Introducing...

Yesterday I told you the sad news of the summer... and I told you to come back today to hear the happiest news of it all.  If you follow me on Instagram, you already know, but if not... Savannah is here!!! Through out the summer, we had many issues to deal with, but at the same time,  I was enjoying being pregnant.   Marc and I had presumed we were done having children.  We had let "nature take its course" and nothing had happened... I was a bit sad, as I did not realize with Broxton that he was not only the first for everything, he appeared to be the only and last too.  I will admit that I was a bit sad.  I had totally thought that we would have more than one, so to look back and realize that while I was enjoying the firsts of everything going through being pregnant,  I would not get to experience it again.  Then, it all changed.  I was pregnant and would get to experience it all again.  We knew that this time around would be the last,...

So Much To Update

Image
First of all, I want to say Thank - You to those of you that are still around. I know that I have not been blogging much lately, but it is about to change. This summer brought about so much and I wanted to try and update you.. Make sure to come back tomorrow, as that is a good one ;) Up first... Broxton finished Kindergarten.  Where did the time go?  Seems like just the other day I was sending him off to preschool and crying as I walked back to my car.  (Day 2 was harder than Day 1 of preschool, since he did carpool and I literally saw him growing up as he walked in the door!) Well, we now have Kindergarten out of the way and I guess before long he will be headed to college. How does time fly like that?  It can slow down whenever it wants!!!  We all knew he would be finishing school for the summer, so it wasn't a shocker... but so much was going on. My granddaddy passed away.  Yes, I was sad... selfishly sad.  He was 80 and led a great Christian l...

Big Announcement! I am #Pregnant

Image
In case you don't follow me on Instagram ... (If not, you should!)    Yes, we just announced that we are expecting a new addition to our family.  Our newest bundle of joy will be here in July.  Talk about a fast (and hot) summer.  We would love prayers for a healthy pregnancy, delivery and baby.

I'm Back!!!!

Image
Hey everyone!!! Hope you have had a great holiday and are back in the swing of things now. Sorry that I have been missing and I really hope you are still with me. Life has been hectic lately and I am finally back and ready to go. Let's see... Lots of personal things have been going on, but the main thing I want to share with you is asking for you to keep my family in your thoughts and prayers... You see, long story short, my granddaddy was placed in the hospital right before Christmas. He spent Christmas in the hospital, with my Mema by his side. For us, that meant going for a visit before Christmas to see him in the hospital and lucky for us, we were able to visit him after Christmas where he was back home.  For those not aware, he has Alzheimer's / dementia and that is just one of the issues he is facing.  The great news?  When I went to see him after Christmas, HE KNEW WHO I WAS!!!!   Talk about an amazing feeling!  I feel like it has been years and ye...

It takes a Village... @fathersdotcom

Image
Life has been pretty busy here lately... Broxton started kindergarten...  Enough said!   No seriously, he started kindergarten and I signed up for PTA... and he also plays baseball... So, like I said... busy... but so fun.  Something has been going through my mind lately and I wanted to share with you... The first couple days of picking him up after school did not go as smooth as I had hoped for.  He came home and all was fine, but there were a few tweaks needed...  As I was talking to the principal at his school, she made the comment "It takes a Village."  Never has it been more true than now, at least for us.  The first couple weeks of the school year, we were all adjusting and I was very impressed as to the hands on approach of the WHOLE school.    I love how they ask the parents to be involved and work as morning greeters...  Just one more friendly face before they head into the school to start their day. I have been doing i...

5 Tips to Brain Health - #Alzheimer's Really Stinks

This is not a sponsored post, but I did want to share with you.   My Grandaddy has Alzheimer's.  Let me just tell you, this disease SUCKS. I am sorry, this is not a happy post, but like I said... I wanted to share it with you. If you were around ages ago, I posted when my grandparents met Broxton for the first time ... The joy and love...  I tell you, when it comes to family, I am totally spoiled with a wonderful family that is full of love.  Talk about being lucky...   Until Alzheimer's comes in and messes things up. My uncle (my grandaddy's brother) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and recently passed...   It was a very hard time for me... and it makes me hate it that disease that much more.  (Several of my grandaddy's family has suffered with this horrible disease.)   Imagine going to visit your grandparents and then one day you go... He is there physically but he has that look in his eyes where he has no clue who you are... Yep, that is how it...

Okay, so I used to do "Aloha Friday" but it seems that it has died down... I have random questions of things that run through my head and I am going to start asking a question each week...  Would love to hear your answers!!!!!   I would also love for you to join in with me... Ask a Question of your own - either here in the comments or on your blog (leave me a link so I can visit and answer)  If it seems that a couple of you start doing this with me, I will totally put up a linky, but for now, I just want to know your thoughts... Today's Question -  What is your favorite Disney Movie? My answer - I would say that it is a toss up between Frozen and The Little Mermaid. I love the musical parts in them both... and the story of both of them are great...  I love almost all Disney Movies, but these are the top ones right now!

Today's Question - What is your favorite dessert? My answer -  I love anything sweet! It depends, sometimes it has to be chocolate, but other times, it just has to be sweet.  Today, I would say Red Velvet Cake is a must... But that is just because I would love a piece right now!  (or maybe Carrot Cake, I am not picky!

I actually just found one in my purse I meant to hand deliver... but it was never done... I will give it to them the next time I see them.  We especially make it a point to send Thank you notes when Broxton gets a birthday gift or something like that... It is always hand written and sent. ...

I find it rude not to do so.  Especially when they made the point to include it.  Some say" regrets only" but if they are asking for an RSVP, why not take the time to say yes or no...   I know that I put it on Broxton's invitations... since I needed to know how many kids to...

Dreaming of that Home Run

Image
As I mentioned, Summer has been BUSY for us! But, we love it!   I did want to share a few highlights from the end of the school year / start of summer. Broxton had his last day of preschool.... Yep, Mama teared up a bit... I did not cry as hard as I thought I would, but I think it was because I was blessed with my phone ringing right as I walked out and that stopped the tears from flowing.  It is so hard to imagine that he has just finished preschool and that my little one will be starting Kindergarten in the new year! Where does the time go?  Mama's with little ones - take note... IT FLIES!   Broxton walking in on the last day of school.   I thought it was so cute... They actually had a preschool graduation.  They made the kids shirts and that was their graduation outfit... Then, they sang a couple of songs and then they were presented with a "certificate" for graduation!   I was a bit emotional then, but it got me when we heard around fifty 4...

I am a Baseball Mom

Did I tell you Broxton was playing Baseball this year??? We LOVE it !!!

How We Do It....

Image
If you read my post last week, my little boy is now a big 5 year old . I ask you this, WHERE does the time go???? It seems like just the other day he was born and though all the milestones are flying by, I am loving every single minute... Although I do wish they would slow down just a bit...  Anyways- he had his party this past weekend. We invited a few friends kids and then the kids in his class at school and his karate class. We actually had a nice turnout and we really liked the whole thing. I LOVED the smiles and excitement on all of the kids faces... From the time they walked in, until they left... It was screaming, yelling and a great time! I did want to share a few pictures, but I also wanted to make sure I was not showing any of the other kids, so the pictures are limited...  Sitting on the "cake" while all the kids were introduced to one another.   (They also all had to give Broxton a high 5!) One of the activities?  Knocking down this triangle. ...

It's A Big World Out There...

Image
Who knew that 5 years ago today my life would completely change? I know you always hear the different things about motherhood, but one thing is for certain... and I mean it. I thought I knew what "love" was... but not until that sweet baby boy was in my arms did I really and truly know the extent of it.  From the very first time I laid my eyes on him, touched him...  I knew that this was something special. I believe in my heart that God gave me this sweet little boy when he did to help me out... Marc was headed off to Afghanistan and this was my little piece of him to keep with me until his return. Each morning brought new adventures and it sure has been so much fun. I am one of the luckiest in the world.  God had given me the chance to stay at home and be here for all the firsts that come along...  In the now 5 years that you have been here, we have had plenty of memories being made and I love that there is so much more ahead!!!! Just the other day, I was saying ...

What's Going On?

Image
Sorry that you guys have been a bit neglected lately.... It has been hectic around here (to say the least) and I have been enjoying spending time with family... Wondering what we have been up to? Well, besides being sick... Yes, you know how it goes... Going back and forth to my hometown... and then the weather changing, I ALWAYS get a cold...   so, I was not really able to visit with many family members... (Will totally be trying to make up for that soon!) Up first:  The Annual Army Party... I was able to get a good picture of the boys for our Christmas cards and we had a great day visiting. They had Marc dress up as Santa and give toys to all the kids....  It was funny, as Broxton IMMEDIATELY recognized it was his daddy!!!!  He did not ruin it for the others, but I thought it was pretty funny! The boys. A surprise party for my Mema.   Her birthday is on Christmas, so she never really gets to celebrate HER birthday...  This ...

First Time for Smores!

Image
Some time during the summer, Broxton started mentioning that he wanted us to camp out... He kept talking about wanting Smores and to sleep outside.  You know, living in an apartment for so long, we never had the opportunities to do things like that in our own back yard...   Now, we can. Marc told Broxton that once it started to get colder, he would plan for a fun night outside. Luckily for us, we have a fenced in back yard, so it was easy to plan! The best part?  It was spur of the moment and it was a night full of memories!!!  Up first, Broxton had to help daddy gather up fire wood to make a mini bon-fire in the back yard:  Once the wood was gathered, Marc made a small fire for Broxton to roast marshmallows!!!  Broxton was so excited!  We put down a picnic blanket and got the ingredients for the smores ready!  Broxton was so excited to watch the marshmallow roast...   He wanted the whole thing charred.. not a spot of white ...

Local Easter Seals Ornament Honors My Granddaddy!!!

Image
This is totally going to be a WORDFUL Wednesday Post... It is about my family and I am so very very proud! Let me give you the run down... Family - My dad's dad used to own a bicycle shop in my hometown.  He owned it for over 40 years and people all over town have memories of getting their bikes from him.  He passed away over 20 years ago, but his memory lives on!!! Easter Seals - I am not sure about everywhere else, but at least in my hometown, each holiday season, Easter Seals of Albany releases a new Christmas Ornament.  They some times have the ornament represent something in the city.  For around 10 years now, I have received one of these beauties for my personal tree.  (They $18 each, that includes shipping and $11 can be written off as a tax write off, if my memory serves me right.)   This year, my mom put a lot of thought into it and decided to write Easter Seals to see if there was anything that could be done to recommend making an ornament ...

Another Year, Another Photo

Image
We have this place near my parents home town... Kids go there on school trips, we stop there for delicious boiled peanuts...   and also photo opportunities! I do believe that Broxton has gone each year... This year, we sort of dropped the ball.. We planned on going, but never made it, well, I mean we did not make it for the photo's.   We did stop once, but it was just for a minute and Broxton was not dressed the way I would have liked for photos... but he had fun and the memories continue!!! Had I not had the other issues going on, we would have been able to go for the photos I wanted!!! Either way, I still got pictures, so the tradition continues!!!

Playing Catch Up!

Image
I know I have been MIA a bit lately... It has been a bit hectic here these days and it is time for catch up now. Just a picture I like of Broxton.. ENJOY First of all, I was in the process of blogging future posts when the computer shut off... I tried to bring it back to life, with NO RESULT... DEAD - DEAD- DEAD. I had to take it in to be looked at (since I know NOTHING about computers) and they had to mail it out... So, my planned posts ran out ... and I had nothing... Talk about being stuck in a hard place... I did not realize how much I depend on my computer... While I was having computer withdrawals, I had ear surgery....  Fun times there! My mom and dad came up to help out with Broxton (and to help look after me!) Long story short, I had a cyst type thing on the back of my eardrum... It had eaten away at my ear bones... The surgery was supposed to be around 3-4 hours... Yeah, it was worse than they thought and it took over 5 hours! Luckily for me, my MOPS MOMS ...
