Ugly Girl by Marcela Sosa #Review

Image
Another book that is great to add to your Christmas countdown, or just because library?  Ugly Girl by Marcela Sosa.  We have had this one for a while and have decided it is time to donate, but not sure if I want to donate to our local Little Free Library or Savannah's school. Either way, the message there is a good one and I want to share it.   FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Benji and The 24 Pound Banana Squash #Review #Raisingareader

Image
You know how sometimes you want immediate results, but it doesn't work out that way for you?  Well, in this book... we have Benji that has seeds from the previous summer.  He wants to plant it and grow a squash, but it just is not time... Finally the time has come, but it does not give him results as quick as he wants.  He loves and nourishes and it proud with his results.  It is funny to me that a kids book helped me to remember that things take time and to not try to rush through things... Just wait and love and support and thing will begin to work for you.    FTC Compliant Review Policy:    The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Elly and the Smelly Sneakers - (Would you choose Sneakers or Slippers?)

Image
Not all little girls want to wear dresses and play princess, I am learning that these days!  Savannah will just as soon grab her brothers cars, trains and army men to play with as fast as she will play with her barbies or dolls.  I don't force either on her and figure she can play with whatever makes her happy.  Another cute book arrived for us to review from Sterling Publishing and it keeps on with that theme for us. In a different take on the Cinderella Story we know, this one is opposite.  Elly and the Smelly Sneakers has us meet Elly... Like I said,   Elly and the Smelly Sneakers by Leslie Gorin is a tale totally opposite of another "princess" we love.  I personally love Elly ...

What would you do if an alligator walked in your dance class?

Image
Another awesome book we have had the pleasure to add to our rotation these days is Dance is for Everyone.  The funny thing about this is that Savannah LOVES to dance and starts moving as soon as she hears music.  ANYWHERE we are!  If we are in the car, she will call your name until you acknowledge that she is dancing there too!   FTC Compliant Review Policy:   The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by monetary compensation. In Dance is for Everyone by Andrea Zuill , we see a cute group of kids having fun time at dance class when an alligator shows up!  I mean, seriously, what would you do if an alligator showed up to YOUR DANCE CLASS?  The alligator doesn't speak, nor does it seem to understand them... but that reptile sure can follow along with the dance moves!   ...

Ella Who? A great book on friendship (and listening!)

Image
Summer slump happening yet?  Around here, we have books a' plenty to read and we have also been visiting the library each week!   While I do love that both my kiddo's love books, I am not all about Savannah having a book from the library yet, as she isn't the best with them.  (She either gets too excited turning the pages and messes them up, or she chomps on the board books like its a big candy bar... I can't win with that one these days!) We were recently sent a couple great books from Sterling Publishing and I wanted to share the first one with you now.... Ella Who is the title and it is super cute.  I know we will be reading it plenty of times, but down the road, it will be passed on to my sweet baby cousin that was recently born named Ella! What would you wish if you thought you were just "normal"

Image
A friend of mine has a little girl named Nina.  As soon as I read the book "Normal Nina and the Magic Box" that I was sent for review, I knew that I would be giving it to her.  I mean, it was a book with Nina's name all in it!!!!! I really enjoyed the book.  In it, we meet Normal Nina who finds a magic box.  She gets three wishes and wishes to no longer be normal.  She wants to be tall, but then she is too tall and doesn't fit in her clothes... NOR HER HOUSE!   Lucky for her, she got to make another wish...  You have to read the book, but lets put it this way.. Happily, she finds out that being "normal" really isn't that bad.  I mean, what exactly is "normal" these days? Ways to Boost Kids' Self Esteem

Image
Self Esteem in children is really important to me!  I used to be a greeter at Broxton's school in the morning and I would make sure to try and start their day off with a huge smile and let them know they were awesome.  You don't know how many high fives and smiles I have received walking through those doors.  This is a guest post, but one that I think is important. Ways To Boost Kids’ Self-Esteem For the first two quarters of the school year, Olivia’s grades were perfect, all A’s on the report card of the second grader. Olivia was involved in the school holiday play, she was in the inventor’s club, she got along with everyone and always looked forward to going to school. Something changed once school started again after winter break. Olivia began to withdraw from her friends, she was making up illnesses to stay home and when she was at school, her grades were slipping. After some prying, Olivia’s parents found the root of her problem: A new teacher had taken o...

We like to read here. A little of this and a little of that. Classics that I read and loved as a child, all the way to books about monsters.  Now, we can add POTUS to the list.  Perfect for election year without getting into politics for the younger generation!   FTC Compliant Review Policy:   The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing.
