Marc is Home!
(YES, THIS IS LATE............ BUT I WANTED TO SHARE....)
Okay, this post is all about my honey being home.
I have never been to a military homecoming before...
Yes, I have seen them on TV, and of course, I cried when watching them....
but
this time it was different..
So, Marc left Afghanistan and after who knows how many delays, they were FINALLY on US soil. We went to where they were going to have the homecoming ceremony... and then guess what? We WAITED again! They kept telling us that they were getting closer, and then closer..
at one point, they said that they were like 45 minutes away... 45 minutes later, they were 30 minutes away...
Yes, it was a bit frustrating, but like I told the others there...
I would rather know that they were in Georgia and wait and them arrive safely than for them to still be in Afghanistan.
THEN IT HAPPENED...
They said they were less than one mile from us!
All of a sudden, there were these BIG trucks riding by and we all started going nuts!
(It was their luggage, but it meant that they were close!)
OKAY, time to get loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERE COME THE BUSES!!!!!!
One after another, they kept coming and coming...
It was the coolest thing...
We were all screaming... of course, I started crying just seeing the buses!
Then, we waited and the speaker said that if we wanted to see them, we better get LOUD and let them know we missed them...
So we did... We were screaming, then chanting U S A
Next thing you know, we see one guy come from behind the trees carrying a flag...
THEN.............
ALL OF THEM
in formation
walking towards us...
So, we kept walking towards them...
Just a few more steps and we would have been right beside the speakers podium!
We sang and then he welcomed them home...
THEN WE COULD GO GREET OUR LOVED ONE!!!!
Everyone was nuts!
Crying and hugging...
Yes, there were like 300 of them in the pitch black...
I could not find Marc and I started to panic..
(oh yeah, forgot to mention, we could only see them for 15 minutes before they had to load back up)
THEN, HE walked over to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He kissed me. Kissed Broxton..
and yes, I was crying like a baby
He hugged my mom...
and I grabbed him back!
I kept saying, "Daddy is HOME!"
I think that might be all I said, over and over again...
It was so wonderful!
They then loaded the buses and we followed to go get their luggage...
We FINALLY got back to the hotel at 6:30 in the morning...
But it was so worth it!
Can you tell I am very proud of my husband?
I am!
