Laugh Out Loud With Modern Family

I love the whole TV on DVD (* or blu ray now) that is getting very popular in our house.... I have never really followed Modern Family. I believe it was because it was against another show I watched or something... Not really sure.. but the times I do watch it, I am busting out laughing throughout the show! I remember when it first came on, like first season "first" not recent... I was laughing and telling EVERYONE that they just had to watch it.. The cast is hysterical and the story line is one of a kind... So, when I had the chance to catch up on what I missed, I knew I was going to be SO HAPPY reviewing Modern Family Season 3. It is just that funny... Not to mention pretty much all of my friends watch and love it too, so we can chat about it...

Join TV’s #1 family for another hilarious and refreshingly original season of Modern Family, winner of eleven Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series two years in a row! As the extended Pritchett/Dunphy clan faces an uproariously unpredictable array of family vacations, holiday hassles, troublesome in-laws, and surprising secrets, they still somehow manage to thrive together as one big, loving family — even as they drive each other absolutely insane! Season Three features a hilarious gag reel and never-before-seen couch confessions that will make you laugh out loud and remind you why viewers and critics alike have fallen in love with this thoroughly Modern Family.

Do you watch Modern Family?

Who cracks you up the most? Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are the two that get me laughing!

Got a Cold? Stop It With a Few Tips

How is your health?
Is that a weird question?
It seems like every time I turn around, I hear about more and more people catching colds right now..

KNOCK - ON- WOOD, it hasn't got us yet...
(Although it should be soon, since the weather just keeps changing on us...)
I mean, seriously, I just found out a friend of mine has whooping cough...
Another is showing signs of strep-throat!

So... I just got an email and I thought I would share it:

Natural Ways to Stop Your Cold

Zinc Gluconate:
Because of zinc's antiviral properties, taking a well-formulated zinc cold remedy, such as zinc gluconate, at the onset of a cold can significantly reduce the cold's duration and severity, according to a comprehensive review of medical research on the subject. The delivery method of zinc is critical to its effectiveness; certain additives can prohibit the zinc icons from being released. Carefully research your zinc product choice to ensure effective treatment.
They recommend :Cold-EEZE Oral Spray
(We have it if we need it!)

Aside from being a great sweetener, honey is also a time-tested remedy for coughs and loaded with antioxidants. Studies have shown that buckwheat honey may provide better relief of nighttime coughs than over-the-counter (OTC) cough syrups and can help sooth your throat.
They recommend: Maty's All Natural Cough Syrup
(Actually gave this to Broxton the other day, surprised me when he didn't freak out over the taste like he normally does when given medicine!)

Fenugreek tea helps to clear out mucus, reduce respiratory inflammation, and ease your urge to cough. Recent research suggests that fenugreek may also have powerful antiviral properties
They recommend: Alvita Teas Fenugreek Seed Tea
(I have never even heard of Fenugreek Tea, so I do not have a clue)

Garlic has potent antiviral and antibacterial properties to help fight infection. Mix freshly chopped garlic with food, take it with a teaspoon of honey, or brew some into a tea.
They recommend: Trader Joe's Crushed Garlic
(Marc SWEARS if you take a teaspoon of garlic, cover it in honey and just swallow, you will feel IMMEDIATE relief for a sore throat.  He does it whenever and I just take his word, I just am still a bit unsure about that one!)

Packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and zinc, pomegranate juice boosts your immune system and helps your body defend itself.
They recommend: POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
( I love POM.. bottom line!)

Cayenne Pepper:
A small bit of dried cayenne pepper powder, made into a tea with lemon or mixed into a broth, will help clear up congested sinuses as well as aiding circulation to fend off chills.
They recommend: Simply Organic Cayenne Pepper
(I couldn't tell you either way, but I have heard it is true.)

*** This was not a paid / sponsored post.  Although they did recommend products, I am basically just sharing this as I see many people with a Facebook Status that asks suggestions... Hope this helps!

Homeland Season One On Blu Ray

When I get sucked into a TV show, I get sucked in...
Am I the only one?
The best part for me is when I find a new show...
One that I have heard people talking about..  and then I get to watch the whole season on DVD / Blu-Ray..
I get obsessed and have to watch the whole season as fast as I can...
I really have not figured out WHY I am like that... but at least I admit it.

The latest?
Homeland... It starts off with Claire Danes' character IN Baghdad...
Followed by a war hero returning home...
Sooooooooooooo.......   I know it will be pulling at my heart strings....
I have to admit, I just started watching this... but I am sucked in already.

I wanted to watch MORE today when I started, but the sex scene's were a bit inappropriate to be watching while Broxton was playing in the room... Guarantee that I will be watching tonight when he goes to bed...
I do believe I have found a new television show for me!

Hailed as TV’s best new drama by critics everywhere, the award-winning HOMELAND* delivers compelling characters, thrilling twists and breathtaking suspense. Carrie Mathison (Golden Globe® winner Claire Danes), a brilliant but volatile CIA agent, suspects that a rescued American POW may not be what he seems. Is Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody_(Damian Lewis) a war hero...or an Al Qaeda sleeper agent plotting a spectacular terrorist attack on U.S. soil? Following her instincts, Mathison will risk everything to uncover the truth — her reputation, her career and even her sanity. Packed with multiple layers and hidden clues, Season One offers something new every time you see carefully.

Have you watched Homeland?

Going On A Field Trip: Magic School Bus #Giveaway

Have you ever heard of / watched The Magic School Bus?
I guess I have been out of the loop, as I had no idea what it was about...
I started hearing about it online and after looking it up, I see that it is an animated show that is very educational, teaching kids about math and science.
I am all about education... so I was eager to see an episode!
We were sent a three pack of the Magic School Bus DVD: Field Trip Fun and Games.
It was so informative and Broxton was hooked into it as soon as it started!

The first one we watched was about BASEBALL and forces.
Of course, it was neat watching Mrs. Frizzle get the kids all excited and then to watch the school bus go into the book.  I was sucked into watching it as well, as I wanted to know what The Magic School Bus was all about...   I am so glad I did, as Broxton is always talking about it now... When he passes a bus on the road, he always has to ask if I think it is the "magic" one!

The Field Trip Fun and Games DVD is actually 5 hours of entertainment ( I tell you what, it sure did not feel like it.. You just get so caught up watching and learning, that it goes by really fast!)
Want to know one thing that I really enjoyed about the Magic School Bus?
There are some scenes that are totally made up, but it is made up to be able to explain the lesson better...  At the end of the episode, a "kid" will "call in" and get to speak to "Mr. Producer" in the phone call they will ask if such and such can actually happen and he will be honest and tell them no, that can't happen because of blah-blah... but then they discuss the things that do happen and why... So, even though the lesson is over, they are actually still learning.

W/W - Preschool and a Question

Okay, Okay..
I know I am really behind in getting Broxton's pre-k picture up...
But, better late than never... Right?

He is loving school ... and loving his teachers!
Each day is full of learning and playing and I think Marc and I are both very happy that we decided to enroll him in pre-k.

Now, my question...
Since this is photography...
What type of camera do you use?
Back in my "film" days, I had a Cannon Rebel..
I see so many different kinds.
One of my dear friends has the Cannon T2i and loves it, but I was wanting to know what all of you used..
Thanks and have a great week!

Stop that Sore Throat Before It Stops You!

I always hear about kids getting sick as soon as school starts back up..
The mixture of all the kids and all their germs...
I knew to expect it with Broxton... and yes, we do have a bit of the runny nose right now.

Honestly, I don't know if it is because of school... Or because of the weather change...
I do know that each time the weather goes hot to cold or cold to hot...

I get all icky feeling...

One of my main things is my throat gets to hurting...   It gets all sore and dry and I am just in pain.  It has always been a problem.  No, it isn't tonsillitis or anything...  Tonsils and Adenoids have LONG been gone from me...  I normally cover my head up when I am sleeping, as I think the fan will make my throat worse... but lets be real here... I have the fan on me, because I love it... I totally get that from my mom...  That being said, the fan stays on... my throat still hurts, but I just deal with it...

Now, I see that Luden's has a Moisture Drop out that I am in LOVE with...
It is strawberry-kiwi flavored and it not only tastes great... It also adds the moisture to my mouth to make me happy!  I have not had the "sore throat" yet this year... but I have had the dry mouth... Whenever that has happened, I have popped a Luden's in and I have been good to go...
So happy to see that they not only have throat drops, but also moisturizing drops too...
Oh, did you know that they have been around for 130 years?  Must be doing something right!!!!

We were also sent the newest from Chloraseptic.  This is actually going to come in handy soon...
It is their Warming Sore Throat Spray...  It says that it will have a warming and soothing effect...
Not to mention it is being thought of as "hot tea on the go!"

Looks as though we are stocking up for any nasty bugs that come our way...

Is your house ready for the weather change?

Learn the Alphabet with A Songbook - W is for Wapiti

I love finding things that Broxton and I can enjoy together...
Lately, we have been enjoying the alphabet songbook, W is for Wapiti!

I will tell you, I was excited to check this out...
As it isn't your ordinary "alphabet" book...
This is so fun and different!
This is actually a colorfully illustrated book that goes along with a CD.
The CD is actually the songs that are throughout the book.  Each page has "the letter" and then the lyrics...

Want to know our routine?
We get in the car for school and turn on the CD.
Broxton gets his book and we start listening...
Once we are at the last light, we turn the song to the letter he is working on that week...
This week, it is C...

Broxton loves singing the different songs and one of his favorites is the A song...
Want to know what A is for?  A is for A-Ha.
(This is the actual A page... minus the lyrics)
A- ha, A-ha... Did you do that?
No it wasn't me... Oh no it wasn't me...
This is how the song starts... and Broxton LOVES singing it over and over again...

This book incorporates the different letters and it isn't in your basic A is for apple, B is for bird...
It is more like A = A-Ha, D = Dream, H is about a swallow flying High...

We have even had to turn to using the book as a punishment...
He loves it so much that the other day, we had to tell him he could not listen to it, since he had been NOT listening in school.
I know that it isn't just a cute book for Broxton and I...
Marc was actually listening to it with Broxton and he had to replay a song again, as he really enjoyed it!

I was actually going to send it in to school to let the teacher borrow it, but he loves it so much that we have to listen on the way TO school... and then again AFTER school...  After school, he can look through the book and tell me what letter he wants to hear...  I love that we are not only working on learning new words for the alphabet, but we are also learning new songs and can laugh and sing going to school each day!

If you are looking for something fun and educational, I highly recommend this book!

Autistic Boy, or Boy With Autism? love anthony book review

You know how you start reading a book and you hate to put it down, but you know you have to?

I found that book this week!
I actually made it a point to get to carpool early, just so I had a little bit of uninterrupted ME time ...
Also known as time to read a few pages of a book for me.

Love Anthony by Lisa Genova is a book that will be recommended by people for years to come.
It is a book that is more than a book of a boy with autism, or an autistic boy...

Love Anthony follows the life of Olivia...
I married woman that has a little boy, Anthony.
You meet her when Anthony is 3 years old...
They are on Nantucket, visiting their summer cottage.

We also meet Beth.
Your heart immediately breaks for Beth, as she checks the mail to get an "early" birthday present.
A letter letting her know that her husband Jimmy has been cheating on her.

As each chapter comes to life, we flip back and forth between Olivia and Beth...
The only similarity was that they both live on Nantucket.
I was wondering how the book was going to tie the two of them together, I mean... Yeah, both on Nantucket, but there had to be more than that... right?

As the book follows the course of a year, so much more is discovered and I truly loved reading each page...
Learning about autism, not only from the parent, but also from the voice of the child as well...
This is a book that not only tugs at your heartstrings for that reason, but also for the reason of wanting...
Needing to be loved, wanted...
Isn't this something that each of us wants/needs in some way or another?
I loved the way that Lisa pulls all of this into a story that dives much deeper as the book goes along.

If you are looking for a great book to read at book club...
Or are just looking for a new book to read now that you might have a bit of time, I totally say you should look at getting this book.
As I said, it gives a voice to autism, but it also gives a voice to our heart...

Happy National Guacamole Day! (September 16th)

Flavors include:  Classic Mild, Medium and Hot  Red Pepper Mango, Pineapple, Roasted Tomato, Avocado Verde and Guacamole and Spicy Pico
If you know me at all, you know that I am married to a soldier...
He is the provider of our family and yes, he is OUR hero.
When he was deployed, we were lucky enough that the boys were able to attend Operation Purple.
Operation Purple is a camp designed for military children.
Not only is Operation Purple a summer camp, but it is for military children.
It is designed so that other kids that are dealing with the same things  (Deployment)   have one another to lean on... and the counselors are there to help them not only deal with their emotions... but to help them deal with being "military children."
I know the boys loved it... They could not stop talking about it...
What does that have to deal with Guacamole?
Well, this year...
Wholly Guacamole is teaming up with Operation Purple to send kids to camp!

Read the press release I received:

September 16 is National Guacamole Day! Yes, it's a real holiday (kind of) and no, we didn't invent it (but we'll celebrate it!)
This year, we're launching a special program on September 16th. We meet everyday, average people everyday who are Heroes! We wanted to celebrate a special group of people who are indeed heroes in our book- the children of the soldiers who honorably serve our country every day.
Every year, 2 million kids say goodbye to their moms or dads as they deploy. This means 2 million birthdays, first day of school, last day of school, holidays and special events are missed. Wholly Guacamole teamed up with Brad Meltzer, NY Times bestselling author and creator of Ordinary People Change The World. His team created the artwork for our Wholly™ Heroes program. The proceeds with go to Operation Purple® camps which is part of the National Military Family Association. These summer camps are special for military kids and the organization is a non-profit. Please help us meet our goal to send 100 kids to camp!

Program Details:
- Go to or to purchase a shirt or donate directly to Operation Purple camps!
- The shirts are $10 and the entire $10 amount will go towards our goal.
- Our goal is to sell 5,000 shirts to meet our goal of sending 100 kids to camp.
- Sales are via Pay Pal and shipping is included.
- Both youth and adult size shirts are available.
- Program- Sept 16- Oct 31

Whooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooo
Want something great to eat?
Try their Red Pepper Mango.  If you are a salsa fan, you will LOVE this!

I personally want to thank Wholly Guacamole for doing this...
It really does mean so much to those of us with kids!

Finding Nemo in 3D - Just Keep Swimming

I was so excited to know that Finding Nemo was going to be coming out in 3D-
Because I just love that movie...
Gotta LOVE Dory too... (You know I love Ellen, so that was a given!)
We were so lucky to have the chance to go and see Finding Nemo in 3D last week.
It was so awesome!
We got there, grabbed our glasses and picked the seats that I thought would be perfect for us.
The movie started and in true Pixar fashion, we had a treat... It was the dinosaur from Toy Story and WAS the partysaurus in this one!
It was super cute and I have to be honest... I would love for another Toy Story to come out... I can not get enough of those guys!
So... Back to Nemo.
This has been one of Broxton's favorite movies since I can remember.
We have it on DVD and if it is EVER on TV, we watch it like we don't own it already!
I knew Broxton was going to be excited seeing it on the big screen (don't get me started on our television... my dad jokes that it came over on the Mayflower!)
So, the movie starts and Broxton has his glasses on.
I am really getting into the movie, I love it just as much as he does..
It is so sweet and so funny all at the same time.
Then, I look over and Broxton is totally enthralled in watching it...
I kept trying to tell him to put the glasses on, so he could enjoy the 3D of it all, but he was just as content watching it all blurry.  Whenever I would notice he didn't have them on, I would tell him to put them on and he would... but a bit later, they were off again.  He just isn't into glasses right now.
I loved seeing it in 3D...
It was awesome..
I thought I would love the shark scene the best... but to be honest, I thought the best part of the 3D for me was when they were in the baggies trying to get to the open water...
I mean, you just FELT like you were in there with them...
Broxton kept saying he wanted to go to the aquarium and after the movie, I think we both felt like we had been IN the aquarium, not just a movie!

If you are a fan of Nemo... Or any Disney / Pixar movies...
Young or old, I say head on over and watch this while you can...

Meet the Fuzzwippers

The latest book I have been flipping through is, Hello, We're the Fuzzwippers by Marilynn Halas.
This is a colorful book that tells us about the Fuzzwippers coming from the Land of the Fuzzwippers to meet all the kids...

They come to bring a message...
All of the kids are so excited and sit around listening, waiting to hear what they have to say...

They talk about being quiet, so they can go anywhere with you... from bed to school and on all of the adventures in between.

One reason I like this book is because it says they are there to help you feel more comfortable.. and that when you are more secure, everyone feels better!
The best part?  They totally bring attention to the fact they have no mouths...
With that, you have to know that the fuzzwippers don't actually "TALK" but rather they quote" Speak right to your imagination!"
The end of the book even includes a couple blank pages..
The kids can use it to draw their own fuzzwipper, or to even write a story about them!
This was the first book in the Fuzzwippers series, sort of a "get to know" book.
I can not wait to see more from this,a as the second book is about listening!

Oh, I guess you would like to know the message that they were sent to bring....
