Summer normally means travel and with that, you have to think about eating the best you can while on the road (or on a plane.)  I know that my little one likes to munch on things as we venture places and instead of loading up on salty snacks and sugary drinks, we need to keep in mind healthy treats.  One problem for us on vacation?  Sometimes he is ready for breakfast before the rest of us... or he is wanting a snack while we are hanging out in the room... Lucky for us, Happy Family Brands has released a line of good for you foods to make the kids happy!!!!  They have treats for baby, tots and even kids & grownups.  Their packaging makes it great to throw in a purse or diaper bag!  Take a look at some of their T

Eric Herman,  a nationally touring, award-winning family music artist and YouTube music video star, has created a new album of songs ranging  from funky dance tunes to soft and sweet celebrations of life. Five years in the making,  Party Animal  features guest artists DidiPop, members of Recess Monkey and Chris Ballew (The Presidents of the USA/Caspar Babypants). The energetic “jump, jump, jump and jump and jump” song “November First,” was co-written with Children’s Poet Laureate Kenn Nesbitt, a frequent creative collaborator. Although this one-man band often performs solo with his "Invisible Band," he now also leads a fully visible live band called Eric Herman and the Thunder Puppies. Make sure y

The name of the book?  Sir Silly - The World Where Words Play.   The author?  David Dayan Fisher This is a book that is full of words... lots and lots of words in silly poems sure to make you giggle and maybe even get a bit tongue tied trying to read them.  I will say,  I did notice myself reading and it seemed as though I was going faster and faster with each line...  The synopsis of this book says it "is all about making fun out of having fun - and sometimes being funny while doing so."    This book contains 31 poems and every couple of poems greets us with a cute little sketch! Are you a fan of silly poe

If you remember, some time ago I had the chance to review a journal from Journals Unlimited...  I was recently sent a new journal and I think this is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!!! The latest?  It is " My Lifelong Journal of Firsts "  I think that this is a great journal to have to keep memories of your life, or for your kid...  I know a friend of mine documented every "first" that her baby did, but I will admit, I tried to do it but somewhere along the way, I stopped... Sure, we still have firsts going on, but I was not writing them down... Now, I can!   One main thing I like is that they make the journal on a spiral ring binding instead of a book.  This is great for me, as I can fo

How often do you go and get your eyes checked?  You know you should go yearly... but I will admit that I was not the best at doing so... Recently, I asked my eye doctor of a million years if they would let me buy a pair of contacts until I could get back to get my eyes examined... They quickly told me "NO!"  and I learned that it had been YEARS since I had last been seen.. I guess time really flies, because I though for sure I was right around the one year mark... I will not tell you how long they said it had been, but once they did... It all came back to me...  So, I knew it was LONG overdue and I scheduled an appointment at a local place near us...  I am glad I did, since I had been having major eye issu

Frozen.  You don't even have to have a kid to know this movie... When we were in the store, it was on the TV displays... When on facebook, you see all the you tube video's of people singing the different songs from the soundtrack....  So, there was no surprise when Disney Books started releasing books based on the popular movie!   One book is the Junior Novelization: Frozen .  This book is geared for the age range of 8-12.   I have not read this book, but I will say that it includes still images in the middle of the book from the movie, so you do get that... I have read mixed reviews on this book, so I am not really su

As a parent, do you question that you are doing the right thing all the time?  I know that I do many times... even multiple times per day... I know that I tell him I love him a MILLION times a day and there is no question in that... but I want him to have FAITH in HIMSELF.   BELIEF to know who he is and to be strong in his understanding that he is so very special... I was sent the book, A Simple Idea to Empower Kids by Kathleen Boucher and I really loved the messages throughout all of the pages! This is a soft cover book that features bright illustrations on one page and then text on the other...  I think that this is a great book that should be in ALL libraries.  Although it is geared for ages 3-12, I know that

When I think of "Heroes" there are several come to mind...  Of course my husband is one: great husband, father, friend and the fact that he is an Army Soldier just puts him over the top.  To be honest, all military are pretty heroic in my opinion... but that is not what this post is about...  I do not think I have ever seen my dad in a t-shirt.  EVER.  So, I thought the other Hero in our life would be perfect to wear this!  Doesn't he just look like a Superman to you? Today, I want to share one of the unsung heroes in my life.  My dad.   I was recently informed of a pretty cool website where you can share with the world the Hero in your life...   It is called the  Superman Hall of Heroes  an

Main Event!   We were invited to attend the celebrations to prepare for their Grand Opening and we had a blast!!!  For those not sure what Main Event is, let me tell you... Bowling.  Arcade. Laser Tag. Ropes Course. Food. Drinks.  All in one place!   Working in a sports bar for years, I always look to see if there is somewhere to watch whatever sporting events are on  TV  and they have you covered!   One thing I liked? The big screens.  At one point, they had music playing in the bowling area and on the big screens they ha

I can proudly say that the Little Free Library is NOW up and going at our local Harley Davidson dealership!  This past weekend, they had their monthly KIDS DAY and in doing so, we incorporated the library dedication on the same day!   If you are not familiar with the Little Free Library, you can read the posts I have done about it here , here and here .  While the weather was not the most inviting, we still had fun and I was happy to see a few kids heading out with a book from the newest library! Kids Day started with an air mechanical bull---  Broxton was not a fan and then the rain started, so they had to turn it off and cover it up... But  -  they did have arts and crafts.... and free sno-cones!   How
