Laugh Out Loud With Modern Family

Image
I love the whole TV on DVD (* or blu ray now) that is getting very popular in our house.... I have never really followed Modern Family. I believe it was because it was against another show I watched or something... Not really sure.. but the times I do watch it, I am busting out laughing throughout the show! I remember when it first came on, like first season "first" not recent... I was laughing and telling EVERYONE that they just had to watch it.. The cast is hysterical and the story line is one of a kind... So, when I had the chance to catch up on what I missed, I knew I was going to be SO HAPPY reviewing Modern Family Season 3. It is just that funny... Not to mention pretty much all of my friends watch and love it too, so we can chat about it... Join TV’s #1  family  for another hilarious and refreshingly original season of  Modern   Family , winner of eleven Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series two years in a row! As the extended Pritchett/Du

Image
How is your health?   Is that a weird question? It seems like every time I turn around, I hear about more and more people catching colds right now.. KNOCK - ON- WOOD, it hasn't got us yet...  (Although it should be soon, since the weather just keeps changing on us...) I mean, seriously, I just found out a friend of mine has whooping cough...  Another is showing signs of strep-throat! So... I just got an email and I thought I would share it: TOP 5 TIPS to STOP Your COLD Natural Ways to Stop Your Cold  Zinc Gluconate:   Because of zinc's antiviral properties, taking a well-formulated zinc cold remedy, such as zinc gluconate, at the onset of a cold can significantly reduce the cold's duration and severity, according to a comprehensive review of medical research on the subject. Homeland Season One On Blu Ray

Image
When I get sucked into a TV show, I get sucked in...  Am I the only one? The best part for me is when I find a new show...  One that I have heard people talking about..  and then I get to watch the whole season on DVD / Blu-Ray.. I get obsessed and have to watch the whole season as fast as I can... I really have not figured out WHY I am like that... but at least I admit it. The latest? Homeland... It starts off with Claire Danes' character IN Baghdad...  Followed by a war hero returning home...  Sooooooooooooo.......   I know it will be pulling at my heart strings.... I have to admit, I just started watching this... but I am sucked in already. I wanted to watch MORE today when I started, but the sex scene's were a bit inappropriate to be watching while Broxton was playing in the room... Guarantee that I will be watching tonight when he goes to bed...  I do believe I have found a new television show for me! Hailed as TV’s best new drama by cri

Going On A Field Trip: Magic School Bus #Giveaway

Image
Have you ever heard of / watched The Magic School Bus? I guess I have been out of the loop, as I had no idea what it was about...  I started hearing about it online and after looking it up, I see that it is an animated show that is very educational, teaching kids about math and science. I am all about education... so I was eager to see an episode!  We were sent a three pack of the Magic School Bus DVD: Field Trip Fun and Games. It was so informative and Broxton was hooked into it as soon as it started! The first one we watched was about BASEBALL and forces.  Of course, it was neat watching Mrs. Frizzle get the kids all excited and then to watch the school bus go into the book.  I was sucked into watching it as well, as I wanted to know what The Magic School Bus was all about...   I am so glad I did, as Broxton is always talking about it now... When he passes a bus on the road, he always has to ask if I think it is the "magic" one!   The Field Trip Fun and

He is loving school ... and loving his teachers!   Each day is full of learning and playing and I think Marc and I are both very happy that we decided to enroll him in pre-k. Now, my question... Since this is photography...  Question...  What type of camera do you use? Back in my "film" days, I had a Cannon Rebel.. I see so many different kinds. One of my dear friends has the Cannon T2i and loves it, but I was wanting to know what all of you used.. Thanks and have a great week!

Stop that Sore Throat Before It Stops You!

Image
I always hear about kids getting sick as soon as school starts back up.. The mixture of all the kids and all their germs...  I knew to expect it with Broxton... and yes, we do have a bit of the runny nose right now. Honestly, I don't know if it is because of school... Or because of the weather change...  I do know that each time the weather goes hot to cold or cold to hot... I get all icky feeling... One of my main things is my throat gets to hurting...   It gets all sore and dry and I am just in pain.  It has always been a problem.  No, it isn't tonsillitis or anything...  Tonsils and Adenoids have LONG been gone from me...  I normally cover my head up when I am sleeping, as I think the fan will make my throat worse... but lets be real here... I have the fan on me, because I love it... I totally get that from my mom...  That being said, the fan stays on... my throat still hurts, but I just deal with it... Now, I see that  Luden's  has a Moisture Dr

Learn the Alphabet with A Songbook - W is for Wapiti

Image
I love finding things that Broxton and I can enjoy together... Lately, we have been enjoying the alphabet songbook, W is for Wapiti ! I will tell you, I was excited to check this out...  As it isn't your ordinary "alphabet" book...  This is so fun and different! This is actually a colorfully illustrated book that goes along with a CD. The CD is actually the songs that are throughout the book.  Each page has "the letter" and then the lyrics... Want to know our routine? We get in the car for school and turn on the CD.   Broxton gets his book and we start listening... Once we are at the last light, we turn the song to the letter he is working on that week... This week, it is C...   Broxton loves singing the different songs and one of his favorites is the A song... Want to know what A is for?  A is for A-Ha. (This is the actual A page... minus the lyrics) A- ha, A-ha... Did you do that? No it wasn't me... Oh no it wasn't me... This is ho

Autistic Boy, or Boy With Autism? love anthony book review

Image
You know how you start reading a book and you hate to put it down, but you know you have to? I found that book this week!   I actually made it a point to get to carpool early, just so I had a little bit of uninterrupted ME time ...  Also known as time to read a few pages of a book for me.   Love Anthony by Lisa Genova is a book that will be recommended by people for years to come. It is a book that is more than a book of a boy with autism, or an autistic boy... Love Anthony follows the life of Olivia... I married woman that has a little boy, Anthony.   You meet her when Anthony is 3 years old... They are on Nantucket, visiting their summer cottage. We also meet Beth. Your heart immediately breaks for Beth, as she checks the mail to get an "early" birthday present. A letter letting her know that her husband Jimmy has been cheating on her. As each chapter comes to life, we flip back and forth between Olivia and Beth... The only similarity was that they both

Happy National Guacamole Day! (September 16th)

Image
Flavors include:   Classic Mild, Medium and Hot   Red Pepper Mango, Pineapple, Roasted Tomato, Avocado Verde and Guacamole and Spicy Pico If you know me at all, you know that I am married to a soldier...  He is the provider of our family and yes, he is OUR hero. When he was deployed, we were lucky enough that the boys were able to attend Operation Purple. Operation Purple is a camp designed for military children. Not only is Operation Purple a summer camp, but it is for military children. It is designed so that other kids that are dealing with the same things  (Deployment)   have one another to lean on... and the counselors are there to help them not only deal with their emotions... but to help them deal with being "military children." I know the boys loved it... They could not stop talking about it...  What does that have to deal with Guacamole? Well, this year... Wholly Guacamole is teaming up with Operation Purple to send kids to camp!   Image Credi

Finding Nemo in 3D - Just Keep Swimming

Image
I was so excited to know that Finding Nemo was going to be coming out in 3D- Why? Because I just love that movie...  Gotta LOVE Dory too... (You know I love Ellen, so that was a given!) We were so lucky to have the chance to go and see Finding Nemo in 3D last week. It was so awesome! We got there, grabbed our glasses and picked the seats that I thought would be perfect for us. The movie started and in true Pixar fashion, we had a treat... It was the dinosaur from Toy Story and WAS the partysaurus in this one! It was super cute and I have to be honest... I would love for another Toy Story to come out... I can not get enough of those guys! So... Back to Nemo. This has been one of Broxton's favorite movies since I can remember. We have it on DVD and if it is EVER on TV, we watch it like we don't own it already! I knew Broxton was going to be excited seeing it on the big screen (don't get me started on our television... my dad jokes that it came over on the Mayflower!)

Meet the Fuzzwippers

Image
The latest book I have been flipping through is, Hello, We're the Fuzzwippers by Marilynn Halas. This is a colorful book that tells us about the Fuzzwippers coming from the Land of the Fuzzwippers to meet all the kids...  They come to bring a message...  All of the kids are so excited and sit around listening, waiting to hear what they have to say... They talk about being quiet, so they can go anywhere with you... from bed to school and on all of the adventures in between.   One reason I like this book is because it says they are there to help you feel more comfortable.. and that when you are more secure, everyone feels better! The best part?  They totally bring attention to the fact they have no mouths...  With that, you have to know that the fuzzwippers don't actually "TALK" but rather they quote" Speak right to your imagination!" The end of the book even includes a couple blank pages..  The kids can use it to draw their own fuzzwippe
