Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. When Disney Cars came out, we were all hooked! It was the movie that we could get the big brothers to watch with Broxton and everyone loved it, so when Disney Planes came out, I was so excited!  Broxton loves planes and since it was from the makers of cars, I knew we were in for a treat.  If you are not familiar with Disney Planes - you are missing out... We loved the movie and even have some of their toys now!  Well, I have recently discovered that there is a Disney Planes - Fire and Rescue Movie headed to theaters on July 18th.  We read other Planes Books , so I feel as though I know the story a bit... But, before we head to see the new movie, we can read up and for sure know all about them! ...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Third post on the awesome series of books we were sent from Sterling Publishing... It is their "Good Question" series and I think it is a great one that I already had to brag about to a friend of mine.  The books are recommended for different ages, with the books I am reviewing today being recommended for ages 6 and up.  Look, our kids don't get younger... so these will be great for him, even if it is recommended for older ages right now...  BUT - we are getting into the whole solar system thing already, so it is still great to have on hand for him to learn now! Questions in these books range from " What holds our solar system together?"  to "Which planet has a cloud named Scooter?...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I introduced you to a few books from Sterling Publishing Good Questions series yesterday and today we get to explore a few more!  I really love how each book is full of all types of information and is sure to have people of all ages learning something they might not have known before. In the books I am reviewing today, we learn more from their science / nature line.   A couple of the questions throughout the books: "Why do some caterpillars have spiky hairs on their bodies?" and  "How is a butterfly different from a moth" or "Why can't you tickle yourself" and "How does breathing help you smell?"  or even "Why are the stems of trees covered with bark" and "W...

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?  Do you remember what all you were taught in school?  I know I don't remember that much ... I know that is sad to say, I know the basic things for survival and common sense, but as far as the other facts that we were taught, I have a hard time remembering any of that! I get paranoid when I think about Broxton starting school ... Will it come back to me, or will I be up late night reading through his books to know what to prepare for the next lesson?   PLEASE - TELL ME Moms and Dads... HOW DID YOU DO IT?    Luckily for Broxton, Marc loves History and all of that good stuff - so he is set when it comes to that subject.  To be honest, the older I get, t...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I am really loving the Burton the Scarecrow series that we were sent for review.  I love that you can buy the whole series, or just individual books and I think that they would make great gift ideas!  If you have a young one in your life, you could actually buy this set of books to help to building a great home library!   You might wonder why you would want a set of books "about a scarecrow" but guess what - that is just a small part.  The MORAL compass of each book far outweighs the scarecrow of it all... The scarecrow character just makes it more "kid friendly"  but the message is something that many of the adults in the world could learn from!   Book 3 - Burton's Harvest P...

Burton the Scarecrow has recently made his way into our house and let me tell you- these books are super cute!  I was trying to figure out just how exciting a scarecrow would be and V.A. Boeholt has done a great job in keeping us entertained.  We were sent the 5 book series and I fell in love with Burton as soon as we met him.   Burton is awesome and a great role model for kids to have.  This post is going to share the first 2 books of the series and you will have to come back to learn of the last 3.   If you don't fall in love with the illustrations in the book, you will for sure fall in love with the stories you get to read!   Book 1 - Burton the Kind Scarecrow: Whether ...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Broxton is really getting more and more into reading and that makes me so happy!  Right now we are all about " what does S-T-O-P spell"  or "what does O-P-E-N spell"  every sign he can see, we have to discuss...   That is when we are riding around... Once we get home, we read books and have decided that we will start a book journal for the summer...  (We have never left the library with less than 5 books each time!)  What I love is that Disney Books has released the Super Hero "World of Reading" books and that makes little man happy- so that makes mama happy too!   Up first - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Fully Charged . This book has us meet Peter Parker aka Spider Man and learn...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Although summer break has started here (and most other places by now, right?)  it doesn't mean that it is time to put the books up. In my opinion, it is more important to keep reading books DURING the summer!!! Stimulate the mind, my friend, explore and discover new worlds and characters!   Or - you can be like us and revisit characters we know and love...  I was happy when we were sent the latest Disney Book Group Planes book to review -  Disney Planes - Fire and Rescue :  Dusty's Big Job  and we loved it! This was such a super cute book!   I loved the message behind it and as always, I loved the illustrations!   In Dusty's Big Job, we see Dusty as he has been told...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. We love reading books and it is fun to read the ones that have a bit of interaction with the book and the reader...  We were sent the book, Arlo's ARTrageous Adventure by David LaRochelle.  First of all, let me start with saying that I love going to Museums.  Guess that was an added bonus for me going to art school.  Anyways... I love going and hope that Broxton shares my love of art... We have never been to an art museum together.. I honestly just do not think he is ready to go at this time...  But, we did have the chance to go to museums through the internet and books!   In Arlo's ARTrageous Adventure, we get to enjoy the arts with a lift the flap theme. In the openin...

We have luckily found a church that we enjoy going to.   I feel bad that it took us so long, but I am just really thankful that we have found one and that Broxton enjoys going to church!!! When I was presented with the opportunity to read a couple children's book by Kathleen Long Bostrom , I was excited, because it was about to cute characters... Rufus and Ryan!!! FROM HER WEBSITE:  Rufus and Ryan is a new series of board books for preschoolers, featuring Ryan, an energetic little boy, and his stuffed monkey Rufus. The series focuses on religious and church concepts, as well as character traits and development. The text is presented in young Ryan's voice as he teaches Rufus about the things he is learn...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I will admit it... I totally judge books by their cover... I hate that about me, but it is true...  I received Princess Cupcake Jones and the Missing Tutu ... for review. I thought it was adorable and a great book for a little girl... (Told you, judging the cover..) So, then I read it...  It was ADORABLE!!!! Talk about loving a book!!! I finished reading it and Broxton finally decided to stroll over to see what I was doing and he quickly asked me what was going on in the book. I told him I would read it to him later, but it was a great book about a little Princess that did not do such a great job of cleaning up behind her...   and in the process, she lost her things.. but they were never L...

Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I am not sure if I told you or not, but Broxton is taking Karate classes... He loves it and although he is the "baby" of the group, he tries to handle his own... The last time he had class, one of the "older kids"  (age 6)  made a comment about being 6 and having a phone to play on... he responded that he had a tablet.... Why am I telling you this?  Because this week, he felt that he needed to bring something "cool" in to show his classmates! You know what he took? Time for Kids - Dinosaurs 3D  - One of the latest books he has been reviewing!!! He was so excited! When the book first arrived, the two of us looked at it...  Then, he had Marc look at it with him... I wish I had be...
