I know I am lucky.  Each morning I wake up and see the two most precious and wonderful gifts that God gave me, I see that.  Each night I go to sleep, I am thankful for the day that we had, no matter how good or bad it was.
The two that call me mama.

Today, I wanted to say thank you to all of you, my readers.  So, because Mothers Day is coming up, quickly followed by Fathers Day, I wanted to host a giveaway for you! It is pretty simple.  Just enter on the rafflecopter form below!
Seriously, who can't use a $20 GIFT CARD???

CVS is your one stop shop

This week at our school, we have been celebrating out teachers. If you get a good one, they go above and beyond each and every day.  Many times teacher have to spend their own money to continue providing supplies for the classroom.
One year, a friend of mine (before Broxton was in school) was telling me how her school did Teacher Appreciation Week and while I thought it was a bit extreme, especially for those on low income, I see how it was beneficial to the teacher for her class.  Example, they were requested to send in $10 gift cards on one day to certain places, then a list of different things for the other days.  Oh and a $10 gift card for lunch one day too. This was EACH STUDENT.  What if you did not like the teacher??
Anyways, we have been lucky to have teachers we like and also in the fact that our school doesn't do crazy stuff like that.
This year we had basic days: draw a picture or make a card, bring a flower, gift for the specials teachers (like art/ music/pe) bring a snack and so on.  Of course we did it all, but I also like doing a gift for the end of the year as well.  Yes, I know its almost the end of the year, but I mean like the last week of school.
I normally try to do one or two things.  One - just give a gift card and call it a day or Two - do a mixture of things in a gift basket.  If I do the gift basket, I like to do a few items for the classroom (to help start the next year off great) and then a few items for the teacher to enjoy as well.
I wanted to share with you a few easy and simple ideas you could do for your teacher (or mom for Mothers Day) thanks to the chance to work with CVS.

If you are thinking of something you could do for the teachers gift...
Give a gift basket with supplies for the classroom. CVS offers bandages in fun patterns for any kid at heart.  I know grown ups, myself included, that would totally rock the bandages with the Avengers on it.  You could add bandages, tissues, cleaning wipes and then a few school supplies like notepads, pens, pencils and markers.  Then throw in a gift card to treat them to lunch or even a gas card.
If you are trying to find a great gift for mom, or even grandma's, you could go the same route.  Pick out fun bandages for when the kids get hurt, or need that extra comfort. We all know that bandages can solve many an injury. If you don't want to make a free for all gift basket, you could go in a totally opposite directio.  You could gift tissues and then a tearjerker movie with snacks and goodies for a movie day!
While you are there, make sure to stock up on a few of the CVS line of over the counter medicines.  Since summer break is headed our way, we need to make sure the illnesses stay away so we can make the most out of each moment!   I admit, I don't go to CVS as much as I should, but that will be changing as a CVS is opening up right down the road from us soon.  My mom on the other hand, well besides home and work, this is the third place you are most likely to find her at!  I could grab a CVS gift card and send it to her to make her a happy lady!
DO you have a CVS near you?  What do you go there to purchase most often?

Chewbeads, More than just a Mothers Day Gift

Still trying to find the PERFECT Mother's Day gift?  If you have a new mom in your life, or know someone that is expecting, this is the gift you need to look at.
When Savannah was born, I knew I needed to find something to help us all out when we hit the teething stages.  Sure, you can have teethers and rings to put in the freezer, but if you are out and about running errands, you are not always going to remember to grab that, are you?
Chewbeads is something you will remember, because it is something that you wear!  (A little "fashion accessory" if you will.)  I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to review a couple items from the Chewbeads line of products!

Chewbeads are stylish and add extra interest and color to your outfit. Not only are these  necklaces attractive and stylish, but they are also completely safe for your baby or toddler to chew on when they are teething. Baby-safe jewelry for new moms is becoming much more popular, and this selection made of 100% safe silicone is ideal, because it looks like a fashionable necklace and not a string of baby toys hung around your neck.
·         no bpa, phthalates, lead, cadmium, or heavy metals
·         no detachable parts
·         breakaway clasp
·         clasp is not chewable, chewing on clasp may cause necklace to lose functionality
·         inspect all jewelry before use, if any beads are damaged, please dispose of or return to manufacturer for a replacement
·         chewbeads are intended to be worn by adults, are not a toy, and are not intended to be worn by children
·         Chewbeads have been thoroughly tested by a global CPSC accredited laboratory to assure that they will not break apart or detach in a baby's mouth & that they are non-toxic, however, with all jewelry, chewbeads should not be left with any baby unattended

Not only do Chewbeads come in a wide variety of necklace designs and colors, they also offer other products as well.  We were sent the Mulberry Teether in Punchy Pink and I love it.
I love that the teether is cute and practical.  I love that it is in a bright color (but they also have grey and other more neutral colors, I just wanted bright and bold with her!)
I am still trying to decide if I love the necklace or the teether more.  I would probably say the necklace, as I can wear it whenever and always have it with me.
We went to the zoo and I wore it, she got fussy and I actually took it off my neck and connected it to her stroller.  Win - win for us all.  Another time, we went to meet friends and I had it on.  I had many compliments on it and when they found out it was more than a necklace I think they were a bit amazed.  Finally, I had it on at Broxton's school once and she grabbed it to chomp, one of the students was like "uh oh, she's grabbing your necklace and CHEWING IT!"  I explained it was my necklace to wear and it was made for her to chew.  I loved seeing their face when they saw something "SO COOL!"

So, as I said.. if you are looking for a perfect gift... (We all know how painful teething can be for the little one and those around) look no further than the Chewbeads website.  Just a warning, you will want to get more than just one thing!  I love my necklace, but now want the cornelia bracelet and the stack and play sets!    Head on over and let me know what you like!

Three new books, great for those that made you a mom!

I heard it was Children's Book week, so I wanted to share a couple books that we were recently sent for review.  I am still trying to decide which is my favorite.  They are all three totally different, but each hits a soft spot for me.  With Mothers Day right around the corner, it would make a great gift if you decide you want to give a book or two to the little ones that made you a mom!
I really loved Hypnosis Harry, because it explains that when we say "NO" it isn't just no that we mean, it is so much more!  In Hattie Peck, we learn to never give up and to always follow your dreams.  Finally, My Shadow has been a favorite poem to me for years and years, so I love seeing the poem as a book with illustrations perfect for children!

***** Just click on the images below to be taken to Amazon to purchase to add to your personal library.  Each link is an affiliate link.

Harry’s parents say no to everything! That is, until Harry learns about hypnosis. HYPNOSIS HARRY by Catherine Bailey and Sarita Rich is a wildly funny, sweetly silly look at the real meaning of the word “no.” Children will delight as little Harry answers the delicious question: What would you do if you could do anything?
Poor Hattie Peck simply loves eggs, but she has only ever laid one—and it never hatched. Hattie embarks on a journey in search of all the abandoned eggs. HATTIE PECK by Emma Levey is a sweet and simple story about how to love all different kinds of people. Readers will be encouraged to follow Hattie Peck’s example of be persistent and creative to make their dreams come true in unexpected ways.

MY SHADOW illustrated by Sara Sanchez is a sweet and charming retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous poem for children. Parents and teachers will love exposing children to one of the classic authors in children's literature through this simple and charming retelling.

Have you read any of these?  Which one sounds best to you?

How many years since we met Shrek?

You’ve never met a hero quite like SHREK, winner of the first ACADEMY AWARD® for Best Animated Feature*. The endearing ogre sparked a motion picture phenomenon and captured the world’s imagination with...the Greatest Fairy Tale Never Told! Critics have called SHREK “not just a brilliant animated feature, but a superb film on any level” (Larry King, USA Today). Relive every moment of Shrek’s (Mike Myers) daring quest to rescue feisty Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), with the help of his lovable loudmouthed Donkey (Eddie Murphy), and win back the deed to his beloved swamp from scheming Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Enchantingly irreverent and “monstrously clever” (Leah Rozen, People Magazine), SHREK is an ogre-sized adventure you’ll want to see again and again.
Oh, the answer is 15 years, if you did not know.  I had no clue!

When his frog-in-law suddenly croaks in SHREK THE THIRD, Shrek embarks on another whirlwind adventure with Donkey and Puss In Boots to find the rightful heir to the throne. Shrek longs for the days when he was a “real ogre” in SHREK FOEVER AFTER. Shrek signs a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to get his roar back...but turns his world upside down in the process.

I recently had the chance to attend the Alive Expo and to tell you that they have loads of information would be an understatement.  From what I figured out, this event is held in Atlanta each year and both large and small companies come to tell you what they have to offer.
I was surprised at the number of booths there.
They had lotions and potions, foods and oils...  the best part was that if you are totally new to the "health and wellness" scene, many of these companies were giving out samples for you to try before investing in them.  They really stand behind their products!

Broxton and I went in with an open mind to see what all was there and boy, we left talking about healthier options! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw some of the booths represented since I posted a few photos.  (If you don't follow, head on over... I will wait!)

So... what did we learn?
Well, for starters. They had one company there that asked if I needed to relax.  I looked at her like she was crazy and pointed to my two children.  She told me to sit for a minute.  She had Broxton sit beside me and of course, Savannah was in the stroller.  I was not sure what to expect, as I did not see any massages being given out there, but low and behold.  She grabbed this big bowl looking thing, told me to close my eyes and relax.  (I did, but honestly, I kept peeking to check on my children. Another reason I kept peeking?  No joke... I was about to fall asleep from her relaxation technique and I didn't want to snore and scare people!)  She was with ISTA Sounds. They have monthly meetings for you to go and relax.  They also had CDs for sale.  She didn't pressure me to buy one and instead told me to watch a few you tube video's.  If I was still interested, I could then purchase one.  I loved the fact that I wasn't pressured into anything.
Another company there was selling home sauna's. (Actually two different ones if my mind serves me correctly.  One was a wooden one that came up to your waist, the other was a tent like one that came up to your neck.  You can see the silver one on Instagram since Broxton really wanted to see how it worked.
Other companies there were showcasing healthier drinks. (I was really impressed with the drinks and gelato!) Of course they had medicines, essential oils, lotions and more. Like I said, it was FULL of information and in a very laid back atmosphere.

Here is the online description about the Alive Expo:

PBS Programs never disappoint us!

I have always loved PBS and the fact that the shows that are on there are great for my little ones.  Not only is it great programming for the entertainment factor, they also have educational aspects that is a great way to help "teach" younger minds without boring them with lectures!  We don't always watch the television, but I love having it on for background noise.  It is fun to see what actually grabs the attention of a little one and we mix it up with different shows from time to time.  Another thing I love?  Having the shows on DVD so that if its a time when that particular show isn't on, we still have the option to watch!   Also to take when we visit grandparents as they don't have the kids shows ready to watch when we are there!   Ha ha ha!!!!  We were recently sent a few new DVDs of great PBS programming and I want to share with you a few newly released DVDs.

NEW Lego Star Wars Show on Disney XD - June 20th

For those that know my son, you know he loves a couple things more than anything else. First up, his sister. Tied for second - Star Wars and LEGO.
I know he is going to be so excited to see this new show.  I am glad that with a 10 am debut time, they released it during the summer!!!!  I received this information in an email and just thought I would share it with you!  Will you be watching?

Introducing new heroes and villains to the LEGO Star Wars universe, the animated television series "LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures" will premiere MONDAY, JUNE 20 (10:00 a.m. EDT), on Disney XD. Set between the events of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," the action comedy series follows the Freemakers, a family of sibling scavengers who operate a salvage and repair shop in space. The series will also feature familiar characters and locations from the filmed Star Wars saga.

During the series' premiere week, Disney XD will debut a new episode each day, beginning Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23. The first episode will also be available via Video on Demand (VOD) and the Disney XD app for users on tablets, phones, set top boxes and computers on Monday, June 20.

The series stars three Freemaker siblings who scour the galaxy for useful debris that they use to build new vehicles of their own design. Rowan, the spunky Force-sensitive 12-year-old with a thirst for adventure, is voiced by newcomer Nicolas Cantu. His quick-witted older sister, Kordi, voiced by Vanessa Lengies ("Glee"), manages the family business and is the glue that holds the family together. Ace pilot and charming rogue Zander, voiced by Eugene Byrd ("Arrow"), is the oldest brother and the family's self-proclaimed starship connoisseur. Lucasfilm's Matthew Wood voices R0-GR, also known as Roger, a refurbished battle droid from the Clone Wars adopted by the Freemaker family.

The humorous and action-packed tale of good versus evil begins when Rowan discovers the Kyber Saber, an ancient artifact with a powerful connection to the Force. Their world is turned upside down as they are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. Throughout their adventures, the Freemakers learn the true value of what it means to be a family.

"LEGO® Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures" is a production of Wil Film, the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm and is the first television series created in partnership with the LEGO Group, Disney and Lucasfilm. Developed for television by executive producers Bill Motz and Bob Roth ("Penguins of Madagascar"), Torsten Jacobson ("LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales") and Jill Wilfert ("The LEGOTM Movie") also serve as executive producers, alongside producers Carrie Beck ("Star Wars Rebels"), Jason Cosler ("LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Avengers Reassembled!"), Jake Blais and John McCormack.
