The cover is a hard cover with thick pages throughout. Think board book but NOT for babies!  The purchase of this book includes a Mobile App for iPhone and iPads.

With the holidays sneaking up on us, you might be trying to come up with THE PERFECT GIFT for the ones you love... Sometimes we put too much thought into it when it is really staring us in the face the whole time. I was excited to get a new book to review that does just that...  Love Monster and the Perfect Present by Rachel Bright.  In this new book, The Love Monster lives in Cutesville and a big day is coming up... It is a SPECIAL DAY like no other... Do you know what day that is?  It is PRESENT DAY!   It is THE day to give the BEST gift ever to the one you love... The only problem is that The Love Monster can not think of the best gift...
This book is super cute and I love the ending.. I can't tell you what it is, you have to read it for yourself...  But, I will tell you this - it is a great one!   It tells you that the gift from the heart is the most important one of all!   We had a great time talking about the best gifts are the ones that are most special... it doesn't have to be a shiny new toy or anything, as long as it is from the heart, it is special!

Now, you tell me... What is a great "from the heart" gift you received before?  For me, it is any of the artwork Broxton has done at school... Talk about from the heart!

TOY STORY 4 --- Looking like June of 2017

*** This is not a sponsored post... Just pretty exciting news!
Got this email and wanted to share!

Director John Lasseter works with members of his story team on Disney•Pixar's "Toy Story 4," a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the "Toy Story" gang. The film is slated for release on June 16, 2017. (Photo by Deborah Coleman / Pixar)

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!

Nearly two decades after Pixar Animation Studios created the world’s first computer-animated feature film with “Toy Story,” it revealed plans for Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” an adventure that returns audiences to the world of the studio’s signature characters.

John Lasseter, director of the original “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” will direct the film, which opens a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the “Toy Story” gang. The story was dreamt up by Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich, the storytellers who have been the driving force behind all three “Toy Story” films.

“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said Lasseter. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. ‘Toy Story 3’ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”

Writing team Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (“Celeste and Jesse Forever”) joined the project, and Pixar veteran Galyn Susman (ABC’s “Toy Story OF TERROR!” and “Toy Story that Time Forgot”) is producing.

The film is slated for release on June 16, 2017.

Broxton is at the age where he loves music now... He is always singing and dancing at home and it makes me happy.  I know part of it is because he is getting older, but the other part is because his teacher last year used to have "Dance Party Friday" where they would get to listen to a song or two and dance around the classroom. I loved it and he looked forward to it each week!  If you are looking to have a Christmas party this year (or any kind of party where there will be music, look at the Kidz Bop CD's.  They are songs sung BY kids... and are all clean... so no worries on profanity!)

Carving Pumpkins and #MakingMemories - That is what it is all about!

I thought it would be nice to post a few pictures from what has been going on around here lately...
Between volunteering at the school and then home life, it is busy busy, but I would not trade it for the world!  I was looking back at some of the photo's of the last few months and this cracked me up...
I am not sure if I ever admitted my secret... so I am going to tell you now...
You have to promise not to tell anyone, it will be just between us, okay?
The secret?
My husband has a secret hidden talent...
He LOVES carving pumpkins and he is really good at it!

So, once it gets close to halloween, we go get a pumpkin...
He looks and looks and finds the perfect one for what he has in mind...
Then, we get home and he gets to working...
Same thing each year, Broxton wants to help.. but he is for real serious about this....
So... This year, I went back to the store and bought pumpkins for Broxton and the big brother...
B watching daddy carve the pumpkin.

R and daddy working on their pumpkins...
As I was walking around the yard, I saw a beautiful *yet tattered* butterfly.  It was just sitting there waiting and did not fly off.... Of course I did not bother it, but I did take a picture of it... The tattered wing made me sad and wondered what had happened to it... but the beauty of it all made me smile.
 The end results...
Daddy went with a pumpkin witch lady face (Wish I would have taken a better picture of it) , B went with the traditional jack-o-lantern face (that I just noticed has NO NOSE)  and R went with the sick pumpkin. *** Side note, I did that exact pumpkin YEARS ago when I worked at a bar and we had pumpkins around for decoration!
I think they turned out great, but it was too hot and they quickly deteriorated.  We had to throw them away before Halloween.  They were cute while they were up there though!   Better than that, the memories they made making their pumpkins was worth it all!

Do you get into carving pumpkins for Halloween?  If so, what did yours look like?

Every day at Broxton's school they have snack time in the morning.  I am not sure the time, but I know they get to school way to early for me... and then at some point they have snack... The thing is, I bought him all sorts of snacks for school, but then we got a note sent home saying that they were going to ask all parents to send in snacks for the whole class.  That was fine with me, especially since the teacher listed what was best NOT to send in. While I may worry what some parents might send their kids, I knew with it being for the whole class,  I was safe!  What made it more exciting was when I received a box of goodies at home...  I was getting Funny Face Cranberries to send in for the class.  I knew it was going to be something different and truth be told, I wanted to hear if the kids liked them or not...  We all know kids at that age are very honest and I was eager to hear what his friends all thought.
I sent them in (side note, don't you just love the lunch bag they sent that Broxton gets to take to school now?)  and waited to hear...  I personally am not a fan of cranberries (Marc LOVES them and Broxton likes the Funny Face ones)  so when I heard back from the teacher, I was thrilled!  17 kids liked them... 7 didn't!   Sounds like a win for me!
(Let's also keep in mind that I was there the other day to help with their fall centers day and was working with 100 kindergartners... that day I learned that candy corn is not a favorite of everyone... neither are raisins and surprisingly pretzel sticks weren't a big hit!  So to hear that 2/3 of his class enjoyed the funny face cranberries... that made me make a happy face!)
Funny Face Cranberries are not just "cranberries" they are flavored cranberries that are packaged in several different ways.  You can get individual boxes *seen above* or bigger bags for family.
Please click over to the Funny Face Cranberry Site to learn more about them.
They even have several great recipes for you to try.  Since it is almost Thanksgiving, I decided to share the recipe for Choo Choo Cherry's Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce...

Ingredients
• 1 1/2 cups Choo Choo Cherry Dried Cranberries
• 3/4 cup cranberry juice
• 1/4 tbs salt
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 2 tbs cornstarch
• 4 tbs water

Directions
• Combine dried cranberries, juice, salt and sugar in saucepan
• Bring mixture to gentle boil
• When cranberries plump up, add cornstarch and water
• Simmer until sauce has thick consistancy
• Let the sauce cool and enjoy with your favorite Thanksgiving dish!
• To add some extra FUN to this recipe, try pumping up the
flavor with lemon or orange zest!

Coughing.  Sneezing. Snot.  Yep, we have all been there and with the weather changing on us... That means more is headed our way.  At least with us... and I believe it will be more so now that he is in school.  It seems like every day I go to his school there are kids everywhere just coughing and hacking up... Everywhere...
I do have tissues handy, but the cool thing is when I have Boogie Wipes.
They are "special" tissues that are perfect for Broxton. When they are around, I admit that I use them too... It is just something about a nice SOFT, moist tissue to clean my nose.. Especially when it is raw from being wiped 7 million times!   Another great thing? They help to clean up their face if they have a messy one (or if it has dried up from being at school all day.)
Boogie Wipes has plenty to make sure your little noses are well taken care of!
Boogie Wipes come in 3 different scents:  fresh, grape or unscented.
Boogie Wipes has also released a new product - BLASTERS and that comes in boogieberry scent.  To round out all that Boogie Wipes offers, they also have the Boogie Mist (fresh, grape or unscented are the available scents for the saline spray.)
If you are a parent or grandparent that likes to send in goodies for your kids class... Think about sending in a canister of Boogie Wipes to help out with flu season.  Also, if you want to learn a few "booger facts" make sure you check out the 10 fun facts they have listed on their site! With Boogie Wipes we can all hope to make the most out of the colds that come our way this season!

I am all about books that will help with discussing bullying.  I try and talk to Broxton about bullying, but sometimes it is easier to explain and talk about it with a book to read and look at.  That was the case in the book we were recently sent for review.
The Bully and the Shrimp was a great book.  It is more than just name calling.
In this book, we meet Connor and Noah. Noah recently moved to a new school -- so he knows no one.  He has to make new friends and doesn't have any of his familiar surroundings to help him deal with things.  The only thing he does have is his trusty journal that he draws in.
On the FIRST day of school for him at the new school Noah meets a kid that he tries to be nice to... but come to find out, he is the class bully!   Besides name calling, he does other mean things to him - EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.
I feel bad for him and used this as a time to talk to Broxton about talking to a parent or teacher if this were to ever happen to him. The end of the book has a couple tips to help caregivers deal with discussing bullies.
We really enjoyed the book and the bring and creative drawings in Noah's journal was an added bonus!
Make sure you grab this book to add to your personal library!

Does anyone else have a hard time in sending lunch to school each day?  Broxton is so up in the air on his likes and dislikes, each day it seems to change!  The one thing he luckily still enjoys?  Fruit.  When he was just a little one, he would enjoy sharing a fruit cup with my dad at lunch whenever we were back home... Then, it carried over into school years!  (My dad will still surprise him and buy a pack or two of fruit cups for him to bring home if we go visit and he happens to go grocery shopping before we leave.)  We love them and when Dole announced they were releasing new fruit cups that were NO SUGAR ADDED, that just sweetened the deal!  (Pun intended!)

Recently introduced by the #1 brand in single serve cups, DOLE No Sugar Added Fruit Bowls contain all-natural Dole Fruit packed in water and sweetened with monk fruit. Available in two varieties, Diced Peaches and Mandarin Oranges, with Pineapple coming soon, each bowl is just 40 calories or less! The grab-and-go bowls make them a great on-the-go healthy snack

Knowing how much Broxton loves these, they seem to always make their way into his lunch. The days they don't, he normally asks for them as an after school snack.  I am happy to say that as much as he loves sweets and candy, he will eat this and be just as happy!   Not to mention the NO SUGAR ADDED makes me feel okay stocking up on these all the time.  The best part?  Even Marc enjoys them...
I saw on pinterest where a parent drew on the lids before putting them in the lunch.  I wish I was that creative, but the great thing is that I can leave a short note or even just a heart on there to let Broxton know I am thinking about him!
With the holidays coming up, this would be great to keep in the pantry in case you have last minute guests that might have someone that would love a quick and easy snack!  (Kid approved here!)

Know what is going under our tree this year?  Just the newest Paw Patrol DVD for Broxton.  I tell you what, his "likes and dislikes" change more than a teenage girl some days!  He used to be totally obsessed with this show and then decided he was to grown to watch it. (Welcome to Kindergarten, the things you can like change DRASTICALLY.)  We had a big talk about liking what he wants to like and not changing his opinion for anyone.  If they are going to be his friend, it will be for who HE IS -- not who HE CHANGES to be.
So - Paw Patrol was put on the back burner for a bit... but then out of nowhere, he tells me he really wants to watch Paw Patrol... You know, since "You have not let me watch it in like 7 hundred million years!"  Do you know how happy that made me?  I have not hid the fact that I love this show.  The lessons they teach, the fact that the dogs are so cute...    Yep. So he is back into loving it again and I can watch with him!

Prepare for an icy adventure this holiday season! The PAW Patrol pups are back for 7 wintery missions that include a double-length adventure to save Christmas in this new DVD set. From a ski-lift rescue to tracking down a snow monster, no job is too big and no pup is too small. Plus, see how Rubble first joined the team by helping out in a snowy situation! Full of festive fun that fans won’t want to miss out on, this DVD set makes the perfect holiday gift for fans.  Produced by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution in the US.

Beethoven!!!!!!!!!!!

Beethoven, no... I am not talking music... I am talking about that lovable, slobbering St. Bernard...   Well, he is out with a new movie and I was excited to get it to watch with Broxton.  Through the years, I have seen my fair share of Beethoven, since my kid brother LOVED watching it and of course I had to share it with Broxton. Truth be told, I think we have the original Beethoven on VHS somewhere...   When I say "Love" it is not an understatement.  The last Beethoven to come out is called Beethoven's Treasure Tail.  It follows Beethoven now that he is a famous dog.  As with other Beethoven movies, we had quite a good bit of laughter watching all that goes on each day!
Synopsis:
Get ready to howl with laughter in this all-new family comedy starring America’s favorite St. Bernard, the one and only Beethoven! After a doggone disaster of a movie shoot, the big-hearted pooch and his trainer, Eddie (Jonathan Silverman, Beethoven’s Big Break), are heading home when they get stranded in a small coastal village. When Beethoven befriends a local boy (Bretton Manley, Ted), he helps him find a pirate map to lost treasure and together they em-bark on an adventure that brings the whole town together. Co-starring Morgan Fairchild (Flamingo Road), Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), it’s a heartwarming “tail” about finding fun wherever your nose leads you.
