Where Do Pants Go? #RaisingAReader

Image
Having a little one around means we have some silly times these days.  I know good and well that our house isn't the only one out there that has moments of silliness.  I have been known to see daddy (or big brother putting shoes on their hands or Savannah's tutu on her head.  It makes us all laugh and we say "no, that is not where that goes!"  Come on, admit it.. You have done it before too!  Well, the latest book for Savannah that we received does just that.    FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Be Who YOU are meant to be! Don't be one of the leaping lemmings #raisingareader

Do you follow the leader, or do you do your own thing?  I think there is a time and place for everything and in the book by John Briggs, this is a great message to share with people of all ages!   We were sent the book, Leaping Lemmings and I really enjoyed it.  FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are  my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation. Leaping Lemmings by John Briggs is a great book that tells you it is okay to be different. In this book, we meet a group of lemmings that do the same thing day after day.  Over and over again, they all conform to the same thing and no one ever changes... that is none of the lemmings except for Larry. He eats pizza when the rest eat moss, he dares to be different and in the end he helps the other lemmings realize it is okay to be who you are meant to be. I

The Moon Inside - #RaisingAReader

Do you have a little one that is afraid of the dark?  If you do, then you might want to look at the book, The Moon Inside by Sandra Feder.  This is a cute book that talks about a little girl named Ella who is afraid of the dark, so she turns on all the lights in the house to erase the darkness at bedtime.  FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. The Moon Inside by Sandra Feder is a book that we had to read the day it was delivered.  I mean, when a one year old walks over to you with a book and climbs in your lap, who are you to say NO? As much as I love reading and hope to pass that love on to both of my children, you know I am the last one that will say no to a book!  We read it and got to meet a sweet little girl named Ella who loves the color yellow

IHOP has so much going on right now...

Image
It is so funny to me.  My mom and brother had a tradition of Ihop breakfast over the years and looks like I will be continuing on that tradition with my kids too!  Broxton loves Ihop and Savannah seems to like it as well, must be something about those pancakes!!!  Marc and I have made a few breakfast dates to go and enoy their menu when Broxton is in school, so when I heard about the latest things going on at our local Ihop, I knew we would need to go check it out! Strawberry Shortcake - Berry Hi-Tech Fashion

Image
I had a Strawberry Shortcake party when I was a kid.  Hey, I even have my Strawberry Shortcake doll!  You would squeeze her and her breath would smell like Strawberries. I have not tried to see what it does now, to be honest I am a little scared!  Haaa! Anyways, Strawberry Shortcake was popular when I was a child and that seems like ages ago. (I am really starting to feel my age based upon things in the media, but I mentally don't feel that old, am I alone on that?)  Well, check out the new DVD featuring Strawberry Shortcake and her friends.  She sure has grown up too, from my day! Some books are just so cute that you can't help but laugh, right? We were sent book number 2 in a series, The Rootlets.  The Rootlets are four little kids that have superpowers that they are just now learning about. I am not sure what book one was about, but it doesn't seem to me that you need to read it in order to enjoy this cute story.  So, we are reading Trouble at Plantasy Land . Plantasy Land is a fun theme park that they are headed to for opening day, except they arrive to see that it is having a bit of trouble and nothing is the way it should be. The owne

My Pancakes Taste Different Today #RaisingAReader

Do you talk to your kids about the world around them? I don't mean pointing out the birds and the trees, but explaining to them how the world works?  I don't do it as often as I should, but after reading My Pancakes Taste Different Today, I know we will be having a conversation soon.   FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. I will tell you now that this isn't a book that I normally would pick out to read at the library, or one that I would run to the store to buy, but after reading it, it does make you want to start a bit of conversation. In My Pancakes Taste Different Today , we meet Ethan.  He is excited to go out fishing, but first fills up on a big plate of pancakes made by his mom.  He thanks her for them and she explains that everyon

The Doc is In... #DocMcStuffins - Toy Hospital #JBHolidayGuide16

The Doc is in...  You know how the song goes, right?  Well, we love Doc McStuffins here.  I remember when Broxton was in kindergarten and ALL the little girls dressed like Doc for career day! Here we are, years later and Doc is still doing her thing, with a new wave of fans.  I am pretty sure as much as Savannah loves all of her stuffed animals, she will be taking care of them like Doc when she gets a little older! I ain't afraid of no ghost.  That is right, our neighborhood has been being boo'd at let me tell you, it is quite exciting!   The latest was a fun boo'd kit that contained the latest Ghostbusters Movie!   We have boo'd several neighbors and to see Broxton excitedly running up and leaving the treats on doors has been so much fun.  Luckily, we got boo'd back.  I do wish more people would participate though.  FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. If you read my post about Carol Burnett, you know that my Nana and I watched many a classic TV show back in the day.  Johnny Carson is another oldie but goodie.  I know my parents love Johnny too, since my dad has several of his shows on VHS.  (Am I dating myself too much right now?)  Hey, they even had me saying "Here's Johnny!" as a kid... I am telling you... We LOVED some Ed and Johnny!   If you are / were a fan like we ARE, you want to take a look at several collections that are currently for sale.  Talk about an amazing gift to go under the tree this year! Classic Carol - The Carol Burnett Show #JBHolidayGuide16

Growing up, I spent many nights with my Nana.  (I know I am not the only one to have a special bond with a grandparent.)  We had many good times and even now that she has been gone for getting close to 20 years, I can still bring up vivid memories of her like it was yesterday.  One memory? Watching her favorite TV shows. My Nana was cool before I even knew what cool was!  She had 2 TVs in her living room, since her "stories" came on at the same time and she had to watch and know what was going on.  (Long before Sports bars were putting multiple TVs out for your viewing pleasure!)  Looking back,I guess I never had a bedtime at her house, because we would be up late watching shows until who knows what time.  One of her favorite shows?  The Carol Burnett Show. Now that was a classic and for all of us Carol Burnett fans, we can now own a Collectors Edition of THE LOST EPISODES.  I can only imagine how hilarious those are! I have my fingers crossed that this will arrive for me un

Car Seat Safety

Just thought I would share this. We can never be too careful with our precious cargo! Car Seat Safety Tips: Find a car seat that fits your child. As children grow, how they sit in your car will change. Make sure the car seat you purchase is designed to fit your child’s current size and age. Not all car seats fit in all vehicles so test the car seat you plan to buy to make sure it fits well in your vehicle. Before putting your child in a car seat, read the manufacturer’s instructions so you know how your car seat works. All-in-One car seats offer you the advantage of using the same seat for the following positions: rear-facing, forward-facing with harness, then booster. These seats typically have higher height and weight limits for the rear-facing position, allowing you to keep your child rear-facing for a longer period of time. Remember, the best car seat is the one that fits your child properly, is easy to use, and fits in your vehicle correctly. The information here can help y
