Salon Feeling at Home - Hair Care Products We All Need

I love going to get my hair cut...
Not the cut of it, but the fact of the relaxation of having someone wash my hair (the salon shampoo always smells so great... ) then the brushing, cutting and styling... It is nice to be pampered from time to time...

I was lucky enough to be sent a great product and I am totally loving it!  I was sent the Infusium 23 Repair and Renew line and it is the smell and end result of going to the salon, but without the price!!!!
Infusium has several hair care lines that is sure to be a match for what you need!
From the Repair and Renew that I was sent, they also have : Moisture Replenisher, Volume Builder, Frizz Controller and Color Defender!
I will be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the leave in product... (The third step) Because whenever I have used leave in products in the past, it looked as though my hair had fallen in a bucket of grease or something by the end of the day...   That is NOT the case with this!  I do not wash my hair each day (I do rinse it most days though)  and this leaves my hair looking pretty good.  There have been a few times when I felt I needed a little love to my hair and did not have the time to do anything, so I did add a bit of the leave in product in and it was good to go! (Probably not what they planned on it for, but it works for me!)
Side note, the little things make me happy.  I love that they have two totally different tops on their bottles... You know when you are in the shower and you have the bottles that look the same?  Well, at least you can grab it and if the top opens as a push, its the shampoo... pop it open and it is the conditioner!
Shampoo:
Nourishes and treats the hair cuticle to minimize friction and alleviate breakage.  Cleanses to remove residue and build up while nourishing hair from root to tip.
Conditioner :
Infuses the hair cuticle to alleviate breakage caused by routine brushing and styling.  Conditions hair to provide softness, manageability and shine.
Leave In Treatment:
Infuses the hair cuticle to help restore healthy texture and strengthen against future damage.    Treats hair to help restore healthy texture and condition.

Now, if you are in a bit of a hurry and know you do not have the time to commit to the whole washing with shampoo and then using the conditioner, keep in mind Pert 2 in 1.  Pert has come a LONG way from the original days of their 2 in 1.
Pert now offers several different products.
Daily Cleansing, Volumizing, Classic Clean, Moisturizing, Invigorating or Anti Dandruff.
I think I love the Invigorating when I am rushed for time in the morning and I need a jolt to get going... There is a hint of peppermint, so it gives you a burst to wake up!

Shampoo plus conditioner in a formula that wakes you up, rinses clean and won't build up.  To turn your hair into fresh, healthy hair.  Gentle enough for color-treated hair.

Shampoo plus deep conditioner in a formula that adds moisture, rinses clean and won't build up.  To turn dry, damaged hair into smooth, healthy hair.  Gentle enough for color-treated hair.

I was impressed with all of the products I was sent.  If you are looking for a little pampering, look no further... You could also make a little "Pamper Me" Present if you are trying to find something for someone hard to buy for.  I really liked that I could use the Infusium 23 to give me a salon feel, but could also use the Pert 2 in 1 on the days I was rushed and I still had hair that looked good and smelled fresh!

Big Top Scooby Doo - October 9th

When Broxton saw the previews for Big Top Scooby Doo, he was so excited!!!  He kept talking about how he wanted to see it and was just too cute for words!  I was happy to know that I was going to be receiving it for review, but I kept it a secret until it arrived...
The day it came, I handed him the case and he was jumping up and down ready to watch it..
We popped a bowl of popcorn and settled in...
Popcorn... Circus and a movie?  That was a given!!!!!

SYNOPSIS:
When the Brancusi Circus comes to town, Fred — who has always had dreams about performing under the big top — jumps at the opportunity to visit the show. Upon their arrival, Scooby and the gang learn the circus performers have been terrorized by a werewolf who has not only frightened them but has also stolen jewelry from circus spectators. The circus is blamed for the attacks and faces a potential shutdown. Desperate for help, the circus ringleader turns to Scooby-Doo and his pals. To get close to the action, they all go undercover as circus performers: Fred becoming a trapeze artist, Daphne a daring motorcycle stunt driver and Velma a human cannonball. Will they be ready to face a frightening team of circus-themed werewolves?

I loved that it was Scooby Doo that we have grown to love over the years... (Broxton is just now getting really into watching him) But, it was neat that they had Velma looking things up online... Wow, the times are changing!   I thought it was great and Broxton is already asking to watch again!!!!!
Remember, you can purchase it October 9th!

Who's That Girl? New Girl Season One

Hey Girl.......  What 'Cha Doin?

Have you seen the show, New Girl?  It is currently in season two and I am LOVING it...
Marc and I got into watching it last year, I even had to talk about it on Facebook, as it is just THAT good.
Well, not to mention I was a bit confused, I think I missed the second episode and I was lost for a minute...

It starts off with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) breaking up with her boyfriend...
She moves in with three guys that she does not even know...
Then, the next episode, one of the roommates has changed...
I was lost as to how they explained all of that, but then I learned that the "new" roommate had been away playing basketball in Europe or something... No matter what happened, it all works out and the show is awesome.   I can not wait to see what is in store this year...  I really want Jess and Nick to hook up, but I am not sure how that is going to play... I am thinking that I am not the only one, as it has somewhat been discussed this year!  Okay, I am not going to give anything away, but I will say...
If you are looking for a new show to watch... Grab this, get caught up and start watching...
Or, if you are like me and are already a huge fan... Grab this so you can go back and relive it all over again!!

Synopsis:

International Suit Up Day is October 13 #HIMYM

From the Mouth of Barney:
SUIT UP!!!!!
How I Met Your Mother - Season 7 Available today, October 2nd.

SUIT UP!

Not only is How I Met Your Mother’s seventh season coming out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 2, but Barney Stinson’s favorite holiday, International Suit Up Day (ISUD), is right behind it on October 13. Of course, Barney knows his designers and wears them on his sleeve – literally. So to help you perfect the Barney Stinson look, here are some tips to make the most of ISUD.

The Gray Suit
In a lighter shade or even in more of a charcoal, think of it as the anchor of your suiting up wardrobe.

The Navy Suit
Luckily, navy isn’t the snooze it used to be. Now a classic choice, it travels seamlessly from the boardroom to a legendary evening out.

The Black Suit

A staple for every man’s suit collection, to be sure -- just make sure it’s slim fitted and stylish. No one wants to look like a funeral director at cocktail hour.

The Pinstripe Suit
Get a little adventurous and pair your pinstripes with a solid dress shirt. In Navy, black or gray, pinstripes will always be classic and demonstrate your confidence.

Barney also suggests the following to capitalize on all that ISUD has to offer:
§  Wear a suit to university
§  Wear a suit to work
§  Wear a suit in the hospital
§  Wear a suit to school
§  Buy a suit
§  Party in a suit
§  Play laser tag in a suit

Ready? Now… SUIT UP! It’s gonna be LEGENDARY!

***** I was not asked to post this, I just thought it was nice to help out with suits... and Barney makes me laugh! *****

Quite honestly, I am not really familiar with Poe, although I "think" we had Poe discussions in school... So, when I saw that I could post a "Cheat Sheet" with Poe facts to hopefully better understand, I had to share with you!  Hope this helps....

Some of the references in The Raven may have been lost to those who don't know much about the great Edgar Allan Poe. Here .... the most important Poe facts, including information on his most famous works, major life events and the many theories surrounding his mysterious death.

Edgar “Allan” Poe
Edgar Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. He was sent to a foster home in Richmond, Virginia at the age of two following his mother’s death. His foster family’s last name was Allan, which they added to Edgar’s full name.

Early Life
Prior to being a full time writer, Poe attended university for one year and served in the U.S. Army for two years. Following his discharge from the military, Poe struggled through different financial matters with his foster father, and eventually was disowned by the family.

Father of “Writer” as Occupation
Before Poe, writing was not considered a credible career path to make a living. His short stories and poems were published in several different periodicals and magazines in major cities including Philadelphia, New York, and Baltimore.

Inventor of Detective Fiction Genre
Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Arthur Morrison – all famous detective authors – have Poe to thank since he is credited as writing the first detective novel. He wrote several mystery tales featuring the fictional character C. Auguste Dupin, who became a framework for the creation of some of the most famous fictional detectives, including Sherlock Holmes.

American Romantic Movement
Poe wrote prose, short stories, and poems during the American Romantic Movement in the 19th century. This movement took on a more liberal tone to contrast the elitist views of transcendentalism, a genre that Poe harshly criticized.

MS. Found In a Bottle”
One of Poe’s first publications was a short story about a man’s journey at sea. It was chosen as the winner of a writing contest given by the weekly periodical, the Baltimore Saturday Visiter, and launched Poe’s career into the public eye.

Interesting Marriage
Poe married his 13 year-old cousin Virginia Clemm in secret when he was 27. The couple had a public ceremony one year later and remained married until Virginia’s death from tuberculosis at the young age of 24. Rumor has it that the couple treated one another as if they were brother and sister rather than lovers.

The Raven”
Poe’s most famous work is a narrative poem about a young lover who converses with a raven as he mourns over his lost love, Lenore. The poem made Poe into a national celebrity once it was published under his name in 1845. The poem consists of dark themes including grief and death. Also, the poem has several allusions to Greek mythology, black magic, English literature, and the Bible.

Poe’s Death
Poe died at the age of 40 on Sunday, October 7, 1849 at the Washington College Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was taken to the hospital after being found in the streets in complete delirium and wearing clothes that didn’t belong to him.

Medical Theories of Death
Poe’s death certificate and final medical records are forever lost, leaving the cause of his death a mystery. Some theories include “the shakes” as a result of alcoholism, heart disease, epilepsy, syphilis, meningitis, cholera and rabies.

Murder Speculation
Others believe that Poe may have been a victim of “cooping”, a practice in which election gangs caught people who refused to vote and held them in a coop, forcing them to consume alcohol or drugs until they agreed to cooperate. If the prisoner didn’t vote, then he would be killed, which may have been the case for Poe.

*****  I was not asked to post this, just thought someone might like to know more about Poe and look into watching this movie when it comes out. *****

With so much getting ready to start, I just wanted to remind parents of AllerMates...

In Time For Halloween: Spooky Stories

Just in time for Halloween:
Spooky Stories!!!!
Broxton likes the characters from Shrek... Although, truth be told, I think Marc and the boys like him WAY MORE!!!!!    But, Broxton has decided that he enjoys watching Monsters vs. Aliens.  Not really sure when this new fascination happened, but it did ...
So now... They have Spooky Stories, around an hour and a half of shorts with the characters we have grown to love... I think this would be a great trick or treat idea if you have just one visitor that heads your way for Halloween... I know when I was younger, my Nana didn't give out candy for Halloween, but she made sure she had a "gift" for any of the grand kids that came by to see her in their costumes... This would be great for situations like that... Or, since Halloween is on a weeknight this year, you could just stay in and watch a movie that night... Here is a perfect one for you!

SYNOPSIS: Join Shrek, Donkey, Puss and B.O.B. as they get the fright of their lives in six fun shorts, including two brand NEW titles: Shrek: The Pig Who Cried Wolf and Monsters vs. Aliens: Night of the Living Carrots.
The collection also includes Scared ShreklessMonsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer SpaceThe Ghost of Lord Farquaad and the outrageously Shreked out parody of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. DreamWorks Spooky Stories also includes optional pop-ups on Night of the Living Carrots and the World of DreamWorks Animation featuring previews, music videos and more...

***** I was not asked to post this, just trying to help with gift ideas for all of you. *****

Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and the Merry Mouse Oct.2nd

I love Tom and Jerry...
Don't get me wrong, I don't sit around and hope for it to come on, but when it does... We will watch from time to time.  Honestly, I remember it from childhood and never watched with Broxton.  Then, one day, I walked in to see Marc all snuggled on the couch watching them with Broxton.  I just laughed and sat down to join in the trip down memory lane...
On October 2nd, Tom and Jerry set out on a new adventure...
Robin Hood and the Merry Mouse!!!!

 SYNOPSIS:
A fresh take on the classic story, Tom & JerryRobin Hood and his Merry Mouse is an action-packed family film filled with laugh-out-loud moments and fur-flying exploits that only our favorite cat and mouse duo can deliver! The tussling twosome are at it again, when Jerry, as the smallest member of Robin Hood’s gang encounters Tom, a feline squire to Maid Marian. Not only are the cat and mouse from opposite sides of the moat, but Tomis secretly working as a spy for the Sheriff of Nottingham and evil Prince John. But when the villains succeed in capturing Robin, Tom realizes to his horror that they intend on harming Marion as well.  So he joins forces with Jerry, not only saving their respective humans but allowing for the safe return of King Richard as well.

We have yet to watch this, as I feel it is more of a daddy/son time with Tom and Jerry, so I was waiting until Marc could watch it with him...   But, I figure with two well known "stories" it will be worth the wait!

You can head out and buy this on October 2nd.
Have a family movie night soon, or wrap it up for a great gift under the tree this year!
