School is about to start here, but that doesn't mean that the reading has to end.  I know that kids have a good amount of school work, but lucky for us, some of it includes nightly reading.  When I was growing up, my Nana would make me read the newspaper to her, she said it would help with my reading and my vocabulary.  I did it, but I know I would have had more fun reading books that were filled with characters I loved too!!! (She did take me to the library all the time, so no worries, I had fun reading material too!)  Anyways, I wanted to share a few new books from Disney Publishing.  If you don't want to add to your home library, think about buying a couple and donating them to your local school...

The reason they stand out so much?  They are more "interactive" than other books... without all the technology that seems to suck kids in these days!  Wondering what I mean?  Well, to be honest, when I was sent the preview sheets, I thought it was some sort of app, but then the books arrived and it was cute to watch Broxton's face as we read each page.  You have to swipe your hand over the pages, clap so many times, press to places on the pages, all while using your imagination!!!   The books we were sent (very "hands on") involved popular Disney characters. Shake to Assemble (The Avengers) ...

I love the story (and music) and Broxton loves Olaf.  It works out great for us and we need to actually watch the movie again soon, I am missing singing along! We have been lucky to have had the chance to read several of the Disney Line of Frozen Books and they just keep releasing them!  I love it though, what better way to get a child interested in reading than to write about something they enjoy????   One of the latest books from Disney Frozen?   Elsa's Gift  . This is a great book!   In this book, Arendelle is celebrating winter --- but it is because that is the season, not because of Queen Elsa.  (Meaning, this takes ...

While some kids might have all sorts of moves, Broxton was blessed to have some - or at least he is confident he has them... and I know they did not come from me... I have NO moves at all.  Ha ha ha... Normally, as soon as he hears music, he is dancing and singing and having a blast.. The latest song he loves? HAPPY. Thanks to a certain movie, he has heard it on there and now whenever he hears it, he starts singing and dancing!  I love it and I love to try and build his confidence in his dancing ability, too many times people are quick to comment and then the kids stop having fun - not around here they aren't!!! We were lucky to find out that his K-4 teacher last year actually had "dance party Friday...

I had tons of the movies on VHS (yep, totally dating myself now!)  and now we are trying to add to our DVD / Blu-Ray Collection.  With all Disney movies, you get to learn... and fall in love with... all of the characters.   In this Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters, we start with ABU and end with ZURG.  This Encyclopedia is a hard back book that  features fun facts, tricky trivia, and cool quotes about over 150 Disney heroes (and villains!) I loved that it even had Jiminy Cricket in there, he was always a cute character to me.  This book is so up to date, it even had SVEN in it (from Frozen!)   Besides...

Lips were sealed until it was released. Well, it was released yesterday... SO I can tell you all about it!!!!! We had been watching the trailer before we left to go see it and Broxton and I were loving the part where Olaf (the snowman) says "Do me a favor....  Grab my butt."  Once we were seated,  the 2 kids next to us struck up a conversation with Broxton and all 3 of them loved that part and the one where Olaf is talking about his "ittle bitty nose" Of course, as soon as it happened in the movi...
