It looks like I might be pretty much done with all of my Christmas Shopping this year!  I still need to figure out what to get my grandparents, as they are so hard to buy for... but everyone else is pretty much done...   Luckily for me with Broxton, he is getting plenty of toys!!!

The latest sent here for review?
A couple of awesome products from Zing Toys!!!!

Up first : The Zoom Zooka.
This is pretty awesome and it is so much more than just one toy.
(You know how I love when you get your money's worth!!!)
This is "Kid Powered"  so you don't need to worry about batteries or anything like that... All you need is the product and the kid!!    Also, it comes with a plane, rockets and darts!  The best thing about it (to me) is that you can use it to shoot the different items I mentioned.. but you can also use it to shoot water!  Yes, you read that right!!!  You can use it during the summer as a water gun as well... but then you can use it indoors/outdoors to shoot the plane, rockets and darts!

The other product that we were sent?  The Zoom Rocketz!!!
Like the Zoom Zooka, it is also "kid powered!"
I am loving this company because of that... Not only do you have to worry about stocking up on batteries all the time, it also eliminates the waste of all of those batteries... but most importantly, it emphasizes the kids strength...   With the Zoom Rocketz, you STOMP on the launch pad... The harder you stomp, the further your rocket will soar!!!

There are 3 settings that you can choose from to launch your rocket... Galaxy Blast, Arc Launch and Long Shot!!   I know that the boys will have a great time outside playing with these once he unwraps it at Christmas!!!  There are endless games that can be played and I can not wait to see them out there playing and laughing together.

Break away from the electronic activities and grab a couple of these great toys from Zing Toys for you and your family to play this holiday season!  Talk about making great memories!!!!

Merry Christmas, Splat - A Read Along DVD

When the book fair came to Broxton's school, I learned of a new (to me) character... Splat the Cat.
Now, I had never heard of Splat, but Broxton was all to familiar!
I was recently able to review Merry Christmas, Splat from Scholastic and Broxton was pretty excited!

Merry Christmas, Splat is a Read Along DVD with 4 stories on there...

  • Merry ChristmasSplat (written and illustrated by Rob Scotton, narrated by John Keating): Splat is trying hard to be good before Santa's arrival so he can get all the presents he's dreamed of onChristmas Day!
  • Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas (written by Julia Rawlinson, illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke, narrated by Katherine Kellgren): It'sChristmas Eve and Fletcher wonders how Santa will find his burrow through all the snow.
  • Snowflake Bentley (written by Jacqueline Briggs Martin, illustrated by Mary Azarian, narrated by Sean Astin): Willie Bentley loved and learned all about snowflakes.
  • Owl Moon (written and narrated by Jane Yolen, illustrated by John Schoenherr): A girl and her father search the moonlit woods for the Great Horned Owl in this carefully animated adaptation of a classic children's picture book.

Talk about a GREAT Christmas Gift!!!!

We were invited to go and see Frozen before it was released ... and it took everything I could not to tell you all about it as soon as I walked out the door of the theater, but I couldn't... Lips were sealed until it was released.
Well, it was released yesterday... SO I can tell you all about it!!!!!

We had been watching the trailer before we left to go see it and Broxton and I were loving the part where Olaf (the snowman) says "Do me a favor....  Grab my butt."  Once we were seated,  the 2 kids next to us struck up a conversation with Broxton and all 3 of them loved that part and the one where Olaf is talking about his "ittle bitty nose" Of course, as soon as it happened in the movie, the 4 of us were cracking up!!!

Frozen is a great family movie and Broxton and I loved it...
I absolutely loved the soundtrack (I have noticed myself singing the songs since we have been home several times!)

Frozen is a movie that shows us following Anna as she searches for her sister, Elsa.    Elsa has a special power (turning things to ice) and has set the entire Kingdom of Arendelle in winter. (It was summer before this happened, so no one was prepared.)  Not going it alone, Anna finds help in the mountain-man Kristoff and his reindeer sidekick, Sven... In actuality, they needed each others help, so this works out!    The weather is bad and keeps getting worse, but with Kristoff,Sven, Anna and then Olaf (that adorable snowman that I want to live at my house)  trying to save the Kingdom, you will stay on your seats ready to see what happens next.

I have seen people asking if boys would like it, since it does focus on Anna and Elsa and I say yes...  Boys will love it for the action and adventure while girls will love the Princess/Prince?Sister story line...  If I am being totally stereotypical here...

Bottom line, go see Frozen...  We saw it once and are both eager to go and see it again!!!

A Christmas Tree Miracle - Available December 3rd

Just in time for the holidays....
Green Apple Entertainment will be releasing "A Christmas Tree Miracle" on DVD and Video on Demand December 3rd, 2013.
We were sent an advance copy for review and I was excited to see the movie...
    (I love Christmas movies!!!)

When the movie started, I will admit that I was a bit put off by the acting... It seemed as though it could have been better, but as the story unfolded, I realized that I was paying no attention to the acting and was following the story...  and I am so glad I did!!!! ( I did fall in love with the little girl that played Nina... I see her going places...  She just made you feel the part!)

A Christmas Tree Miracle is about a family that seems self absorbed... and not paying any attention to ANYTHING around them...  All but Nina!  I loved it and thought it was a great movie to get us in the Christmas spirit!!!

    Synopsis:
For the George family - accustomed to the luxuries of a privileged suburban life - Christmas has become a season of taking rather than giving.  With dad pre-occupied with work. mom on edge and self-involved teens, Nick and Natalie, fixated on their ever-growing wish lists, the youngest is the only one with any true Christmas spirit.
When their dad loses his job just before the holidays, the family ignores the severity of the situation and continues to live above their means .  When the consequences catch up with them, they are left with nothing and nowhere to turn.
Taken in by an eccentric Christmas tree farmer, the family learns that miracles can come true... if you believe!  A warm-hearted tale reminding us that the best gifts are the simple ones... all year long.

    First Time for Smores!

Some time during the summer, Broxton started mentioning that he wanted us to camp out... He kept talking about wanting Smores and to sleep outside.  You know, living in an apartment for so long, we never had the opportunities to do things like that in our own back yard...   Now, we can.
Marc told Broxton that once it started to get colder, he would plan for a fun night outside.
Luckily for us, we have a fenced in back yard, so it was easy to plan!
The best part?  It was spur of the moment and it was a night full of memories!!!

Up first, Broxton had to help daddy gather up fire wood to make a mini bon-fire in the back yard:

Once the wood was gathered, Marc made a small fire for Broxton to roast marshmallows!!!

Broxton was so excited!  We put down a picnic blanket and got the ingredients for the smores ready!
Broxton was so excited to watch the marshmallow roast...   He wanted the whole thing charred.. not a spot of white on there... So, he kept working on his...
Once it was done, we made a smore and he took a big bite of it... Letting the marshmallow come out all the sides while it melted the chocolate!
Imagine this... he did not like it... He wanted to eat just the marshmallow... No chocolate and no graham cracker!  What?!  Marc and I loved them, but not this guy... marshmallow only from here on out...
After a bit, it was time to head inside...  We told Broxton we had to put the fire out... Here is where he is trying:
We made it easy on him and gave him a water hose!!!!
I tell you, the little memories like this mean the world to me!!!
Have you ever done a spur of the moment thing like this?

While at Americas Mart, I was able to be totally impressed by a company that goes above and beyond with personalized gifts.  Paparte was the name of the company and I am so glad that I stepped off that escalator and met Joe!
Paparte has a little bit of this and a whole lot of that.

Paparte is your personalized gifts headquarters!
Now, the think is, you can not just go on their website and order items...
You can request to learn more about where to shop and purchase their items, so head on over to see how to get something...
    But here is the thing...
With most personalized items, you really do not get to totally personalize it.
Normally, you have the print already selected, then you get to pick the font (and if you are lucky, the font color.)  Well not here..
Let me tell you how this works...
You select your item.   (I went with a tumbler)
    Then you select your background.
Then you go with your font and color.

I have really enjoyed my tumbler.  It is totally for me - designed by me!
I don't have to share my cup, as it clearly has my name on it!!!! It has held up great.  (Hand wash only)
They have so much more than just tumblers though...
They have wine glasses and shakers, pens and stationary, iphone cases and keychains and more!!!
So many items, so many designs... so many truly personalized items!
This would make a great Christmas gift, a graduation present, teacher gift or perfect items to make a gift basket!

Head on over to see what all they offer... and see how to go about ordering for your gift giving needs!

Yesterday, I told you a little (okay, maybe a lot) about my trip to Emory Point and all the cool shops they have there...   I wanted to finish telling you about it, but I did not want to overload you with all the information in one post...   I ask you to go and read my first emory point post, if you missed it...  Then, come on back to today!!!

After we left Fab'rik, we continued on with our tour and at some point, we found ourselves at Tin Lizzy's.  Now this place was pretty cool.  I believe they called it "Tex-Mex"  I will say, this is when I decided that I do NOTHING anymore... I always hear people talking about Tin Lizzy's... but I had never been there... Well, you can mark that off my list, as I have been there and will be going there again!  They have 5 stores (opening up a 6th on at the Mall of Georgia) and as Tony said, they are growing fast, opening around 2 new locations per year!
It seems that everything is made fresh on location.. right down to their chips and salsa!
Great looking food.  Great tasting too!  We got to sample a few different things.
While enjoying our food from Tin Lizzy's we learned that they have several different tacos and you can choose between flour tortilla's or whole wheat!   They actually have a contest where customers get to submit their recipe and the winner chosen is featured on the menu!  The winners choice we had available to try was the " Southern Comfort."  This taco included : grilled chicken, goat cheese, grilled onions, fried pickles and bbq sauce.  Sounds VERY different, but I tried it and really enjoyed it.  Although, I would say that the Korean BBQ taco was my favorite from those we sampled!   ( It has a nice kick to it, but nothing too crazy... take it from me, I do not like spicy at all and this was great!)

Patio at Tin Lizzy - Emory Point
As we were leaving, I noticed that Tin Lizzy's had TV's on their patio!  For those that want to go and spend a nice day eating a nice meal, enjoying the great weather... and maybe watching a bit of your game, Tin Lizzy's seems to have you covered!!!

A few more area's in Emory Point -
LaTagliatella - European based Italian Restaurant
Burgerfi - Burgers customized just the way you want it... Also has a great selection of custard treats and has a bar (beer/wine)
Which Wich - Over 50 customized sandwiches!  This sounds like a great place to grab a sandwich and then let your inner artist shine through.  Read about it to see just what I mean!
Fresh to Order - This place was rocking while we were there and more people headed in.  While there, we learned that they make each meal "fresh to order" (sandwiches and salads)  and that they are unique in not serving their salads in bowls, but rather in plates to highlight that they not only taste great, they look great too!  They also have a bar and although each item is made "fresh to order" they pride themselves in that they try to get food out in under 10 minutes!
Paradise Biryani Pointe-  This cafe offers all sorts of great sounding Indian food.  ( To be honest, Indian is new to me, but looking at their menu, I do want to try a few things out...  and I was told they did have options for the NON SPICY eater like me! We will be headed back to try them out soon!)
    American Threads
The final spot I want to tell you about is American Threads.  I loved the interior of this store and from what I gathered, I really loved what this store is about.
They are an Atlanta based boutique...
That showcases American designers...  and get this... They also like to sell the products from companies that give back (such as toms)
Pop Up Shop at American Threads
The icing on the cake for me was the Pop Up Shops.  American Threads highlights local artists and gives them a small area in their store for them to sell their items.  I love this thought and wish more places would do that!!!  What a great way to stay local!!

I really had a great time at Emory Point and I am so glad that I was able to go and learn so much about it.  I have already said I want to go back soon and buy a few things that caught my eye while on our tour!  If you live near the area, check them out!  I loved the setting and can not wait to see what other places are in store for the Phase 2.

Hang'Em and Hatch'Em Eggs - Great Fun and Making Memories

    FTC Compliant Review Policy:
The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

This past Easter, we were lucky enough to review the Hide and Hatch Em Easter Eggs...
Well how lucky are we that they reached out to see if we wanted to check out the Hang'em and Hatch'em Christmas Eggs?!  These eggs come in 3 different designs per box:  Red, Green and then a White with Gold Flecks!

The eggs are made with a loop on them so that you can hang them on your Christmas Tree... or you can be like us and decide that the temptation to see what is inside is a bit too much and go ahead and get them to hatch!!!  See, Broxton is ready to go!!!!  We added each egg to a clear cup (doesn't need to be a clear cup, but he wanted to be able to watch to see when they would start hatching!)

We learned with the Easter Eggs that if you hold them under water (there are little holes on the top to let the water inside the egg)  they will crack faster.  So, we hold them under to let the water fill the inside of the egg, then we go on about our business, just waiting for them to hatch!

It says that the eggs will hatch in a couple days, well... our first one hatched in a little over 24 hours!!!  Broxton was SO EXCITED to see the Polar Bear starting to emerge from the Egg!!!    He was so thrilled that we immediately had to go and peel it to get the polar bear (that he had to name Darth Vader!)
If you are looking for a fun gift (or just a great decoration item)  look no further than Hang'em and Hatch'em eggs!   They will be fun memories to look back on of the Holiday Season!

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that a few of us local Atlanta bloggers had the chance to have a meet up a few days ago... We were headed to take a tour of Emory Point. While there, I determined that I do not get out that much anymore, as many places were new to me...I had heard of some, but had been to none.   Today, I am going to tell you about some of the places we got to learn about.
    Fa
First up, let me tell you a little about Emory Point.
I will admit, having lived in Atlanta for over 15 years, I am not one to really travel around Atlanta.  I know my surrounding area and can use GPS to get me places, but as far as knowing all the hidden gems Atlanta has to offer, I am still learning...  and to me, Emory Point was a hidden gem that I was totally unfamiliar with!!!!   They have been there a little over a year now and as Megan stated, "It's only going to get bigger."   It is near Emory University (hence the name) and to me, it seemed to be off the beaten path, as far as not directly off the highway... at least not from my GPS.  Visit their site to see what they are near.

Emory Point - Shopping on bottom, apartments on top!
Emory Point is going for the byline of "Indulge.  Dine.  Dwell."
What does that mean for you and I?
Indulge - there are lots of shopping venues to choose from.  From chain stores such as Jos. A Bank and Loft to stores that I had never heard of such as Fabrik and American Threads.
Dine - They had several places to choose from and you could spend a day there eating all the different food options.
Dwell - They have apartments available for rent above the retail space below.  I do believe they said they were at 95% capacity.. but if this is where you want to live (and who wouldn't if you want to be in that area)  no need to worry, they are currently in Phase 2 of a new Emory Point with even MORE retail and living areas!!!!

Plenty of open spaces for spending the day enjoying beautiful weather!
If you are worried about parking, they do have street (metered) parking directly in front of select stores, but what is better is that they have a parking deck!  Free parking for the first 2 hours (if you get there before 5) and free parking for the first 3 hours (after 5 pm.)
Emory Point will soon start " Thursday Tidings" where they will have carolers, hot chocolate and more for enjoyment...   From 5-8 p.m. every Thursday during the holidays!

Information sign so you can get just where you need to go, if you are in a hurry.. But I highly recommend just taking your time and enjoying all the stores!

Okay, so I bet you want to know what all is there...
I will give you a somewhat round up of what all we saw while we were there for our tour.

Up first, we got to visit The General Muir

I will for sure be going to check them out again.  This was totally new to me.   Jennifer, the owner, also owns the West Egg, for those of you familiar with that.  The General Muir is a restaurant that basically has two areas.  One area is more of a walk up and order deli,  they had beautiful cakes that I wanted to indulge in right then, but since it was like 10 am, I thought against it... They did offer us a couple of tasty breakfast items and I really did enjoy that!  The Deli area is open from 7 am to 5:30 pm daily and they sell locally roasted coffee.
But then, you walk past a rather nice sized bar (with quite the selection of spirits) and you come to the other side of The General Muir...  The dining room.  I thought it was neat that they have a semi open kitchen area, it is right by the dining area and they have a wall around it, to keep the noise from disturbing patrons, but the top half is glass....  I thought that was so cool!
The kitchen area of The General Muir.
Make sure to check out the hours that The General Muir Dining Room is Open.

Now that your taste buds are watering from seeing The General Muir...
A couple other places to touch on:

Sweet Monkey - Cupcakes and Frozen Yogurt at the same place... that sounds AWESOME!
Jazmin Spa - They have beauty care products for sale and offer massages.
Lizard Thicket - A locally owned boutique.
Strippaggio - A store that sells locally made Olive Oil and other gift items!

They also have a CVS (pharmacy), Carriage Cleaners (dry cleaning) and Solar Dimensions (tanning salon)  all in the retail area!
Just some of the collection offered at Francesca's
Francesca's - this was a cute and funky boutique that offers all sorts of gift ideas for everyone you might need to buy for.  From clothing and accessories to different gift ideas that show you put thought into it!!!

Trendy Fabrik has a great selection of cute clothing!!!

Fab'rik - This store has marketing down to a science!
Hall Pass Tuesdays - Student I.D. gets you 15% off
Bride Brag- Register your wedding day and you get 20% off all purchases until the big day!!
You can also throw a "RockStar Party" where you and 10 or more of your closest friends get to have a private party there - from 7-9 p.m.   If they have new inventory, you can check it out before it hits the store floor!  (Call for more information on all of these.)  If memory serves me correctly, we were told that they try to stay affordable with nothing being over $100 except for their denim collection.

This is just part of what Emory Point has to offer!
Come back tomorrow to see the rest of our tour!!!
Make sure to follow me on Instagram, there are even more pictures there!

When I was at Americas Mart, I got to learn of a pretty neat product,  Snomee!   Snomee is more than a snow globe... It is a snow globe that is also a gift card holder...  and also has a spot for you to make it a card to keep, instead of one that is quickly tossed in the trash!

Snomee has snow globes that are sure to grab the eye for the gift giver and the recipient!
Snomee comes in many different scenes:
Multimedia, Reading, Music & Entertainment, Dining Out, Home Improvements, Fashion, Health & Beauty, Sports & Fitness, Coffee Breaks, Mall Buddy and Mystery Gift.
I love that they were heavy enough that you can tell they are of a great quality, but they are light enough that kids will be able to shake and enjoy the snow.
I thought it was great that Snomee targeted all the different scenes that are popular today.
As you can see, I went with the Sports & Fitness...  I wasn't sure who would be the recipient of this, but I thought that this was a great selection... Although, I do love the Multimedia or the Reading ones for personal choice!
Like I said, the cute thing about Snomee is that they are more than snow globes.  They open up to showcase that there is a gift card in there...   But even more, they have a place where you can write a message that will stay with the Snomee forever!
( I am thinking a cute message for a job well done... Going to college...  Winning an award...   Endless opportunities!)

Follow Snomee - Facebook - Twitter

One item I was thrilled to learn about was Salonpas.
If you remember, a bit ago we were sent Salonpas patches for review and both Marc and my mom were rather impressed...  My mom has issues with her knees and her back...  sees a doctor for it and is on medication.. but she swears by these Salonpas patches.

Anyways, I was contacted to see if I wanted to review their newest product...
Salonpas Gel.  I was eager to get my moms opinion on it, since she is in love with the patches and guess what... She is sold on this now too!!!

I thought for sure that she would not like this (since the patch just seemed so easy to put on)  but according to her, this works amazing on her knees!   (No worries, she still uses the patches on her back... but the knees have a new love affair with this gel!)
I will tell you... Marc tried it out on his neck... and it was the craziest thing... he immediately said his neck was on fire and had to jump in the shower to wash it off of him.  I could not figure it out, until he got out of the shower... Me- not being the smart one here - put it on him.. EXACTLY over where he had JUST shaved.  Yeah... I was trying to harm my husband!  No, seriously though... I did not realize he had JUST shaved... and it did burn him... but as I said... my mom uses it all the time and is so thankful for the relief that it brings her!
The best thing was that the packaging we received included a $2 off coupon, so she was able to save more money on future purchases!

I am glad that I was able to check this out, as it helps her out.. and who wants to see their loved one in pain?
